This week you won't find any deep film analysis, existential themes, or scathing social commentary (OK there is a Carter Joke and a Reagan Joke, but that's it). The Lambs assembled this week to mostly share what tickled them about this 1984 Comedy.  It sometimes sounds like the Chris Farley Show , "Remember that time the bookstore owner talked backwards?" "Yeah", "That was awesome". Jeanette Ward, tries to keep us all from sinking into repeating all the jokes from the film, and she succeeds in getting us to dig a little bit for some overlooked gems. You may not understand the movie better from listening to the show, but you will want to watch it again because Matt Simpson, James Wilson and Bubbawheat are enthusiastic about so much of the movie. Come listen to your friends talk about the film, like you are all in the seventh grade again.

The LAMBs have no common theme this week, except that they have been watching things that they want to talk about. We get schooled on a couple of streaming films, a couple of current movies, and a couple of older classics. Everyone had a variety of sources for their choices, and Aaron cheated by collecting the five Academy Animated shorts into one selection (good for him). We also go a short way down the Gene Hackman path, a deeper dive will wait until another show. The exit question was hard for everyone this week, and so they tried to cheat on that as well. Nicole Ayers, Jeanette Ward and Aaron Neuwirth have been watching things that they will steer you towards, and for a couple, away from.

The West, Veteran's Day respect for our family members and American life; that's what our conversation was about today. And what a conversation it was! We were honored to have Jeanette Ward on the show today for a great morning discussion. Jenette has accomplished so much in her life and she has a great story of perseverance as well. Growing up in PA and then moving to NV, Jeanette is familiar with the experiences of those around her. Recently, Jeanette conceded to her opponent in the recent election for Illinois Senate District number 25. But that's not the end of it! It was a decision to run for the school board (U-46) that began Jeanette's interest in politics. She believes that parents should and must be involved in all aspects of their children's lives. Check out this interview and stay tuned for what the future may hold for Jeanette! Shouts go out to Tredwell for the help and support for yesterday's Veteran's Day special episode. Much appreciated! All veterans, veteran families and service members worldwide; your service is greatly appreciated. Thank you to our friends of the Aurora Public Art Commission & the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic). Don't forget Cocoa Crawl mugs are available for purchase now in various downtown Aurora shops. Shouts to the Air Classics Museum, Horse Talk, All Spoked Up and OffBeat Thrift. A new controversy has erupted in School District U-46, and this time it doesn’t involve compulsory co-ed locker rooms or offensive statements from board member Traci O’Neal Ellis. This time 18 local religious leaders have objected to school board member Jeanette Ward’s Facebook post about a controversial article on religion assigned in a sixth-grade class. A teacher had her sixth-graders read an article by Australian history of religion professor and agnostic Philip Almond and then answer questions based on that reading. Here are some of the controversial statements from that article… READ MORE…

A cursory look at recent words from prominent homosexual writer Andrew Sullivan who self-identifies as Catholic illustrates the ways homosexual Christians attempt to remake Scripture in their own image to serve their own desires. Catholic revisionist Sullivan, a well-known cultural commentator, offered a fanciful and childish reinterpretation of Scripture when he wrote about the U.S. Supreme Court case involving Colorado baker Jack Phillips. It should be noted from the outset that Sullivan hopes Phillips wins, but also hopes he wins based on expressive speech arguments—not religious free exercise grounds. READ MORE…

If Illinoisans want to know what’s wrong with public education, look no further than School District U-46, more specifically to the arrogant, self-righteous school board member Traci O’Neal Ellis who never misses an opportunity to insult conservative values through bigoted, divisive, uncivil language.  She is the school board member who has twice gleefully referred to the Republican National Convention as the “Klanvention.” Evidently wanting to outdo herself in offending a segment of the diverse community whose interests she laughingly claims to represent, she just posted this on her Facebook page: I’m proud to stand with the sons of bitches on …

In light of the possibility that Governor Bruce Rauner may renege on his commitment to veto HB 40—the bill that would require taxpayer-funding of abortions through Medicaid and state employee insurance plans through the entire 9 months of pregnancies—and the moral gravity of such an obscene (and costly) requirement, Illinois Family Institute Executive Director David Smith sent a letter to Illinois’ Republican congressmen requesting their help in persuading Governor Rauner to veto HB 40. So much to say about Monday night’s barn-burner of a school board meeting in School District U-46, so little time. The meeting started at 7:00 p.m. By 6:00 p.m. the meeting room was filled to capacity, and attendees were sent to two upstairs overflow rooms to watch a livestream of the meeting. Approximately 58 visitors spoke, with 37 speaking in opposition to the school board’s decision to allow a student to use the locker room designated for persons of the opposite sex and to do so without telling U-46 parents of this decision. The remaining 21 spoke in favor …

He has declared from on high that a student who wishes to be the opposite sex may use whichever locker room his or her heart desires. Even more troubling, Sanders has further declared that no parents in the district may be apprised of the fact that their children may be sharing a locker room with an opposite-sex student.
