The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Racist Suspects Mike & Isolda Ott. A duo of White filmmakers, Mike is a veteran of the American Film Institute - where Gus T. just visited for their 38th annual festival, and has made a number of feature length films. Even though the Otts honed their cinematic skills here in North America, Isolda hails from Siberia. Mrs. Ott's place of origin immediately gained import because she suggested that she was ignorant about "american racism" because of her place of birth. Gus pondered if he and his black sisters and brothers can relocate to Russia to escape our problems with the System of White Supremacy. The White folks laughed at this. Anyway, Mrs. Isolda Ott reached out to Gus about their latest project, MCVEIGH, a 90 minute biopic focused on the main White Terrorist perpetrator of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, where 168 people were killed. We'll ask why the world needed a make-believe account of “Noodle McVeigh's” life and why they chose to fictionalize a sexual tryst with a “hot blond,” played by Ashley Benson, as opposed to highlighting McVeigh's real life sister Jenny, who knew in advance that her brother was concocting weapons of mass destruction. In addition to their inappropriate laughter, ignorance about McVeigh's contemporary Race Soldier Eric Rudolph - who bombed the 1996 Atlanta Olympics one year after the OKC blast, and Mr. Ott's absurd claim that his non-white ex-girlfriend practiced Racism against him because he's White, the filmmakers didn't seem to have a valid reason for making a feature length film about a White mass killer. Unless they're "fanboys" and "fangirls" of McVeigh. Fictional accounts of White killers is an entire genre of literature and film. #TheTurnerDiaries #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

On December 26th, 2014 an employee at the DoubleTree Hotel in Portland walked into the stairwell and found the dead body of a young woman hidden behind the door. She had no ID with her and no one could remember seeing anyone that fit her description. Hours later another employee remembered that someone called 3 times the day before worried about their friend staying in room 715. It's very rare for detectives to identify who the killer is before the victim but that's what happened here and it led to one hell of a hunt ...and a tragic secret Produced by Jacob Hollabaugh Join our Patreon for bonus episodes, check out our website for merch, and follow us on TikTok, Instagram & YouTube

If you've always wanted to watch the poly lesbian cinematic lovechild of 8 Mile and Thelma and Louise, have we got a movie for you. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out to discuss why 2012 deep cut, Spring Breakers, Should've Been Gay. If you haven't seen A24's artsy crime thriller, just imagine MTV's Spring Break and Girls Gone Wild on acid and then add Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and the most hideous version of James Franco you can picture. Then layer a much younger Selena's wide-eyed innocent voice talking to her grandma about having a spiritual awakening in St. Pete's and wanting to start a lesbian commune with her besties over a montage of slow motion boobs and butts. The plot for this movie is thin at best. Four besties in college want to escape their super lame town and decide it is absolutely critical that they go for the full Girls Gone Wild Spring Break. But oh no, they haven't got any money! Don't worry, they'll just hold up a diner with water guns full of vodka to get the money. Somehow that works with zero repercussions and is honestly the smallest crime the girls will get involved with throughout the movie. When they get to St. Pete's, it's just babes and boobs and butts everywhere. They're all constantly touching one another and never wear more than a bikini again for the rest of the movie. You may think you have experienced the male gaze before, but this movie is truly on another level. Things take a turn when the girls end up getting arrested at a party and are sprung by Alien, ie. creepy James Franco. Selena Gomez's character, Faith, is immediately not on board and full on bounces from the trip. She signed up for a Spring Break full of lesbianism, not entertaining some dude. Vanessa and Ashley's characters Candy and Brit have absolutely no qualms about using this pathetic man for access to guns, drugs, and cash. They are so clearly dating (even during the threesome with Alien they only have eyes for each other) that they could literally be a lez-ssential couple if the movie itself was not so chaotic and so, so uncomfortably male gazey. We really wanted this to go full Thelma and Louise at the end, and to be fair it sort of does. Brit and Candy egg Alien into taking on his rival and get him killed in the process, leaving them free to take all of his stuff and drive off in his fancy car (after gunning down like at least 50 men while clad in nothing but bikinis and somehow not getting shot themselves). We know one thing for sure, Spring Breakers Should've Been Gay. Follow us on the platform formerly known as Twitter: (@lezhangoutpod) and answer our Q & Gay questions at the end of every episode. MOB LAND SYNOPSIS In a small town struggling with addiction, a local sheriff (John Travolta) tries to maintain the peace when desperate family man Shelby (Shiloh Fernandez) robs a pill mill. The supposedly easy score takes a violent turn, alerting the New Orleans mafia's revenge-seeking enforcer. Here's the trailer: https://www.lionsgate.com/videos/mob-land-2023-official-trailer-john-travolta NICHOLAS MAGGIO INTERVIEW WITH MOVIEWEB Here's a case for catharsis through creativity. Writer/director Nicholas Maggio made the new John Travolta action thriller Mob Land for his 13-year-old self. "I was 13 and in my friend's basement in Pennsylvania, and we got a copy of the VHS for Reservoir Dogs," Maggio admitted. "I remember having my mind just absolutely blown that this was all possible. I didn't know that film because I grew up with my dad. We watched Ben-Hur and Lawrence of Arabia. We didn't watch French Connection or Bullet. I had never seen this gritty kind of film before. "That's when I fell in love with filmmaking," he quickly added. "I fell in love with what film could be, especially the independent films of the 1990s." Decades later, Maggio has given birth to a gritty action-packed tale, which he co-wrote with Rob Healy. The story takes place deep in the heart of Dixie, where a small town is struggling with a rise in addiction. An intrepid sheriff (John Travolta) keeps things in check as best as he can, but when Shelby, a frenetic family man (Shiloh Fernandez of Evil Dead) robs a pill mill with Trey (Kevin Dillon of Entourage), his reckless brother-in-law, things turn dire. The New Orleans mafia enters the picture, and the action kicks up.Curiously, Nicholas Maggio was inspired to create the tale, thanks to an unconventional encounter about seven years ago. An avid muscle cars fan, he found several guys on Instagram who shared the same interest. They were located in the northern part of Alabama."They were all about driving these old beat up muscle cars and I had never met them. I didn't know anything about them. So, I hit them up on Instagram, and said, 'Hey, I want to come down and take photos of you guys.' So literally, a buddy of mine in New York met me in Alabama, and we ended up becoming very good friends with these guys. And we documented their lives for four or five days."Maggio loved the area - both his parents were born and raised in Mississippi - and he found northern Alabama intriguing. "It wasn't totally new to me, but it was a side I hadn't seen before. And they were taking me to all these small towns where they're from. So, I knew I wanted to write a story that revolved somewhat around these guys, and this idea of what the American Dream is, and what it means to them. It's definitely fictionalized, and I ran with it. I mean, my buddies in north Alabama are not hooked on pills and run clinics. But it is something that, you know, they probably have friends who do."Between Paradise City and Die Hart, it's been interesting to track Travolta's career choices of late. Regardless, there's a fascinating sense of ownership and power in what the Grease and Pulp Fiction star brings to the screen in Mob Land. Once the action gets rolling, audiences discover that the man fueling the New Orleans mafia twist here is a revenge-seeking brute (Stephen Dorff of Blade, Old Henry), who soon threatens Shelby's wife (Ashley Benson of Pretty Little Liars) and daughter. Travolta's beleaguered sheriff has to rise to the occasion."John read the script, and he expressed to me that it was something he could see himself doing," Maggio says. "I had a couple of conversations with John and as a first-time director, I think some people grilled me a little bit, wanting to know things. I got very different questions from everyone. But John wanted to know what I was going to do with the film, and why I wanted to make it.""He was pretty interested in not just the technical aspect of what I was going to do, he was more interested in why and what it meant to me, which is really fun. But once he was involved, I mean, we tore through it."Along the way, Maggio kept recalling his younger self, and why it was important for him to make a film that was, in some ways, a throwback to those 1990s action movies."That whole scene, the whole genre, all the great films that we got out of that era was incredible," he said. "For Mob Land, I wanted to do not just a love letter to the American neo-noir genre, but to the independent film spirit. I wanted it linear, simple, you know. filled with great characters. I wanted it to be defined by its protagonists and antagonists. Brutal and poetic."

Building a brand can be a daunting task, especially in the ultra-competitive markets of cosmetics and alcohol... but Cara Kamenev has taken on both with incredible success! Cara Kamenev is a co-founder and CEO of Thomas Ashbourne, the young, ready-to-sip canned and bottled craft cocktail brand that launched last year. Before joining Thomas Ashbourne, she was a rising star at L'Oreal Paris in the US for nearly 10 years where she served as Vice President of Brand Engagement, focusing on brand equity marketing, paid media and digital while also managing celebrity and brand ambassadors on global and local initiatives. Although she was incredibly successful, she felt it was time for a change (in her personal life at this time, she was going through a divorce and was raising her daughter on her own) - and the jump was huge - she was diving head first into a different category and was responsible for building an entire team and brand. It has been 10 years since Spring Breakers hit the big screen and Gaius and Jackson are looking back at its cultural impact at the time of its release and its relevancy today. Written and directed by Harmony Korine, the film stars James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine and follows four college-aged girls who go on spring break in St. Petersburg, Florida and meet an eccentric drug deal who helps them in a time of desperation that eventually leads to a descent into the wold of drugs, crime, and violence. The duo looks into the film's themes, imagery, performance and its polarizing response as something that can be viewed as objectifying to women while other view the film as a showcase of female empowerment. While she may be best known for her acting and singing, Vanessa Hudgens, is not new to entrepreneurship. The 34-year-old star, with 49 million Instagram followers, is behind Caliwater, a cactus water she said she drinks every morning. She also has a margarita line, which she co-created with Ashley Benson and Rosario Dawson for Thomas Ashbourne. She first launched Know Beauty in 2021 with singer, Madison Beer. It was a somewhat complicated concept in which users used a DNA kit, which was used to pair them with personalized products matched to their skin type and concerns. Hudgens admits it didn't land and decided to go back to the drawing board entirely. Yesterday, she re-launched Know Beauty as a completely different brand. This time, it is sold on Amazon and has just one product, the $35 Glacial Bay Clay Mask. Hudgens partnered on the formulation with Cosmos Labs founder and CEO Mary Berry. And she noted in the conversation that the brand will continue to be "mask-forward." In the first Pop Edition of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, Hudgens discusses what motivated the reinvention, what makes Know's starting SKU different and why Amazon made sense as a launch retail partner.
Harmony Korine made the A24 version of MIAMI VICE... ...and still the world was not satisfied. Including your hosts! Mainly the one from Florida who does not recognize the rap success from his home area as portrayed by James Franco. Meanwhile another host lives in fear of the alternate version of this film that stars Emma Watson. This film does not exist and so he remains forever grateful to Ashley Benson and is checking out her latest work as a cam girl in ALONE AT NIGHT. As an act of appreciation and for podcast research of course. Our final host just feels like he was born in the wrong place and time. A wistful episode for SPRING BREAKERS as we begin our new season celebrating 1983-2013 and how old and perverted we increasingly are. Enjoy! Welcome to “Not Couple Goals” where co-hosts Allie Nelson and Tyler McCarthy do a deep dive into a different ridiculous romantic thriller from the vantage point of their long-term relationship. Allie, a TV writer/producer and actress, has an affinity for romantic thrillers, the more salacious the better. Tyler, an entertainment reporter and critic, often finds himself drawn in despite his better judgment. Join them as they explore all the ways it's possible to love too hard… like WAY too hard. In this episode, Allie and Tyler learn about the dangers (or benefits?) of trespassing with the 2022 movie “Private Property,” starring Ashley Benson, Shiloh Fernandez, Logan Miller, Frank Whaley and Jay Pharoah, written and directed by Chadd Harbold, based on the 1960 film of the same name. Listen as they discuss the confusing absence of sexual chemistry, the muddled motivations behind the film's nefarious plot and whether the word “brunch” is self explanatory. Is it possible to fall in marriage-ruining love in an afternoon? Tune in to find out! Special thanks to Mallory Johns for the introduction music. To see more of our hosts, check out Tyler's writing at USA Insider and Allie's at Parade and Business Insider! It's another DRAFT NIGHT you sons of bitches! We close out "musicians who also happen to be ok at acting" month with the Harmony Korine directed film from 2012, Spring Breakers starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens (not the focus of the theme...even though she could be), Selena Gomez (the focus of the theme, no matter what Jeff says), Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine. Oh yea, Gucci Mane makes an appearance as well! Tune in to find out what the boob counter is at so far on the pod, why Jeff hates artsy films (if you've listened in the past, this is nothing new) and why James Franco with dreads is damn near perfect. Today we are joined by the one, the only, Ashley Benson! Actress/Tastemaker/Entrepreneur-extraordinaire, you might know her as Hanna Marin from Pretty Little Liars. Ashley further proves my theory that all the best celebs love perfume; she just launched her own line, Ash by Ashley Benson. We discuss the first two fragrance launches in the collection and the personal inspiration and stories behind both, how she tailors her aesthetic to whatever city she's in, her PLL days and what Hanna would have worn, and what it's like being in perhaps the most extroverted career as someone who is naturally shy. Isolated, lost in the sauce, craving affection and connection? This isn't another night of your diary. It's a new modern fairytale and horror-comedy "The Loneliest Boy in the World." Joining me to make your Halloweekend spookier than your DMs (or lack thereof) are the stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Max Harwood. In spirit of the movie and the despair of our black mirror lives, I chat with the mid-20s actors about: disillusion of IG followers, "My job is to be an actor, not a social media influencer," the dichotomy of social media allowing connection and utter isolation, not fitting in, and community. The movie also stars Ashley Benson, Evan Ross, is in theaters and on demand, and is retro, fun, and twisted, so hop on it. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/taylor-ferber/support
Fitness and nutrition are often lumped together. In the diet-focused culture that we live in, many "experts" have you believing you need to workout a certain way and then eat a certain way or you won't see any health improvements. But is over exercising and under-eating the best course of action? (hint...absolutely not!) Today I talk with fitness expert Ashley Benson, CPT who helps bring a fresh perspective on working out by showing us that perfection is overrated and eating a dang cookie is OK! In this episode we talk about: - Myths in the fitness industry, specifically related to women. - How to get kids interested in movement so that they establish long-term habits. - How to get started with fitness if it has been awhile or you're brand new. - The "all or nothing" mentality and why this is a huge problem in fitness.
