National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company delivering the Government's National Broadband Plan (NBP), has today announced that over 125,000 premises across Ireland are now connected to its high-speed fibre broadband network. There are now 361,101 homes, farms and businesses that have been passed with NBI fibre out of the 564,000 currently included in the NBP Intervention Area. People living and working in the rollout area can connect to high-speed fibre broadband on the NBI Network through a choice of 50 different broadband providers actively selling on the network. Everyone can enter their Eircode on the NBI website, www.nbi.ie, to see if their home or business is included in the rollout, as well as seeing the broadband providers offering high-speed fibre connectivity in their area. As the rollout phase of NBI's network nears completion, take-up rates continue to grow. NBI has now completed the preliminary survey works required for the entire Intervention Area and the rollout is on track to pass over 420,000 premises by the end of this year. More than 125,000 premises have now connected to the NBI Network, with the average take-up rate of 35% well ahead of projections and international comparisons. The connection rate surpasses 50% in areas where the NBI Network has been live for longer. Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications, Media and Sport, Patrick O'Donovan TD, said: "This milestone underlines the Government's commitment to ensuring that every corner of the State has access to world-class digital infrastructure. With over 125,000 connections now live under the National Broadband Plan, we are seeing the benefits of this investment throughout rural Ireland. "Whether it's supporting remote working, helping local businesses expand, or giving students new ways to learn, high-speed broadband is transforming lives and unlocking new opportunities for communities across the country." David McCourt, Chairman, National Broadband Ireland said: "The National Broadband Plan is providing rural Ireland with the same access to digital opportunities as our cities. With 125,000 premises already connected to the NBI Network, this project is making a tangible difference to rural areas that have been anticipating reliable, high-speed connectivity. "In every decision that NBI has taken to deliver the Irish Government's National Broadband Plan, we've provided a blueprint for other nations to follow on their path to full fibre connectivity and that includes our unique approach to educating consumers and creating demand for services on our network." Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: "This is a proud moment for NBI and communities across Ireland as 125,000 homes, farms and businesses are now connected to our world-class fibre broadband network. "These connections are already making a significant difference - enabling remote working, online learning, digital entrepreneurship, and so much more. The demand is strong, and we're focused on maintaining momentum and delivering access to even more people this year." In this episode, Media Pressure Podcast Season One host Julie Murray explores the relentless search for answers in her sister Maura Murray's disappearance—one that continues two decades later. With time pressing forward, Maura's father, Fred Murray, refuses to wait, leading the charge for answers as new leads emerge and old theories resurface. Julie introduces private investigator Lou Barry, a former Chief of Police, who breaks down the complex process of filtering truth from misinformation in Maura's case. One lead involving a man with a violent past takes us deeper into the unknown, while another search effort in Massachusetts turns up empty. From an old computer hard drive to a review of early investigative reports, Julie sifts through the details that could shift the narrative. We also hear from "June," a rare firsthand witness who interacted with Maura just before she vanished, shedding a different light on those final days. Despite the heartbreak of unanswered questions, the Murrays press forward, determined to uncover the truth—because the tides may rise and fall, but the search for Maura will never stop. Anyone with information about Maura Murray's disappearance is asked to call The New Hampshire State Police Cold Case Unit at 603-223-3648. Mary & Blake discuss everything YOU had say about to Outlander episode 7.09 - Unfinished Business. In this episode, listeners share feedback on the return to Scotland, new actress as Jenny, pacing, and book-to-show changes. The hosts engage in lively discussions, sometimes playfully disagreeing. Plus we discuss the mystery about Midwestern "salads." Also in this episode: There were mixed opinions on the new actress playing Jenny, with some feeling she was a softer version of the character, while others thought she did a good job. Many listeners enjoyed the emotional reunion scenes between the Murrays, especially the conversations between young Ian and his parents. Some viewers found the reason for Claire leaving Scotland to go to America (to help Lord John's nephew) to be unconvincing or not well explained. There were comments about the pacing feeling a bit off, with the show moving quickly from Scotland to the next location. Listeners had differing opinions on Roger's internal monologues, with some finding them abrupt and unnecessary. The surprise appearances at the door, particularly Brian Fraser opening for Roger, were highlights for many viewers. There was a humorous discussion about the "salads" that are common in the Midwest, which are not actually salads but more like gelatin and fruit dishes. Antonio and Ward dive into the vibrant pages of James and Karla Murray's new book "Store Front NYC: Photographs of the City's Independent Shops, Past and Present" on this episode of Street Shots. The Murrays recount their serendipitous journey, starting from documenting the graffiti art scene in the late '90s to capturing the rapid transformations of NYC's iconic mom-and-pop stores. The book, a testament to the city's cultural evolution, captures the spirit of neighborhoods spread across the five boroughs. The duo discusses the challenges of capturing these ever-evolving spaces and the poignant stories of the store owners. The conversation takes a deeper turn as James and Karla reflect on the emotional ties New Yorkers have with these corner stores, especially the immigrants who found both livelihood and community in them. With many of these shops now only memories, the Murrays hope their work sparks a renewed appreciation for these unique, irreplaceable facets of New York's identity. Their photographs stand as both a celebration and a call to preserve the city's soul. The book "Store Front" will be available on September 19th and can be preordered now at Amazon. ----more---- JAMES and KARLA MURRAY - Website, YouTube, Instagram, "Store Front" from Prestel (images courtesy James & Karla Murray) Store Front NYC: Photographs of the City's Independent Shops, Past and Present (Richard's Barber Shop, Nostrand Avenue near Park Place, Crown Heights, 2004. ©James and Karla Murray) (Katy's Candy Store, Tompkins Avenue near Vernon Avenue, Bedford-Stuyvesant, 2004. ©James and Karla Murray) (CBGB, Bowery at Bleecker Street, East Village, 2005. ©James and Karla Murray) (D. Kerry Abner is the visionary founder behind Manhattan Grey, a revolutionary haircare line specifically designed for people with grey hair. As a military brat born in the Bronx, New York, Kerry's upbringing took him on a diverse journey across different cultures, including living in England, Japan, and Florida. This broad exposure nurtured his passion for creativity and a desire to explore unique paths. With a strong background in marketing, Kerry honed his skills in the music industry, working on global marketing campaigns for music genres like hip hop and R&B. However, it was his personal experience with grey hair that sparked a new entrepreneurial pursuit. Starting to notice his grey hair at a young age, Kerry initially struggled with feelings of insecurity, which led him to explore various hair products in the market. Finding a void in the marketplace for products that catered specifically to grey hair's unique needs, Kerry had an "aha" moment. Inspired by the iconic hair grease brand, Murrays, he envisioned a clean, upscale formula that would empower individuals to embrace their grey hair confidently. As the CEO and founder of Manhattan Grey, Kerry has taken on the challenge of building a brand that challenges the norms and empowers people to embrace their individuality. With a passionate spirit and an eye for innovative marketing strategies, Kerry is on a mission to make Manhattan Grey a symbol of empowerment and self-expression for generations to come. In my interview with him, he discusses the challenges he faces, including cash flow and the importance of seeking investment to take his brand to the next level. Kerry also shares valuable insights into the product development process, including how he utilized essential oils and clean formulations to cater to the needs of individuals with grey hair. His approach to marketing through influencers and digital platforms provides a valuable lesson in reaching and resonating with a diverse audience. Additionally, Kerry's determination to challenge societal norms and redefine the narrative around grey hair will inspire entrepreneurs to pursue meaningful ventures that create positive impacts on society. Listen in to learn more. Key Takeaways 1. Embrace the long-term game of building a brand, knowing that success takes dedication and perseverance. 2. Challenge cultural perceptions with products and narratives that promote inclusivity and confidence; like Manhattan Grey's impact on attitudes towards grey hair. 3. Conduct in-depth market research to shape your product and address real customer needs, using surveys and feedback to inform development. 4. Leverage digital marketing and influencers to reach a wider audience and build brand awareness effectively. 5. Pursue strategic partnerships and investments to scale your business and expand your product line. 6. Stay authentic and true to your purpose throughout your entrepreneurial journey, knowing that your unique perspective can create a meaningful impact. Timestamps [00:01:52] Kerry Abner introduces himself as the founder of Manhattan Grey, a haircare line specifically designed for people with grey hair. [00:10:34] The shifting cultural perceptions around grey hair; while men are often celebrated for their distinguished grey hair, women may face ageism and insecurity due to societal beauty standards. [00:14:17] Kerry shares his journey of product development and finding the right formula for Manhattan Grey. [00:17:16] Kerry's intentional marketing approach; using surveys to gather feedback from potential customers, leveraging influencers to promote his product, and focusing on a clean, vegan, and upscale image for the brand. [00:23:11] The importance of being prepared for the long-term commitment of running a product-based business. [00:24:41] Future plans for Manhattan Grey. Kerry's plan to seek investment, expand the product line, and potentially entering the retail space by partnering with larger retailers. Quotes 1. "This is a long-term game. This is not something that you're gonna jump into in the first, second, third year and cash out. Approach entrepreneurship with the mindset that you're going to dedicate a few years of your life into it. This is not a quick fix." 2. "I think men get a little bit more celebrated for a distinguished grey hair, salt and pepper look versus women. In 1949 the nine women of the Arthur Murray Girls baseball team took the field against the all-male squad from the Patchogue Athletics. By that year, the Murrays had been together as a semi-pro outfit for some time. Formed out of the sandlots and playgrounds of Queens, they grew under the tutelage of New York Times sportswriter Mike Strauss to become the nucleus of a league that by the late 1940s became the American Girls Baseball Conference. On today's episode, historian and Suffolk County Community College librarian Fabio Montella presents his research into the Murrays, their game with Patchogue, and their full, storied history. Although based out of Cedarhurst in Nassau County, the women traveled a loop that saw them taking the field against the likes of the Glen Cove Clovers, the Perth Amboy Cardinalettes, and the Stamford Nutmegs. Fabio also introduces us to Gloria Del Percio, the last living member of the Arthur Murray Girls. The story of 20th century women's baseball has been popularized by the movie A League of Their Own, but women had their own leagues all across the country. The Murray Girls encapsulate that story at the local level, both as a team and as individual women who loved to play the game. What led me to this interview: Kyler Murray was the first person in history to be drafted in the first rounds of both the MLB and NFL drafts. He is the starting QB for the Arizona cardinals. He won the Heisman in college along with an endless list of other athletic awards. My husband was the area scout with the A's and so I had the opportunity to meet Kyler and his family in Oakland right after he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2018. I spent a couple of days with Kyler, his parents, and his older sister and brother. I walked away from that weekend, thinking about what an incredible family the Murrays are. I amazed at how their entire family handled the intense pressure of signing a professional baseball contract, the press, and all the attention. Kyler, at the time, was a college student and while he had been in the spotlight for years, there is a different level of intensity when you leave your home town, sign a pro contract, sit at press conferences, go through physicals, review contracts, all while every single person around you is watching you so closely. People are watching Kyler's siblings and parents as well. What everyone saw was a cohesive family who was all there to help and support one another. They were gracious, grateful, professional, happy, genuine and I had an absolute blast with them! Our time together was something I thought back to often. How does a mom raise three children who become adults that are so connected, supportive of one another? I knew Missy Murray was a legendary Momma with lessons to share! So when I started to make my dream list of mommas I wanted to speak with for the podcast, Missy was at the top of my list! Missy shared the following great insights while we chatted on Who Is Your Momma! The love that Missy has for her three kids oozes out of her every minute! She is the heart of her family and she has a close relationship with each of her children. There is so much love in the Murray family. Missy said that the best part of her day was when she picked her kids up from school everyday. I found this to be sweet and as a mom with little kids, I know just how she felt! Missy described her kids as the highlights of her life, which is a perfect way for this sports momma to describe her children. Sports brought this family together and so much of their lives involved sports. Hours spent at practices, games and training, but their family remained the most important thing for all of them. Day in and day out, Missy, the matriarch, the heart of the family, made sure that her kids needs were met. She encourages parents to always be sure that their kids are emotionally and mentally okay. The close relationship Missy has with her kids today reflect how she was always tuned into her kids. Missy's final piece of advice was to be spiritual and to make spirituality an important part of your life. Missy is filled with love and gives so much unconditional love to her family! https://whoisyourmomma.com/insight-from-missy-murray/

Four people have been attacked by a lone man with a knife on Auckland's North Shore, in what police are calling a traumatic but isolated incident. The four stabbing victims have moderate injuries, while the offender is in custody and helping police with their investigation. Police were initially called to Murrays Bay just before midday. But the attacker then made his way to neighbouring Mairangi Bay, with people running to escape as he approached. Eventually he was taken down by a member of the public - with a crutch. Checkpoint reporter Katie Todd has the details.
An Auckland mother has described her terror after being told to pick up her kids and run as a man wielding a knife approached Mairangi Bay this morning. Four people sustained moderate injuries in the random attack, which started in Murray's Bay before spilling to neighbouring Mairangi Bay. The man is now in custody and assisting police. Katie Todd and Nick Monro report.
