Meet Pot Roast! He weighs 75 pounds, is around 4 years old, and is one tall drink of water! Goofy guy Pot Roast was adopted from us in February 2022. Pot Roast is back with us now and he is an absolute favorite of our stronger dog walkers. He LOVES his walks, never jumps on people, and has happily lived with older kids. Pot Roast is starting to show some signs of kennel stress by running in circles and wanting more attention than our staff can give him. He understands basic commands such as sit, shake, and paw, and is food motivated. We think he'll be a very willing learner. Pot Roast is neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative. Because we are currently at full capacity, we are offering $40.00 reduced adoption fees for our adoptable dogs. Stop by Berrien County Animal Control (1400 South Euclid Avenue, Benton Harbor, MI 49022) on Mondays-Thursdays (9:00-5:30) and Fridays (9:00-2:30) if you would like to meet Pot Roast. If you can't make it during these hours, call the shelter at 269-927-5648 to see about scheduling an out-of-hours appointment. If you have other dogs in your home, please bring them to the meet-and-greet (with up-to-date vaccines and dog license) and plan to drive them home separately if you choose to adopt. Pot Roast is a wonderful guy and deserves to find his place in the world! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Cabin is presented by the Wisconsin Counties Association and this week we're featuring Shawano County; https://bit.ly/3X0MLBnCampfire Conversation: Eric and Ana tuck into the Cabin and prepare you for the wonders of Wisconsin comfort foods - those tasty treats and dishes that bring warmth and fill you up. They talk about the foods themselves like casseroles, pot pies, poutine, mac & cheese (lots of cheese), potato dishes, pasties, chili, and more. Shout-outs are given to some favorite spots for comfort foods around Wisconsin, including Monty's Blue Plate Diner in Madison and Delta Diner in the North Woods in Bayfield County (both for their meat loaf among other dishes!); places like Real Chili in Milwaukee for chili; Mac's and their multiple locations around Wisconsin for incredible mac & cheese combos; Shepherd's Pie from places like Kitty O'Reilly's in Sturgeon Bay, Stone Arch in Appleton, Dublin Square in La Crosse, O'Donoghue's in Elm Grove, or County Clare in Milwaukee; plus Italian pastas, Cornish pasties, plus some key burgers and pizza around the state get highlighted. Desserts are comfort food too, and places like Norske Nook, Honeypie, Hubbard Avenue Diner, and Stockholm Pie (among many others) are famous for pies - and that's just one dessert example. Wisconsin's bevy of supper clubs are great places for big meals involving our favorite comfort foods as a state, they are highly recommended for the full experience! "I see life differently than most people," Aislynn muses, stressing the importance of staying in one's lane, "I stay in my lane." Amidst laughter and revelations, they highlight the symbiotic balance of life, "You fed it and it fed you," a connection mirroring the bonds they've forged. As the episode unfolds, they acknowledge the wisdom gained from tossing ideas into the mix, "We throw a lot of shit at the wall." Got leftovers? You can take those holiday roasts and easily transform them into quesadillas for a quick dinner or easy lunch. Anne talks through how to make them, along with a lazy way to make caramelized onions in case your leftover roast didn't have any (or enough) cooked alongside it. The printable recipe is linked above, but if you're making your grocery list here's what you'll need: Meat/Cold: Leftover pot roast (or other meat), shredded quesadilla cheese Produce: Onion (or other preferred veggies) Inside aisles: Flour tortillas, cooking spray or oil Other recipes mentioned: If you have leftover ham, substitute it for the chicken in this crockpot chowder.

Originally founded to make grilling less intimidating, this hobby turned passion turned business started out as a blog to connect grill enthusiasts across the country and provide a community among them. Launched in 2020, Marine Corps veteran Greg Fischer and Navy Sailor Ben Kreple realized that all the tips, tricks, and recipes out there focused on sauces and rubs that used a ton of artificial ingredients. Wanting something more wholesome without a lack of flavor, Greg & Ben set out to make the kind of products that barbecue enthusiasts everywhere would feel good about reaching for and be even more excited to chow down on. Proudly made in Wisconsin, Burn Pit BBQ sauces, rubs, and seasonings are made with all-natural ingredients without any cholesterol, MSG or corn syrup. The chefs and grill masters behind the recipes painstakingly selected every ingredient not only for better quality but also for the way it helps achieve the ultimate juicy grilled-to-perfection creations. But delicious sauces aren't the only things that make Burn Pit BBQ smoke the competition. Make sure to subscribe and enable ALL notificati...

On this episode of Huntavore, Nick has a bucket list chat with food writer and Food Network personality, Simon Majumdar. Simon lays out some knowledge and history of venison, including how venison has been viewed in the UK and how it differs here in the US. Discussions on Tikka Masala, using yogurt as a marinade, and a food game called Good, Better, Best featuring a winter favorite, Pot Roast. Pour yourself a dark pint, and settle in on this episode of Huntavore. Nick is joined by Simon Majumdar, food writer, podcaster, and Food Network personality. Simon has been around the world, tasting food, understanding where it comes from, and how things are prepared. In fact food is the language of his family. “What have you been eating?” instead of the usual “how are you?” Growing up in the United Kingdom, Simon had the experience of enjoying several types of deer; muntjac, roe, and red stag to name a few. Given the system of how game is managed over there, you can purchase some from your butcher or market. Here in the US, it is a different story. Simon shows a real appreciation for hunting and fishing, because it is an effective tool for managing the landscape, and a more personally important reason, the wonderful wild meat. A large takeaway that Nick got from this discussion with Simon is that the US is quite narrow in the way venison is prepared versus how it is prepared in the UK and in Europe. Steaks, Straps, and burger reign supreme in what comes out of processors today. Simon is encouraged that North American hunters are beginning to venture out past the normal smoked backstrap and trying new dishes. Tradition is important, and old dishes need to be made, but can we make room for new traditions to be made? Check out the Sportsmen's Empire Podcast Network for more awesome content!
