Necktie party for Pancho
This week, ADA Peter Stone's fast and loose lifestyle during his younger days when he was still a baseball player comes screaming into the world of our SVUs. What happens when a main cast member is the lead suspect in the case the SVUs are investigating? Well, that largely depends on the showrunner and the according professionalism with which they execute the production of a television show. In this case, we're watching an episode from Season 20, and the results are... Kevin Cole is an artist, a sculptor, a muralist, creative, Teacher of the Year, philanthropist, self-believer, death threat survivor, and an incredibly genuine human being. His works are featured in 5,000 collections around the world, including the Atlanta Airport and City Hall, and pursuing his dream has led him to places he never thought he'd see. Kevin describes his art as sound boards for human experiences, which is why I'm so drawn to them. They capture moments in time and tell a real story. They're thought provoking. And they're about people and their stories, which is exactly what we're doing here. When Atlanta hosted the Olympics in 1996, it was Kevin who was tapped by the Coca-Cola company to create a 15-story mural that would introduce Atlanta to the world. It's truly an iconic piece of work. You can see a picture of it here. In his own words, he describes what that process was like and why it had to be completed in a unique way and the challenges that arose. He also shares why he credits his mom for becoming an artist, reveals what it was like during the beginning of his artist's journey, what it looked and felt like, and ultimately how he carved a life for himself with his creations and built his business. Later, he shares his creative process and how he taps into creator mode, sheds some light on the intersection of commercialization and art, a wild story about how he narrowly missed 9/11, how to get out of a creative slump, and finally, his realest talk. Thank you, Kevin, for the time, the conversation, and everything you shared. All love baby. You can follow him on Instagram @kevincole2378, check out his website kevincoleart.com to see more of his work, and if you enjoy this episode, please drop a rating and a review wherever you listen to podcasts, and share it with two other people. I recently spent a week in Chicago with my good friend, Amanda Nadig, making this quilt together. Since I had recently bought a small handheld recorder, we thought it'd be fun to take you behind the scenes day by day as we're making this quilt encountering creative obstacles, when things aren't turning out our way and how we navigate through this particular project together. In part one, Amanda and I shared details about this particular commission, the kind of prep work we did to get ready for our week of sewing side by side in Chicago. We had an in-depth reflection on something that was becoming more and more fascinating to us: the way that by working with someone else, it forces us to create this kind of specialized language around the project, one that you might not even have to articulate to yourself but in the company of another artist, you have to put abstract ideas into words. So, if you haven't heard that part of this documentary project, yet, I encourage you to go back and listen to the previous episode and then join us here again for part two. In this part, Amanda and I strategize about quilting: ① how we choose an overall quilting design ② the important relationship between light and color ③ the body is a measuring tool We close this conversation with reflections and tips that we hope support you in seeking out your own creative collaborations.Click here to see images of this collaboration quilt⤷ Learn more about THE QUILTY NOOK here ⤷ Get your free NOOK trial here⤷ Enter here for your chance to win a FREE YEAR on the NOOK!
In this two-part mini-documentary: Amanda Nadig and I take you behind the scenes of our latest collaboration. You'll get to accompany us on the creative process behind a quilt built out of a client's retired collection of high-end silk neckties. I'd recently bought a small handheld recorder, and we thought it'd be fun to give you a play-by-play as we're making this quilt, encountering creactive obstacles when things aren't turning out the way we'd hoped, and how we navigate through this particular project together. Along the way we share some helpful tips and meaningful reflections designed to get you thinking about how you may want to incorporate artistic collaboration in your own creative practice. In this conversation, we discuss:① the curious parameters of this project② things we learned about working with silk③ how we've developed a special language working together⤷ Learn more about THE QUILTY NOOK here ⤷ Get your free NOOK trial here⤷ Enter here for your chance to win a FREE YEAR on the NOOK!

Believe it or not, A Bit of Culture host Kam Raslan was actually a very fashionable person. Well, at least that's what he would like us to believe, especially when he decides to regale his fellow guests, BFM News producer Dhanya Nair and Tatler's Digital Editor Sim Wie Boon with the history of the necktie. In between that, Dhanya starts the show by talking about the possibilities of human beings living forever (thanks to technology) and whether that's something that we would want? Afterwards, Sim Wie Boon gets the group (and us) to wonder whether we need to have an opinion on everything.
Welcome to Mysteries to Die For and this Toe Tag.I am TG Wolff and am here with Jack, my piano player and producer. This is normally a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you at the heart of mystery, murder, and mayhem. Today is a bonus episode we call a Toe Tag. It is the first chapter from a fresh release in the mystery, crime, and thriller genre.Today's featured release is 25 to Life by John Lansing. 25 to Life was released from White Street Publishing and is promoted by Partners In Crime Tours and is available from AMAZON LINK and other book retailers.TG Wolff Review25 to Life is a PI Mystery and is also characterized as Noir Fiction and Crime Thriller. Jack Bertolino is back for his fifth case. A law student is dead. Her crime? Working on a Project for the Innocent case on behalf of Carl Forbes. What Gloria Millhouse finds? Well, it stinks. Before she can move on it, someone moves on her. Now Jack is on the case, looking for the scum behind the shiny badges of the LAPD SWAT team to find the answers.Bottom line: 25 to Life is for you if you like classic hard-boiled PIs who punch first and ask questions later and do the dirty work that the good cops can't.Strengths of the story. The set-up is classic PI. A bright, talent law student is killed in a murder made to look like an accident. (I don't consider this a spoiler b/c if it was an accident, there wouldn't be a story.) She's connected. Her father is a renowned attorney and political supporter who asked his friend the Los Angeles mayor for help. That help comes in the form of Jack Bertolino, former NYPD inspector turned private investigator. I really like this set-up because it gave Jack a legit reason to dive into the case and the backing to go places and ask the questions he needed to.The pacing is excellent. At no point did my attention wander or did I get bored. I got a little anxious a few times, but that was a good thing. This is Jack's fifth case. I have not read the prior ones and this one stood solidly alone. Lansing did an excellent job of briefly providing any needed back story without providing a full page synopsis of the prior cases. It is obvious that Jack's team were in the previous books as they were fully developed characters, comfortable in their own skin.Where the story fell short of ideal. There wasn't a place it fell short of ideal, per se. There were a few grammar typos, such as “ in the wrong place, but those were minor and did not detract from the story. While I thought the final confrontation with the Big Bad was excellent in terms of action and excitement, I did roll my eyes at the set up. It was the only time that I thought Jack acted out of character. He is brave and aggressive, yes, but he is smart, manipulating situations to put the odds in his favor. This time, he chose to run into hell carrying a water bottle. At least he put a vest on. This is obv my pet peeve. I bet most of you hard boiled PI lovers will love it just the way it is.About John Lansingjohnlansing.comJohn Lansing is the author of four thrillers featuring Jack Bertolino—The Devil's Necktie, Blond Cargo, Dead Is Dead, and The Fourth Gunman—as well as the true-crime non-fiction book Good Cop Bad Money, written with former NYPD Inspector Glen Morisano. He has been a writer and supervising producer on Walker, Texas Ranger, the co-executive producer of the ABC series Scoundrels, and co-wrote two MOWs for CBS. The...

Escucharemos las bandas sonoras que escribió Bernstein para películas como “VALOR DE LEY”, “LOS COMANCHEROS”, “EL CAMINO DE LA VENGANZA”, “LOS HIJOS DE KATIE ELDER”, “LA BATALLA DE LAS COLINAS DEL WHISHY” o “WILD WILD WEST” y terminaremos con una especie de suite que hemos hecho con algunos de sus temas para su saga de “LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS”. 00h 00’00” True grit – Elmer Bernstein 00h 02’06” Presentación 00h 03’56” Cabecera 00h 04’32” 1971 EL GRAN JACK 00h 04’32” Main theme 00h 09’03” Little Jake again – Going home 00h 20’03” 1973 LA SOGA DE LA HORCA 00h 20’03” Main title 00h 22’12” Cemetery 00h 26’34” Necktie party 00h 30’21” 1957 CENIZAS DE ODIO 00h 30’21” Prelude 00h 33’54” Love and justice 00h 38’35” 1965 LA BATALLA DE LA COLINAS DEL WHISKY 00h 38’35” Overture 00h 41’56” The battle of whiskey hills 00h 45’49” Hallelujah trail 00h 48’15” 1958 MÁS RÁPIDO QUE EL VIENTO 00h 48’15” Tony’s smile - Saddle the wind – Lover’s quarrel - Going to town 00h 52’38” 1961 LOS COMANCHEROS 00h 52’38” Main title 00h 54’13” Attack 00h 58’52” 1968 EL CAMINO DE LA VENGANZA 00h 58’52” Prologue 01h 01’59” Fast talkin’ man 01h 05’25” 1976 EL ÚLTIMO PISTOLERO 01h 05’25” Main title 01h 09’41” Ride 01h 12’22” Shootout 01h 15’42” 1965 LOS CUATRO HIJOS DE KATIE ELDER 01h 15’42” Main theme 01h 17’56” The sons of Katie Elder – Ernie Sheldon 01h 20’26” Memories of Clearwater 01h 22’57” 1957 CAZADOR DE FORAJIDOS 01h 22’57” Prelude – A stranger in town 01h 26’04” Kip’s half-injun 01h 29’33” Good Indian 01h 32’25” 1974 THE TRIAL OF BILLY JACK 01h 32’25” How I need you – Michelle Wilson 01h 35’02” Billy and Jean reunion 01h 39’00” 1969 VALOR DE LEY 01h 39’00” True grit – Glen Campbell 01h 40’56” Runaway races away – The chase on their way 01h 44’47” Mattie and Little Blackie 01h 45’50” 1999 WILD WILD WEST 01h 45’50” Main title 01h 48’45” Of Rita, rescue and revenge 01h 54’23” 1960 LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 01h 54’23” Main title 01h 56’27” Worst shot 01h 59’26” Calvera’s return 02h 01’55” El Toro 02h 05’17” Petra’s declaration 02h 08’01” I can give you anything but 02h 10’18” 1966 EL REGRESO DE LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 02h 10’18” Main theme 02h 12’45” Defeat 02h 16’04” 1969 LA FURIA DE LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 02h 16’04” Main title 02h 19’22” Father and son 02h 21’11” Cantina rushed 02h 24’53” Guitar source 02h 27’35” 1972 EL DESAFÍO DE LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 02h 27’35” Finale

Chris Chandler is a maker of new things out of two things, out of three things, out of four — one of the world's consummate collaborators, sharing tracks with luminaries, fusing the verse he inhabits with the chords and choruses of artists such as Dan Bern, Jim Infantino, Peter Yarrow, Anne Feeney and Paul Benoit. I've known Chris a bit over the years, and years ago shared stages with him here and there, and I've always been moved and awed by what he manages to do with a pair of vocal cords and the truth. But I've never heard his full story or gotten under the hood with the head that makes it all work. Carl Greer, PhD, PsyD, is a retired clinical psychologist and Jungian analyst, a businessman, and shamanic practitioner, author, and a philanthropist, funding over 60 charities and more than 850 past and current Greer Scholars. He has taught at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago and been on staff at the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being. He received his PhD from Columbia University and was on their faculty teaching finance and management in their graduate school of business. He is also the author of a memoir: The Necktie and The Jaguar: A Memoir to Help You Change Your Story and Find Fulfillment in Your Life. In our conversation, we talk about the following: Why and how he switched careers as the president of an oil and gas company to become a clinical psychologist, Jungian analyst, and shamanic practitioner. What synchronicity is and how you can create more of it in your life. His work as a shamanic practitioner and how you can use shamanic practices in your life to connect with your Spirit and create a vision for your life. How you can find meaning and guidance in your dreams. How to avoid burnout, compassion fatigue, and stay motivated. What your mythopoetic self is and how you can connect to it through nature. During our interview, I actually lost connection with him over Zoom about 18 minutes into the conversation. After about 10 minutes we eventually reconnected, regained connection, and restarted the conversation. Carl looked for the deeper meaning in that experience and remarked, “Life throws us curves and sometimes we can't overcome them. But sometimes we hang in there and things change.” This is a good life lesson that comes across throughout our conversation and during his memoir: The Necktie and The Jaguar: A Memoir to Help You Change Your Story and Find Fulfillment in Your Life. DISAPPEARANCE: Police previously said Pratt was last seen leaving the Marlborough Hotel on Smith Street at 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 6. The family says Pratt was in a bar at the Marlborough Hotel in downtown Winnipeg on the night he disappeared and may have gone to another hotel with the woman in the photo. Pratt apparently used his cell phone to send a photo of himself to his mother on the night he disappeared. Family members say that phone was found downtown. Now the family is trying to identify the woman who also appears in that photo as she may have clues to Pratt's whereabouts. “We always have hope that he's going to walk in the door, but holding that hope is what makes this never go away for us.”Colten's MomMISSING:Colten Stephen Pratt | Colten Pratt (missingkidsalert.ca)IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION:Winnipeg Police Service | 204-986-6222 | https://www.winnipeg.ca/police/Missing Kids Canada | 1-866-543-8477 | https://missingkids.ca/en/ANONYMOUS:Jasmine Castillo, Podcaster | 903-883-6103 | https://www.facebook.com/handsoffmypodcastYou can leave an message through FB messenger, and I will relay to Colten's FamilyEDUCATE/SUPPORT/DONATE: #coltenpratt - Twitter Search / Twitter What does Two-Spirit mean? | QueerEvents | 2021 | https://www.queerevents.ca/two-spirit/two-spirit-and-queer-indigenous8 Things You Should Know About Two Spirit People | Indian Country Today | Sep 13, 2018 | https://indiancountrytoday.com/archive/8-misconceptions-things-know-two-spirit-people THE CANADIAN PRESS | Necktie campaign raises awareness for missing men | Necktie campaign raises awareness for missing men | Winnipeg Sun Beaded ties | Beaded Tie campaign brings awareness of missing and murdered indigenous men and boys | https://portageonline.com/articles/beaded-tie-campaign-brings-awareness-of-missing-and-murdered-indigenous-men-and-boys Expanding the conversation on MMIMB | Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men & Boys | MMIMB20220619.pdf (equitableeducation.ca) | First Stories - Two Spirited by Sharon A. I'm joined by filmmaking duo JOSH PIKOVSKY and JORDAN TETEWSKY (Hannah Ha Ha) who have challenged me to watch the disturbingly moist 2013 Alexsei German film HARD TO BE A GOD. The only thing that could be MORE fun than watching a remarkably dense, disgusting, three-hour Russian antifilm about a bunch of alien sh*t perverts is listening to a three hour discussion led by a gaggle of severely brain-damaged goofballs trying to make sense of it all without doing a vom! We get into which one of the Beatles is the most innocent, Jordan can't keep his shirt on and makes some shocking confessions, and I teach the boys about milk parties. After dark, we get into The American Friend, Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs, American Movie, Mutual Appreciation, Z, Norma Ray, Harlan County USA, Ear Ache, Alex Kavutskiy's Guide to Filmmaking, I was There Too by Joey Izzo, Stilts by Dylan Holmes Williams, Yorgos Lanthimos films The Lobster, Dogtooth, Kinetta, Necktie, and Nimic, the Batman. and Serenity by Jack Dunphy.
