The Kelly Alexander Show is thrilled to welcome pop & dance music legends Niki Haris, Donna De Lory and DJ Tracy Young to the show! These three artists came to fame as part of Madonna's elite entourage of talent with Niki & Donna singing and dancing alongside Madonna from the 80's into the 2000's and Tracy spinning tunes for Madonna at parties and events including Madonna's own wedding to Guy Richie. Tracy even won a Grammy Award for her remix of Madonna's "I Rise." Niki, Donna and Tracy have decided to bring their collective talents together and have released a new song called "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" and will be releasing more songs and hopefully even an album! The women share their stories of what it was like working & touring with Madonna, why they decided to team up and release new music, the importance of their LGBTQIA+ fans, what it was like performing at award shows like the Grammys and they even share very personal thoughts about the passing of Madonna's beloved brother Christopher Ciccone. This is the first time these three artists have been interviewed together and we are ecstatic to have them as our guests on The Kelly Alexander Show. Enjoy the conversation and thank you for listening.

Niki Haris and Donna De Lory; You want to know about Madonna then this is the interview for you.Full interview on YouTube: (Please subscribe)https://youtu.be/LDF6CWJqT2YBut to be fair, to define Niki Haris and Donna De Lory only by their careers as backing vocalists for Madonna would do them a disservice. Both are distinguished artists in their own right, but certainly both would not deny that their work with Madonna helped their careers.Niki Haris, born in 1962, is the daughter of the Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Gene Harris. Haris contributed her remarkable voice to some of Madonna's most iconic albums, including "Like a Prayer" and "Erotica," showcasing her versatility across various musical genres, from pop to jazz and gospel.Donna De Lory, born in 1964, is a multifaceted artist and whose rich vocals and stage presence were integral to Madonna's sound, making her an indispensable part of the pop icon's musical journey. Her father worked closely with Jimmy Webb, and his work can be heard on some of the greatest tracks in pop history - Wichita Lineman, Pet Sounds amongst many other famous songs.Beyond her work with Madonna, De Lory has explored diverse genres, incorporating world music and devotional chanting into her solo projects. This interview is their story, the Madonna part makes up half of this interview, but to understand their opinions of their time with Madonna please listen all the way through and please subscribe. I Used To Be Cool: BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT Megamix “Even though they’ve had slightly different focuses, at the center of the 3 albums I’ve released to date has been the idea of connection - between yourself and others and yourself and your surroundings. Particularly when it comes to Pride, understanding the people who gave you the right to live your life are crucial. The new album, 'Fun City' that comes out in September is about the LGBTQ community, its past, present and future, and the incredible trailblazers we’ve had musically and politically. I’ve been writing about how our safe spaces are so important and how the LGBTQ community has stayed strong and creative in spite of what life has thrown at us. My goal with this album is to support, uplift and amplify the LGBTQ community and the people within it who are fighting for our future, supporting our present, and reminding us daily of our history and why we can’t take a second for granted.” - @brightlightx2 *Tracklisting: Sensation ft Jake Shears All In The Name ft Elton John Uh Huh! Kim and Luis continue their conversation with the infamous Niki Haris. We finally talk about the Blonde Ambition tour and Niki's feelings around that tour. What meeting Luis was like, and the journey working with Madonna and making beautiful music with fellow backup dancer/singer, Donna De Lory (plus, she SANGS).
We’re joined by the legendary Niki Haris. The daughter of Grammy nominated Jazz pianist Gene Harris, Niki grew up with dreams of being a history teacher (amazingly, she didn’t know she could sing) until her side-hustle singing gigs turned into a full-time career. We talk about the early days, including singing and dancing at Disneyland, her thoughts about “20 Feet From Stardom” and the audition that would turn into a 14 year adventure making Pop Music history.
This is a one-of-a-kind story about a one-of-a-kind girl. There is only ONE Niki Haris. She came into this music business with an expansive nature, ranging from dancer to actress to singing films and television shows to touring 18 years with Madonna to having hit dance records as a solo and featured artist and continues her work as a jazz singer in venues all over the globe. Her spirit soars as effortlessly as her voice. LISTEN to the healing words and life experiences of Niki Haris right now, right here on Backstories on Kai-Fi.
Stefan and Tony sit down with actor Guillermo Diaz (Party Girl, Half Baked; Nowhere, Weeds, Scandal) and discuss his many encounters with Madonna over the years -- including when he got to meet her on ELLEN. We also discuss the recent show featuring long-time Madonna back-up singers Niki Haris and Donna De Lory at C'mon Everybody in Brooklyn.

The latest Pop Shop Podcast is a special episode dedicated entirely to a discussion about some of our favorite female pop vocalists, and to help us, we’re joined by two very special guest co-hosts (and incredible singers): Donna De Lory and Niki Haris! The ladies rose to prominence in the late 1980s as background singers and dancers for Madonna, and worked with the Queen of Pop for many years. Now, De Lory and Haris are teaming up for their own collaborative album. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
While suffering from a broken foot, Paul checks in with his old friend Ryan Brown - drummer extraordinaire and current skin beater for Dweezil Zappa's band (the name of which we're not actually printing here because there's some controversy about it - check out the WTF episode with Dweezil for details). It's a pretty long episode because they had a lot to catch up on, but well worth it! ABOUT RYAN BROWN Ryan Brown is a professional drummer and percussionist in Los Angeles, California. I want to apologize for freaking any of you out about the surgery. I'd swear I had brought this up a couple of months ago. Regardless, this is a good thing, not bad. I'm not dying, suffering or otherwise. What this is for me is a game changer in my life. I am fortunate to have met a physician who is going to have it done for me pro bono, which is the reason school was nixed this semester. Insurance won't cover the procedure and when an opportunity like this slaps you in the face, you stand up and pay attention. So, all is well and no need for concern. I also thought I'd take a little time to publicize my stats for the last 30 days at Podbean. Currently, I am 100,000+ in downloads and streaming of my sets since the beginning of the year. More importantly, here are my stats for the last 30 days alone: Podcast Stats (Last 30 days) Episode hits 11449 Subscribers 3277 Site visitors 1505 I'm currently shooting for the stars, but I'll settle for worldwide domination. Granted, these numbers don't necessarily reflect what goes on in my Facebook group or fan page, much less iTunes or my blog. All are inextricably linked, but provide a different avenue for those that follow in a manner that's most convenient for them. Nevertheless, for just my Podbean site, this is amazing! I am humbled and thankful to be able to share my passion for house music with like-minded individuals or as I like to say "people with good taste" LOL! I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without your support, this would have never happened. I fully expect to be taking this to the next level sometime next year. In the meantime, tell all of your friends and sign up for my emails, fan page and the newly created group page on Facebook. I expect the group page to turn into a portal for all of my current and future Guest DJs to promote their awesome work. So please, run don't walk and spread the gospel of Party Favorz and if you haven't signed up for my group page, please take the time to do it now. As promised, I'm sending up my latest funky/soulful house set sprinkled with a hefty dose of Nu Disco. As you can see, I brought lollipop girl out of retirement and played dress-up Barbie by changing out her tube top and shorts. After all, I couldn't have her smelling like a skank.LOL! I was jamming to this last night and am all about the music in this mix. Frankly, I think this is a nice counter to the circuit driven Autumn Edition that I'll be juxtaposing it with throughout the week. Take notice of the Freemasons' 2009 mix of "Love On My Mind". Originally released in 2005, this worldwide smash gets a makeover and lends more to the original #1 disco classic "This Time Baby" from which it sampled. Unfortunately, Freemasons dropped that part in at the end of the song, making it more of a cock tease of what's possibly to come between now and next summer. So, I edited it down to the point for those familiar with the original, which will certainly give you a hard-on for more. For now, Eddie X and Niki Haris have done a remake which will show up on my next Autumn Edition, even though it doesn't quite live up to the original, it's on it's way to becoming a huge hit. I don't want to sit around typing all day, so I'll just let this set speak for itself. I'll be back on Monday with part two of the Autumn mix. Until then, enjoy! It's Friday so let the parties begin! At this point, Gay Days should be in full swing and I'm sending up the final mix that should keep things going well into the morning. So let's get to it. For the most part, this mix takes on a little more subdued tone. In fact, you might even consider this a winddown mix; just with enough oomph to carry you through to 5 AM. Kicking things off, Avri and Johanna's "Love Again" is a smart piece where the protagonist declares that she can no longer be with the person she loved for so long. Midnight Society turns in an uncharacteristically low key circuit number that frankly suits the song well. This is followed by TYNY and Jerumus with Josie Vie on "What You Do To Me". I simply love this song. Miss Vie's sexy vocals are upfront and honest on this electro number. Personally, I think this deserves more attention than it's getting at the moment, but it's still relatively new, so we'll see. Many of you may remember Lakisha Jones as a finalist from American Idol's sixth season. Well, her album finally dropped in May with the lead single "Let's Go Celebrate". The original is fresh but not much different from a crowded field of the same at top 40. Nevertheless, it should do well. What really bugs me is that she is an amazingly gifted singer, but for some reason, her producers felt it was necessary to put her voice through that vocoder thingy that is very common with artists that frankly can't sing. In fact, you wouldn't even recognize her if it weren't for the fact that her name accompanies the album. Friscia and Lamboy who have been m.i.a. as of late, return with their own brand of electro-circuit style production that works oh so well for this song. I expect this will not only do extremely well in the clubs but on the charts as well. Following up "Here I Am" Matt Zarley returns with a remake of the Steve Winwood classic "While You See A Chance". With this being one of my all-time favorite songs, I was concerned about it getting some sort of circuit style treatment. Apparently, so were the remixers involved in this project. Why? They toned it down making it more of a tea dance style party mix. Solar City and Mark Picchiotti both did outstanding mixes that will compete for my next T-Dance Edition. So that left me with Twisted Dee who equally did an outstanding job though her version is a little more primetime. The "morning" used in the title suggests wind down, which is why it's on this set. After repeated listens, I really like Matt's vocals and the variety of mixes that accompanied the package. This is a grower and definitely a keeper. Those of you that follow the BPM Editions, may remember the fabulous Sabrina Johnston's take of "Peace in the Valley" with the Soulshakers doing the remix honors. Well, it looks like Michelle Weeks also wanted to give it a stab and instead of taking the funky route, she and Orienta-Rhythm deliver some soul-satisfying hard hitting house. I honestly really like both versions for competing reasons. Trust me on this one. As I had previously mentioned, DJ Paulo is all over the place lately and is turning out some high-quality mixes in the process. "Circles" is an absolute stunner reminiscent of Joey Negro's take on Sessomatto and Thelma Houston's "I Need Somebody". Probably a song I should reintroduce sometime this summer because I love it so much. Anywho, lovin' them "Circles". Another one I've been all over is Andrea Carnell's "Up Your Heart" which apparently came out in late December last year. However, it wasn't until April of this year when Danny Verde released an e.p. of his best mixes that this song started gaining traction and rightfully so. As usual, the vocals are impeccable and the hook will suck you in. Finally, The Perry Twins and Niki Haris release a second set of mixes for their spring monster "Bad Bad Boy". The Edson Pride monster mix is a definite winner for peak time mayhem,

The Edson Pride monster mix is a definite winner for peak time mayhem,
After finishing the Sun mix, I was definitely ready to dive into something darker and harder. Don't let the first part of this mix fool you -- it does start off somewhat smoother -- it is still not for the weak. I just had to ease you into it. Ha. I didn't comment on any specific tracks on the last mix (save Viola's song), but I do want to bring a few to your attention on this one. To start, there are a number of new remixes/remakes of oldies but goodies on here. I didn't plan it that way on purpose. If they were good at one point, there must have been a reason. I hope those that remember the originals will enjoy these new takes on them. One song that has really been under the dance radar (although it did appear on Billboard a few weeks) is Valeriya -- Wild (Bimbo Jones Vocal Mix). Yeah. I have worked out to this song a number of times over the last few weeks and it just makes me, well, Wild (hardy har har). It just has so much energy. Another one, including the back-story... DJ Demarko feat. Heather Leigh West - Drop A House (Razor & Guido Remix). Many will remember the song by The Tamperer feat. Maya - Feel It from 1998. What you may not know is Maya didn't sing that song at all. Heather, however, did sing it a few years earlier with Urban Discharge in 1994. She, according to an interview, did not even know this (what I will call) "remix" existed until a friend played it off a dance mix CD. They essentially lied that it was Maya's vocals. There was even a video to their song, with Maya lip synching Heather's (very different than Maya's) voice. Long story short, in order to essentially prove once and for all that it was her vocals, she recently re-recorded the song (which she sounds exactly the same). I intro it with a remake of The Jacksons - Can You Feel It, as The Tamperer song sampled it extensively in their "remix". The Razor & Guido remix actually use a very similar backbeat as well. I've been waiting to put Can You Feel It and Drop a House together for years and have finally got my chance. I will say that The Tamperer "remix" does bring back so many memories of my coming out, so this song does share a special place in my heart (even if it's lyrics are, ironically, very bitter). :-) One last comment regarding Safire - Exotique (Mike Rizzo Funk Generation Club Mix)... I love a lot of Mike's remixes, although they would typically not appear where I use it, at the particular point of this kind of mix (or perhaps in this kind of mix at all). This remix, however, just grabbed me out of nowhere. There is something about the smooth chord progressions and subtle building that just give me chills every time I listen. I've already e-mailed him to see if there may be a long, 12-minute mix I don't know about. If I were at a party, I would love it to be played at the exact point where I placed it. Love it. I will have to say, probably my favorite song on the entire mix. Here at Party Favorz, I don't take a break.okay, once in a while, but when it comes to serving up some of the freshest beats on the circuit, there's no time for disco naps, nor egg hunting. This is the final edition of spring and boy oh boy is it a scorcher! Starting off with Yinon's take on Deborah Cox's "Beautiful U R" which is an amazing prog mix that has a beautiful drop about 2/3 of the way in. Deep, dark and haunting, this is truly an amazing song that is supposed to have a second set of mixes coming out soon. In the meantime, Deborah also collaborated with Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke for the star-studded "Leave the World Behind" which will be featured in my upcoming System Edition; so be on the watch for that. You may be scratching your head and wondering what the hell Acorn, I mean Akon is doing on this mix; especially since he's not a particular favorite of mine. Because Tracy Young worked this song every which way but loose! If you can get past the vocals, Tracy's "Monster Mix" is worth the price of admission. I already mentioned Razor 'n' Guido in my last post, so just know their re-work of the classic "Drop a House" is HOT! The Chriss Ortega mix of "My Life Would Suck Without You" had already appeared on my last BPM Edition, but is the only entry for this song that's worth the play. I really expected more from Tommy Sunshine and Friscia and Lamboy, but they basically turned in a mix that Jason Nevins could have worked out had he been asked to mix the song.eh! Then we've got the return of Depeche Mode and the elusive Peter Rauhofer mix currently only available as a promo. Why they left it off the commercial release is beyond me, because Peter's mix is not only the best but smoldering. I am a little concerned that David's vocals are not up to par, leaving one to wonder. We finally get some new mixes for Rihanna's "Breaking Dishes" and Ralphi, true to form, did not disappoint. I liked the 'Soul Seekerz' mix well enough from the original remix album that was released in conjunction with "Good Girl Gone Bad", but this version brings it to life. I just hope those are Chris' dishes she's breaking; in fact go ahead and bust his balls while you're at it. Probably my biggest disappointment here is the Junior Vasquez take on "Please Don't Leave". An absolutely beautiful song in its own right, I do believe he could have done better. This mix isn't bad but would have been better served with the full vocals. Sadly, P!nk's label didn't commission many mixes for this, though the Digital Dog mix (which appeared on my last BPM Edition) is still the best version and retains all the elements that make this song so moving. One of the weirdest treats in this mix comes from Jipsta's "I Want Your Sex". If you were thinking 'George Michael"', you thought right. I always thought this song was ripe for a remake, but never in a million years did I think a hip-hop/rapper would re-do it. All I can say is HELL YEAH! This song rocks and is accompanied by a ton of excellent mixes. I don't usually use Mike Rizzo except in the BPM mixes, but his slamming take warranted inclusion. The Perry Twins in collaboration with Niki Haris turn in a really fun song and is considerably beefed-up mix by the Escape & Capello team, who are currently riding high with one club hit after another. Another welcome surprise comes from Cevin Fisher. After last year's remake of his classic "You Got Me (Burnin' Up)", Cevin dove right back in his bag of goodies and brought out another classic "The Freaks Come Out". As with the last release, the mixes for this song are all stellar. I went with the Prok & Fitch remix because they are one of the underground darlings in the house scene at the moment and deliver a very memorable grind for this song. This is going to be HUGE! Capping off the mix, Nick Harvey delivers a tribal lover's dream with "Beat on the Drum" and the amazing Allan Natal take on Luis Erre's "...
