I spoke  to iconic Irish artist and songwriter Perry Blake who released his latest album called "Death Of A Society Girl" on Moochin' About Records. This album features  Paul McGann, best known for his roles in BBC's "Doctor Who'", "Withnail & I'"  "Empire of the Sun'", '"Alien 3'" and "Queen of the Damned ."This album also marks 26 years for Blake as a recording artist. It's also his first music in five years, following the critically acclaimed ‘Songs of Praise' (5 Stars MOJO). Hailing from Sligo county, Perry Blake has been dubbed one of music's great untapped resources. Polydor UK released his debut album ‘Perry Blake' in 1998 (with three singles chosen as 'Singles of the Week' on Jo Wiley BBC Radio 1). After which he moved to France. Irish singer-songwriter Perry Blake, who largely came to fame in France and flourished with a career that brought opportunity throughout Europe, presents his new album 'Death of a Society Girl', released via Moochin' About Records with nine compositions on offer, including the focus track 'Let's Fall In Love'. His first music in five years, following the critically acclaimed ‘Songs of Praise' (5 Stars MOJO), this album also marks 26 years for Blake as a recording artist. Very much of the here and now, this album also offers traces of Perry's previous heady work - not dissimilar to his French Top-40 eponymous debut album - finding Perry at the height of his powers. Earlier, Blake released the epic title track 'Death of a Society Girl' featuring British actor Paul McGann, known worldwide for his roles in BBC's 'Doctor Who', 'Withnail & I', 'Empire of the Sun', 'Alien 3' and 'Queen of the Damned'. He also teased the light-filled cinematic single 'Concertina' shortly before the album's release. Co-written and co-produced with long-term collaborator Graham Murphy (Clannad, Sharon Shannon, Marie Brennan), this album features Blake's hallmark surrealist lyrics and original artwork by Syrian-born artist Helen Abbas. Known for his delicate, downtempo and beautifully melancholic output and uniquely soothing timbre, he is well known as a collaborator of Françoise Hardy, who sang on 'War in France' (from his album 'Still Life'). When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Air, Pop, Crack: Approaching NothingEl título de esta semana es heredado del álbum del artista sonoro Lawrence English titulado ‘Approaching Nothing’, y a su vez retoma reflexiones de su texto ‘A Memory of Almost Nothing’ publicado en la edición 27 del Leonardo Music Journal . En Approaching Nothing el autor se acerca a la ‘casi nada’ o Presque Rien del compositor francés Luc Ferrari, compuesta a finales de la década de 1960. Esta obra, según English, establecería un antes y un después en el uso de las grabaciones magnetofónicas en la musica del siglo XX. Desde puntos de vista estéticos y políticos, ‘Presque Rien’ se diferenciaba diametralmente de la escuela de musica acusmática de Schaeffer, la cual se enfocaba en esconder la identidad y el origen de cada uno de los sonidos utilizados para resaltar su propia morfología. Ferrari en ‘Casi Nada’ le dió importancia al contexto, a la grabación cruda del lugar en el que habitó un par de semanas al borde del mar y con todas sus cualidades aurales hizo un enlace de su memoria a este específico lugar. Según English, ‘Casi Nada’ fue una de las primeras grabaciones de campo que celebraron una forma de escucha afectiva, como una herramienta de creación de memoria auditiva. "On avait 2000€ de côté et il nous en fallait 110.000 pour se lancer."Augustin Jaclin est le co-fondateur de Lemon Tri et Lemon Aide, deux entreprises sociales aux activités liées dans les secteurs de l'économie circulaire et de l'insertion par l'emploi. Après 7 ans d'activité, les deux structures réunies comptent en 2017, 30 salariés, près de 300 machines de collecte et un fort taux de croissance.2000€ chacun, c'est la somme qu'avaient Augustin et Emmanuel, amis d'enfance et co-fondateurs de Lemon Tri, à la sortie de leurs études. Pas assez pour investir dans une première machine de collecte, encore moins pour rassembler tout le capital nécessaire au lancement de leur activité, comprenant entre autres des camions de transport, un local de stockage, une machine de compression des déchets... Avant même de faire une levée de fonds, plusieurs astuces leur permettent cependant de rassembler 110 000€ et lancer leur activité. Hij bewerkte de geluiden subtiel, en noemde het ‘Presque Rien', bijna niets. Maar is dit wel muziek? En hoe moeten we daar dan naar luisteren? Of maakt dat niet uit? Yannis Kyriakides legt uit.

"In 1913 Futurist Luigi Russolo developed several noise machines, which he named ‘intonarumori’. In his manifesto, The Art of Noise, Russolo argued that musical instruments could no longer satisfy man's thirst for sounds. Almost 100 years later, people are still exploring the possibilities of sound. This is what I tried to capture in this mix - testing the limits of sound, from shrieking highs to almost imperceptible lows, finding new ways of interpreting and portraying life through the medium of sound. Despite including over 100 artists, the mix by no means represents a completist viewpoint; so many perhaps important artists in the development of 'noise' were left out. It was not my intention to do a 'who's who' of noise music, but rather to show how the exploration of sound has developed over time and how fascinating these explorations are. I did at times take into account the historical significance of the piece/artist when choosing tracks, although I was steered mainly by what was sonically interesting to me.
