See all the Healthcasts at https://www.biobalancehealth.com/healthcast-blog. BioBalance Health® pellets are very safe and not painful to have inserted. They are also the easiest form of hormone replacement a woman can have because the dose is adapted every 4 months and our patients only have to think about their hormones three times a year. BioBalance Pellet therapy is associated with fewer side effects than any other hormone replacement, and we have a 95% success rate for resolving the symptoms of menopause and testosterone loss. Women's lives are drastically impaired at menopause. BioBalance, and T pellets improve their quality of life to the level of quality they had before they were 40. Dosage and pellet side effects are specific to the individual and it may take us a few pellet insertions and blood tests to get the ideal result. Finding your perfect fit is like having a custom suit made: hormone balance requires patience and several fittings, before we determine your maintenance dose, which will direct your dose of E/T for follow up pellet insertions. We give a handout to each patient when she checks out after her first pellet insertion. We ask patients to follow the instructions given to them verbally and in writing in our office. Risks of pellet insertion procedure, risk of taking estradiol and risk of taking testosterone are rare, but patients are given this handout, so they know what to expect. These same risks are on their consent that they read and sign before they even come to the office the first time. Here are the most important instructions for immediate care of the insertion site: · Take the pressure dressing off in 3 HOURS · Take the steri-strip off in 3 DAYS · Don't traumatize your incisional area · If you are allergic to tape please tell us · For three days don't submerge in water—hot tubs, bathtubs, the lake, a stream, or the ocean. · For three days don't exercise · Don't take oral or IV steroids if it is not life-threatening Please tell us if you are on steroids or take blood thinners so we can alter our treatment plan. The risks of the pellet insertion procedure include: · Infection · Bleeding, · Bruising · Allergic reactions · Swelling · Pain · Reaction to the lidocaine with epinephrine :shakiness and anxiety, lasts a short period of time, and is not permanent. Tell us if you have this side effect, and we will use lidocaine without epinephrine the next insertion. · Keloid scarring As is usual for medicine , individual patients have a higher risk based on their medical history. Patients who are at higher risk for complications secondary to the pellet insertion procedure in patients who are: · Diabetic · Have an autoimmune disease · Take steroids · Have a clotting/bleeding disorder · Keloid former · If you have many allergies · If you have orthopedic implants that require antibiotics at the dentist, then you should tell us so we can give you antibiotics. Risks of taking testosterone pellets with BioBalance Health® in the first few weeks or months and are transient. These side effects usually resolve on their own without treatment. The transient risks of testosterone treatment include: · Over the top sex drive=Hypersexuality · Vaginal itching from increased blood flow—it is not an infection · Facial hair and acne (Prevented with Spironolactone preventive treatment) · Weight gain from muscle mass and sometimes from conversion of testosterone into estrone which is a genetic risk. · Increased muscle mass that is confused with weight gain. · Lowered voice is only a problem when you are a singer. Generally, those who think they have a lowered voice really have reflux and it has nothing to do with testosterone pellets. · Clitoral enlargement—this is a reaction to a new testosterone exposure, and generally will go away in the following few months. · Thinning of hair at the temples and crown (Prevented with Spironolactone preventive treatment) Women can take testosterone without estrogen before menopause, and after menopause if requested, however the symptoms of menopause will not be completely resolved with testosterone only pellets. The risks of estradiol pellets are higher for patients with a uterus, than those women who have had a hysterectomy. Those women with a uterus have the following risks: • Uterine bleeding, growth of fibroids: Estradiol of any kind - pellets, pills, patches etc. - can stimulate the uterus to bleed. This can come from a thick lining, adenomyosis (spongy uterus), or fibroids. Prescribing progesterone, optimally sub-lingual progesterone or BLA progesterone from Belmar pharmacy, taken 1-2 times a day, counteracts this. Other treatments are surgical and offered by your Gyn. Your doctor will evaluate you for treatments: uterine wall ablation (80% effective), or a Mirena IUD. Sometimes bleeding will necessitate the choice between a hysterectomy and contin Risks of estradiol pellets for women with and without a uterus: · Vaginal discharge: Estradiol increases the moisture in your vagina. This is a gift to some and a curse to others. This wetness is not an infection, but a normal response of the vagina to estradiol. It needs no treatment, but if it bothers you, then the choice might be that you might have to stop getting estradiol of any kind, or just put up with the wetness, or decrease the estradiol dose with the next insertion. · Bloating: This is sometimes caused by too high a dose of estradiol for a particular person, or the conversion of estradiol into estrone, which causes water weight gain. Some women need progesterone to balance the estradiol, to treat bloating. Others require a diuretic, or a low carb diet, thyroid medication, DIM supplementation or more exercise. Most of the time this symptom will resolve itself in a few weeks after it starts, as the body balances itself out. Bloating has many non-hormonal causes as well. · Anxiety/Depression: Most women's anxiety decreases as estradiol levels rise, but others feel irritable, and for this occurs only in a small subset of the population. For those patients we add progesterone SL (Sublingual tablets) to their regimen, and they improve. Think about whether you stopped your antidepressant when you started pellets. This is a premature move and can cause women to emotionally crash. Please continue your anti-anxiety medications, or your anti-depressants until 4-6 months has passed, and have the prescribing doctor help you wean off. · Breast tenderness: This symptom is usually from a hormone called estrone, and not estradiol, but breasts that have not been exposed to estradiol for years sometimes hurt as they “wake-up”. This is generally limited to a month during the first pellet cycle. The product DIM can alleviate this symptom. Remember that stimulation of the breast can also cause them to swell and hurt! In rare patients, progesterone can cause breast tenderness. · Weight Gain: Weight gain occurs for many reasons especially over the Holidays. Other times water weight gain can come from Estradiol. This water weight is self-limited and sometimes requires progesterone balancing, a diuretic, or thyroid replacement, increase of protein and decrease of carbohydrates and alcohol. • Migraine headaches: Estradiol in high levels that increase and decrease drastically destabilize the neurotransmitters and can instigate a migraine headache. Pellets increase very slowly, and decrease very slowly, so either your headache is a tension headache and not a migraine, or has a trigger other than estradiol, such as stress, weather change, or food allergies. Migraines generally improve on Estradiol and Testosterone pellets.
With any surgery, it's normal to be concerned about the scars you'll be left with and whether they heal properly. In this episode, Dr. Bass covers the different types of scars and what to do if you find yourself with an unpredictable scar during your recovery. Two conditions which sometimes occur with scar healing are hypertrophic scars and keloid scars. A hypertrophic scar is red and thick, caused by inflammation combined with your wound healing biology and how your skin behaves. Keloid scars are the result of specific genes, growing thick, raised, and wider than the original incision or wound. With scar issues of redness and thickening, the scar will be targeted through gel bandages, compression therapy, or lasers and energy based devices. Fractional lasers have revolutionized the treatment of scars, both traumatic and surgical. For widened scars, surgical revision is typically needed, trimming out the old scar and resewing the skin edges no sooner than 6 months after surgery. Good scars start with good surgeries. Be cautious that you're teaming up with a surgeon who knows how to place incisions well and treat problem scars if you're one of the rare people whose skin reacts differently. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral, thank you for all you do and for your amazing podcasts, you are a wealth of knowledge and I trust your word before anyone else!! My question is about sodium. I get really dry skin mostly on my face when I have a very small amount of salt. Is this a gut issue like candida or yeast overgrowth, why would this be happening so much later in life? I'm a male, 43 years of age and I'm in pretty good health overall. I never had an issue with salt when I was younger, but now my nose, cheeks and sometimes hands get really really dry. I predominantly have salt only on the weekends, and whether its celtic or himalayan and maybe a cheat meal from a restaurant, it just seems to overloaded my body. I always keep up with my water throughout the day so I am hydrated as well. Any help with this is greatly appreciated, keep up the fantastic work!!! Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral thank you for all you do and for putting out these podcasts daily. They're highly informative and I'm learning new things everyday!! My question is about bcaa's. I know you've talked about them before but I was just wondering if when working out or lifting weights, a person can have 3-5 grams in water during the session to keep the body anabolic and not tap into muscle as a fuel source? Ive heard that the leucine in bcaa's, if your having it every 3-4 hours throughout the day (especially if your not having any fish or meat with your meal) will basically flip an internal switch to keep you in a anabolic state so you don't slip into catabolism and you can keep building muscle. I know we are supposed to have half our body weight in protein a day, so would this go against that and up your protein intake too much? Thank you again for all you do! Kelsey: I'm wondering the best approach to managing weight gain and inflammation and overall feeling better while taking an aromatase inhibitor. Luciana: Dr. Cabral, I have a severe case of keloid scars. I have done multiple surgeries to remove them, but it keeps coming back. My last surgery was 2 years ago to remove two very large scars from my back and shoulder. After the surgery we followed up with radiation, compression, and steroid shots. I've been battling this since I was in 4th grade and have tried everything modern medicine has to offer. Yesterday I went to my doctor to get more steroid shots and he said I can't get them anymore because the skin is too thin. The scar is getting wider because of the tension in the shoulder. I've asked Naturopathic doctors before, but they didn't know how to help me. I've been following your work for the last few months and I'm getting ready to start the 21 day detox this weekend. Modern medicine claims that keloid scars are genetic, even though I'm the only one in my family who has it. I've always asked why I've only start developing them after age 10. Have you threated any patients with the same condition? What would your recommendation be? Should I setup an online consultation with you so we can further discuss the matter? Thank you for your time, Luciana Alexis: Hello Dr Cabral, I'm in IHP2 and grateful for all you do. I was on the mend from Covid and 2 days later I woke with full body severe nerve pain. Then full body numbness & no longer able to walk. Diagnosed as Transverse Myelitis and positive for HHV6 and MOG. As a child I had JRA and EBV (then was fine!) and later had issues arise as an adult like: shingles, rashes, vertigo, food sensitivities. I worked with someone to get rid of Cdiff and Giardia. I've sealed and healed my gut a ton. But I must still have a higher viral load and/or other remaining issues, and this current virus attacked my nerves? What is the root?! I believe I can heal and I will! Any guidance on steps… greatly appreciated in this time of need, thank you Tonya: Hello. My son has encopresis. He was diagnosed when he was 3 and now he is 10. For years the doctors said Miralax was the answer. Last year I decided enough was enough and quit the miralax. I hired a nutritionist and we did a food sensitivities test. Turns out he is allergic to dairy, gluten, soy, egg whites, peanuts, & tilapia. I searched your podcasts and found 1 other where you also suggested other testing so next we will do the stool test and so on. However, Ive also heard you mention a 5 day intestinal cleanse. And I was wondering if we could do this? Would this also work as a "Miralax"? Currently we are doing aloe vera juice and magnesium as well as a major diet change (that has been going great)! The Razor's Edge - Interview! https://therazorsedge.rocks Jack chats with Alex Hurst, frontman with Boss Keloid!
Over the course of, now, five albums with Family the Smiling Thrush (Ripple Music) Boss Keloid have gone from stoner metal to a progressive metal giant. They defy easy categorization and genre tags by keeping fans, and new listeners, on their toes with an amalgamation of styles and varying degrees of heaviness. To put it plain, no one else is doing what this band is doing, nor has the balls to put themselves out there like they do. And it works, tremendously so. Our maestro of the mic, Buke, chats with Ste Arands about the new album and the pitfalls of jamming together in the midst of the pandemic, how the band has evolved over the years personally and in sound and scope, a more collaborative writing approach then in the past, and an enormous discussion on Ste's vast and eclectic ear for music and how his upbringing with music as a constant shaped him as a musician. They also cover upcoming tour plans, Toto, the negative effects of the social media age, a surprise family likeness, and Ste's background in drumming and how he got his start behind the kit. This is an absolute blast of a conversation so dive in and enjoy!9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
Steve and Remfry 'go down and deep' on the Download Pilot line-up and end up completely and utterly contradicting our stance from last week by having a *whispers* bit of a moan. Still ... festivals are back ... sort of ... yay! Something that no-one in their right mind should have a problem with is us moaning about the fact that Vince Neil STILL has a career in music even though he is clearly a washed up, overweight sexist sack of shit who can't sing, as he proved earlier this week at a festival in Iowa. What an utter goober! Featuring Special Guest, Erika Briana Clark Founder and CEO of E~honey Skin Care LLC, is a young driven woman who has a passion for Skin Care. During Erika's junior year of college as a Pre-Med student she sought out an opportunity and volunteered at the Skin of Color Research Institute at Hampton University. Shortly thereafter she found herself immersed in Research on the role that various Molecular markers play in Keloid fibrosis, the structure and function of the skin and the process of wound healing. Keloids are a phenomenon most commonly found in people with Skin of Color. After a stressful Senior year completing her undergraduate degree in Biology, Erika found herself with an acne problem and an even deeper interest in skin care. Through time and experimentation, she was able to treat some of her break outs through diet and home remedies. She then scheduled a visit to see a Dermatologist and discussed more advanced treatment. As her passion grew and she began working side by side with a Dermatologist for 1 year, she decided to work with a lab to create her own skin care line that she launched under E~honey Skin LLC. Godzilla A giant sea creature, that walks on its back legs, shoot radioactive breath/laser from its mouth, and vaguely looks like a dinosaur, and no I’m not talking about mom. We begin our talk on Godzilla, and learning about the nearly 50 year old King of the Monsters. Another series mom may have a greater affinity for than even me. Kaiju – Literally meaning “Strange Beast”, the term originated for just about any mythological creature or monster from Japanese legends, but after opening up its boarders to the west, the term has also meant any legendary creatures that exist outside of Japan as well. In Modern terms, we use the term Kaiju to reflect creatures of science fiction or fantasy that are relatively the size of Godzilla, multiple stories tall creatures. Western example can include King Kong, Monsters from Power Ranges, namely and inspirationally, from Pacific Rim. Even Steven Spielberg got inspiration for Jurassic Park from Godzilla and other Kaiju movies. Godzilla is considered the first Kaiju movie. History Debuting in 1954, and created by Toho, in his own self title film, Godzilla has been a fixture of Japanese and American media for nearly 70s years. Though no official individual is the one that birthed the creation of the creature, he was initially intended to be an allegory for Nuclear Weapons as seen by the Japanese. Others have likened Godzilla to the United States, as a terrible beast awakes from its slumber to take vengeance on Japan. Despite his first film of being the villain, later films would actually see him being an Anti-hero and possibly a protector of humanity, along with being a less serious and more campy. As time has gone on, Godzilla has faces other kaiju and had a rotation collection of villains and enemies in which were trying to destroy humanity. Toho Co, the company that created Godzilla, is previously well known for Kaiju and Tokusatsu(Japanese special effect films) films, but also release many directed by Akira Kurosawa, along with the anime films of Studio Ghibli. They also work with other anime companies to get their movies released in to theaters. Eiji Tsuburaya, the individual in charge of special effects for the first Godzilla film, developed the technique that would be called ‘Suitmation’. This was the act of creating latex/rubber suits for actors to wear and become the monsters. This was further developed by shrinking the sets down to miniatures, to give the scale to the actors in the suits. The camera was then placed low to the ground and filmed at double speed, to get the aspect of the Monsters as being huge, but also create smooth movement as the actors moved slowly in their costumes. Special Effects were then substituted with Puppetry or other models to give the effect of swinging tails or mouth movements. Even as CGI has become more prevalent in the Japan, Suitmation is continuing to be used on certain levels, with the suit actors doing motion capture to film the actions and translate them to CGI. Characteristics Original Japanese name was Gojira, from combining the two words Gorira (Gorilla) and Kujira (Whale) in Japanese. It later Romanized into Godzilla upon appearing in the west. Inspired by Ray Harryhausen’s film ‘The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms’, Godzilla was conceived as a reptilian, sea creature, loosely based on the concept of dinosaur. He has various spiked plates along his back, which is the source of his power in some films. His body’s texture is said to be based off Keloid scars that were often seen on survivors form Hiroshima. While initial seen as green in comics, cartoons, and on movie posters, Godzilla is actually charcoal grey. Godzilla’s signature weapon is his Atomic Breath, a beam of nuclear energy shot out like a laser from Godzilla’s mouth. Godzilla is also known for his physical strength and muscularity, along with being amphibious. He is shown to shrug off conventional weaponry thanks to his rugged hide and his regenerative abilities that allow him to heal from injuries quickly. As a result of his strength, the only things that can otherwise hurt Godzilla are creatures of similar stats/quality to Godzilla. Originally, Godzilla was portrayed as being 165ft tall in the original Japanese version, which would have made it so it could peer over the tallest building in Japan. It was later rescaled higher in American dub of the film, up to 400ft tall, to give it proper size according to the American Producers. It was later scaled up to 330ft in Japan, which was to continue the intention of making it so he wouldn’t be dwarfed by Japanese high rise buildings of the time. His size would continue to grow as later movies in the 2010 started to come out, with the creature eventually becoming 985ft tall in ‘Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters’(2017). Films Godzilla has appeared in 32 Japanese films, dating back to 1954. Showa Era (1954 – 1975) His initial 1954 appearance portrayed Godzilla as an invading force of nature. However, later films in the era would portray him in a more comical and slapstick light, as the films were largely aimed at families and children. Still, this period ended up spawning additional movies for some of Godzilla’s featured rivals and allies, leading to more movies that weren’t necessarily staring Godzilla. This is where we see Godzilla fight: Rodan Varan Mothra King Ghidorah Mecha-Godzilla Heisei Era (1984 – 1995) The series took a break from 1975 until 1984, but returned with ‘The Return of Godzilla’. The reboot tended away from the Showa Era, and instead made Godzilla a force of destructive nature once again. The new series kept a singular timeline of events between its movies, acting as a direct sequel to each other. Many of the earlier villains were brought back once again. In 1995, the character was killed, seemingly ending the Godzilla Franchise. American Godzilla (1998) In 1992, TriStar Pictures acquired the rights to Godzilla, with the intent on creating a trilogy of films based off the Japanese creature. The original script would have stayed true to the Japanese origin of the creature, as a monster mutated by atomic bombs. However, disagreements over the budget of the film caused the original director to leave, with Roland Emmerich coming in to direct. Fresh off of Independence Day (1994), Emmerich wanted total creative freedom, as he wanted to ditch a lot of the origins of the Japanese Godzilla. Oddly, the budget for the film would be about the same as the original pitch’s budget. Emmerich moved away from a Dinosaur being bombard with nuclear energy and instead turned it into an iguana instead. The film was widely panned by critics and fans, who has come to see the original version and not the Emmerich version of the character. The following two planed films were canceled, and instead developed in to an animated series, which held up much better with fans than the film. Millennium Era (1999 – 2004) Largely seen as the backlash against the American Godzilla(1998), the Millennium Era of Godzilla sought to bring back the character to glory and show the Americans how it’s done. Unlike the Heisei series, each film is considered stand alone film, with no direct relation to one another, outside of the original 1954 film. Sadly, outside of the first film in the Era, most of the films were not well received, as the Godzilla formula was becoming stale and old to Japanese and American markets. After the 2004 film, Godzilla: Final Wars, which saw the return of various monsters from the Showa Era, which capped off 50 years of Godzilla, the character was quietly put on hibernation. Godzilla (2014) Initially set to be a short 40 minute film, Legendary Pictures decided to create a full film instead, barrowing much more of original Godzilla canon, and differentiating it from the 1998 film. Much of the original 2014 American film deals with two other Kaiju, and purposefully leaves Godzilla out of much of film until the very end, in order to build up hype. The film was very well received, which prompted a sequel ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong set to come out in March 2021. Reiwa Era (2016 to present) After an early screening of Godzilla(2014) to its Japanese creators, Toho praised the American Godzilla, and sited it as the reason to bring Godzilla back to Japanese media. To bring back Godzilla, they brought in Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuichi, the creators and mastermind of Neon Genesis Evangelion(1995) anime, to create the film. With Anno creating the screen play and script, and Higuichi coming on as special effects director. The new series entitled Shin Godzilla, would focus more on the recent natural disasters of Japan, rather than the atomic bombing of its earlier films, and also focused on the failure of the Japanese government, which was a concern amongst Japanese after the 2011 Tsunami. The film was a success and later films are slated for release, but due to the shared nature of the series with Legendary Pictures, plans have been put on hold for any new film. Three additional CGI films were later produced between 2017 and 2018 feature Godzilla, and were exclusive to Netflix. Major Antagonists King Ghidorah – Considered Godzilla’s archrival. Rodan – not too dissimilar from a pterodactyls, he serves as one of Godzilla enemies, and in comes cases, ally. Mothra – Basically a giant Butterfly King Kong – the third movie was based off their fight. Mecha-Godzilla – A mechanical version of Godzilla, in one case, made from the Skeleton of Godzilla.

Many factors contribute to thyroid issues. Some of the common causes of thyroid issues are autoimmune diseases, iodine deficiency, inflammation, nodules, tumors and genetic disorders. But we don’t need to turn to drugs. My returning guest, Dr. Stephen Lewis will teach us ways on how to treat thyroid issues naturally. Dr. Stephen Lewis first guested on the show last year, and we talked about chronic fatigue syndrome. For those who haven’t heard Episode 117, which is my episode with Dr. Stephen Lewis, here’s some information about his background. Chiropractor Training Dr. Stephen Lewis first trained as a chiropractor. He got out of chiropractor college in 1981 and always believed in nutrition. Recalling his childhood years, Dr. Stephen Lewis remembers that his family’s chiropractor used to counsel his family on vitamins, mineral, and herbs. “Bottomline, it’s all about getting out the toxins and getting in the nutrients. Your body is smart enough to heal. Don’t lose hope,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. “Have positive expectations because your spirit and your mind have a lot to do with what kind of outcome you have.” Current Situation Dr. Stephen Lewis says that some problems that contribute to the growing number of people with thyroid issues are the fact that the United States government subsidizes soy, wheat, and corn. So, it ends up being a cheap commodity. “And when it is fertilized, it creates more protein. And more protein in plants is called gluten. That’s where are a lot of the autoimmune diseases are coming from. In the end, you get the leaky gut syndrome.” He adds, “Gut and inflammation are always in the equation. You can give the thyroid things it needs to work with but fix the gut first. When you fix your gut, your brain also gets well. You get better nerve signals to the thyroid.” Recommended Foods Dr. Stephen Lewis admits that he was a fan of the Atkins diet years ago. But breaking down the foods to stay away from, Dr. Stephen Lewis suggest throwing the grains away. He also believes that MSG is too toxic. “Even some of the vitamins and drugs has cancer-causing dyes. The best way to heal things is to change the mental perception because we foresee things like food that’s not food,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. “Forget the things that are in a box or bag that has all the ingredients that sound like chemicals.” He adds, “We don’t love ourselves enough to accept the good things. The universe has incredible things for us. Healing the gut makes us live a more fulfilled life because of the neurotransmitters that make us happy. The probiotics do a lot to heal the gut and take the load off the thyroid.” Dr. Stephen Lewis says fermented foods can also be beneficial but more than that; he recommends eating more seafood. A significant factor in why Japan has a low rate of people suffering from thyroid issues and breast cancer is because the Japanese eat a lot of seaweed which is full of iodine. “I don’t think the iodized salt is enough. But I’m a big fan of Himalayan sea salt or Celtic sea salt. Because it has a better profile. Although I never give iodine to a Hashimoto’s patient. On the other hand, flour is devastating to a diabetic,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. Importance of Vegetables Like most experts who have guested on the show, Dr. Stephen Lewis recommends including a variety of vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables in your diet. And corn, by the way, is not a vegetable. Cruciferous vegetables are known to protect us from disease, and it’s anti-cancer. Some examples of these vegetables are broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy, Brussel sprouts and garden cress. “My favorite is avocados, guava, apples, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes and different types of greens. Widen your scope of what you consume. I do a lot of walnuts and pecans. And I think the keto craze is the best thing ever,” Dr. Stephen Lewis said. He adds, “I don’t judge. And although I’m not a vegan, having an all-meat diet is not good either. I don’t think vegan is the healthiest diet. Americans overeat meat. It all boils down to quality and moderation is the key.” Truth About Cholesterol Dr. Stephen Lewis reveals that there is enough inflammation to make the cholesterol stick. And there’s good and bad cholesterol that’s responsible for heart disease. One way to measure is via an hsCRP test. The test is a highly sensitive quantification of CRP, an acute-phase protein released into the blood by the liver during inflammation. It is associated with the presence of heart disease. “Thyroid has a lot to do with whether your cholesterol is good or bad, as does liver and GI function. Cholesterol is not about heart disease. It’s about what is your inflammation level or magnesium level,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. Taking Supplements If you plan to take supplements, Dr. Stephen Lewis advises researching the ingredients of the product. There is a big difference in the quality of supplements. “I suggest some products that happen to be animal-derived. Otherwise, there would be no results. You need a digestive enzyme that contains some animal products. And you need the glandulars, like the thyroid grandulars and the adrenal glandulars,” Dr. Stephen Lewis explains. Dr. Stephen Lewis sources most of his products from companies that get it out of Argentina and New Zealand where they have cleaner cows, sheep, and pigs compared to the United States. He believes it’s a sad reality to have to source a lot of raw materials out of America to get it clean. Myths Around Thyroid Dr. Stephen Lewis says that most people jump to conclusions and self-diagnose themselves to have thyroid problems after exhibiting some symptoms. He believes you have to be careful with that because there are so many other conditions that present the same symptom. Some common symptoms are headaches upon waking up, depression, constipation, poor circulation and slowed immune system. Some other symptoms are itchy dry skin at the back of your arm, elbow, and shoulder, as well as hair fall. Iodine Treatment Dr. Stephen Lewis says that the first thing for people with thyroid issues is to go for iodine. But if you have Hashimoto’s, have yourself undergo a test first. “Many times when you get on the proper amount of iodine, you can override where those receptors are filled with bromine or fluoride or chlorine,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. “Keloid scars will go away with a proper amount of iodine. Many cysts in the breast will go away.” Furthermore, Dr. Stephen Lewis says that people who have too much mucus production and hemorrhoids need iodine. The same applies to people with ovarian issues and prostate disorders. Ultimately, many people have benefitted many times from thyroid supplementation with iodine for the thyroid. Dr. Stephen Lewis usually sells iodine and iodide to patients and clients. He explains that your body needs co-factors. And if your body is depleted in those co-factors, that means your body isn’t optimally going to be able to benefit from the supplements you take. “The thyroid has a lot to do with what your body produces and absorbs. I like to put on serotonin and dopamine. They are feel-good hormones. Dopamine deficiently is highly tied to the thyroid. And those who are deficient are the ones who become addicts,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. Green Wisdom Health If you’d like additional references from Dr. Stephen Lewis, do check out his website. It contains links to his blog, online store, podcast and his book called the Thyroid Sniper. The website also features a short quiz which will calculate your current health situation. You’ll be able to contact Dr. Stephen Lewis through the numbers published on his website. Words of Wisdom Lastly, Dr. Stephen Lewis advises being careful. And don’t go with just one list. It also helps if you can go to a good doctor. “Your body will take care of itself. And some of that paranoia is because the thyroid is not working correctly,” said Dr. Stephen Lewis. “I think that a good multi-vitamin is always good.” Personally, Dr. Stephen Lewis loves the excellent fish oils. Because of fish oil so anti-inflammatory. He says it’s a long process to get the inflammation down. It starts at about two weeks and then gets better after that. So, it’s best that you also find a good support system to guide you through. “If a person is feeling sad, they need to do something to brighten someone else’s day. I think you need to give what you want the universe to give back to you. It can give you so much joy and energy to do that,” Dr. Stephen Lewis said. In his second interview with us Dr John Bergman went deep into a range of different topics. Cancer, Skin Health, Skin Cancer, The Flu Vaccine, Keloid Scarring and more were all on the table about open for discussion. Skin Health and Keloid scarring is a very personal issue for me as I was unfortunate enough to get Keloid Scars all over my chest and back in my late teens. For years I wouldn’t take my shirt off around people. I tried creams, medication, steroids, steroid injections and everything else the medical industry could throw at me but it was all to no avail. It was only when I changed my diet, healed my gut and detoxified my body that my skin started to clear and my Keloids starred to shrink. Now years later my skin is unrecognisable, and people are shocked by my recovery. This in itself is proof of how powerful your diet is. In this interview along with going deep on the other topics Dr Bergman gives his tips on skin health and how to heal from Keloid scarring as well as why the sun is such a powerful healing entity, why you shouldn’t be scared of it, and what you should avoid instead. You can find Dr Bergman here: www.owners-guide.com http://bergmanchiropractic.com Enjoy the show and don’t forget to share it with your friends and family, and anyone else you feel may benefit from the show. Most people don't know that you can reduce the size, appearance and sensitivity of your scar. Scar tissue doesn't have to be ugly and disfiguring. Scars don't have to be painful to the touch. You can reduce the size, appearance and the sensitivity of the scar. The secret is reducing the binding of the scar tissue by getting circulation into and around it and loosening up the binding fibers of the scar tissue. Massage and deep tissue work and stretching loosen up the binded fibers which lessens the pain and makes the scar tissue less raised. Myfoascial release is very effectiive in breaking down scar tissue. Its easy. Just perform deep tissue massage and stretching and break up the adhesions and binding of the scar to reduce the size and appearance of it. By getting circulation into the scar, you will reduce the pain/sensitivity of it.

Introduction: Keloids are the result of excessive scar tissue formation. Besides their poor aesthetic appearance, keloids can be associated with severe clinical symptoms such as pain, itching, and rigidity. Unfortunately, most therapeutic approaches remain clinically unsatisfactory. Recently, injections with botulinum toxin A (BTA) were proposed for the treatment of established keloids in a clinical trial. In this study, we aimed to verify the effects of intralesional BTA for the treatment of therapy-resistant keloids using objective measurements. In addition, the underlying molecular mechanisms were investigated using cultured keloid-derived fibroblasts. Materials and Methods: Four patients received BTA (doses varying from 70 to 140 Speywood units per session) injected directly into their keloids every 2 months for up to 6 months. Differences in height and volume were evaluated clinically and measured with a 3-D optical profiling system. Keloid-derived fibroblasts were treated with different concentrations of BTA, and expression of collagen (COL)1A1, COL1A2, COL3A1, TGF-beta 1, TGF-beta 2, TGF-beta 3, fibronectin-1, laminin-beta 2, and alpha-SMA was determined by real-time quantitative PCR. MTT and BrdU assays were used to analyze the effects of BTA on fibroblast proliferation and metabolism. Results: Intralesional administration of BTA did not result in regression of keloid tissue. No differences in expression of ECM markers, collagen synthesis, or TGF-beta could be observed after BTA treatment of keloid fibroblasts. In addition, cell proliferation and metabolism of keloid fibroblasts was not affected by BTA treatment. Conclusion: The suggested clinical efficiency of intralesional BTA for the therapy of existent keloids could not be confirmed in this study. Based on our data, the potential mechanisms of action of BTA on keloid-derived fibroblasts remain unclear. Copyright (C) 2012 S. Karger AG, Basel
"In 1913 Futurist Luigi Russolo developed several noise machines, which he named ‘intonarumori’. In his manifesto, The Art of Noise, Russolo argued that musical instruments could no longer satisfy man's thirst for sounds. Almost 100 years later, people are still exploring the possibilities of sound. This is what I tried to capture in this mix - testing the limits of sound, from shrieking highs to almost imperceptible lows, finding new ways of interpreting and portraying life through the medium of sound. Despite including over 100 artists, the mix by no means represents a completist viewpoint; so many perhaps important artists in the development of 'noise' were left out. It was not my intention to do a 'who's who' of noise music, but rather to show how the exploration of sound has developed over time and how fascinating these explorations are. I did at times take into account the historical significance of the piece/artist when choosing tracks, although I was steered mainly by what was sonically interesting to me. Well that's it - the mix should speak for itself. If you are interested in digging deeper please follow the links provided. Listen at maximum volume and enjoy."
