They salute the Timberwolves and Knicks for winning their series, examine what's next for the Nuggets and Hawks, then share what they'll be looking for as the first round comes to a close this weekend. From there, the guys shift to the WNBA to talk through more preseason action! Azzi Fudd makes her preseason debut as she, Paige Bueckers and the new-look Dallas Wings take on the Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever. The guys discuss how the Wings looked to attack, the usage of Bueckers and Fudd within the high-paced offense, and some early returns on the Wings' defense. Clark's comfort inside the arc -- as a driver and mid-range scorer -- popped in this one for the Fever. How scary can they be when Aliyah Boston re-enters the equation? Angel Reese also made her preseason debut with the Atlanta Dream, returning to her old stomping grounds to take on the Chicago Sky. The context around Reese is different, as was her usage. The guys discuss the positives of those shifts on both ends of the floor, and how Reese can become even more impactful as she gains more reps within the new system. We finally got a look at the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire. Nekias and Steve talk through the early returns of their foundations -- spacing, defensive activity, and overall empowerment. Listen without ads for 25 cents at www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast This Dopey Greatest Hits episode kicks off with Dave introducing a fan-voted theme around iconic TV characters, with Michael Imperioli winning the poll. Dave goes on a classic rant about ads vs Patreon, breaking down the cost to “25 cents a day,” before spiraling into plans for DopeyCon — including a long-shot idea to book Steve Jones during the CBGB Festival. A voicemail delivers pure Dopey chaos: a listener recounts taking acid, drinking, and shooting whiskey bottles in his basement, ultimately blowing apart his finger with a ricochet and attempting to cover it up using an angle grinder. The episode then pivots to a legendary Dopey story from Bill Blaber. After falling deep into crystal meth addiction, Bill describes wandering New York City in full paranoia, convinced AOL was responsible for ruining his life. This leads him to break into a building, climb to the roof, scale a water tower, and pass out inside. He's rescued by the FDNY, greeted by news cameras, and somehow avoids jail by fabricating a story — landing instead in a psych hold. Dave calls it one of the greatest Dopey stories ever before transitioning into an interview with Michael Imperioli, who discusses his early acting career, Goodfellas, working with Scorsese, and the infamous glass-breaking stunt that landed him in the hospital. Plus the Sopranos - and Michael's crazy Lou Reed Fan Fiction - The Perfume Burned His Eyes! All that and more on the Brand new old Greatest Hits Show! Steve said Allar can make every throw that an NFL team would be looking for, but broke down some of the shortcomings in big moments. Steve said the Penn State fans always wanted more out of Allar because he had the prototypical QB size. What does Allar do well and what needs more work? Steve talked about the growing trend in football offenses and the lack of downfield passing. How does Allar compare to other QBs in this draft class? Steve gave us the skinny on how to pronounce Vega Ioane, since the Steelers may have him high on their board. Steve said Ioane hasn't allowed a sack since 2023 and ‘took care of his yard.' Steve said Ioane is the Quenton Nelson of the draft and regardless of position, he will be of value.

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Does the NFL need to investigate Mike Vrabel following the fallout from the Dianna Russini situation? Russini resigned from her position at The Athletic yesterday. Mike isn't sure what the end result is going to be, but he added that it is clear that a lawyer wrote up Russini's resignation letter. Mike isn't sure if it matters on Vrabel's end because he isn't the journalist that is compromising his/her position. Mike isn't sure the length of the rabbit hole here, but it makes you question her reporting on the Titans and/or Patriots from the time Vrabel was coaching those teams. The Steelers are doing a lot of homework on QBs going into the draft – should they choose one? Do Steelers players have any idea if Aaron Rodgers is showing up? The guys asked Mike about the logistics of the draft in a given city and how the league counts the number of people at the event. Mike doesn't think it's crazy that there is still hotel space because Pittsburgh is an accessible city for some surrounding NFL cities. Mike was sad to hear the passing of Phil Garner over the weekend, a Pirate from his childhood. What is the latest with the NFL referees heading into this season? ALL ACCESS w/ Aditi – With Drew Allar coming in for a visit and the previous relationship Mike McCarthy has with the father of Garrett Nussemeier, are the Steelers going to draft a QB next weekend? Another pop for the idea of taking a QB every year or two until you find one. Aditi expects the Steelers to be extremely active moving up and down the board during the draft because it's very difficult to make all 12 selections that they possess. Aditi likes the idea of the Steelers drafting Jordyn Tyson, but not to let Makai Lemon and his odd combine interviews keep you away. Is it at all plausible that Aaron Rodgers announces the Steelers 1st round pick next Thursday as a way of showing that he is back? Penn State PxP voice Steve Jones joined the show. With the Steelers welcoming the likes of Drew Allar and Vega Ioane over the last 48 hours, Steve had better insight on these guys than anyone. We have a jam-packed episode of The Dunker Spot coming your way! Nekias Duncan and Steve Jones start the show discussing the absurd run Luka Doncic has been on over the past 24 hours -- 100 points across two games?! They talk about what makes him so tough to deal with, and dabble in some "Best In The World" talk. From there, Nekias asks Steve how concerned he is (if at all) about the Pistons, Wolves, Bucks, and Rockets. Next, the guys have a Role Player draft! Based on a recent article written by Steve, the two chose from a 13-player pool to build a starting five of some of the most impactful role players in the league this year. Make sure to grade their roster this weekend! You can also read Steve's piece here: https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/the-nbas-most-impactful-role-players-who-elevate-these-title-contenders-175656183.html Finally, a new WNBA CBA has been agreed to! Nekias and Steve salute the transformational nature of the deal, then dig into some of the details that intrigue them most. What will this expansion period look like? How much movement will we see in free agency? Who's going to be the biggest domino of the offseason? Are we truly ready for a 52-game season? We have a jam-packed episode of The Dunker Spot coming your way! Nekias Duncan and Steve Jones check in on the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, boasting six and ten-game winning streaks respectively. They discuss what's standing out to them during this stretch, and how much they believe in them moving forward. Next, Nekias has some quick-hitting questions for Steve. How real are the MVP chances for Luka Doncic and Victor Wembanyama right now? Can Kawhi Leonard land an All-NBA First Team selection among a crowded group of contenders? How close is Stephon Castle to being the Spurs' second best player? Finally, they discuss Team USA's undefeated weekend. Team USA assistant, and Phoenix Mercury head coach, Nate Tibbetts took over for Kara Lawson as she returned to Duke ahead of this year's tournament. The guys discuss what looked different under Tibbetts, and have a broader discussion about who's led the way through four games, and who's put themselves in (better) position to ultimately make the 2028 Olympic roster.
