Appreciative Joy, or Mudita, is one of the heart practices and often considered the most difficult. This is an altruistic expression of joy for the good fortune and happiness of others and is an important practice to cultivate generosity of the heart and mind. It's difficult because we are caught up in craving and a sense of lack. Mary discusses how to recognize what gets in the way and move into a place of sharing the joy.Recorded Sept. 23, 2021 in the virtual world.

Nova Scotia, April 18-19, 2020 Over a period of thirteen hours, a 51 year old denturist, dressed as a police officer and driving a replica police car, carried out Canada's most deadly act of mass murder. One of the lesser reported gunfire exchanges that happened during the Nova Scotia shooting spree didn't involve the killer, Gabriel Wortman. For reasons still unknown, two RCMP officers stopped their vehicle, stepped onto the roadside, and opened fire on the building being used as a shelter for displaced Portapique residents... the Onslow Belmont Firehall. If you are unfamiliar with this story, it's nuts, but what's perhaps MORE nuts, is that the RCMPs investigation into their officers actions seem to conflict with the civilian eye witness statement. In this episode of nighttime Paul Palango and I will attempt to answer the question "why did the RCMP shoot up the Onslow Belmont Firehall?”. Nova Scotia, April 18-19, 2020 Over a period of thirteen hours, a 51 year old denturist carried out Canada's most deadly act of mass murder. Ryan Hardy is the Chef & CEO of Delicious Hospitality Group. The group that brought you New York’s Charlie Bird, Pasquale Jones, Ada's Place, Easy Victor Café, & my former stomping grounds Legacy Records Restaurant. Fresh out of college, the Kentucky bred chef began his career at Robert De Niro's San Francisco restaurant, Rubicon. At 25 he took on the Rustique Bistro in Aspen that made Esquire's 'Best New Restaurant' list. Progressed to working with Mark Miller at the Coyote Cafe in Santa Fe' before taking on the Harbor View Hotel on Martha's Vineyard in MA, where he won 'Best new chef in New England.' He then returned to Aspen to run culinary operations for the famed Little Nell. It was there that he decided to take his passion for Slow Food to the next level- he went on to own and operate a 30-acre organic farm. It was not long until he was nominated for a James Beard award, not once, but four times. In 2013 he took his talents to NYC, which led to the creation of Charlie Bird, and ultimately, Delicious Hospitality Group. This episode means a lot to us, being that this is the reason why we decided to keep this episode as raw as possible. We wanted it to be all-natural, just like the Gamay we're drinking from Vivanterre, a natural wine project from Beaujolais. Perfect for the conversation. To help you pass the time during this weird and scary quarantine, we'll be dipping into our back catalog of Beerists Minis to keep you entertained between our regularly scheduled episodes! Recorded Sept 3, 2018 The Snackists 1 - Lay's Taste Of America Chips A failed podcast from The Beerists! We recorded couple of test episodes for "The Snackists" (working title), our concept for a junk food review podcast, and released it to our Patrons in 2018. A warning– there's a lot of crunching on the mic, but we had a good time making it. Keep in mind that we decided to do this on a whim, so it kinda sucked.
