We have only edited the text for grammar and spelling).     The first time I saw a ghost I was around 10 I was laying down in my room and I was facing my door and I was able to see into the other room. That is when I saw something fly around the light in the other room then go through the wall and come back.  Then when I was 14 I woke up in the middle of the night and my closet doors were open and two shadow people walked out of my closet. My room was completely dark and they were dark then the darkness around them to where it was like a void of black that made them up they walked out of the closet and walked to my bed then they set down on the edge of my bed and the one closest to me reached out to me that is when I hid under the covers about.  In that same year, my dad was seeing shadow people walking back and forth from their bathroom to their walk-in closet. He would set up and talk/yell at them asking them what they want and why they were there. The shadow people stopped when my dad made my mom put away an old quilt that my great great aunt made that my mom had inherited. But that did not stop the strange things in my room or house. Things would come on automatically in my room at night and my remotes for my stereo and tv would be somewhere else in my room in the morning for an example one night just my subwoofer came on and all you could hear was the bass when I went to grab my remote off my nightstand it was not there it was over on my desk and I know that I left it on my nightstand when I went to bed because I was listing to music.  I then found out when I was about 16 that my grandad had died in that room before I was born. He had a heart attack in his sleep one year before I was born. Then every time I had friends over to stay the night some of them would always complain that they felt like something was watching them all night. When we were younger, my wife had similar experiences when she would come over to spend the night. More specifically, I know that it is all right to write stories and to enjoy them, however, I am curious to how far an author should go to represent what they think of reality. (e.g.: taxation is theft, slavery is wrong, China is a communist hellhole etc.) Moreover, what is the point where a piece of fiction becomes a warped, corrupting influence that spreads misery and negativity instead of enjoyment and hope? Dear Stefan:My wife and I have two children under 3 years old. I was raised in a Christian family, but over the past decade or so I have moved away from those beliefs. I now consider myself agnostic/atheist (take your pick, as for me they are practically interchangeable). My wife, on the other hand, is a Christian, though she isn't dogmatic about it. She just prefers to believe in God, and she admits as much. Neither of us attend a church, and the topic really doesn't come up very often. Otherwise I would say our worldviews and values are highly compatible.The obvious question is how to present these ideas to our kids. I certainly wouldn't want to feel like I was lying to them just to avoid conflict, and I likewise wouldn't want her to feel pressured into keeping her beliefs to herself because she doesn't feel prepared to argue about it. And it isn't just my wife and me; it's also our extended families and the broader culture that are highly theist. No matter what I do, I can't just shield my kids from bible stories and bible themes, so it will need to be addressed, and frankly I wouldn't want to keep these ideas from them even if I could. They need to be exposed to a range of ideas, if for no other reason than to be well-rounded and educated people. Also, I think Christians have some good things to say, even if only metaphorically. Too many people (though certainly not all) knee-jerk their way into nihilism via atheism, and I certainly don't want that for my kids. Yet I don't want to just allow them to adopt cultural values wholesale.At the same time, I would hate for them to feel pressured into believing what either of their parents believe. I think they're on their own spiritual journey, and honestly I believe that if I do a good job, they'll end up seeing things like I do anyway (at the risk of sounding conceited), but at least it will be their own choice. Plus, having read people like Joseph Campbell and Jordan Peterson, I think the Bible is rich in imagery, and like many other myths, actually should be read, once you're mature enough to take it for what it is.Second question: 1:22My boyfriend and I (mid-20s) have been dating on/off for a year and a half. We love each other and want to get married and start a family but at the same time we’re unhappy. He’s upset with me because I can hurt his feelings a lot, and bring up problems in the relationship without much patience. Often I lose hope and say we should just break up. My whole life I’ve heard people tell me that I’m mean or too harsh, and it’s especially a problem in relationships. How do I fix this problem? When I try to talk about it or look at it, my mind gets all muddled and I can’t think clearly. I’m confused about if I’m actually harsh or if people just don’t want the truth/opinions spoken clearly. Sometimes people say they’re really grateful that they can always count on me for an honest opinion. I’d love it if people would speak to me openly though. For the past few years I've been living in hell because of an abusive relationship (my parents). They are extremely violent, and have been treating me like complete shit because of my mental illness. First caller: I have my own company that I have run to varying success. I have recently come up with a business plan that seems too good to be true and have run it by several people who think it's a good idea. The reason why I think it's too good to be true is because it's looking like I could make $1.5 think a day at the low end. The risk is an initial loan of about $100k for machinery and initial tools. I have so far talked to a banker, a machine specialist, and several successful business owners in the family about it. It Stef has time, I would like to run it by him to make sure my head isn't in the clouds.Second caller (0:33): In one livestream, I asked you a question about how to deal with thoughts of revenge. You gave me great advice, and mentioned the call in. It turns out that the anger and thoughts of revenge towards the father of the girl I wanted to be with are just one part of a larger problem. After the relationship ended, the girl got stuck in my mind for a far longer time than the usual. Her spirit persists at my side, shackled to me, always there when my mind frees itself from whatever was giving it a momentary distraction. When the relationship ended, it made me painfully confused. I plunged through the ice, lost in chaos. Eventually, I figured it out. With some great help, I put myself together again. But if that event was a great mountain that with great difficulty I managed to climb and descend from, the present and the future are the great valley that extends itself under the shadow of the past. At the end of the valley, there is only death. I desperately want to see the light again before that comes, but I haven't been able to despite my best efforts. I'm rereading 'The Fountainhead' for the first time since listening to your shows. I'm up to the part where Dominique tells Roark she's going to marry Wynand. She seems monstrous to me, a rich white girl throwing an intellectual tantrum. Please help me understand why she is doing what she is doing in the novel.---I've found a way to come to my senses at the age of 30 and realised my entire previous self, perception and life decisions has been based on false pretences, parents and other powers that be, etc. Where can I go from here?I had myself diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome as my parents were too self absorbed to notice me.
