What do you do with a gift you never really learned how to use? We often treat sex like the expensive china we registered for but never use—beautiful in theory, awkward in practice. But sex isn't just skin-deep.   In this episode, Heather and Jamie talked about how our minds—and marriages—need renewing. Jamie shares the invisible legacy of trauma passed down through her family, while Heather opens up about the pressure to “perform” intimacy without ever being taught what godly sexual intimacy actually looks like. Let's renew our minds together!    Show Notes: Book Recommendations: Embodied by Gregg Allison The Great Sex Rescue by Sheila Wray Gregoire How and When to Tell Your Kids about Sex by Stan and Brenna Jones   Want to connect with a pastor? “You're not alone, you're not crazy—and with God's help, you can build confidence and walk in truth.” Have you ever felt like you weren't good enough? Like you didn't belong or couldn't trust your own decisions? Maybe you've wrestled with anxiety before speaking up, or feared being rejected in relationships. If so, you're not alone. In this special “Coaches Takeover” episode, Coaches Susan and Diana get real about a struggle that touches every woman at some point: insecurity. They peel back the layers to explore what insecurity really is, how it forms, how it shows up in everyday life—from career and finances to relationships and social settings—and how to move forward with confidence, clarity, and faith. With biblical insight, relatable stories, and practical tools, this episode will help you identify hidden roots of insecurity and take the first step toward freedom. Understanding the Root of Insecurity Insecurity isn't just a feeling—it's often a long-standing belief shaped by past wounds, trauma, criticism, or comparison. Susan and Diana explain how insecurity is usually built on perception rather than truth, and how that perception becomes a lens that affects everything from your self-worth to your ability to make decisions. Types of Insecurity—and Where You Might See Yourself From public speaking to parenting, marriage to money, insecurity shows up in many forms: personal, relational, social, professional, and financial. The coaches share vulnerable stories from their own lives (yes, even beach towel choices and Ph.D. paths!) to illustrate how insecurity can limit growth and paralyze action. The Body Keeps the Score Insecurity doesn't just stay in your head. It shows up in your body—through anxiety, overthinking, or even chronic stress. You'll learn how physical dysregulation can keep you stuck and how being curious (not critical) about your reactions can be a powerful path to healing. Shifting from Perfectionism to Purpose When insecurity drives perfectionism, it keeps you focused on your flaws instead of your impact. The coaches offer a mindset shift: let go of the need to be perfect and embrace being human. Showing up, even imperfectly, is powerful—especially when you focus on helping others rather than proving yourself. From Shame to Strength: A Biblical Perspective Going all the way back to Genesis, we see insecurity take root when we begin to question who we are and who God is. Susan and Diana remind us of the enemy's tactics and encourage us to put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–12), standing firm in truth and identity as beloved daughters of the King. You Are Not Alone Friend, insecurity may whisper that you're not enough—but the truth is, you are deeply loved, uniquely created, and equipped by God for purpose. You don't need to stay stuck in fear. With His help, you can show up strong, stand in your worth, and walk in freedom. We're so glad you're here. If this episode encouraged you, would you share it with a friend or leave a review? You never know who might need the hope and healing God has for them through your simple act of sharing. Until next time, keep leaning into courage, wisdom, and the One who loves you most.

Nearly a millennium before the swinging '60s, a revolution in attitudes toward sex and sexuality transformed how we consider marriage, family, the sexes, equality, consent, and even concepts like free will and human dignity. In this episode of Post-Christianity?, Andrew Wilson and Glen Scrivener interview Kyle Harper, a University of Oklahoma historian of the classical and author of From Shame to Sin: The Christian Transformation of Sexual Morality in Late Antiquity. Harper unpacks that first revolution, how it shaped the traditional Western understanding of sex, and how it has been challenged and in some ways rejected in the past 60 years.Credits:Post-Christianity? is a podcast from The Gospel Coalition and The Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics. Episode 189-From Shame to Faith For every single thing that brings us down, God has provided a portion of the fruit of the Spirit to combat it. This is more than true when we are dealing with fear of shame and condemnation. It feels like there is no way to break free from addictions we have given into.  When we are Christians and are indulging in sins that have become addictions we will feel shame. When we realize what we are doing, if our next step isn't desiring to discover how to get free, we will slip over into fear of what will happen to us because we aren't following God. Then, our faith, the very thing that can rescue us, will be under attack because we aren't trusting the one we believe in. This week we are talking about how to step out of the shame of what we are doing and into a strong, vigorous faith in God. Overcomers Academy link: https://TeresaShieldsParker.com/Overcomers/

The biggest insight of this moment is to stop Changing, but instead coming back home. What can you do and more important what not to do? From Shame to Liberation is an inspiring episode that takes an in-depth look at the shame and stigma surrounding female sexuality. We explore how we can move away from the shame of our pasts and reclaim our pleasure. This week we are peering into Joshua 2. Often while working on the needs of many, God will divert His attention to one. Luke 15:4 says, "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?" Rahab was one of the ones.  We are introduced to Rahab the harlot in Joshua 2, and her story tells me that sometimes God chooses people with rough resumes, gritty pasts, and audacity to move His plan FORWARD. There are a myriad of reasons why God might have chosen this particular woman to help the Israelites, but the one that sticks out is that other people might have underestimated Rahab's potential based on her past circumstances. But not God. He saw her potential and took her "From Shame to Fame."

** Warning: This episode might not be suitable for young listeners**Continuing our previous discussion of the imminent return of paganism, we elaborate on the Roman pagan practices of prostitution, slavery, homosexuality and the more disturbing practices of pederasty, abortion and exposure. During our discussion we provide numerous examples of how these practices are emerging in our Western culture today. We highlight how Christianity radically changed the ancient Roman world by drastically curbing these practices and by promoting the idea that all people have equal value and that people can exert self-control and not be slaves to their depraved desires. Join us as we expose the pagan worldviews seeping into our culture, whether growing from within or coming from far off places, such as “the land of sand and sodomy”. Even as Christianity is being pushed ever more into the margins, the Christian message still has the power to free people from slavery to pagan worldviews.Episode Timeline0:00:00: OpeningOvercast (iOS)Podcast Insights | Best Podcast Listening Apps (For iOS & Android)Android Central | Best Podcast Apps for Android in 2020Android Authority | 10 best podcast apps for Android!0:10:19: Prostitution, Slavery and HomosexualityYouTube | The Pagan City, the Christian City, and the Secular City | Steven SmithYouTube | Culture Wars as Pagan Counterrevolution | Steven Smith YouTube | Coming Home? **Warning: This episode might not be suitable for young listeners**Paganism is rapidly flooding into the West and the growing impact of paganism is perhaps most evident in our culture's changing views on sexuality and marriage. In this episode we reflect on historically pagan views of sexuality and marriage (focusing primarily on Greco-Roman paganism, but considering other pagan practices as well) and we illustrate how these pagan and distinctly non-Christian views are manifesting in our culture today. We trace the pagan penchant for pornography from the walls of Pompeii to modern art and popular shows. In this tour de force episode, we cover modern examples of polyamory, polygamy, polyandry, and group marriage and we document the uptick in creative and trail blazing romantic arrangements such as 'monogamish' marriage and the 'polyfidelous closed quad' configuration. Prepare to be shocked by the growing depravity that is rapidly becoming the 'new normal'. Listener discretion is advised.Episode Timeline:0:00:38 - IntroductionWashington Post | THE AFGHANISTAN PAPERS A secret history of the warDittrich, Luke (2017). Going Beyond the Food: Intuitive Eating, Emotional Eating, Body Neutrality, Diet Mindset and Anti-Diet Podcast

On today's episode, we'll talk about 'She's Beyond the Food Chapter 6-My Journey 2.0' From Shame to Fame. That was the title of episode 101 of The Beyond The Food Show Podcast in which I shared my in-depth personal story for the first time. I asked one of my friends Sean Croxton to interview me. I gave him carte blanche... the result was amazing. My Story 1.0 As a public figure, I had shared my origin story in occasion before mainly inside my programs or during my public workshop but never to this level of vulnerability of this interview. Certainly, I remember being very anxious before, during, and after the recording. But the greatest gift came a few days after the interview when it hit me: I no longer need to hide my imperfections, my mistakes, my errors. That is to say, although I was scared of what people would say, the relief of being completely transparent was by far greater. From Shame to Fame episode 101 of our Intuitive Eating podcast was just another chapter in my story... She's Beyond the Food: My Life Story From that interview, I gradually became more confident in sharing the events in my life that brought me to the greatest learning. To synthesize the failure into learning. To process the lowest points in my life into inspiring stories that support my life's teaching. She's Beyond The Food podcast episode series was born in March 2019 with Chapter 1 when I shared my business struggle. I shared with the audience how I faced a business failure and how I changed this event. It was by far one of the most well-received episodes because of the vulnerability I was willing to express and share. The lesson here: the teacher teaches best when not perfect. So, I decided to build upon this impactful episode and released: Episode 183-Chapter 2: I shared my life long struggle with exercise Episode 187-Chapter 3: I shared my journey quitting Keto Episode 190-Chapter 4: My experience gaining weight in public eyes Episode 195–Chapter 5: My journey in accepting my body She's Beyond the Food Chapter 6 Today's episode is about She's Beyond The Food Chapter 6-it's my story 2.0. It's a follow up to episode 101 From Shame to Fame in which I shared 7 lessons learned from my experienced life up to now. The stories that made me who I'm today. The stories that crafted the Going Beyond The Food Method. Lesson 1: Weight stigma is real and freaking powerful Lesson 2: Diet Culture is a powerful monster but it's optional Lesson 3: Repeat or evolve… my choice. Lesson 4: It's Beyond the Food Lesson 5: Wellness Diet & healthy body Lesson 6: You can't hate yourself to happiness or health Lesson 7: Intuitive Eating: gateway to health & happiness Life happens to me or for me One of the biggest lessons I shared in this episode is the shift that I had to do in my late thirties where I stopped looking at life happening to me but instead life happening for me. I spent 25 years believing that I was the victim of the external circumstances and that life was working against me. In other words, I was in the victim mindset... That victim mindset kept me going in circle for 25 years chasing one diet after another and with every failure I was angrier at the world and resentful of my life. In fact, I lost and gain large amounts of weight at least 12 times never learning anything from each failure but instead repeating the same formula the next time. And then one day, every part of me collapsed. I hit my rock bottom and was forced to look at myself and my life from a different perspective. With faith and coaching, I gradually shifted to a mindset of “Life happens for me, not to me”. I began the process of asking myself: What can I learn from this event? What is this person trying to teach me? With every question came learning, growth, and transformation. I took back my power and my life. I shifted to being in charge of my life instead of being the victim of life. Are you willing to be uncomfortable? Knowing what I know today, what I've learned from my lessons and my teachers is that what was holding me back in the victim mindset, the life-happens-to-me-not-for-me mindset, was the unwillingness to be uncomfortable. When you shift to being empowered, one thing becomes clear really quickly... things will get uncomfortable. Why? Simply because you have no one else to blame but you! You see when you assume full responsibility, you must be willing to be uncomfortable. The willingness to be uncomfortable is what kept me stuck for 25 years but at the same time crafted the most beautiful journey for my life. It's also what keeps some of my students from transforming when they start feeling discomfort, they disappear and go back to their comfort zone. I hope that today's episode She's Beyond The Food Chapter 6 - My story 2.0 inspires you to begin the process of writing your own story. Chuck Colson was a young, aggressive attorney.  He rose to be a special assistant to the president of the United States during the administration of Richard Nixon.  He moved in the circles of greatest power and prominence.  He was known to be ruthless and willing to tackle the toughest of assignments.  He was sometimes referred to as the president’s hatchet man.    In the aftermath of the Watergate scandal that rocked the Nixon presidency, Colson was prosecuted and imprisoned.  He was in a place of abject shame.   But something happened during those lowest days, Colson came to know Christ as His savior.   In an amazing turn of events, the prisoner became a preacher.  Over time he proved to be one of the most influential American evangelicals of the latter half of the 20th century.  He founded Prison Fellowship.  He authored more than thirty books.  He started “Break Point,” a news commentary based on a biblical worldview. He went from shame to fame.   This morning we’re going to meet the biblical character named Jepthah.  He too went from shame to fame as God worked in his life.   No matter what our background or failings may be, God can forgive and cleanse and use us to bring good to others and glory to His name.  He wants to raise us from our shame to the fame of His name!   Carousel: The Broken Heroes of Judges “Jepthah.  From Shame to Fame” Judges 10:6-11:40   A lesson on value A troubled history   Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty warrior, but he was the son of a prostitute(1a).   A trusting heart   So Jephthah went . . . and the people made him head and leader over them. And Jephthah spoke all his words before the Lord at Mizpah (11).   A lesson on victories Be diplomatic   Then Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the Ammonites and said, “What do you have against me, that you have come to me to fight against my land?” (12)   Be dependent   Then the Spirit of the Lord was upon Jephthah . . . So [he] crossed over to the Ammonites to fight against them, and the Lord gave them into his hand(29a, 32).   A lesson on vows Be slow to makevows   And Jepthah made a vow to the Lord (30).   Be sure to keepvows   For I have opened my mouth to the Lord, and I cannot take back my vow (35b).

Going Beyond the Food: Intuitive Eating, Emotional Eating, Body Neutrality, Diet Mindset and Anti-Diet Podcast

If you think that being perfect is still the best strategy in your attempt to reach your goal, you need to listen to this audio. If you have been trying to be perfect and are tired of striving for perfection... You too need to listen to this audio.  For years, I've attempted to be perfect in all parts of my life... work, relationship and weight. Did it work? Well in part: Work: yes; Home: yes... Relationship: no;  Weight: no    And then one day, I realized via a lot of self-development work that I was perfect as I was right then and there... now. It was a journey to unlearn the thinking pattern but it worked.   That's what I'll share with you today: Why being perfect shouldn't be your goal and what to aim for instead. And lastly, the 3-step process to overcome the need to be perfect!  In this episode I discuss  Who must give you permission to be imperfect? What to do when you feel fear of being found out? Where the feeling of fear of being imperfect come from and how they impact our relationship to food and life The 3-Step Process to Body Neutrality - the bridge between shaming and positivity Self-Acceptance Cease Comparison - Stop comparing yourself to others.  Being Brave - Burry the picture of the perfect _____ (insert your word) and uncover yourself!   Read More: 087-Perfectionism: Reverse engineering 4 steps   Last episode, I talked about the photo of myself in a bathing suit that I posted on Instagram last week and wrote a short post on my thoughts… Never expecting what happens next. This opened up a whole new discussion on body image. And in this episode, I talked about Body Neutrality.  It is a liberating new concept in which you accept your body for what it is without judgment and hoping for better.

That’s what I'll share with you today: Why being perfect shouldn’t be your goal and what to aim for instead. Not good, aka body positivity; NOT bad, body shaming. In the middle. Neutral. Grateful for what your body does for you without wanting to brag about it. Curious how it can actually help you?
