In this powerful episode, I sit down with best-selling author, Pam Grout, to explore the profound journey of healing, love, and loss—and to discuss how, even in the darkest times, we can discover light and meaning. Pam and I share a bond beyond our love for quantum physics and a belief in manifestation. We've both faced unimaginable losses: We both lost both our parents as well as a child. I lost my son Sammy, while Pam lost her daughter to a sudden aneurysm. We've walked through the pain of these losses and emerged with a sense of grace connection that feels almost otherworldly. We both agree that “lost” doesn't feel quite right—our loved ones are gone, yet we still feel their presence, like gentle echoes guiding us forward. Pam shares how completing A Course in Miracles after her daughter's passing became a sanctuary and source of resilience, as writing has been for both of us. Together, we discuss how our work—whether through writing, teaching, or supporting others—has been shaped by these experiences. Tune in to explore: How our beliefs shape our reality and how to manifest with purpose The healing power of daily gratitude Signs and symbols that connect us with loved ones who've passed Ways to cultivate appreciation in relationships and savor life's precious moments How to embrace difficult emotions to find clarity and peace Make sure to explore the E-Squared experiments on YouTube and dive into Pam's insightful books:, E-Squared, E-Cubed, A Course in Miracles, and God Doesn't Have Bad Hair Days. He is he kind of picked up the mantle of the epic saga that was created by you know, the the Lord of the Rings series and Lesley Logan 8:18 The hero's journey. Brad Crowell 8:20 Yeah, this is this is it's it goes on and on and on. But this this one is amazing. Robert Jordan really took it to the next level. It's 15 books in the series. And each book is probably between 500 and 1000 pages pages long. And I've been listening to them on audiobooks. And I can't recommend that enough. It is just an unbelievable journey. And it's awesome. So yeah, for me, that's what I've been really spending my free time with. And the other day I went and I downloaded a whole bunch of business books, and I looked at him and said, I do business all day for my job. And my listening time is me time. And so I've been just enjoying my books.Lesley Logan 9:08 Yeah. Well, I love that. My books are all probably business.Brad Crowell 9:14 That's okay. That's not a bad thing.Lesley Logan 9:18 So I should have wrote this down. It's Tia Graham's book. Something about happy leaders to Graham. What is her book? She's gonna be on the podcast. Brad Crowell 9:28 Be a Happy Leader: Stop Feeling Overwhelmed. Lesley Logan 9:32 Yes. So she I'm reading her book, or by the time you've listened to this I've read her book. I'm really excited about it. Also Awakening the Soul of Power is Christian's latest book and it is also was traveled with me on this tour for me to read into which was already started it before I interviewed him and I'm finishing it. And then I started listening to Money: A Love Swith Kate Northrup, which is an old book but I just heard about it. And it made me think of We Shall be Millionaires. And which I still want. I still want the author of We Shall Be Millionaires on this podcast. My listeners, I need your help. I need her to want to be on my podcast y'all.Brad Crowell 10:17 Rachel Rogers. Lesley Logan 10:18 Rachel Rogers. She's amazing. She's amazing. And then we're actually doing the book list for next year's book club for Agency members, which is completely voluntary, and they're not allowed to be overwhelmed by being in the book club. They are supposed to be a responsible book lover, which is, you won't read the book if you're overwhelmed. And one of the books that we're actually thinking of bringing in is the Four Agreements, which is old easy, you guys. I read it on a flight to Nashville, and I finished it before the fight was over. And I was a little pissed. But it's such a great it's like essential rules to live by. I really love that one. And it makes me think of one more book that I probably mentioned before the holy fucking moly, it's January, let's bring it up. Brad Crowell 11:05 I already know where you're going. Lesley Logan 11:06 Do you?Brad Crowell 11:07 Yeah.Lesley Logan 11:07 The body is not an apology. Brad Crowell 11:09 No, that's not what I thought you're gonna say. Lesley Logan 11:11 Well, then you can bring that up what you thought I was gonna say. Brad Crowell 11:13 I don't know the name of it, but it's the one the Lesley Logan 11:17 The Big Leap. Brad Crowell 11:17 That one where you pour coffee for two preconceivedLesley Logan 11:21 Oh, shit. That's a good one. Okay. Well, let me get to all those in a second. So The Body is not an Apology by Sonya Renee Taylor. I highly recommend the audible on that. She reads it herself. And then I also recommend you listening to her interview on Brene Browns podcast years ago, I listened to it in 2020 might have been 2021. And y'all have got to stop shaming and judging yourself about your body and punishing yourself. Nothing pissed me off more than two days after Thanksgiving. Watching every fitness thing out there going. All right, here's your workout to burn off that Turkey. We do not work out to punish ourselves for what we did two days ago. We work out to be stronger, to have longevity, to have better posture to have energy, stamina, strength, positivity, confidence, all the things we have to. So anyways, The Body is no an Apology is an amazing book. And I highly recommend that interview with her because it really helps you go whoa, me being distracted by what I think people are staring at, which they're not, is keeping you from being super powerful in this world. And that's put the people in power want because then you're not able to kick their pedestal out. Anyways. You're talking about the, not The Big Leap, but the other one. Oh, E-Squared, E-Squared, Pam Grout. It's a little blue. But I think you should do it. Because I poured coffee for two and I have a husband. I'm justBrad Crowell 12:55 That's the secret y'all. Brad Crowell 12:56 That's the secret. Lesley Logan 12:57 You automatically, you magically get a husband if you pour coffee for two.Lesley Logan 13:00 It was like chapter four. That's actually I don't know that was in the book. But chapter four or five was like Brad Crowell 13:05 Pam Grout is gonna be so excited about hearing (inaudible). Lesley Logan 13:07 Pam Grout, come on the podcast. Brad Crowell 13:08 Come on the podcast. Lesley Logan 13:09 How do we get Pam Grout get oh Google alert about us. Pam Grout let's say it one more time. But she I don't even know where the if the coffee for two came from E-Squared. But what did come from E-Squared was me writing your name down and hoping that you would like not hoping but like you write the name down and then like the universe makes you call me. So anyways, all those books are amazingBrad Crowell 13:32 She has a new one. E-Cubed. Lesley Logan 13:34 It's not that new. And I haven't read it yet. But I will. Maybe I'll read that next.Brad Crowell 13:41 All right, now let's talk about Christian de la Huerta. Christian is a renowned spiritual teacher and transformation coach. He's an award-winning author who has spoken at universities, conferences and TEDx talks. His latest book, Awakening the Soul of Power, explores themes of empowerment, conscious relationships, and spiritual transformation. Listening to him was so peaceful. Lesley Logan 14:10 I know I want him to do a sleep story. Christian, if you're listening, do you have a sleep story? If you don't may recommend that you just read someone else's stories. Like any story, it can be Baa Baa Black Sheep, whatever it is, and put it on Spotify. I need about eight hours of it and I will out you can just be my sleep. Um, this is my request. This is my you know, like, just love him. And so he's just a gentle soul. And when I was talking to him, I was like, Oh, where are you? And he's like, where am I? He was like in Colombia. And he's living the Nomad life. And I just really love that about him. He's just, you know, he's doing his thing and he's so easy to talk to. His book is full of all this amazing stuff. And one of the things that I love that he said, which is actually it goes back to what I was talking about with Sunday morning Taylor is not only are we wasting our potential in terms of what we think about but it's worse than that we do such a number on ourselves with our negative self-talk. We feed the self-doubt. Lesley Logan 15:10 So we are so good at overthinking negative stuff about ourselves. And then it's, you think it's just happening in your brain. But y'all, it is happening to your body. And then it is out also affecting how you show up in this world. You are dimming your fucking light so much, people don't, people don't get to experience what you are the only person in this world who can do what you do, you're it. And like you. I was talking to Jessica Pompano today. And she was, we have a podcast episode come out with her, and we're talking about how she's in clothing and styling and like women who don't like a part of their body, they'll just wear bigger baggier clothes to hide it. And she's like, that actually isn't making you feel good either. Because you just wearing a bigger baggier clothes. And her big thing is about highlighting your biggest asset, and what that does for us. And so I just I say this, because if you are sitting here being hard on yourself at any point, in your day you are taking, you're literally holding yourself back from hitting the goals that you have. Because you're slowing yourself down. Because why on earth if you judge yourself for how you look? Or how you said something, or how you did something? How is that also going to have the energy to like, take on a new challenge? You've killed all your powerful energy. Yeah, you're like, if you think of a video game, it's like when you get hit by like, you get that little warning shot where your power goes down. And then like that you did that that's you talk to you about yourself and like, oh, but I'm going to take on this big powerful like ruler boss, right? You can't do it.Brad Crowell 16:57 I mean, I think about like Mario Kart, you know, when you are going full speed and you you got hit by a shell. You're okay, your momentum is gone and have to work your way back up to that full speed. Lesley Logan 17:09 It's so much harder to do it. It's so much harder. Could you win? Sure. I've won many video games that I play with, like my worst little guys. Because like after hours of playing it going, that's gonna go. But if you if you were actually to be kind yourself, talk yourself up. Imagine what you could do. And I look, if you're a narcissistic asshole, that's probably a dangerous thing. But if you listen to this podcast, it's because you're not. So I don't feel bad. And I'm not worried about this information being in your ears.Brad Crowell 17:41 You know, he talked about the limiting role of our ego. When he was discussing the benefits of breathwork and its healing effects. You guys had a quick super side note here, I thought was really interesting that he was raised in super Catholic family, and then got into, like, the healing nature of breathwork and how much of a problem his parents had with that. And instead of him like, not going to be a doctor, psychologist, I mean, that I thought was really funny. But he said that both breathwork and shamanic experiences involve transcending the limited ego mind and experience a sense of expanding identity. This is a lot too, for me to like, be like, Yeah, I'm excited about that. But Lesley Logan 18:29 You just said shamanic, which is Brad Crowell 18:31 I did say shamanic. It's shamanic.Lesley Logan 18:33 Yeah. But also like, I never like Brad Crowell 18:35 Shaman. Lesley Logan 18:36 Yeah. We just had a shaman on so like, we're, just a skeptical shaman. Brad Crowell 18:41 A skeptical shaman, yeah, skeptical shaman, badass. Breathwork and shamanic experiences evolve, transcending the limited ego mind. And I think that's actually the clutch. The the, that's the crux of it is the the ego is the limiting factor. Right? We all have ego, whether you are like this, you know, verbose, arrogant, like in your face, like ego, or you're diminutive and soft spoken. And whatever. Lesley Logan 19:18 Oh. By the way, being a people pleaser is your ego. Brad Crowell 19:20 That's well, that's, that's what I mean. It's exactly it's the opposite of the, you know, the arrogant fool. But it's still ego. It's actually still ego. It's just the other side of the spectrum of ego. And we all deal with these things. And so he kind of talks about the limited ego mind, which I've never heard it phrased that way before, and how breathwork can help break through and shamanic experiences. You know, I didn't really understand all the things he was talking about with that, but you know, specifically the breathwork part I can can relate to because that is in my life, mostly through you, Lesley, but you know, our ego can dominate everything, it dominates the way that we perceive ourselves the way we perceive others. Brad Crowell 20:14 And, you know, ultimately, his conclusion is that it's an illusion, right? Even if, like, I thought it was interesting, like he'd started talking, go like on another level where he's like, Yeah, you know, you're Lesley, but even Lesley's an illusion. And I was like, okay, I might not be there quite yet. But, you know, I understand where he's going with how the way we perceive ourselves the way we define ourselves, you know, our worldview, like, however you want to call this thing. You know, it's a story we've made up, you know, whether that is a story that we were taught when we were kids, and we adopted and we're holding that on to today? Or, you know, it's something that we've told ourselves the whole time, you know, or or, you know, I just found it really interesting that his focus on breathwork was to battle ego. Brad Crowell 20:26 Yeah, well, because the, the actual thing is that trauma leaves the body through movement and breath. So, I'm not denouncing therapy, I fucking love my therapist, but she's also a somatic therapist. So we did a lot of like, different kinds of things there. But you can talk things out all you want. But if you really want to release some things in your life, it's probably happening through your movement as well. So if you find yourself crying or frustratedLesley Logan 21:08 Well, what's the book, the body never forgets? Lesley Logan 21:40 The Body Keeps the Score.Brad Crowell 21:41 The Body Keeps the Score. Yeah. And that very interesting, because the movement is what release release that the trauma through the like the book that we're talking about in that bookLesley Logan 21:53 Actually, just a little side note, we actually have a course on Profitable Pilates that is from a true therapist, licensed therapist. That is, I was really excited to get on our site, because as teachers, you don't even want to be a teacher, you guys, if you have a friend who just like our family member or something like you're like, what is happening, like, everything was good, and now you're crying? And we're like, It's okay. You're okay. Everything's okay. Like when babies are crying like, you're okay, you're fine. What if you actually said, how long have you been feeling this way? How long have you been feeling this way. And that's what (inaudible) gave us, as teachers to ask people, because I've had clients on myself, like you're just crying. And it's like, and you're embarrassed and other stuff, and what the person says next can make you bottle it back up, or let it go. And if you're someone who's around someone who's like, having some sort of release, and oftentimes don't even know what they're releasing, because we're going back to Dr. Bender's episode, she's like, don't try to reason with what you're feeling. Because logic is probably going to be wrong. If you just say how long you've been feeling this way, it allows the person to just like take a moment and pause and actually kind of be with what they're feeling as opposed to bottling it back in. And as a teacher, it is actually out of my scope to therapize anyone. So the next step, I could say is like, well, you know, if you feel like this is something you are needing to work on, you know, may I suggest a few things, right? So like, and then I can recommend, I actually cannot actually give true, like, go see this person technically. But that is something for those of you it's a really great response and saying it's okay, or I'm sorry, those two phrases, actually are not the best phrases as a response for someone who is releasing something from their body. And as a breathwork professional, when someone is crying in breathwork, actually, do try not to actually acknowledge it all. Because I don't want them to, I don't know what their tendencies are. So if their tendency is to do things for attention, if I were to acknowledge that then I could be going into that. So it is more important that you just release it, and then we don't attach anything to it, that you just get to let it go like a cloud going by. So at any rate, I think it's really important to know it's okay to feel weird things when you're moving.Lesley Logan 22:10 Yeah, yeah. I mean, I, uh, it's been a long time since I've experienced that because I remember the reason that I started going to yoga in the first place, you know, because it just felt like trash. You know, in my mind, my body wasn't like, hurting so much. But my I just felt like a terrible human. And, and it took a long time to work through that. But yoga really helped me in that movement. But just bringing it back to Christian overcoming the ego's limitation is essential for self-awareness and spiritual growth and how do you overcome the ego? You have to understand how the ego mind works. And he has a book about that. And he actually has practical steps in that book. And the book is Awakening the Soul of Power. Brad Crowell 24:34 You guys, Gloria Estefan, she wrote a little quote for him. And I'm sorry, Christian, I'm just gonna say this. I saw her name. And I was like, I love Gloria Estefan, so of course, I read your book. But I love it. It's so good. I'm so glad I'm so grateful for Gloria Estefan.Brad Crowell 25:58 But But in I thought, I thought what was interesting was that he has practical steps to understand the ego.Lesley Logan 26:07 Yeah, which we all need to understand because there's that there's other there's tons of books on ego. But Brad Crowell 26:14 We've talked about ego as the enemy before. Lesley Logan 26:16 Yeah. And also like, I'm sure it's great. I know you've read it. But I also think like, great, it's the enemy. Now what, what do you do about that? And that's where I think Christian book comes in, because it's like, here's what the ego is, and here's how you can work with it. And so you guys, if you are struggling with imposter syndrome, if you are people pleasing, if you're playing small, it's all egoBrad Crowell 26:42 If you're afraid to talk to people to sell them Pilates. Lesley Logan 26:45 Right. Or if you are afraid to put your, ladies we already know this, the science is in, If you have nine out of 10 requirements for a job, you don't apply. That's ego. You think you need that 10th thing before you can apply for something, that's your ego, you know.Brad Crowell 27:03 Or if you feel like you need another certification in order to be qualified that's also ego. Lesley Logan 27:10 So um, so anyways, Christian is amazing, I really hope we get to run into him. I meanBrad Crowell 27:17 He's like bopping around the wall.Lesley Logan 27:18 Bopping around, but if you have like a retreat or something and like, you know, send your girl a note.Brad Crowell 27:25 I think he does. He did mention retreats. Lesley Logan 27:27 Oh, we should go on one. What a vacation. Brad Crowell 27:29 That'd be amazing. Lesley Logan 27:30 Let's do it. I'm in. Okay, I'm in. Whatever it is, I'm in. Brad Crowell 27:34 All right, so finally, let's talk about those Be It Action Items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items, can we take away from your convo with Christian de la Huerta. He said, deepen your relationship with the breath. Because doing so can change your life. He talked about short, long, breathwork sessions, like could be 30 seconds, it could be 90 minutes. One thing he also mentioned that I thought was interesting was it's the exhale that people don't focus on. Because when you don't exhale enough, you end up taking in you're inhaling really shallow breaths. Lesley Logan 28:16 Yeah. And Joseph Pilates was really big on the exhale. He said if you don't exhale, your lungs are a cemetery for disease and infection. Brad Crowell 28:24 Well, I mean, it affects everything. You know. Lesley Logan 28:28 Also shallow breath just starts causing stress. So.Brad Crowell 28:31 But uh, you know, he said that, it can, if you want, he started talking about putting a timer on your phone, where you can just take a quick evaluation of yourself, like, every hour on the hour, like, use that to be like, how do I feel right now? You know, do I, should I do (inhale-exhale) you know, like, can you how can that like, what happens if you do that? You know, and you also complimented him on how he looks? And he's like, I attribute it to breathwork 100%.Brad Crowell 28:31 Because he's not. He's young, obviously. Brad Crowell 28:39 But he's been doing this for 30 years. Lesley Logan 28:45 He how old is he? Because I think we (inaudible) his age. Brad Crowell 28:58 He didn't say. Lesley Logan 28:59 Oh, okay, well, I feel like I know. And he looks really good.Brad Crowell 29:20 Yes. But he said that it's about becoming more mindful, attentive and more aware of what's going on within us when you notice your breath. What about you?Lesley Logan 29:30 Okay, so he said, we talked about missed opportunities, and the things we don't intend to do because we're fear of failure. But he actually believes there's no such thing as failure. Because if you learn from it, then it's not failure at all. We're actually becoming better human beings from it. And what I I really love about that is like if there's anything you feel you failed at, what if you actually just took a look back what you learned from that? And then can you just change that from failure to experience or achievement even, you know like God I fucking I you know what? I'm so pissed at the A's straight A's and the F's from the great I'm not saying I'm for everyone gets a trophy. I'm not that girl. Don't worry about it. There's a ton of psychology on how that doesn't work. But the fact that we are so obsessed as children at a certain age, it happens around Junior High sixth grade with what letter is on your report card, which is just how you test, it has nothing to do with the journey that got you to the test, pisses me the fuck off because it made me this overachiever just fucking stressed case sometimes. Thank God for breathwork and my (inaudible) mat and my red lights and all the things. But I, what I hope as a recovering perfectionist and overachiever, I have been able to do is like, I am very proud of how we do not harp on the goals we've missed. We really do go, well, we didn't do that. Okay, we didn't do that. We should have done this. Okay, we didn't do that. Okay, well, what can like we do it as a team, which makes it really helpful. So may I suggest, you don't need to have a teammate to do this, but before you start harping on yourself about something you didn't do well, I don't know. Maybe you introduced yourself, weirdly, or you like stumbled into an interview and like you feel like you embarrass yourself. Just take a moment and go what did I learn from that? And what if that isn't a failure? And by the way, if your best friend told you about this, would you go you fucking failed? God, you, like you wouldn't do it. So like, what would you say if your best... jeez, you suck. Like, God, how many times are you gonna fail? Like, what if you treated yourself in that moment, like your best friend went through that and what would you say to that person? Right. So Christian, can we be friends? Okay, sign me up for the next retreat. I'm in. And also, thank you for being here. And this amazing book is just wonderful. And it's the next read y'all so check out the show notes and get your version.Lesley Logan 29:44 All right, loves I'm Lesley Logan. Lesley Logan 32:11 And I'm Brad Crowell and you just missed the hilarious joke. Lesley Logan 32:16 We're amazing. Brad Crowell 32:17 We're amazing. Lesley Logan 32:18 So is Christian. So are you. Welcome to the podcast. Right off the bat, I have to say that I'm so happy you're listening to this episode. Ever since my conversation with Pam Grout, the number 1 new york times best selling author I have been absolutely buzzing! It's like I forgot how powerful these manifesting techniques are and now I've reawakened to the exciting opportunities that are available to me. To all of us really. And that's what we're going to be talking about today. Over 10 years ago now, Pam wrote “E-2, 9 do it yourself energy experiments that prove your thoughts create your reality”. It was such a huge success because people were doing the experiments and having these wild experiences! They'd tell their friends, their friends would have their own mind blowing experiences, tell all their friends and on and on it goes…even today, 10 years later after E2 came out. She has a new book out “E-Cubed: Nine More Energy Experiments That Prove Manifesting Magic and Miracles Is Your Full-Time Gig”. Can't wait to hear about your experiences! But before we jump in, one of the common blocks to manifesting is negative subconscious beliefs. You might be wondering if you have them and what I can tell you is this: We all have them, but most of us are not connected to what they are because they are subconscious. But here's how you can tell if you have subconscious beliefs that are blocking your ability to manifest. For instance, you want to stop drinking, lose weight, or be more successful. You know what to do, but you just don't do it. Somehow you keep self-sabotaging. It doesn't make sense. You are smart, you really want to reach your goal, but you keep slipping up. That is the sign that you have subconscious limiting beliefs! The good news is there is a process to uncovering the root cause, reprogram your mind and finally reach your goals. I take my clients through this process in private 1:1 coaching. If you'd like to learn more about how I can help, just visit soberlifeschool.com and set up a no obligation consultation. If you're ready for change, this is your sign! Book your call today! I'm really excited to share this conversation with Pam, so without further delay, please enjoy this episode and let me know what you think! Letting Go of Perfectionism: Aligning with the Power of Mastery and ExcellenceAs part of today's episode, we offer a curated content page on "How to Let Go." This resource includes videos and podcasts that explore the mechanisms of letting go, featuring the Emotion Code and EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique). These powerful tools, based on higher consciousness principles, can be transformative. You can access the resources at TMBSN.com/howtoletgo/ here. In this episode of "1001 Ways of Being to Let Go Of," we explore the detrimental effects of perfectionism and introduce the concept of the perfection instinct. Perfectionism, which calibrates at a low level on the consciousness scale, keeps us trapped in the pursuit of an ideal based solely on appearance, while the perfection instinct, an even lower level of consciousness, drives us to make everything perfect. Join us as we delve into the lower consciousness energy underlying these tendencies and discover the significant difference between perfectionism and the transformative states of Mastery and Excellence on the consciousness scale.Realigning yourself with the power of Mastery and Excellence allows you to break free from the grip of perfectionism and experience a more constructive and fulfilling path. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guests will bring Bold, Executable, Intrinsic and Targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co host in life, Brad and I are going to dig into the questioning convo I have with Joanna Vargas in our last episode. If you haven't yet listened to the interview, feel free to pause this now. Go back and listen to this one that one, then listen to this one. And the ...Brad Crowell And then join. I'm Brad.Lesley Logan I'm Lesley Logan. (Brad: Whoa. Just sneak it in.) We're working on this new idea of introducing ourselves at the beginning instead of the end. You know, it didn't occur to me that like it was weird to have the names of the end until I was listening to podcasts where they like, like they say their names of beginning I was like (Brad: Right) "Oh, we don't do that." (Brad: Yeah, maybe we should.) But I mean, it says Be It Till You See It with Lesley Logan. You should know who I am.Brad Crowell ... you did sort of just introduce me when you mentioned your co host in life, Brad. (Lesley: ... you're introduced. I'm introduced. So I'm covered.Lesley Logan So I'm the only one who is never introduced because I don't introduce myself on an interview and I don't ... If you're new, let me know if it's confusing as to who I am in any episode. That's what I like to know. Because if it's not then this is not an issue. We can keep moving on. Anyways, we are still in Cambodia. (Brad: Yes.) Which means we are recording this as if it's happening when you're listening to it. But really we're recording it before, we going on a flight. And so I'm I'm I'm manifesting how fucking awesome Cambodia.Brad Crowell Yeah, right now I am, I am, I'm half, I'm up to my knees in the Cambodian River. No ...Lesley Logan No, he's not. We don't get in the water.Brad Crowell ...river. It's gross. (Lesley: We don't get in the water.) But we are probably hiking through a jungle.Lesley Logan Oh, well, we're supposed to be in a waterfall.Brad Crowell Well, it's a Thursday ... (Lesley: So we have already ...) But it's Wednesday here. Thursdays? Yeah, yeah, we will be out of what, we might actually literally be at a waterfall while this is happening.Lesley Logan Yeah, there's a waterfall in Cambodia. And if you are on our retreat, you already know that we're doing this for you. But it's a surprise. (Brad: Surprise) Because we don't usually do the waterfall. If we're a big group, we just can't (Brad: Yeah) there's just not enough time. But with a small group we can. So it's so friggin exciting. And then we come back and Brad goes to Philly. No, we don't, we come back together. (Brad: And we will go to Arizona.) And we go to Arizona. Yeah, then I might to TBD on the actual scene of the Grand Canyon since I have only seen it from a plane. And if you don't know the story in 2018, when I was like, I'm not going to East Coast unless we drive. And so we were in a really tiny SUV and drove cross country. And we were driving through the south and I were going the Grand Canyon. And I said, Brad, I just heard in the bathroom that we're driving in a blizzard that unbeknownst to me, so a little crazy weather but I was just like, I guess this is winter. I'm not from, I'm not from any place, but California. It's the Grand Canyon. You can't miss it.Brad Crowell It's like you can see it from space. It's the Grand Canyon.Lesley Logan Let me just tell you, y'all. It was a whiteout. You could not, you could, I don't know how to show you this because this is a podcast and I also don't have to show it to you on YouTube because we're not putting it here. But maybe Amanda can post on the @be_it_pod Instagram, the pictures of me seeing the Grand Canyon in real life for the first time with my feet on the ground. You can't fucking see the Grand Canyon. (Brad: Yeah) Not even on the near side. Even we like tilted it like look, here's the Grand Canyon 10 feet from us. You can't see it. So it's like run because I'm not getting snowed in this place.Brad Crowell I know it was coming down so hard. It was literally like if we don't move right now we might not be able to leave.Lesley Logan Yeah, yeah. So at any rate, um, the hope is that I get to camp one night at the Grand Canyon. And then we come back (Brad: Yeah.) And Brad leaves me to go to the Thanksgiving at his parents place and see his grandfather and (Brad: Yeah) his family. And then he comes back and I leave for Dallas, Texas with Erika Quest.Brad Crowell Yeah ...Lesley Logan And then we come back, I come back, and then we drive to Texas.Brad Crowell Yeah then we ... (Lesley and Brad laughs) Yeah, you come back out. You're we're here for less than a week. And then we hit the road.Lesley Logan If I did want to see New Mexico and I and I had a way to like have my own place in Dallas for 10 days. I probably just stay there but that's not really I really want to see New Mexico. So anyway, I'm coming back. So it's a very busy winter for us. And it's because we're going on tour. But just to go back if you are like, "Wait, you're gonna be in Dallas with Erika Quests?" Yes, we are. And to be honest, how can you get on that? (Brad: You're gonna have to DM us.) You gotta DM me because the reality is is well ...Brad Crowell Well you there for some workshops.Lesley Logan I'm there for some workshops. It's only workshop. We are teaching classes on the tour. We'll be back in Dallas at each class on the tour. But the space is very limited. And so you got to hit me up to get this special link.Brad Crowell I think Dallas will be teaching class on like 13th, 14th or 15th of December, I can't ever exactly ...Lesley Logan One of those is Dallas and one of those is Houston. (Brad: Right.) Yeah.Brad Crowell Yeah. So anyway, stay tuned.Lesley Logan But the workshops, let me just like be like really quick like, toot my own horn. It's my fucking podcast, its what we do. But Erika Quest and I, are teaching how classical and where classical and contemporary collide, which is not where we compare classical and contemporary exercises, we actually are colliding them together. It's a really fun, empowering workshop. We are, we did it in Chicago, we're making it a four hour workshop this time. So we're super excited. And then the next day, she's got a really fun workshop going on. And then I go solo on like building your tower up, because so many people are like, how do I make a tower class? So I'm super excited the first time I'm gonna teach this workshop. (Brad: Cool) I love building tower classes up. This is where I get created. (Brad: Yeah) So we're doing that. There's anything that interests you and you are in the Dallas area, you can hit me up. And if you are wanting to work out with me in Dallas or Houston, then you should hit me up anyways, because I'm the only one who has these links. (Brad: There you go.) Do we have a question?Brad Crowell Yes ... So we got, we've love this question kind of was a spinoff from the question from the last recap. So ... (Lesley: Oh, way to go team.) And the reason is because I actually had a whole conversation with one of our retreaters about the ... of the idea, the process of falling asleep. And she said, I have trouble sleeping, I can climb into bed, and I leave myself enough time. But then I find that I'm I just can't sleep, I can't sleep. And so I asked her like, "Okay, why? Are you, are you thinking?" And she's like, "Yes, I'm totally thinking the whole time. And I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I'm thinking and I'm not sleeping, sleeping, sleeping instead. And ...Lesley Logan And by the way, thinking when I'm not sleeping, and looking at your clock makes it worse, don't look at the clock, don't count down.Brad Crowell So I have spent a lot of time studying sleep, which is ironic because I don't sleep very much. And it's ...Lesley Logan I am making him sleep more because (Brad: It's a constant battle.) I need him to live as long as me or longer. I don't wanna be the first to go.Brad Crowell And one of what I figured out, I'm just gonna let you keep saying those things. That's great. I love you and I'm not dying. But the point is, the point is for me, for me, and probably for most, sleep is actually a decision. Okay, so the problem with the thinking is that you have not decided to sleep.Lesley Logan Oh, that's interesting. I think that's true. Because how many times are you talking to me and I in the middle of a sentence, I just, I'm asleep. (Brad and Lesley laughs)Brad Crowell Hey love that so great that we're gonna .... you're asleep. So so like, you get in bed, because you have to get in bed. It's an obligation, Okay, I better go to sleep now. Instead, it's like, I got to do it, because I have to do it right now. And, you know, instead of the idea that I am going to sleep. When you can hear that in the background. Our dog is literally digging up the new carpet that's she uses for workout. (Lesley: The new, new carpet.) The new carpet (Lesley: And so...) that she's deciced it's not comfortable enough. And she's pulling it off the floor.Lesley Logan It's not comfortable. I don't care. It's a beautiful rug. Brad Crowell Yeah. Anyway, the point is, you know, there are a handful of tips that I can absolutely recommend. That will allow you to go to sleep the and there's a bunch of stats, the average person takes seven minutes to fall asleep. The tips that I can give you are this, if you find yourself thinking, thinking, thinking, remember you are not only are you going to make a decision of when you fall asleep, but you're going to make a decision of when you're going to wake up. Okay? Because this is going to help you not sleep through your alarm, which I'm so good at doing. But when I make the actual decision, I literally say to myself, tomorrow I'm gonna get up at 8:30 or 7:15 or 6:53, it doesn't matter. But if I specifically say I'm going to get up at x time, then when that clock rolls around, I actually do it. I actually get out of bed. If I don't literally say I'm gonna get up at x time. When that alarm goes off. I'm like, "Oh, I'm probably okay to sleep for another 10 minutes." Right. And then I sleep 20 minutes. So there's decisions that are being made here. So but there are some suggestions that I can make for you about actually stopping your mind from spinning. Get a pen and paper put it next to your bed every time you have a thought. What we talked about in the last episode is that you're probably worried you're going to forget something you have to do. So write that thing down. Now you can give yourself permission not to try to remember that you don't need to remember it is written down, you can now relax. Because you're not stressed that you have to remember this, that stress is going to keep your mind going. So that you remember to do the thing tomorrow, don't forget, right? So that's a huge thing. If you are an ideator, like me, when I go to sleep, I've what I used to find myself, like, that's when I was writing a new song. I don't know why, why is that the time I don't know. But that's when my brain is like, "Wow, I got this really cool idea." I would then record a voice memo on my phone. So then again, I don't have to try to remember it, because I won't remember it. And that stresses me out. And then I would stay away, try to remember it. Right. Another thing you can do is focus on your breathing. Okay, and the breathing in through the nose. And it could be out of the nose or mouth.Lesley Logan It should be in and out through the nose for sleep. It's grounding.Brad Crowell Yeah. But the what when you create an even breath, in and out through your nose, I find it allows my mind to wander and the wandering, not the thinking. The wandering is actually my secret sauce for how I go to sleep. I literally put myself in my own movie in my head. Okay.Lesley Logan I can't wait to tell you about how I fall asleep because we have a different way to fall asleep.Brad Crowell I put myself in my own movie in my head, where I'm the, I'm either like the lead character or I'm falling along as like, third party, but I'm envisioning the scenery. I'm feeling it, smelling it, seeing it, like I'm actually in an environment that I'm creating. And I let my mind continue to create that, that environment and that scene and that thing that's happening. And literally, I find myself dreaming about that.Lesley Logan I love these things. (Brad: Yeah) They're all really helpful. A couple things. There are tons of studies about sleep you like if you ever hear me talk about ideal schedule. The first thing I'm going to tell you that goes in your schedule is when you go to bed when you wake up, when you go to bed, and when you wake up. You, I don't care what else you think is the most precious thing. I don't care if it's your amazing children, I don't care if it's brilliant job, I don't care, I don't care. I don't care how much it pays you. When do you go to sleep and when you wake up is the first thing goes in your calendar. And it's very important. Because there's so much that sleep is in charge that you cannot be it till you see it if you aren't sleeping. And I promise you this because if you're not sleeping, you're not going to prepare your body for digestive cycle. If you don't go through digestive cycle, you don't absorb nutrition, if you don't absorb nutrition, it doesn't matter how (Brad: Stress) positive you are, you have high stress, you'll stop producing stomach acid, your B12, your vitamin D, your absorption rates are gonna go down. You can be the most positive person in the room and you'll become the most depressed person in the room ... (Brad: How do you know this?) Because it was me. (Brad laughs)Brad Crowell Actually ... it became a vicious cycle (Lesley: Yeah) because she ...Lesley Logan I had stomach issues which causes sleep issues. Which cause stomach ...Brad Crowell And sleep issues cause stomach issues. Right. So it was now the chicken or the egg.Lesley Logan Yeah, and it was, it was, it was insane. So Arianna Huffington has a book called Sleep. Cuz home girl probably should read this book. Home girl also was like, "I'll sleep when I'm dead." (Brad: Yeah, that's literally I used to say. I'll sleep when I'm dead.) She broke her jaw of her nose. She broke her face because she ... she had her head like her face on her hand. And she was reading and she literally slipped and her whole face hit the desk. (Brad: Yeah.) And she broke her body. (Brad: Yeah.) So she ended up studying sleep. And there's a lot of things you can do. First of all, a sleep routine. And this is really important, just like a morning routines important, a sleep routine is actually really important. You could, you you should sleep in the same clothes or as close to the same clothes as possible every night. This is going to help you so like literally it's just sleeping. So unless you're sweating, like you probably wear your sleep clothes a couple of times a row or by by five of them and like habit there and so you have the sleeper ... do your brushing teeth, face washi whatever your stuff is in the same order at night, it will literally prepare your brain for sleep because it no... "Oh, when I do this, I go to sleep." So it's it's the same as like training an animal. Like there's these things that happen and then your brain goes okay, like's routines. Second, you should not be looking at your screens, ideally two hours before sleep but like please, please, please at minimum one hour. One hour before bed, my dog and my dog is a little loud. (Brad: He's growled up.) I know. Because I'm waking up his sleep. (Brad: Yeah.) So one hour before bed, no screens. It's like, I cannot tell you how many studies are out there. Like literally ladies who are in love with Huberman. He even says it. Okay, so if you're not going to take my word for it, if you're looking for a handsome doctor, he says it. So it's really really important. That is why if you missed the last recap episode, you heard me say my phone doesn't come with my dog walk. Because that actually gives me at least 90 minutes before bed sometimes two hours before I go to bed to go, one of my sleep routines is actually fall asleep to the same music every night. How do I do this? My phone's not with me. Guess what? Google Voice, Google Play, whatever, Siri, all these things are amazing. You all technology to do this. I literally just press play on it. If we want to walk, it's playing in the room. So when I walk into the room, the room is already set up for sleep. And it goes off at a certain time. If I said that, that's a new thing I have to have have happened. But ...Brad Crowell But also you can talk to Google Home. (Lesley: Yeah, I just thought ...) And you can say hey, (Lesley: turn the music off) yeah, turn off the music in 25 minutes ... I also have a sunrise alarm clock. And just so that you understand she actually keeps her phone in the living room. And then it's Bluetooth through the wall, to our Google Home speaker in the bedroom. And then so she sets it playing the mute her sleep music before we go into dogwalk. Then we walk for I don't know, an hour, and then we come home. And then she has her sleep routine. And once she's climbed into bed, the music's still been playing this whole time. Then she tells Google, turn it off and you know, 25 minutes (Lesley: Yeah) or 15 minutes or whatever. And ...Lesley Logan Yeah, I like to give myself a little, I like to give myself more time than I know that I need because there's nothing more stressful than the music going off because I fall asleep and you're like ...Brad Crowell But how do you wake up with your alarm (Lesley: Okay) on your phone and it's in the other room? How does that work?Lesley Logan So I have a sunrise alarm clock that by the way also has a sunset thing. This is also a proven thing and I am not a napper, I hate fucking napping. But I've had a nap occasionally. And I use my sleep routine to help me nap. So I have on the music that I play. And then by the way, I hate to go on a plane I have the same music as downloaded to the phone so that if I'm on a plane, I can play it, so I can get some amount of sleep on a plane because I freakin hate sleeping sitting up. But I have this sun set alarm at sunsets on me even for a nap. And then a sunrise I set the sunrise to go and the room just gets brighter in my face. And I wake up and I don't wake up groggy, I wake up like it's time to get I can't even hit snooze. Even when I want to, I sometimes like I don't really need to get up on the via rebel like Brad I'mma snooze this. I can't, every time I try, I'm like, fuck I sneak it up.Brad Crowell We will put a link to this sunset or the sunrise sunset alarm (Lesley: This people should ...) in the show notes because it's it's a really cool device. And when Lesley goes out of town, I will literally sleep on her side of the bed and use this to wake up. It's pretty cool.Lesley Logan It's so cool. I'm obsessed with it. And we stay at the Vidar Hotel. And by the way they had and I was like, (Brad: Yeah) "Oh my God, the hotel has my alarm, my alarm lamp. And that's amazing." So asleep routine is going to help you go to sleep as why I don't even take seven minutes. I take 13 seconds. (Brad: Yeah) I'm like out. (Brad: She's like, out.) And by the way, I'm out he can pull the air pods out of my ear for the podcast. (Brad: Exactly.) And I don't even move. I don't even know what happened. I like don't I didn't even know that I fell asleep when we're talking. So and this comes from someone who slept three hours a night for many, many years. So I I'm not saying this from someone who's always had a good time sleeping. That's not who I am. I never napped as a child. My parents hated it because they are nappers and they're like just sit in your room. So so please please please if you need scientific evidence, check out Huberman podcast on sleep. Check out Arianna Huffington spoke on Sleep.Brad Crowell We'll also link to both of those things in the show notes.Lesley Logan Yeah. Have a sleep routine. And if anything happens have a sleep routine, it's going to be great. You'll love it, your brain will love you for it and yes to everything Brad said about writing it down and the decisions all that is true. But get away from your screens. But I don't care if your blue light blue blockers on you know I love those. You have to get off screens and out before bed if you want your brain to stop thinking. Brad Crowell Okay, now let's talk about Joanna Vargas. (Lesley: She's back.) Serial entrepreneur Joanna Vargas has built two brick and mortar Dance and Fitness businesses and multiple event businesses covering dance, running and more. She brings together over 10,000 people every single year at these events that she hosts. Her podcast teaches women how to live fully by asking questions and being curious so they can live longer and make more money. And she is like a Spitfire lover.Lesley Logan She Spitfire. We love her. She's got a great course on Profitable Pilates about filling your classes for life. She's just a rock star like she really, really really is. And also I just had to say, I think this is coming out on her birthday, Happy Birthday, Joanna. We couldn't be at your surprise party because we're in Cambodia. (Brad and Lesley laugsh) So anyways, that just came to me. One thing that I love that came up in a story she shared about dancing should be an invitation for others who was dancing alone, inspiring others. So this has led this event with all these women. (Brad: Yeah) And she was out there ...Brad Crowell ... 200 women, (Lesley: and no one was dancing) And there was a DJ kicking ass, and no one was dancing.Lesley Logan And we were descending Chicago, and there was a dance floor with an incredible DJ. By the way, I don't even know why I interview him except for just to like, just because I wanted to be his friends. (Brad: He is fancy. He is good.) We have the same shoe. We love sparkles. (Brad: Oh yeah) But he was amazing DJ. (Brad: It was great.) And, of course, no one was dancing by themselves. And no one's danced by themselves. So everyone's like waiting for the crowd to start. And it starts with someone and but Joanna had no other crowd, she just danced by herself. It turned out because she did that she was having a conversation and then getting a gig out of it. And it's by being herself. So she was an invitation for others to do something that was scary. And then it (Brad: Yeah) ended up becoming an invitation for herself.Brad Crowell Yeah, I mean, I think I think the the, have you ever been in a classroom? And someone else asked the question that you have. And you're like, "Oh, I'm so happy that they asked a question. That was my question." But you didn't want to to ask the question. Well, the person who asked the question was giving, they were being the invitation for you to ask that question. And to be honest, ask other questions too, right. And when you be the invitation for other people, you're you're actually showing that you're a leader, you're you're an authority, you are confident there's all these kinds of things that are that people then look at you they also and and what I thought was interesting about this, Joanna talked about the conversation she had with herself. She's like, these people probably think I'm drunk. I'm dancing alone. Right? How am I am I being the awkward girl right now? And she had to have that mental conversation with herself. Like, you know what? It doesn't matter what they think. I'm, I'm here enjoying this music having a good time.Lesley Logan Well, and I think that goes to like, it's a be it till you see it kind of thing. Because she was like, "Okay, I'm going to be out there. I feel like doing this, I'm going to do it. I'm gonna just get an answer here until I feel comfortable to dance out here by myself." And, you know, sometimes ...Brad Crowell That's a character building right there.Lesley Logan Oh, my God and insane, but like, I, we were at a comedy show. And you could tell that, like, someone had to laugh so other people could feel like, as a ... Am I allowed to laugh at that, like, I gonna laugh . And so I think like, being limitation for others is not only character building, but it's also sometimes the thing that so many people just need to see, they need to see that it's okay to do that. (Brad: Yeah) You know, when we were in Chicago, at Pilates on tour, I was teaching this workshop. And at the end, Erika was like, any last words, I'm like, "Yeah, just like, it's okay to do the best you can." You know, like, it's okay to not be perfect at this. It's okay to, to take a guess sometimes and see where it leads you. If the clients gonna come back the next week. And you could just see everyone go. (Brad: Yeah.) Right. Their shoulders dropped. They exhaled. And, and what happened afterwards with the table. Some goes, "That was the best workshop I ever attended. Is the best workout I've ever attended." And it was a great fuck yeah, it was amazing. I'm great. But I also know because I invited people. (Brad: Yes, you are Babe.) Thank you. (Brad: Yes you are.) Thank you. Toot my own horn. But I also know is because in an everything I do, I really tried to like create an invitation for other people to not be perfect and do the best they can. (Brad: Yeah) It's good enough. It's good enough for today. (Brad: I love that.) What do you love?Brad Crowell Great. So she had a whole nother conversation about choices that I wanted to weigh in on because she basically said, you can't make a wrong choice. And she said, making a choice creates awareness. Which I thought was very interesting, because conversely, we think we are typically taught awareness creates the quote unquote, "right choice." Okay, so she's saying, make a choice. And then you're gonna have more options. You'll see the options in front of you, as opposed to where like, weigh all the options and then make a choice. (Lesley: Yeah.) Okay. So so,Lesley Logan I mean, I really do think it comes back to action creates clarity.Brad Crowell Yeah, I mean, I think the the idea of the weighing all the options first creates analysis paralysis, can create analysis paralysis, right? If you are, if you have, I mean, think about this, this is like classic sales. Three is enough choices. If you have 10 choices in front of you, it's more likely, statistically more likely you will not make any decision, you will make no choice, then if there are three or less choices, two is even better. One is like, okay, then you either take it or leave it, right. But three, you can like mess around with pricing. And like, there's some psychology there. But but you start to get more than that. And it becomes like, I don't actually know what decision to make, because I can't I'm having a hard time comparing them all to each other. So I don't know, what is the quote unquote, "right choice." And anyway, I thought that was really amazing. Because she her argument is, you cannot make a wrong choice.Lesley Logan Yeah. Well, I completely agree with that. I think so many people are like what if I make the wrong decision. It's like, everything is happening for you. You have to believe that. And I know you're like what, Lesley there's so much shit happening. It's like, it is happening for you. I was homeless. I totaled my car, the studio that I rented from closed, my job transferred me. And it's the best thing that ever happened. (Brad: Yeah) Best way... And then I'm not I'm not saying that I'm happy that the pandemic happened. I am not saying that at all, because so many people lost their lives. But it was so scary flying back from Cambodia, and knowing that my entire year's income was completely shut down. (Brad: Yeah, it was scary.) Like the old because because even teaching in person was there's so much uncertainty who is going to want to do virtual? And if they don't do virtual, then what do we do? And that was the best thing ever happened to us. So having to, to do that. So I just want to tell you like you can't make a wrong choice. She can't be she's so right about that. Because the choice you make is oftentimes like, it's like this gut instinct of like, you want to do like a little nudge, little nudge, do that thing. And then even if it doesn't get you the results you wanted. It's never the worst case of the best case scenario. We've all we've already talked about that it's usually somewhere in the middle. And it brings clarity around what you need to do next, and it takes away a lot of fear.Brad Crowell Yeah, I think and I was thinking about this a lot, because I was I was trying to, like, come up with some kind of an analogy or comparison. And it made me think all the way back to the the I think episode two with Rob Lowe. No, Rob ...Lesley Logan Rob Lowe, we've never interviewed him. But Rob Mack is really amazing. (Brad and Lesley laughs) Rob Lowe if you're listening. (Brad: Yeah. Rob Lowe we have to have you on the pod.) Tell me your be it till you see it story. (Brad: Yeah) Well, he has to apply. (Lesley laughs) (Brad: Yeah, we'll consider you.)Brad Crowell Rob Mack was talking about the staircase. And he said, you pretty much put one step one foot in front of the other here. You know, you might actually see all this staircase, but you still can't get to step 25 until you've gone through step 2 3 4 5. What if you cannot see step 25? What if this is like a video game and you're holding a lantern, and you can't see more than two steps in front of you. You literally don't know what else is happening. And right. So so Joanna's argument here is you still have to take a step, make a decision. When you get one step further, you're going to see oh, what's up there? Maybe there's a fork in the road. Now you have a choice to make left or right. Okay, let's go left. Okay, after you've got left now you have another decision to make.Lesley Logan Is a choose your own adventure, which you know, I love. You know, I love it a chooser adventure.Brad Crowell I love it. And honestly, like when you are putting one foot in front of the other that that stops this analysis paralysis, it allows you to continue to move forward, even if you aren't 100% sure. Here's the other thing. Chances are, you can actually turn back and take the right fork if you need to. (Lesley: Well. And can I just say ...) Not always the case, but more often than not.Lesley Logan Yes. And because we had a couple of Agency members say like, I'm gonna two steps forward one step back, and I hate it. And I'm like, you know, It's not that bad you think who's it for? And then you take a step back and you can look back at like, how did it go? And you can actually decide if you want to take that step forward again, or if you want to go somewhere else.Brad Crowell Well, it creates more awareness, (Lesley: Yeah) which is exactly Joanna's point. (Lesley: Brilliant.) Yeah. All right. So finally, let's talk about those BE IT action items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Joanna Vargas? Well, she she said to make the demand of you and then ask the universe. Okay. This is a bit woo for me to be quite frank. But, but I think that, well, the way I'm going to interpret this is to make the demand of you, okay? And it's actually kind of very similar to what we were just talking about. When you make a choice, right, then you can evaluate, okay, so make the demand of you. And then and there's belief here in this like, asking the universe, you know, asking God, asking, you know, (Lesley: source) higher power, (Lesley: Yeah) however it is that you see it. The you have to know that you're moving forward with purpose, okay? And that's where it's like, make make a decision, make a choice, and you're applying that to you.Lesley Logan Well, actually, it's very Pam Grout ish, which is also very law of attraction, which is very Abraham Hicks, which we are very into right now. Morning rampages are the new morning routine. (Brad: Yeah. Awesome.) But um, in Pam Grout's book, she literally says, you have to actually ask for something, you're very specific, which is like making a demand of you. It means it requires you to go, what am I going to ask the universe to show me? And then you have to tell show me, show me it. And then you have to be willing to look for evidence for the universe answering that question. And ... something Scoble Shah, we talked about her a couple episodes ago, but she has that same thing in her book. And on my phone, so I can't tell what it is. But anyways, she's got a great book, go back to a couple episodes, you can tell what is in the comments below. So sorry, I can't remember off the top my head. But anyway, I do. I do think that this is a bit woo, it's also it's also allowing you to go okay, this is the choice I'm going to make. And then I'm going to have the universe participate in this choice, boom. But my biggest takeaway is learning to choose as you go. If you are, if you ever study Talk Less Teach More with me. There's a workshop I did on Level Up MVMT, which is Erika Quests website or if you take eLevate, then you will hear me talk about this. You cannot teach, you cannot talk Pilates into a body, you actually cannot, you actually have to choose exercises that will teach the body what it is that you wanted to do. And how you do that. Sometimes you have to trust your gut. And so that is how I'm interpreting this because it's the that is the actual only place that I feel super comfortable in and actually just going I don't want to be told what exercise to put this from, I can actually listen to my gut and my gut will tell me. And here's what is so cool about that. You don't do how you do one thing that you everything. So if I can actually just lean into that. (Brad: Say that one more time.) How you do one thing is how you do everything. How you want your Pilates mat is how you are like, if you judge yourself in a Pilates mat that you're judging yourself all over the place. So what I get to know to be true is when I am teaching Pilates, I do trust my gut. I really do. When I get in the moment, when I get out of my head and I get into the session when I'm teaching someone. I literally am like listening to like what I'm being like these little thoughts in my head, call me to do right. So I know that I can do this in other things I really do. And when I'm in a when I'm in a not a perfectionist state is actually really easy to do that. (Brad: Sure) I do love this question, will it create more or less in my life because I asked myself something similar when I was in Brazil. I wanted to I was told I should go hang gliding (Brad: hang gliding) hang gliding over the to hook a forest, to hook a forest. I think it's what it's called. It's beautiful forest.Brad Crowell Near the statue. Near the very famous statue ... Lesley Logan Yeah and you go over the river. And by the way, (Brad: Rio), it's a Rio, Rio de Janeiro. And you they don't teach you how to hang glide, just so you know, my guy did. Because I saw he said you see all these people? They're jumping, don't jump that will bring the paraglide down, just run off, run off the end. Like might keep running when those he's like yes, I do. And we land. You're going to keep running and I'm like, Oh my God." But before I did it, I was kind of out of money. And my trip I didn't actually I didn't really have anything on the trip at the first place. But as a flight that I was gonna lose, I had to go. So I was like, will I regret not like when I go home and people ask me how was Rio? What did you do? Will, I regret not hang gliding? Or will I will say no big deal. And I was like I'm gonna I don't have a good enough excuse for not hang gliding. I'm gonna regret this.Brad Crowell I'm not gonna lie. I would love to do that. (Lesley: Oh, we should do that.) Yeah, but my point is, every time you tell the story, I can see the hang gliding And the adventure and excitement and I think that is brilliant that you did that.Lesley Logan It's so fun. Y'all we surfed our way in, like, we like literally rode a wave, but above the air of the inertia of the weight onto the ground. And I had a green smoothie, it was so freakin great. And also, my pilot is the pilot with the number one on his name. And he was hired by the today show to do this. So I like really, I mean, like I had the best experience. But it goes back to this question, will it create more or less in my life? So if you are unsure how to trust your gut right now, just ask yourself that question. And that is like, I don't know what that means. Will I regret it like, well, I look back when I'm 100 years old. Will I be like, "I should have have fuckin' done that."Brad Crowell Yeah.Lesley Logan And you know let us know. I'm Lesley Logan.Brad Crowell And, I'm Brad Crowell.Lesley Logan Thank you so much for being here today. I am so happy to have you as part of our community. This is incredible. Today I am re-airing one of my earlier episodes with someone who has changed the way that I see the world. Her name is Pam Grout, and for those of you who don't know, Pam is a New York Times bestselling author, a travel blogger who has visited every continent except for Antarctica, and a student of A Course in Miracles. In this episode, Pam talks candidly about the loss of her daughter, the little rituals they shared, and how she coped with the grief of her daughter's passing. She shares the wisdom that she's gleaned from her adventures and from the rocky parts of her journey as well, because, even for those who know full well that we co-create our reality, life is still going to test us.Pam also describes her writing journey, the process of writing her bestseller, E-Squared, and her advice for those looking to write spiritual guidance books. Pam's definition of success, after everything she has been through and after writing 20 books, is to see the face of God in every person she meets, and her whole story is incredibly inspiring, so make sure to tune in today!

I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guests will bring Bold, Executable, Intrinsic and Targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Hey loves, how's it going? It's just me today. It's just me today. So hopefully that's exciting for you. We did solo episodes a little bit earlier in the summer, and we got some great feedback from you guys. So we'll be tossing these in. And every once well, especially when it applies to what kind of timely right now, and that is that this is the, that those last few months of the year and they can feel very, they can feel a little worrying, right? Like it starts to get really busy. I know for me, it's very busy. So at the time I'm recording this, we are getting ready for Agency Mini, by the time you share this, we probably have already finished it. But I'm also before that going to Nashville, coming back doing Mini and going to Chicago, coming back doing something else then going to Cambodia. Oh, I forgot there's new people at my house in between all of that for our business retreat. And then and then it's Thanksgiving, and all of a sudden it's Thanksgiving. And so this is a time of the year that can feel really overwhelming. There's a couple things I want to actually remind you of. You get to do this, like you get to do this. And I really, if you are struggling, if you're feeling overwhelmed, I really want you to reframe a little bit and just go, "I get to do this." Now if you don't want to do what you're doing, that is something to write down. So something I think is really cool about how we feel about things is that they are there, there are signs that you don't want to be doing the thing, or you don't be doing the thing with that person or that time. And you the more you pay attention to these things, the more you make notes, the more you can make conscious decisions. So for example, I actually love to travel, I love to go to Cambodia, there are so many things I love to do about it. So I am this busy season, not at no point am I going, oh my God, I have to do all this stuff, I get to do all this stuff. And I actually plan for all these things to happen when they're happening because this is kind of the time of the year that I really like to do all that. I like to pack it in, I like to make sure that we see all the faces of the people that we love. I really do like to do all of those things. Now, in the summertime, when I like want to be in chill vibes, I am not planning those things. I'm not doing them. In fact, when we did do them this summer, just like as a trial, my body was like, "Why are you doing this? It's summertime, it's summer vibes." So what is cool about journaling, or even just documenting or taking note somewhere about how you feel in your body, about different things as they can give you signs, about what to say yes to and no to in the future. And so there have been people who have been requesting a retreat for us to do in the summertime and we're not doing that. Now, there are a couple reasons I can say I don't do that. And they're very valid, that the weather in Cambodia is not exactly, exactly ideal for doing a retreat. Not only is it hot, but there's monsoons and we can't control them. And it's crazy rain, and I don't want people to fly all the way out there. And then we can't see the temples because the rain is insane. Right. So those are some reasons. And the other big reasons I don't want to. I don't want to I want to use my summers to reflect on the meaning of the year to plan for the fall of the year, to make sure we're all set up to rest, relax, to visit with friends as they come into town. So and those are all things I learned over the last couple of years of testing things. So it's okay that you didn't know about the things that you said yes to that you didn't maybe like the time that they were, the location that they were until you did them. That's okay. You don't have to be a psychic. Most of us are not. And in fact, some people who are aren't. So, so I think it's just really important to be kind to yourself, and acknowledge when things feel really good. Okay, what about that feels really good? What is it that people that you're with? Is the time that it was? Is it how it was planned out? What about that feels really good so that you can a) use those as green lights and green signals to say yes to in the future? What about it, didn't you like so you can use those red flags? And so every time I get asked to speak every time we plan a thing we could to look back at, like what didn't work before, what we liked about it, what people liked about it and then make decisions going on, which is why perfect is boring, which is why that waiting until something's perfect is the wrong thing to do. I wouldn't know 90% of this information until I had gone in there, done a retreat in August, done different things at different times of the year. That said yes to programs that were unorganized, disorganized, you know, that kind of thing. So I wouldn't know that, I wouldn't know what is actually important to me about organization and what isn't had I not experienced it and then felt it in my body. And so all of this is to say if you had a summer or for my southern hemisphere people had a winter where there was things that you loved and things that you didn't love, pay attention to what those things are and then use those things for moving forward. Okay.So that is kind of kind of how I kind of kind of it is exactly how I try to say yes or no to things and plan things on our calendar. And it's just really important to me. The other way is just really listening to you guys. So those of you who fill out the surveys at beitpod.com/tellme. Thank you, those are really great, when you interact with us in any of our other programs, Agency, OPC, we do a lot of surveys, we love surveys. They really help us figure out how we can be better at things, what things actually matter to you, you can be really easy ladies too. And I say ladies, I know there's a few good men listening, hello. But there's it can be really easy to think we need to add more, do more, give more. And truthfully, sometimes that can be overwhelming. Or they can be really overwhelming for some people. We'd ask them their server like, "Would you like more episodes?" And some people said, "Yes." And other people said, "It's enough." And I'm like, "Great. I'm not going to do dailies, if you don't want that." Now, if you all want that, then let me know. But we truly don't I don't want to overwhelm you without your request. And also your acknowledgement that that's what you want, right? So this is really great. Whether you're in business or not. And maybe you're like Lesely I'm not in business. You can survey with the people around you. You can you can ask questions, you can get feedback from people about yourself, you can even say, "Hey, you know, I'm actually trying to figure out what I want to do for the end of the year. Can you think of a time this summer where you notice that I was a little bit more frantic, frenetic, exhausted? And can you remember time this summer that I was excited, jubilated and joyful feeling at ease?" People around you spend time with you will know, they'll know. They'll remember. And that can be really helpful. Okay, so I say all this because in the last solo episode, I told you, I was being it till I see it. And right now, and I really have been working on that. And I noticed that there's an old story, I'll have to tell myself, which is that I'm too busy. Maybe you know that one, maybe you know that story. And sometimes I, in order to feel like I am in control of things that are uncontrollable, I will do more. So then they're not easy. And, and I'm getting stressed out and, and so that doesn't work. So I've been really working on some mantras and daily meditations, I've actually changed my morning routine a ton, and I'm still tweaking it as we speak. And for someone who loves routine that can be overwhelming, and also can be really exciting. It's really all how you reframe it. So one of the things that I am trying to do is a) work on my sleep. I've actually always had struggle with sleep situations, and stress. So I am someone who just because the childhood that I had I and it wasn't bad. Honestly, it wasn't bad. It just that I, as an oldest child of little kids and we're all born around the same time. I definitely took on a lot of stress around me and tried to fix a lot of things and do over the doer. I'm a doer. And I pride of myself on that actually I'm an, it's one of my strengths, I'm really good at. But a strength can be a weakness if you don't know when to use it and when not to use it. Right. So in these last couple of months, I've been really looking at my morning routine and seeing where parts of it can be switched into the afternoon because I do work from home. And what I could add to my morning that would allow me to set myself up to be in the most abundant receiving ease, ease full mode, strength base mode, just totally in tune like I really want the mornings to feel less like, Oh my God, I have all these things to do." And more like, "Okay, I get to do these things," kind of like how I started this episode. And that's something I share with you because something that I have always struggled with like I'm a very positive person like bright side up kind of person, but equally can get a little down about things especially when things are out of my control. So then I start to do more and then when does it happen is I'm not in receiving mode, I'm not actually noticing opportunities around me and I'm too busy to be the person I want to be for those I love. So that is not prioritization of self, that is not putting myself first, that is not taking messy action, that is trying to be perfect in some other way. And so the last couple of months I've really been doing that and I started off with adding in my red light therapy to that routine. I also stopped doing my morning Instagram talks, you guys it's not because I don't love doing them. I just was like I really want to take in the surroundings more, I really want to be at ease more. I don't actually want to have to work right now. Right. So that doesn't mean I won't do them anymore. It just means I need to do them later in my morning and I'm working on putting them back in. So as I be it till I see it, what I am doing is catching myself when I say I'm too busy and doing what I would think a non busy person who is confident and positive and abundant and supportive of their business and their team and their dreams would do? So that's the whole premise of the Be It Till You See It Podcast acting as if before you're ready, right? So if I look at, if I think what a woman who runs a massive company, who takes care of herself, what does she do? How is her morning routine? What is that setup? So I did a lot of research on things you can do to make your body sleep better. As I mentioned, I'm working on my sleep. So your sleep for the night starts in the morning before and we can thank Huberman for his podcasts on that. But and there's a bunch of other studies on that. But really, truly, like, I do already wake up pretty early. So I do get the morning light of the day. And so I was like, "Okay, well, that's helping my sleep out. So what else can help my sleep out?" So I've been working on doing those things. So I've been changing my morning routine up to rabbit symbol, what I imagine a woman who runs a company, who prioritize prioritize their self first but do the morning. And that required some changes in my morning because I was really pushing a lot of things into my morning routine, and feeling the sense of urgency that they had to get done, and they weren't of ease. And of course, that's what we're trying to be until we see is that easefulness on this and running this business. And so I have in the last few weeks shifted that morning routine to my workout. Some of them happen a little later. Sometimes they happen in the same time. So every day is actually now different, which is weird for me. But I'm finding a lot of fun in that and flow in that and a little bit of like rebelliousness that I don't always let myself have in that. So that's super cool. I will when we get to my favorite things list off a lot of the things that I'm doing in the morning that you can borrow, we've got affiliate links or links below that you can enjoy. So as I be it till I see it in that what it is challenging me on is watching my responses to things because no longer do the old responses, the quick responses apply, I actually need to take a step back. And so when I say, "Oh, I don't have time." I actually go right now. When does that need to be done and then I look and see when I can get it done. And it's kind of amazing. I used to also think I didn't have time to meditate every day. Wrong. I have since figured out that I can. So watching the stories I tell myself that are keeping me from being it till I see it is something that I am in constant practice with. And I wonder if I always will be. I don't know, jury's out, I'll keep you posted. So hopefully that is helpful for you just like seeing like, not perfect. We're still working on it. Every day is kind of a challenge based on like the old way of thinking and the stories I told myself that made me feel safe and made me feel secure, that made me you know, not go off and do some crazy things. And now those things are actually holding me back and the growth of what I'm trying to do. And like I am on a mission, more bodies doing Pilates, and I cannot do that if I don't think I have time. Because I need to be able to create time so I can tell you how to create time. Right. So okay, now, some of you always ask us, like, what are some books I'm reading right now. And I am going to let you know, since I talked to Coach Lee, I have been doing my E-Squared book, I'm not doing it as quickly as I did the first time, I'm kind of stopping at different chapters and waiting until I want to do the experiment before I go on to the next chapter. So I it's actually going really cool and it's actually a really good reminder. There are some things that she wrote in there that I want to just like paint on my walls. So E-Squared by Pam Grout, she's still on the list to get on the pod. So if you know her hook a sister up. Okay, um, then I was I had some girls out, you may remember Brad and I the time I had some girls come to visit that I kind of met through friends of friends. And we all like, "Let's do a friend's weekend." And I highly recommend you do that. I know that can sound really scary. And really, it can be even expensive sounding. The truth is you can you can make it whatever it needs to be. But shared experience is really do make a difference in how you feel and who you surround yourself with makes a difference. We have had multiple multiple guests come on, and we have another guest coming up who is going to tell you that it really does make a difference who you invite into your energy, who you invite into your circle and how much time you spend around them. And so it might require some boundaries. So on that girls weekend, they ment... mentioned, Florin Sho... Scholar Shine. Hold on, let's just pull up her book because I just finished it. It's actually really old. Okay, so I listened to it on Audible and I'm going to be super, oh Florence Scovel Shinn, there it is. So, my autocorrect, I got that weird. So I got the complete works on Audible. I don't even think it charged me a credit. And somebody reads it. The words that she uses, like Victrola. And I just imagine people walking around like the old old New York of like, the 1890s As I'm reading it, but the stuff still makes sense. And it does mention God a lot. So you can insert your own word for that there. And she does and occasional spots but I listened to it on a dog walk because I was like, I just need to be around as much positivity as I can. And the first book I will say is the best one of all of them. A great reminder of being very like actually knowing what you need more of, and, and asking for that. And then being aware of that we've talked about that with Dr. Philippe Douyon, where it's like your eyes and ears are seeing what your brain is looking for. So if you're very co... conscious of what it is that you're looking for, you will then look for evidence for that. And there was some really cool stories in that first book. So I really recommend it. The rest of them it was it was good. I think the first one is a good good place to stop. I have Burnout by Emily and Amelia Nagos... Nagoski, on my Audible that I'm going to next. It's actually part of the book club that we have for Agency. And I'm really excited about I heard them on Brené Brown, and I've had it on my list for a long time. It is a long book. So it's just been working my way to it. And then I just bought the source that we talked about in Stef Caldwell's episode, there's actually a couple books called The Source. So if you actually look back at Stef's episode, we'll put the link in the show notes. There's a specific the source that we want. But again, it just goes into this. There's science around manifestation. And when you can't just do all the things like we... it is we're telling ourselves a lie if we think that we can control all the parts are going to make anything happen. There are a lot of things, there's always a lot of things going on. In fact, like there's stuff in your personal life that's going on, great and not so great. There's stuff in your professional life that's going on, great and not so great. There's stuff in your health that's going on, great and not so great. Right? It is like a disservice and illusion if you think you can actually control all of those things you can't. So you can do what you can do. And then the next thing you have to do is like think like Hazel Ortega have some miracle goals around it be really specific, and then start looking for evidence for it to be true. So I'm like big on those books, I really think that they're gonna help me as I close up this year. As I plan for what we're gonna do in 2023, it has been an interesting 2022 and just doing a lot of things, testing things, changing things. And so I am trying to spend a lot of time on what do I really want? What are we doing all this for? How do we want to be when we're doing that? That's what I'm working on. So as with those books are going to you'll see there's a theme there. As always, you know, you can ask us any questions, you can DM the pod on Instagram and ask us any questions that you have around business, health, personal goals, and Brad and I will answer them on the recaps. And we want your question. So please do DM us. Okay, now, two of my favorite things. Okay, so I Brad calls me a total consumer. It's true. I am, I I really am and I have a lot of fun trying out new things. I do, I don't do a ton of research but I will oftentimes, like want something, look it up. I say yes to all the cookies, because I'm like, yes, track me down, ratio this to my face, let me know when you're having some Labor Day sale. You know, I'm like a, I'm a big fan of cookies. And you guys, you can all use cookies and ads to like, help you see the things you want to see. So you can hate them. But like that's how small businesses make money. And also big businesses too. But the other thing is, is like you can actually say yeah, actually, I would love it if you show me more of this, you just click on the ad and then that they'll, make sure you see that more often. So anyways, um, couple of these things gonna talk to you about are things that have been on my list for a while. So first thing, we talked about my red light therapy before, I really love the one that I have. I have it on, I actually bought like a tray for it that's on wheels, it's like a little stand on wheels, so that I can wheel it in front of my meditation chair, and then I can wheel it back into the closet. So I'm super excited about that. First I had to just like out on a thing, and I had to move it, move it back. And you know what, let's just be really honest, people, it's hard, we're not going to do it right. So I had to, I had to go buy a tray on wheels to make it a little easier. But it is one of the best purchases I've made to go along with that. And there is a ton of studies on red light therapy for people, especially in the morning. And so I'm a big fan of that. And I will say that I have sat in front of it even in the evening when I haven't been feeling as my positive self. And I feel better when I'm done being there. So it's great. I'll read a book on that. What like I'll read a book on my meditation chair in front of the lamp, I'll do breathwork in front of the lamp. I read some emails the other day in front of the lamp like I that's where going back to my morning routine changing on different days, the red light is either part of my meditation, or it's just part of my morning work day so that I can still get it in which is actually super, super cool. Then to go along with this, my chiropractor now light he had both this red light and something called a PEMF mat and I put the link it's my actual affiliate link below. So it should get you directly to the mat and also some fun little goodies that go along with it. And I am I've been wanting this mat for about six months. Every time we go I lay on I have like an hour, I really, it's hard to explain how amazing it makes me feel. But it really does make me feel great. And so I've been saving it, letting it, show up in my ads all the time. And we finally got one and I have used it everyday since. And I'm, this is where I go back to that story. I told myself, I'm too busy. Well, guess what, folks, I wasn't too busy to find an hour each day to lay on it. Since I've got it. So um, so it's kind of crazy. I think when you say you're too busy, you either don't want to do the thing, or you're avoiding doing the thing. And if you're already doing the thing, you're either avoiding it because there's something that scares you about it or you just don't want to do it. So so let that be testament because I bet you the things you really want to do you make time for. Right. So anyways, that link is below I'm obsessed with it. Last time I did a solo episode I told about my favorite water bottle. I'm still obsessed with it. In fact, I have since had a couple of different facials, I have had seen a doctor and my holistic doctor and like, at no point has anyone said I'm dehydrated. I looked hydrated, everything is normal. Everything is great. And I'm super just stoked about this water bottle like it's one of the my favorite things in life. So that link we actually have the affiliate link now and it's below and a bunch of my friends have already bought theirs. We we now I literally almost bought myself another one. And I decided I have to hold back until it's like actually the color I want. So we're patient, we're patiently waiting. Also, I finally got myself a Contrology Wunda Chair. So as you know, if you're in the Pilates world, listening to this. I'm a big fan of that Contrology equipment for my studies with Jay Grimes, like I just really love the way the old equipment was built. And even classical equipment today is not built the same way it was before. And so Contrology has done a wonderful job, really doing a lot of research going back and seeing those old piece of equipment using the old springs to make these new springs and it's incredible. It's very different. We actually got it because we're making the flashcard deck for the chairs now. So if you need an affiliate link to anything by Balanced Body, you can always hit us up, you can those exist on all of our YouTube tutorials. But also, the Contrology equipment is built by Balanced Body and I have an affiliate link for that. But get the Contrology chair is new, it came at the same time as a Ladder Barrel. And I'm sure I'll end up with that. But I really wanted the chair now because we're doing the decks now. And I got it in a really cool blue. I know you've seen my chair, it's hot pink, that color doesn't exist anymore. So I got a hot blue to go with it. I'm just really excited. It's like Barbie pink and Barbie blue like chairs. And I'm just, I think I'm gonna take pictures with them like going to on a date together.Okay, last couple of my favorite things. Naboso hand weights. So I met this woman at Momentum Fest. And I really liked the way that her hand weights felt in my hands like the texture she put in, there's a bunch of science behind it. And as you know, when you do Pilates, you only want one to two pound hand weights. Unless you're my bigger guys. And of course, I'll let you up to five, but nothing more than that, because it gets really distal, and I don't want you to be in your shoulders prefer three actually for you. But anyways, these hand weights are great. They're super fun, you can use them for anything, not just Pilates, and she's got a bunch of other good stuff for waking up your feet, and things like that. So check that out. And then finally, for my business folks who are thinking that they're just too busy, and like, "Where does she find the time?" Here I'm gonna tell you a little secret. In our household, and in our business, we Loom everything. Oh, actually, I'm gonna just be really honest, I don't log into the Loom account as much as everyone else says I'll use Zoom. But Loom Loom is the best. And so you can actually use my affiliate link below. And what it allows you to do is anything that you're already repeating in your life that you do, that you know, you want to someday hand off so life or work, you can Loom. So for example, let's say I don't want to schedule my newsletters anymore. So the next time I go to schedule one, I'm actually going to log into Loom so use my link below to get your account, you'll log in. And then you'll literally just talk to yourself, scheduling your next newsletter. And it will record your screen, record your clicks, record your voice, and you just label it, put in your Dropbox folder. And then when you do hire someone and go, "Here's how you do that. Go take a look at it. Let me know if you have any questions." And hopefully they're able to do it seems to train them. It's all done. So those are my favorite things. Some of them are well most of them are personal health related, then there is some Pilates related and then the business one related. I hope that these are helpful for you. Let me know if you liked this episode, if this if it's if it's good for you to hear like my thought process. I'm a total verbal processor as you can tell, and then what I'm reading and how that helps me be it till I see it and then what I'm using so I can support myself. Y'all, it takes a village okay, it really really does. I do understand that some of the things I'm talking about do come at a cost. And I understand that. So if right now, money is not something you have access to to support who you want to be in this world, can you please take a note out of Rachel Rodgers book, We Should All Be Millionaires. We've talked about this on the podcast before and use the word 'and' instead of 'but I don't have any money', and I don't have any money. And then I really do want you to then listen to that Flo... Florence Scovel Shinn book which I'm pretty sure it's free on on Audible, and hear how like, you can actually just be very specific on what you want. And then your eyes and ears are gonna see an opportunity. Maybe one of these things I've listed, but I say I love ends up at your neighbor's, like, garage sale, maybe ends up on a Facebook sale. Maybe someone's just like, "Hey, I'm moving. I can't take this with me." Right. Like you'd be surprised. What can come to you when you're in receiving mode and when you're aware of what you want. And I hope that these podcasts really help bring that to light and give you something to think about in your life is you can have everything you want. You can. You just have to a) know you want it and then also believe you deserve it, which you do. You don't have to have an excuse for that. You don't have to reason for that. You don't have to explain it to ... to anybody including me. I love you all so much. It is so fun to record these podcasts for you. The solo ones are unique and new for me, so I really do hope that they're helpful. And please if you have feedback, if you have questions, if there is ... guest you want to hear or if you want more solo episodes, then go to beitpod.com/tellme and then we can get you and give us that information and then we can continue to fine tune everything to help all of you, Be It Till You See It.That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It podcast. Pam Grout is a writer who has written many books. Pam's book E2 is one of my favorites. It's also a #1 New York Times bestseller that has been translated into 40 languages and is a New York Times Best Seller with 9 principles that Pam believed to be true. She wrote it so that people can try the experiments to ask themselves... "Is it true that there is a bigger force than you that wants to interact with you, that wants to bless you, that wants to guide you?" E2 is getting ready to celebrate its 10-year anniversary and it's not being dramatic to say, this book changed my life. We impact the world with our energy Kids have a corner on the market on what's real. When you look at children you can see that they view and feel the world differently. Little by little, we learn to block the energy coming in. The things we want are often right in front of us. We have to get into the frequency to be able to see it. We are so busy following rules that sometimes the mystery and beauty can evade us Just like a radio station has a frequency, so do you. It's an energetic force that's not visible. If your radio station is on 99.2 you won't hear 87.3. You dial into the frequencies that you have trained yourself to believe. The experiments in E2 and Thank and Grow Rich can help open you up to see those invisible blessings. Gratitude allows you to get into the higher frequency where miracles and blessings are more apparent to you. Consider problem state versus possibility state. What you appreciate, appreciates. The feeling of being in wonder and awe feels so good. Travel teaches you people are the same no matter where you go. You are connected to everyone and it helps you let go of familiar ruts. Love is who we really are. We are made of love. We haven't applied the truths that we have discovered through quantum physics, and once we do, everything will open up. You'll see whatever you think you know. When you embrace not knowing, you become more willing to experience expansion When you come to trust that the Universe is working with you, it becomes so much easier to surrender. Relax into the unknown. If you only knew how much you are loved, and that no matter what everything is working out it becomes easier to let go. That's the only reality. Until we change the consciousness of the world, we are going to be stuck in the same old patterns. Follow your heart and it will all work out Thinking erroneous thoughts is the only things that can ever be wrong. Asking for guidance to see things differently can change everything. So this episode, I'm really, truly grateful for our guest to be on because I have been wanting to talk more about money, money mindset building wealth. there's so much more I can go into this topic. So if you really love this topic, I do want to hear from you. You can go to the beitpod.com/tellme and fill out the survey and let us know or you can just DM me. But if you really are loving this topic, and if money is keeping you from being it till you see it, then we need to talk about it more. That's what this podcast is for. It's just bringing on experts that can help you be it till you see it. And so besides inspiring stories, I think it's just really important for you to hear information that helps you get out of your own way. And the reality is, is I talk a lot about this a lot with my Agency members, my coaching members, is that money is energy. And as a teacher, you are giving so much energy to your clients. You are pouring into them making sure that they get all the right exercises for their body. And then oftentimes under valuing yourself and under earning. And so therefore, people are paying you what you said, but you're not actually getting the energy back here because it doesn't it's not equal. They can't teach you by the way. I mean, so like they have to pay you for the energy so that you can keep doing what you're doing. And if you are under charging, then of course you're going to reach burnout, and of course exhaustion or just the resentfulness of like, people just not valuing you, but you're not giving them the opportunity to do that. So I'm really hope as you listen through this interview, as Stef and I have what I hope is a conversation that helps you understand not only wealth, why you need it, and how like things you could be doing right now to help you with those thoughts with that, with that mindset, and with the actual action steps to building it. I really hope you get all those. So bring out your notepad, this is gonna be one you want to save. I know I I actually like wrote notes, I you know, I can't read my writing. So I'm gonna have to re listen to see what notes I wrote down. But there's so many great books, you're gonna just like build your book list with this. And you're also gonna get some great quotes that you can remind yourself of just how fucking worthy you are. You are the only person who can do what you do the way that you do it, you're it. And if we do not make sure that you are getting paid the money you need to get paid, then how do we keep you showing up the next day? Like let's just be real, I don't care how amazing of a human you are. If you're not getting the energy repayment back, it's going to be really hard on those tough days to show up and do the thing that you know you're on this planet to do. And when you make money. Right. One of the coaches that I work with Chris Harder. He says "When good people make good money, they do great things." ... Like please remember that because if you are feeling guilty around the money that you're making, we have to shift that because you making good money and then putting it towards the things that matter the most to you. I know for a fact you're going to benefit the people around you. I know not a single person listening to this podcast is a selfish asshole who's just going to hoard it all for themselves. No, you wouldn't listen to this, you would not there's no way you listen to this because I'm all about abundance and that is not being abundant, like hoarding. Right. So, I really hope that this conversation, enlightens you, inspires you, helps you take action. And may we all be part of collapsing this massive gap in women having equal wealth to men. So, Stef Caldwell is our guest this week, take a listen and then please subscribe to her podcast because she's got a really awesome podcast that I'll let her tell you all about in this episode.Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. Let's get started.Okay, Be It listeners. So you know how I say, "Perfect is boring." It really, really is and it's also hilarious and embarrassing sometimes when you do it right in front of someone you're so excited to talk about. And I share all this because Stef Caldwell's here, and we got to talking and we got so excited. And then I looked at him as like, "You know, something doesn't feel right. Something's wrong. Oh, I didn't hit record." And I share that with you before I introduce Stef Caldwell. Well, because you're gonna make mistakes, you're gonna make mistakes. And you're gonna be like, "Oh, my God red in the face." And you know what I say just make them more often and it's really les... that's uncomfortable. So Stef Caldwell, is someone I had to have on the show and she's already heard. And now you're hearing. I was listening to her on the Laurie Harders podcast, I was getting in the shower. And I made the podcast stay on just on full blast. And I was agreeing with everything, loving everything, taking notes. And then I DM her. I was like, "You have to be on my show." I have to have you on here. And so Stef Caldwell, you are you are amazing at helping build women, helping women build wealth. And I actually want you to share everyone who you are and why you rock it that.Stef Caldwell Well, seriously, I'm so excited to be here. And for the listener, I mean like failure, failure of messing up, starting over. That is the point like if you think the point of any of this is anything different than that than the point that you think it is, is wrong. (Lesley: Yeah) So hello, everybody, I'm Stef Caldwell, Personal Development Author, Angel Investor, Tech Startup Operator and I like to say fun-haver because again, like you only live once. What is the point of any of this if it's not a total freakin blast along the way.Lesley Logan I, you know, you're exactly right. And thank you for also saying that because it's like, I think I know that everyone listening to this and maybe even I don't know about you. But for me, I grew up everything had to be perfect before I could even get started like it just had to be like this. And that is the opposite of having fun. You cannot (Stef: Absolutely.) you cannot perfect having the fun time. So you can't live in both places. So I've just I'm grateful for that. And also, what is your what's your favorite way to have fun?Stef Caldwell Oh my gosh. I mean, I love a good hike with a girlfriend. I love a good boating day. I love, like last night I went saw Joe Rogan stand up. I like I would see stand up every night if if I could (Lesley:same) laughing like just laughing for the sake of laughing and like scewing around. I was listening to another podcaster or some gal and she's like, "Never lose the art of just screwing off. Just to screw off." And like I that's you know what I typically do on a Sunday when I'm not doing this.Lesley Logan Well, first of all, I love that. Second, I would also I wanted to be in stand up. I really like thought like, "Oh my God, that's the thing I should be doing." But (Stef: Yeah) I can't stay up past 10 o'clock if like I really can't. I have like really try and there's occasional moments where it happens and like, "Wow, see, I could do it." I can't like I need to be a lunchtime comedian like people who want to be like 2 pm. (Lesley and Stef laughs)Stef Caldwell Can we normalize lunchtime comedians, (Lesley: Yes) because I will share this. When I was early in my career, I had read that learning improv and stand up can be really good for a sales career. So I went and I we've got in Chicago, this school called Second City, Tina Fey trained there. You know, I think like Bill Murray trained there, right, like notable comics have trained there. And went took lessons and everything was so late at night. I was like, "This crew is not going to be for me. I like bedtime by eight." You know, this is just (Lesley: Yeah) kind of the table this one for future life.Lesley Logan Yeah. No, same. So like, that's what happened. I was in a comedy class and I literally stopped going because I was like, I am falling asleep driving home like this (Stef: Right, right.) is not working for me. (Stef: Same.) So since we're not actually professional comedians, (Stef: Yeah) because clearly, we weren't born with that, that body clock. So when you're not ha... like the times that you are not having like the fun or hiking with a girlfriend like hopefully your work, it's fun. But what are you doing because you got your prof... your profes... Oh, my God. Hello, Lesley, Personal Development Author, like what made you get into these things and what are you doing on your daily basis?Stef Caldwell Yeah, yeah. So as in terms of my career, I have always worked in tech startups. And that's been, you know, a multi decade journey doing everything from selling products to marketing products, to working directly with customers to keep them around, to use those products to actually building the products themselves. And about six years ago, I woke up in a tech startup days after I didn't get this promotion that I had raised my hand for. And, of course, you know, like, if you work in tech startups, like they are traditionally run by white men and there's nothing wrong with my white men. I love them. I've got two white men brothers and a white dad. But I was like, "You got to be kidding me." Like the glass ceiling that everybody told me about. I finally ran smack into it and this really, really sucks and so I remember at the time, you know, reading reading some some quote that like, in terms of like, overall gender equality were 208 years away from like, when women will be equal with men. And I was just livid. (Lesley: Yeah) I was like, "What?" And so it really just set me on this journey to be the best that I could be to turn around and help other women, you know, be the best that they could be, and ultimately to, to write a personal development book while still kind of maintaining my career in technology, because I believe that women have a space there and, and that there's a lot we can do if we continue to participate in that environment.Lesley Logan Okay, so first, what's the book called? So, I can go read it..Stef Caldwell Yeah. The book is called ManifestHer. And there's a subtitle, which the essence of it is like, helping young women manifest their biggest dreams and lives.Lesley Logan I love that. I, you know, people hearing the part where you didn't get the promotion could get upset at that. And then there's like, obviously, like the looking back up, like, at least for me, I'm like, thank goodness, you didn't, because it made you go read this thing and go, "What the fuck like, like, I'm here." You know what I mean? Like, the frustration of that is what really put you on the path to where you are right now. And like the things that you're doing today. And so like, while I wish for you to always have the success you want, like, there's something about hitting those walls that really helped us become who we're supposed to be. (Stef: Yeah.) So for the, for the person who's listening to like, like, when you hear that number, 208 years, it feels like, it just it kind of can feel like an overwhelming and a little bit debilitating, like, what are, how are we supposed to get to 208 years to be now. (Stef: Yeah, yeah. I mean ...) I don't want to wait to 208 years. I'm not gonna live that long.Stef Caldwell Literally, I think every single day, how do we collapse that. And there's so many ways, I think the easiest ways are like looking inside of ourselves, and really getting a sense for our worth. And what that translates to in terms of our hourly rate, or annual salaries, and making sure that the worth that we feel is the worth that's reflected in the paychecks that we are, you know, either getting from our employers or getting, you know, by building building our businesses. I think the second thing that you can do is take that wealth and instead of spending it or giving it away is investing in it, or investing in your future investing in the markets. I joke oftentimes that like we can go and we can blow you know, 200 bucks at Target. But do you own $200 worth of target stock? My guess is that if you put the same amount of money that you're gonna go blow your favorite publicly traded company into their stock, that you would feel, feel and realize gains over time. And that's like a really specific example, don't go invest in target stock. There's definitely better mechanisms for you ...Lesley Logan Don't take stock advice from a podcast. (Stef: Right, right.) But particular with ones that we don't know what day you're listening to this. But okay, so first of all, like I'm like, yes. Okay, invest and then it's like, right, how, like, what, like, how do you know which, like, how, like, what's the first step to like doing that? Because I think that that's totally wise, because then every time you go and shop at said, Target, you are at least like benefiting your personal interests. But um, for the person who's like, "Yeah, but I don't actually even know how to do that." Like, where do they need to go to learn? Is there a class there supposed to take?Stef Caldwell Yeah, I mean, there certainly are classes that you can take, I think it just starts by getting curious. Asking, you know, "For every dollar that I'm earning, how can I put this dollar to work for me." And you'll find there's so many different thought leaders in the space that I've like, looked to over the course of my financial journey from I remember, like getting out of college, and like Suze Orman was like, the person that I've admired, recommended. And she's just like a women's kind of like, personal development meets money, money, you know, mindset guru, then there's like the Jen Sincero of the world that will really help you step into mindset, there's the Tony Robbins of the world that will help you, you know, build kind of some structure around how to treat and handle your wealth. And then there's also like people that you can pay that literally for a living can help you maximize your total earning potential over the course of your life.Lesley Logan Yeah, yeah, I mean, I highly recommend it. And also, like, Suze Orman helped me like, actually get out of credit card debt from after college, because like, who was charging her books on credit cards, that'd be me. I was like, "I need this book for this class." And so I like read her a little note about, like, how to pay off your credit cards faster. And it actually worked. Like it was like, take pay off the smallest one and then go on to the biggest one, you'll have more money. And I was like, "Oh." But I, I know that, you know, we're all I was often raised, like, just save the money and don't spend it and I love that you follow that up with like, invest it, because (Stef: Yeah) it's not about not buying the lattes, ladies. It's like, it's like, you know, using that money to go work for you. (Stef: Yeah) It's very different than just like holding on to it and not doing anything with it.Stef Caldwell Yeah. So I mean, there's, there's stats out there and I might butcher these a little bit, but we'll give you guys the essence. So right now, let's say you got $100 in a bank account inflation's at like 9% so that means you know you're from today. If that $100 is worth $90, you can put that in the markets and the markets, you know, don't don't you know, generate these returns always. But let's say that you generate it that same 9%. Now you have $109, or, you know, whatever the math on (Lesley: Yeah) that is. It's really important to be thinking about, like, by keeping this just as cash in the bank. Am I gaining money or am I losing money? And if you lose money every single year, for a lifetime, you're gonna wake up in a much different spot than if you gain money every single year for a lifetime.Lesley Logan Yeah, yeah. So I want to go back to what you were saying earlier, and there was a couple things you talked about there was investing. There's also your book ManifestHer. (Stef: Yeah) So um, and then there's a 208 years we're trying to collapse. There's a lot of things that you're doing and which I'm really obs... I'm obsessed with. When it comes to when it came to like writing your book and helping women manifest. What was the difference between like, just manifestation? Maybe this is in your book and like act... like the action towards getting the thing that you're manifesting? Is there steps for that? What do you normally do for that?Stef Caldwell Yeah. When I was graduating from undergrad, I remember waking up and for my entire life, I've been an athlete and being absolutely terrified about life after college, because all of my identity was tied up in like, the environment that is like the academic world. And this is so random, but my then boyfriend now husband bought me a purple Zippy from Lululemon. And I was like, "What is this Lululemon company?" Right. Like, at the time, I'd only wore Nike. And anyway, I went to their website, and I found this goal setting program manifestation program that they had at the time. And what they recommend you do in this program is a few things. First, is take stock of your life as it was 10 years ago, and show yourself, remind yourself how much growth you've experienced over the course of a decade. And it's actually mind blowing when you do that exercise. And then the second is to project out your life 10 years and envision yourself in the environment that you most desire to be in, if you could create everything in your life that you wanted. And again, you're reminding yourself of all the growth you've experienced in the past 10 years can really like an uninhibited you from envisioning where you could be in the next 10 years.Lesley Logan This is amazing. This is so cool. Because, you know, so many people are like, "Okay, what do I want to be in the next 10 years?" And that's like, I don't know, like, depending on the day, you might be like, I know where exactly where I'll be." (Stef: Right) And they're like, "Everything is against me, I don't trust me right now." But to actually take the data of how far you've come in the last 10 years, you probably wouldn't even have believed that you'd be where you are now 10 years ago. (Stef: Yeah) So that is really cool Stef. I am going to do this homework assignment when we're done.Stef Caldwell Well, let me let me raise you one. (Lesley: Okay.) So when they talk about the next 10 years, it can be really, really challenging to be like, this will be the job. And this will be the salary. And this will be you know where my house is like your address. But it's a lot easier when you abstract out that specifics, right. This is how I want to feel in my career, this is how I want to feel in my home, these are the types of things that I envision. And so they would recommend, and this is what I recommend in the book is that you kind of break down your life into three component parts, your personal life, so the relationships that you have, your health, you know, like literally your being and like how you're treating your body and your career, which I think you know, translates directly to financial, and then reverse engineer where you want to be when you're envisioning that 10 year you to where you need to be in five years to be on track, or you need to be in one year to be on track. And then my recommendation is like, keep pulling that back. What could you do in the next 30 days? What could you do tomorrow, and then you end up with a roadmap for everything that you need to accomplish in order to manifest that life.Lesley Logan I love that. I love that a lot. I I have done this. Well, this is how I do all my goals. Everything is a reverse reverse roadmap, something because I used to take a maze and like start at the end and like work my way backwards. I just my dad says is cheating. (Stef: Which is so smart. I love that.) Thank you. And he's like, you're, they're cheating. I'm like, why wouldn't you be ...Stef Caldwell Right. You're like "No dad. I'm just a manifester. Okay"?Lesley Logan I know it is preparing me for this. But it is true when you do it like that. It does feel like more tangible. And you can actually you can't, what it does make you do as you can't go, I don't know how to do that. I'm like, I've get to be stuck, you actually do know the next action step you can take and so it helps you like kind of get that ball rolling and get out of your own way. Sometimes, you know, because I think we can be the first person in our own way before other obstacles show up.Stef Caldwell Yeah. And I think oftentimes, like the first step is a conversation. Or it's like a Google search, right? It's the most simple things.Lesley Logan Yeah, yeah. Thank you for ... because it is it shouldn't be that simple. If your first step is not as simple as a Google search or conversation, you can break it down. Another a little bit, everyone. (Stef: Exactly.) Okay. you mentioned women, their you said 'worth' and making sure that like, if they're working for themselves, or they're working for someone like is their worth reflected in what, they're what they're getting back. I feel like, at least in the communities that I'm running, a lot of women can have a day where they feel like they are definitely worthy. And then they feel guilty of the work that they're demanding of that they make. Right? How do we, I feel like that is a big step that we need to figure out if we want to collapse the 208 year situation that we're in, because if like, when I coach, the male teachers, I coach, they have no problems. Like, I'm like, oh, yeah, that they want to make this much no problem. And they go ask, like, they don't actually ever feel guilty about that. And other people, like when I coach women, they're like, I know about, like, one of my clients gonna say, like, if I can't like that, like, I don't know why we're so concerned. Am I making sense? So like, what is it that you found and what can we do as women to kind of get the guilt and the worth to not be competing against each other?Stef Caldwell Yeah, I think it's, I mean, it's challenging, it's really challenging to step into the version of you that can demand that, because there's a lot of emotion and complexity tied up with money. So oftentimes, when I feel like emotionally tied to a situation, I try to be more objective, literally take a step back and look at the skills that you have, and how much the market pays for those skills, and how good you are at those skills. And that will show you that you're either on the bottom side of that market, or the top side of the market. And my guess is, if you're listening to this podcast, you really give a crap, you're probably doing a ton of self work, you create tremendous value for the people that you work with the organizations that you work in. And the the work that you do reflects that. And so, why why conflate how you feel about accepting money with the objective reality of your worth being being more and, and then try to expand your container to be able to receive that. And now that's, that's kind of it. I don't know how useful that is for somebody, but that's what's worked for me.Lesley Logan Yeah, I think like when you said, expand your container, it's almost like I had to like, I'm a visual person. So I like this close, like, think about like closing your eyes and like, like allowing yourself to be big enough to have to receive all of that. And I (Stef: Yeah) think sometimes we are so used to playing small, we've made our container so small that it gets filled up really quick before we've reached our worth.Stef Caldwell Yeah, yeah. James Clear, wrote a great book, Atomic Habits. And there's something that he says in the book that has really stuck with me, and that I constantly find myself going back to, and it's, I'm the type of person who, and then fill in the blank at the end of that. And I think it's like, I'm the type of person who makes half a million dollars a year or a million dollars a year, or $10 million per year. And then like, again, like envisioning and stepping into, like, who would I have to be to actually be able to receive $10 million a year? Like, what, like, I'd probably have to be a different person. Like, that's not my income level. Um, but again, like just going through those mental exercises, like who would I have to become to be able to receive in that capacity can really help you figure out like, where you need to do the work to be able to receive in that capacity?Lesley Logan Yeah, that couldn't be more be it till you see it if I you know, if I told you to say that. (Lesley and Stef laughs) But you know, what if so, I was talking to one of my friends who owns a business in town, and I was going to teach a workshop for her. And I just said to her, "I love you, I, I'm saying no, right now. And it's not you. It's just I need some more time to be with myself." And I said, and I ran into her person, I said, "Thank you for understanding most people be like, oh, when can you do it?" And she just was like, "No problem." That's so amazing. And she said, "Lesley, she's like, I am working on something right now. And so you saying that this gave me more time to work on that thing." But what it was, and this is where I'm gonna get your point is writing down like the person you want to be or the thing you want to have, and then making sure that the next thing that you write down or the next thing you think, isn't conflicting with that, so who like I'm the type of person makes half million dollars. The next thing is, like, you said, like, what would I have to do to to be someone who can make a half million dollars to someone who makes a half million dollars? And she says, oftentimes, we write down like, but I don't have that and I have a job that only pays me $115,000. You know, like, we start to like, we erode the manifest that we erode the vision and really what it's mostly is like, okay, if I may make a half million dollars, what is the person what makes a half million dollars do in the morning? Where does a person who makes half a million dollars go to work? Where do they work, right, like, (Stef: Yeah) that kind of thing. And so I I have been working on that, because I stopped doing one of my morning routines of journaling, because I was busy. I convinced myself, we're so good at this, even those of us who have like a really strong morning routine can convince ourselves like, I need that extra 15 minutes. And I remember I was at the bank yesterday. And as it was a little frustrating thing to do at the bank. And I was like, you know, people who don't have problems at the bank, probably also make time for journaling. And they don't feel guilty about it. And they don't like all these things, like as I made up my own version of it, but like, it's, we keep waiting until we have the thing to be the person want to be as opposed to like, who is that person and what are they have to do? And how do we add that in right now. And maybe you only are making $115,000. But if you start taking the steps that a half million dollar person is doing, you can have that life sooner. (Stef: Yeah, yeah.) You can have that million dollar life and working your way towards making it.Stef Caldwell Yeah, and I think two things to that. First is our de facto response to anything that feels uncomfortable is I can't and I would just encourage your listener every time like that thought comes up in your head like override doop, doop, doop, how can I? Right. And then 'how can I' is just more expansive question ask yourself. The second thing is know that there has been plenty of research executed that would indicate to you that just by having that goal of hitting that, you know, half million dollar per year mark or million dollar per year mark, or whatever it is for you. You are, I think it's like 10 times more likely to achieve it just by having that written. So there was like a Harvard Harvard research study done in the 80s. Look this up, it'll blow your frickin mind. But basically, like 3% of people graduating Harvard that year had both written goals, as well as plans for achieving them. And when they were revisited years later, they were making 10x those of their peers that have either, you know, written goals or no goals at all.Lesley Logan That is incredible. That, first of all, I love that. It's also so believable. I mean, maybe the listeners remember this story, but maybe not remind you. When Brad and I decided to move to Las Vegas. First, it was December 2019. We're like, "Hey, maybe we should maybe we should actually think about moving to Las Vegas." And Brad said like, "Yeah, like in 2022, or 2023." This is 2019, right? Because we had so many plans for 2020. And we had to like kind of change the life if you're gonna want to move and buy a house like we were living in California without the goal of buying a house. So, you have to make a lot of life decisions that are different everyone, when you're ready to buy a house, and you were living in California before. So fast forward March 2020, our entire count calendars, cancelled everything. Like I'm just like, literally refunding retreats and workshops and all this stuff. And I had a client who said, she worked at Google and she said, "We're going to be home until June of 2021," is what they said. This isn't April of 2020. And I was like, "If Google's going to be at home remote, every tech company is going to a remote and space is going to become a commodity." And so I told Brad, we need to move to Vegas now. And he's like, "Okay, well maybe like this, like later this year." And I'm like, "Nope, June 1st. We're moving June 1st." And so we did this whole thing we wrote down like how many rooms will the house have? How like how much will can we spent? Like, what how much we want to have a square footage, what does it have? We are very specific. And then we put that away, we started doing some stuff did a couple work things. And sure enough, when we found this house, it was all the things we wrote down. It was a better price point than we thought and we moved on June 1. Like it was all these things and so havin not written down having like, "Oh, we're gonna do that whatever." We're not like actually gotten specific about it. I don't I can tell you right now it probably wouldn't be here because I wouldn't have known what I was looking for. I wouldn't know I found it.Stef Caldwell Yeah, yeah. There's so there's so many things and that one is I have to reference a woman's work who I just adore Dr. Tara Suat Swart. She is like a neural manifestation guru. So she talks about like the brain science behind manifesting and then the second thing so go and read her book The Source (The Source? Yeah, The Source.) So go and read that if you like this conversation. Second thing is the universe loves clarity, the universe does not love wishy washy. Same exact thing happened to me and my husband. It was last Christmas, (unfortunately we didn't get the house which I'm still grieving) but we started asking ourselves if we left the city because we were city people. Then like what would the dream house look like for us? Number of rooms, walkout basement on a lake with a boats with all these things? Can I swear on this? (Lesley: You can totally. Yeah.) I shit you not I get on Zillow the very next day and I'm like, "Oh my God, this is the house in our price range." You know what all these elements it's like, by having that clarity you can attract and find that thing because you're aware that that's what you're looking for.Lesley Logan 100%. So you let I'm gonna put I put the source down because I got a I got a credit on my book thing to read. But I am rereading in paperback Pam, I think her name is Grout, Pam Grout's book E-Squared. And she also did some science behind things and everyone who's like, "Oh my God, these two girls are talking about manifesting and getting clar..." Do that, if you are a doubter. This is the book for you because she (Stef: Yeah) has nine experiments. All, seven of them only take 48 hours to do or less. And it's you have to be specific, but you are she literally has you test the universe to prove that it exists and that it brings you things. And I did this book, gosh, in 2013 20... No 2014, I did this book and I wanted to experiment I wrote Brad's name down and we were not dating and he was not calling me and nor was he texting me, but I wrote his name down as someone who's going to call me. And the rule was it had to be someone who knew your information, but you would not say, "Oh, call me later," like, couldn't be like, we hadn't talked in like three months. So I wrote his name down and within 48 hours, he had texted me and like the rest (Stef: Wow!) is history. So (Stef: Wow!) so like, I, I've been feeling a little bit like, I've been feeling a little unspecific and things and I'm just like, "I, want?" Like, insert generic goal here. And so I'm like," You know what, we have to get back on that book, we have to get back on the specific bandwagon." So so everyone two manifesting books with science behind it. (Stef: Yes) I feel like there's a better house for you, there was a thing, but but as a city person, you have to be specific if you're gonna leave.Stef Caldwell Yeah. I know. (Stef and Lesley laughs) I'm been checking out Zillow every day. So ...Lesley Logan My advice, because that was a really weird to leave the city of LA like, like in UCLA to like, Vegas, and I were we are by the Strip. So I'm like, "Oh, look, city skyline." (Stef: Yeah, yeah.) Okay, so back to women and building wealth, (Stef: Yeah) and feeling worthy. What, what do you say to the woman who, who may be like, oh, it will just use me as example because I know, we have a lot of listeners like this. I wasn't raised with money. I was raised with parents who like, well, one parent who would spend the money, lose the game. And I kind of felt like it's because I didn't feel worthy. And that's why the like getting rid of the money. (Stef: Yeah.) You know, sorry, Mom, if you're listening. But just an observation. And then you know, so no money is always gone. The answer to everything was no, we don't have any money. And then to fast forward, where I make way more money than I ever saw an adult member of my family make. What do you say to that person as they are trying to even build more wealth or feel more worthy of things like when around them, they never had that as a model? Is there, is there a mantra, is there something they could think of? Like, what is it because that is also stopping us from bridging that gap.Stef Caldwell Yeah, I think the first thing is, in any area of your life, when you start doing work, results come, right. And we have been trained in how to have relationships with the people that we work with, in our careers, we have been not trained in how to have a relationship with our money. And so there's tons of money experts out there, there's a woman that I really adore, whose work has really impacted my life, Jocelyn Kelly Reid, who teaches us to look at money, like a resource, just as air is a resource that is abundant that we breathe, and we don't think about, imagine money being the same, it can come into your life, it can exit your life, it's literally just kind of this ebb and flow of how you exist. And for me, you know, similar situation like middle middle class, you know, but but my parents didn't have tons of acculan... affilance, affluence.Lesley Logan It's okay, Sunday's bring on the worst words.Stef Caldwell Right, right. And so, um, you know, even just like getting around, getting centered around things like debt, right? Like, I think debt can like be this major shame spiral, especially for women, because we've been told it's bad. But in reality, like debt is just a means to afford a future that we may need to step into more soon than we're ready. My husband, I bought a home, you know, a number of years ago that we invested into as an Airbnb property. And I took on debt to make that investment. But that investment has paid back tenfold, maybe 30 fold at this point. And so while I had shame around the debt at the time, now I look at it and I'm like, "It was the best decision I ever made." And it accelerated the future that we're now living in. And so again, you know, there were you put forth effort results follow, I would encourage anybody listening to this, if you have money, shame issues, if you have a belief system that makes you feel like you're not worthy of accomplishing the financial success that is available to you, if you just simply want it, go and put in the work there.Lesley Logan Yeah, that is, I like that. I also I like the way you put that together, because it is where you put the effort, it does expand and (Stef: Yeah) you know, so and if that's where you need it, and, and thank you for bringing up the debt thing, because I do think there's a lot of shame around that kind of stuff. And one thing you'll that you don't know is like pretty much everyone has it. (Stef: Yeah) So you're not the only one. (Stef: Right, right.) And also something that I remember, because I would say this to my clients who like didn't like the number on the scale and I'm like, "Well, you're not walking around with your scale number on your shirt like no one actually knows what you weigh." (Stef: Yeah) The same really is for your bank account and you walk around thinking that everyone around you who looks like they have money has more than you, you don't know, they might have tons of debt that goes along (Stef: Right) with the money that they have. And so I think like, I remember, I heard a speaker, and oh my gosh, her name is escaping me. And y'all if I remember, I'll put in the shownotes, or we'll talk about in the recap, but she was very clear, like one, the energy of what you spend the money on your bills matters. So like when you like to have a lot of positivity around paying the taxes and paying the bills, and the word you use and then two like, credit is a good thing. (Stef: Yeah) Like having having that ability to use that to expand the business that you're growing or the the work that you're doing. It's very different than just like going to Target. (Lesley laughs) Again, there's a difference. So I really, really enjoyed that. Okay. So Stef, like with if somebody is wanting to start today to have more of an idea around welcoming wealth and I mean, obviously, we have your manifestation tips, and we can and wanting to get into the investment world, what what other things need to think about when it comes to building wealth? Is there like an obstacle or something we may not have discussed yet that could be like, hindering women from actually making the wealth they want to make?Stef Caldwell Yeah. So there's a book that I read a couple of years ago, that just the title alone is Epic. It's F word being humble. So being humble. (Stef and Lesley laughs) And I remember, I remember reading it and being like, "Who would I be, if I was the boss's version of me that had no humility whatsoever?" Right. Like, take all the humility that has been like entrained in you from being a woman and playing small and all these things that society kind of like forces on us. And just strip that away for a second. Don't gotta do it for a long time. Maybe just go get in the shower, and be the boss's version of yourself and talk about your accolades, and your accomplishments, and how far you've grown, and how incredible you are. And what a great you know partner you are and the people in your community, like literally go to the most expanded, pompous, like proud version of you. And just let that out. And now the next time you're going into any money related conversation, whether it's raising your rates, working with clients, whether it's raising your rates, you know, going into the next career opportunity, if it's right for you. I want you to remember, every single thing that you stated when you were being the least humble version of you, because that's who you really are. And like when you accept that, you'll realize that in many ways, like you are underpaid or undervalued or undervaluing yourself even. And so, yes, so much of how we are able to receive is based on like, what we are available for, and so just go increase your level of availability, and then you know, money will flow to you.Lesley Logan Oh, I really love that. I really love that. And I I was thinking as you're saying that, like no one has ever like said, "You know what, go see so and so they're the most humble, aka cheapest place in town." Like no one's saying that. (Lesley and Stef laughs)Stef Caldwell Yeah. Like, I imagined, like, going to, like work with, you know, fitness provider. And they're like, "You know, I'm like, actually not very good at helping you accomplished your goals. Like, I'm mediocre at best." Like, "No way." Are you gonna, like I want to go to the person to be like, "You're gonna leave your with a six pack, a totally new diet, and be absolutely ripped, just like you want." Like, that's who I'm gonna hire. (Lesley: Yeah) So be their version of you ...Lesley Logan Well, isn't it isn't it Tony Robbins is like the most certain person that wins. They win all the time. (Stef: Yeah) Like I'm most certain person wins. And I also think like, if you'd follow that up with like, "I'm going to do all this super, super confident. How much do you charge? Oh it's $50?" (Stef: Right) Like, with a question mark. They're be like, "Ah, wait, what? I was about to pay. That sounds like a $200 an hour thing. And now it's like, I'm gonna wonder what's wrong with it, it doesn't match. (Stef: Yeah) Like your most bosses, like badassary, doesn't matter the price you just told me?"Stef Caldwell Yeah, when people pay, they pay attention. And you're the price that you you request is more about the transformation that you provide your customer than it is about what you're able to receive. So like think about this, when you pay $50 for a service, you show up and you treat that $50 service those same way you treat a $50 service. We pay $5,000 for a service, you show up is a very different person. $20,000 $100,000 Right? Like know that your customers will get more value out of you when you you know demand a price point that forces them to show up as the best versions of themselves.Lesley Logan Yeah, yeah. And you also will like them more. You won't resent them for... (Stef: Yeah) Like because you know when we resent something's because we broke around with ourselves and if you're under charging, of course you're gonna resent that yourself or you're gonna be mad at you because you're, they're blowing off the thing that you think that they should be valuing but you didn't charge them enough for them to value it? And then you're pissed because you're also not making enough to do the thing, but they're not valuing.Stef Caldwell Yeah, yeah. And there's so much to unpack in our feelings around money too. Like, what revenue do you bring into your business that like, feels like hell yeah, revenue. And what revenue do you bring in that you're like, "Oh, I do not even like this." Then find ways to get more hell yeah revenue and less revenue, and ultimately, you'll grow over time.Lesley Logan Okay, well, that that is I can't, Brad's gonna love this. But I already know Brad's gonna love that because that is that is also the one of the most simple ways like I think some people can complicate it like, "Oh, this is the thing that I make the most money on, or this is the thing I sell the most." But it's like actually ask yourself like, which one is like hell yeah money, and which ones like uh money. And then how do you make more hell yeah money. (Stef: Yeah) And what do you have to change in your business or in your day or in your schedule or your life? Like that's oh, yes. Oh, I love. (Stef: Yeah) Okay. Well, Stef, I mean, I feel like it can keep talking to you forever. But we're gonna take a brief pause. And and after that, we'll find out where people can just hear more of your words.Alright, Stef, where are you hanging out? Where are you giving this amazing advice? Don't and you have a podcast coming out? Yeah.Stef Caldwell I do. I do. So because you've been listening, you know that my whole thing is how do we compress time? How can we help women have more wealth more quickly? There is an emerging economy and emerging industry that I'm really excited about. You may have heard the words Web3, you may have heard the words, Crypto. I'm really passionate about this space, as it's opening doors to new wealth creation for women and not enough women are leaning in. So where people can hang out with me. On September 7, my new podcast Allowlist is launching along with my co host shout out Lauren Tierney, you're amazing. It is a podcast focused all around Web3 and Crypto. I know you might be listening, and you're be like, "Oh, this is so weird. This took a left turn." Trust me. This is an incredible industry. And I would love to have you guys come and listen to that podcast.Lesley Logan Well, I think it could sound a left turn because when people hear Crypto. They think, "Oh, God, that's just like, I don't even understand stock markets. And I have to understand like that." And then also everything that they've heard about Crypto. But can you like in layman's terms describe what Web3 is? Because I think that that's a word that they've heard less.Stef Caldwell Yes. So if you think about the internet, something we all know and love. In the early 90s, the only thing you could do on the internet was read stuff. That's Web1. If you think about your experience with the internet, right now, you can both read things on the internet, as well as interact with people on the internet. So it's read and write. Web3 is a new iteration of the internet that allows you to read, write and own your experiences in your digital life. If you think about things that we've talked about on this podcast, envisioning where this world is 10 years from today, my guess is that we're spending even more time and digital lives than we have been historically. And Web3 really enables the ownership of our digital lives as opposed to being owned by the public utilities that are available to us. I ...Lesley Logan Are we talking about the metaverse? Are we talking about like living in a like a like a an like a what does that virtual reality is that what we're talking about?Stef Caldwell Metaverse is one component of Web3, but certainly not the whole story.Lesley Logan Thank God, thank God, there's another part of the story because I was like, I just not, I don't want to be part of that world as much. I'm already there. They already have three apps for me. (Lesley and Stef laughs) I thought you know what, first of all, like, I hope you all download it and go and listen, and at least at least listened to all their launch episodes. Because here's the deal, women historically, we've not been able to be part of the first steps of any creation, like this, even in the 90s. Like how many women were in tech companies, right. And now you are part of tech companies. You can tell people how few women are there. And this is like an opportunity for all of us to actually be part of it, be part of what's being curated. And we already know when women are at the top we do way better decisions. (Lesley laughs) (Stef: Which is completely true.) So there's science everyone. But I like I think that this is this is not something we should avoid because this is though an awesome opportunity. We could be part of it at the beginning and we should be. So I'm excited that y'all are doing it. I can't wait to tune in and actually learn about something I know this much about. And Brad is like, "Lesley you know," he he talks about it all the time but like I think I've been like you know, blinders on blah, blah, blah, but we can't do that anymore. We need to be part of it if we want to make the changes and we want to also be in charge of the experience we get to have which we all should want to do that. So thank you for sharing that podcast. It's Allowlist?Stef Caldwell Yeah, allowlist.vip is the website and @allowlist.vip is the Instagram, Twitter, TikTok you know all the places.Lesley Logan Wonderful. Okay, so we asked everyone and you've given so many great action steps already. So, I totally understand if you're highlighting the best ones, but Be It Till You It action items. Bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted steps women can do to be until they see it.Stef Caldwell Yeah, I was really excited about this question when I was preparing. So I wrote down four principles that guide my life. And these are quotes from other people that I've picked up and other personal development books along the way. The first is, there's a statute of limitations on all childhood traumas, I think in many ways we let trauma, hold us back, work, do the work, and then choose to hop, skip, jump past it. I think that that's just a choice we all make. I have my own trauma, you can hear about that on plenty of other podcasts. But that's a guiding principle for me. The second is that you have to say 'no' to what you want to do, in order to do what you really want to do. I think the power of 'no' is so undervalued. But the more you start saying 'no' to the things that you want to do, the more you can start saying 'hell yes' to the things that you really want to do. And sometimes it's harder, but it's better. (Lesley: I love that.) The third is you can have your excuses. You can have success, but you can't have both. So make a decision. Who do you want to be? And then the fourth is ask yourself every single day. Are you willing? Are you willing to be that person that person that takes action, the person that has the hard conversations with themselves and with others, the person that can step into the life that you most desire. And so that's it.Lesley Logan Oh my gosh, saving all those, saving and putting, I'm like gonna put them where I can read them from my desk. I'm one of those people who needs a little reminders all the time.Stef Caldwell And I will say this I have to give you the names of the people that said those ... (Lesley: Okay) because those are not my original words and I don't want anybody to think that they are. (Lesley and Stef laughs)Lesley Logan Let's give the credit and where are they from?Stef Caldwell Yeah. Statute of limitations is Alex Banayan, Third Door. Saying no to what you want for what you really want, Amber Amber Rae, Choose Wonder Over Worry. You can have your excuses, but you can have or success. That's Jen Sincero. And then are you willing is Gary John Bishop.Lesley Logan Okay, The Third Door book everyone that's an put that one on your list. That is a phenomenal book. That is such a good book. And it is, I think I can look back at my life and see that every success I've had is from the third door. (Stef: Yeah) Like it's never, it's never been the first door. It's always been this third door. And whenever I try to go the first or second I'm always rejected. I'm always like, "Oh."Stef Caldwell You're like, "These stupid doors."Lesley Logan Oh my God, these are, okay, I could have you on forever. You are amazing. You have such great advice. Thank you for being so willing to share it and and also, I hope to have you back. So if you all loved her, and you love what she said. Like, "Hey, cool. I'm all about life coaching. What's the somatic part mean? Can you explain that?" And they dug in pretty deep. So yeah.Lesley Logan Yeah, I know. Well, it's because I have a somatic therapist, and I didn't really understand what that title was. And she would do her therapy. And it had somatic stuff, but like, I didn't really I just was like, "Oh, we're in the woowoo world. We're just doing this." But it's actually not. It's not woowoo would all it's like totally legit science. You should totally... So go listen to it. But I love Lauren, and ...Brad Crowell She, she's powerful.Lesley Logan She's powerful. (Brad: Yeah.) She's super cool. And at the time that we're recording this, I'm on the eve of hanging out with her for the weekend here in Vegas. (Brad: Yeah.) So talk about, do you mind, I just say I want to say this, because it's nothing to do with anything. But if you're trying to make friends, like, do the things that just that people do want to like, share and experience together. She is coming here with a couple other women. Because I was like, "We should all hang out. I live in Las Vegas. It's a great place to come visit."Brad Crowell Wait, really? (Lesley: Yeah. That was I said.) They came because you, you just invited them to come. (Lesley: Yeah.) That's so cool.Lesley Logan I know. I said we should, well, I will, I won't take all the credit. They know a mutual friend, they know Tori Gordon, who is a coach because who was a coach, and she was on our podcast earlier. (Brad: Yeah.) And they're like, "Oh, yeah, Tori was talking about how we should all come to Vegas." I said, "Well, now you've two reasons to come because Tori and I live in the same neighborhood. (Brad: Great.) And you should come." And boom, set some dates. And now they're coming.Brad Crowell That's really cool. I didn't know that. That's fun.Lesley Logan Take action ... I'm so excited. By the time you've heard this, I've already hang out. We've already had our women's weekend and it's going to be amazing. I'll be talking about it on another episode. Anyways. We are also one month away from the time that you're listening to this. From the PP retreat. The Profitablie Pilates business retreat here in Las Vegas. (Brad: Yeah.) So if you are wanting to hang out in a very intimate, not in like a sexual way, but just like small, that's what I mean it by a small group, private event.Brad Crowell I don't think anybody took it as sexual but but that's fair to clarify.Yeah, it's it's a, it's an intimate setting, that's a fair way to describe it. It's, it's actually a lot of fun and very transformative when it comes to digging into the customer journey that you may or may not be presenting to your customers. If you run a fitness business, or any kind of service based business, really, the principles do apply, and that we'll be recovering that weekend. And our first one that we ran earlier this year was amazing. It was so amazing. So we're really excited to be hosting a second one this year. (Lesley: It will be amazing.) It's going to be amazing. (Lesley: I'm just gonna put amazing in there one more time.) Also, amazingly, I'm not sure that we haven't set a date yet for next year. So it's not 100% that we're going to do it for next year. So if you're thinking I'll just do the next one. Just talk to us now because (Lesley: Yeah.) because it may not actually be one we want you know like we've got a lot going on next year like a lot.Lesley Logan A lot. And I'll say I just want to say like putting off the growth of your business for next time. Can we just like talk about like ...Brad Crowell Why wait nine more months to get started?Lesley Logan The people who are at our first retreat, several of them made their retreat investment back within a couple of months. Of just using our project management training, of using our launch training of all this stuff. (Brad: Yeah.) They are now working on things this right now, as second rounds of things that will have (Brad: Yeah.) even better outcomes. If they had not come if they waited till next time they would not they would literally be where they were way before March making what they, making what they made before March in a time when you make more money. So I'm just saying don't wait till next time and Brad is right. We have not set dates and it's pretty unclear whether or not we will have another one in the 2023 dates we ...Brad Crowell Look, we're hoping that we can do but (Lesley: We love it.) but but actually I also love going to Cambodia. So, yeah.Lesley Logan We love going to Cambodia but we also love vacation.Brad Crowell Yeah, there's that. I would like to take ... (Lesley: Yeah, so anyway ...) and idea. (Lesley: That's one month away. So ...) That's happening. Yeah, in the month. And then but what's happening is before then.Lesley Logan Oh, Agency Mini. (Brad: Yeah.) Two, so it's like about two ish weeks away. It starts on the 18th. And ... (Brad: How it was a different than the retreat?) Okay, so Agency Mini, first of all, fold is very different. The retreat is at our house in person curated, very small group, very small group. (Brad: Yeah.) Agency Mini is not to say that it's a big group, but it is a bigger group. And ... (Brad: Yeah, it's a couple hundred people.) It's also online. We do one workshop, and we do one Q&A session, and then we answer your questions throughout the week. Whereas at the retreat, when you're on our house, we have several workshops, several times where you guys are in coaching settings. It's a very curated experience around what you're gonna be learning. Whereas inside of Agency Mini, we have a very curated webinar and homework for you. But then the rest of the week, you can really ask us anything, we'll be really honest with you.Brad Crowell But bigger, bigger picture, though. The retreat, we're going to dig into, like I said, your customers journey (Lesley: Yeah.) and what you're putting in front of them, when to graduate them from your first product, your second product, your third product, whether that's digitally on your website, you know, or whether that is, you know, in your brick and mortar store. (Lesley:Yeah.) Where Agency Mini is a, it's a seven day taster of our ongoing coaching services, where you can we are going to dig into, we're going to help you clarify, you know exactly what it is that you offer your clients, how to connect to those clients, who those clients actually are. Right. And and then we're going to open it up for questions about anything throughout the week. So you know, and that's going to be virtual.Lesley Logan Yeah. So profitabliepilates.com/retreat is retreat and profitable, profitablepilates.com/mini is for Agency Mini. (Brad: Yeah.) So you should sign up for that. (Brad: Yeah. Join us.) Also, by the way, if you join Agency for Mini, you get a lots of goodies. So just saying (Brad: True.) you've been thinking, "Oh, I want to coach with them," and you sign up for that. This is the time. So anyways, I'm so excited. September is, September, October are like going to be so ... (Brad: They're very so fun.) We're going to be like we're going to be in several states ... (Brad: It's gonna be a whirlwind.) It's a whirlwind.Brad Crowell Yeah, it's gonna be crazy.Lesley Logan Gotta get my sleep on. Anyways, we have an audience question.Brad Crowell We do. You've answered this before, but it's been a long time. I just inserted that. What are some books that you recommend? Do you have any new ones?Lesley Logan Yeah, so I don't recall which recap we answered this question. But I would say it's probably 100 episodes ago.Brad Crowell I was gonna say, I think it's been like a long time.Lesley Logan Yeah. So of course, I have been reading a lot. And by reading I mean listening. But I actually am reading a couple books like physical books. Currently, as we're doing this. So here's my new top books that I've been talking about a lot. And I've read it. There's they're not in, like, inclusive of all the books that I've read, but like what I think listeners of this show would really love. We Should All Be Millionaires, Rachel Rogers. Rachel Rogers, if you're listening this episode. Hi. Big fan over here. Want to be on the show? If you know Rachel, please do the intro. I'm just putting out there. I'm asking for it. I want I want Rachel Rogers on the show. That book is amazing. It's so good. I and Brad, love reading it.Brad Crowell Yeah, we're I'm like, I don't know, third of the way through it right now. Halfway, I'm not sure.Lesley Logan Yeah, it's so good. Chatter. I believe it is by Ethan Kross. I think that's who it's by. Yes. And I have DMed him, he has not responded to me. So I am not, (Brad: Ethan Kross.) I'm not rejected yet. And I will not take no for an answer from that man because he is amazing. That book is so it's so awesome at identifying why you're talking to yourself and the thoughts you say. And then also how to like snap yourself out of it, which I just frickin love. You know, I love action. So, Action Steps so that's a great book and then Rejection Proof. Oh my gosh, he did reject me for right now. Not permanently, he said to come back to him later. He's just not doing podcasts right now. That's okay. Jia Jiang, I got you. My peeps are gonna find you. We're gonna get you on the show. Anyways, Rejection Proof is so good. If you're afraid of being rejected. Brad has a course about being rejected (Brad: I do.) on our Profitable Pilates website.Brad Crowell Yeah. We'll put the link to that in the show notes. (Lesley: Yeah.) It's called How to be rejected to success with 200 noes.Lesley Logan Yeah, so and then this book was just like so so good. I'm really into it and then I've talked about it before actually talked about it with Coach Lee a couple weeks ago on that episode, but I started doing E-Squared again, and it's Pam Grout. Hi, Pam. Hi, hey girl hey. (Brad: Hey girl hey.) I tagg you on a post or three. Not a stalker, but just same (Brad: Big fan.) big fan, big fan over here. Anyways, um, I had I read Pam Grout's book, eight years ago, seven years ago, and I actually did one of the experience I put Brad's name now. And then he called me. (Brad: I did.) And then the other woman's name down, I just put the two together. She's the woman from the other company that's been hitting us up. (Brad: Oh, that's crazy.) How crazy is that? But she did also call me while we ran into each other. Anyways, you'll hear that on on Coach Lee's episode. But the point is, I've been doing all the experiments and I did the experiment one. I started on a specific date at 11am. And then I decided to meditate on like receiving abundance. And at 11:03 during the middle of my meditation, the experiment came through. Oh! So you all have to do E-Squared. Okay, those are the books. Do you have anything add to that?Brad Crowell Those are, those are great. No, I've been reading political books, and also some novels. (Lesley: Yeah.) So yeah, less if you if you if you are looking to find a new world to experience that has nothing to do with reality. There's a lovely, incredible, 20 something books here series (Lesley: Oh, are you doing YA?) No.Lesley Logan No, young adult, you're listening to a young adult?Brad Crowell I don't know what that is. (Lesley: Oh.) So no, it's his name is Michael J. Sullivan. And he is a he's like a, he created his own fantasy world where he's got different, different times of the timeline. So like, you know, he started off, (Lesley: Oh) he started off with a thief and a soldier and the two of them get paired together and have to go to that. And he wrote, like, I don't know, 12 books around this. They're still out ...Lesley Logan So not necessarily like a book for 20 somethings. It's just a 20 year long.Brad Crowell No, no. He's written 20 novels. (Lesley: Yeah. Okay.) No, (Lesley: Sorry.) 20 books.Lesley Logan 20 books. So not YA at all?Brad Crowell I don't know what YA is? So, no.Lesley Logan YA is a ti... is like a section of books. It's called Young Adult. It's like your twilight ...Brad Crowell Oh, yeah. I never I never got out of that. Yeah. (Lesley: Yeah.) No, it's a ...Lesley Logan Like not goosebumps. But you know, something like that. Like ...Brad Crowell I mean, sure, these are these are applicable for all ages, actually. The but but then, in that, in that timeline, he was referencing, you know, the history 3000 years ago. And then the next set of six books he wrote was from 3000 years ago. (Lesley: Oh, my God.) And then now the new books he's writing are in the middle, between these two timelines on a ... (Lesley: I can't handle it.) It's amazing, actually. And you fall in love with the characters and yeah, I mean, he is, he's mind blowingly good at what he does. It is incredible. The books are just fantastic. So (Lesley: Okay.) yeah.Lesley Logan Let's talk about Lauren. (Brad and Lesley laughs)Brad Crowell We don't go to the same movies, y'all. Just saying.Lesley Logan We don't. We also don't go to bed the same time or wake up at the same time. We are an anomaly. If you are like, "I want to be married like Brad and Lesley." I'm just gonna go out right now you have to be very secured ...Brad Crowell We have so much in common when it comes to being entrepreneurs.Lesley Logan Yeah. And we ... like, like the things that we love to do for fun. Our so opposite. (Brad: Yeah) We just do them on our own.Brad Crowell So, Lesley's got a green thumb. No, she doesn't.Lesley Logan No, no. She doesn't. (Brad: I'm teasing.) But my Mammillaria by not touching it whatsoever is doing great. (Brad: Yeah, yeah.) My plant in the window. It's not doing so good. I don't know what to do about it. Anyway. Hi, let's talk about Lauren.Brad Crowell Let's talk about Lauren Zoeller.Lesley Logan All I can say is Lauren ... as like our guests listening to these recaps ...Brad Crowell I know. They're probably, "What the hell?" (Lesley: When did they talk about me though?) Okay, cool. So, Lauren, helping women and men find conscious partnerships. Lauren Zoeller is a Somatic Relationship Expert, aka Dating Coach who overcame her own patterns of shame to now lead women into aligned lives. Lauren is more than a matchmaker. She's here to guide individuals to keep the relationships they find, and in the process, discover a deeper love for themselves.Lesley Logan So aka better than a dating coach. (Brad: Yeah. Better than a dating coach.) Just to like, help my new friend out. She's more than a dating coach.Brad Crowell Well, yeah, well, I think I think that, again, if you go back and listen to her definition of somatic, it will help you understand how different she is from you know, just, you know, she's not Hitch you know, I think you you probably had the best example, I'm just going to pull it back up. You said, people who date the quote on quote, "date the same person over and over and over again, until they learn their lesson." Right? She helps you, like understand why you might be repeating things, but just in a different time and a different with the different people. (Lesley: Yeah.) But you're still repeating the same thing.Lesley Logan If you're watching us on the YouTube channel, you got the air quotes. If you didn't, Brad, his inflection should hopefully help you understand the air quotes are in there.Brad Crowell Yeah, Brad is very good.Lesley Logan It's better than Joey from Friends that air quote. I'm sorry. (Lesley and Brad laughs)Brad Crowell What was one thing that you love that Lauren said?Lesley Logan Thank you for asking. One thing I love that she said was "how you receive love as a child shapes how you expect to be loved today. Often those who had a frenetic childhood are chasing the high of chaos". And she went on a little bit like how do you give and receive love? And is it keeping you in unhealthy patterns is a question she's having (Brad: Yeah.) she's haveing you ask yourself. So take a moment. How do you give and receive love? And is it keeping you in an unhealthy patterns? So, you know, we all know The Five Love Languages and things like that. But like actually think about it like the way you're giving and receiving love. Is it actually helping you? Have loving relationships? Or is it in this chaotic, unhealthy pattern? Like these are important things. And then she also had some other examples like boredom as a driving factor and running from relationship to relationship to chase the high.Brad Crowell Well, that's good. So so what she was talking about, which I thought was really amazing because I, I don't I never I never thought this way. But she said if you had chaos in your childhood, and actually she specifically was talking about helicopter parents. And she said, if your you know, parents were in, and then out and then in and then out and there was this chaos happening. You often expect that later on in life. So if you end up in a stable, you know, relationship, it doesn't mean stable is good or bad. It just means it's the opposite of what you expected. So more often than not, you're inclined to feel like, this is boring, or this is safe. Or this is kind of ... you know, and ...Lesley Logan It's like when Carrie broke up with Aidan, everyone. She broke with Aidan because they didn't fight. And ...Brad Crowell I don't actually know any idea ...Lesley Logan Sex in the City. Everyone who's listening is knodding their head, we all know, because that was a big deal. There was a whole thing.Brad Crowell So glad I wasn't there for that one. Okay. Yeah, it's like, guys, it's like, Oh, my God. It's like when Carrie broke up (Lesley: Stop.) with Aidan (Lesley: Okay.) because they didn't fight all the time.Lesley Logan No, but it's I think people need examples sometimes ...Brad Crowell I think it's a perfect example. I just was not there with you on that one.Lesley Logan It's fine. Everyone who's listening is with me. (Brad: Yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.) They're all with me ...Brad Crowell No, it's a perfect example because, you know, and then conversely, if you had a relatively stable, you know, or quote unquote, "boring", you know, like, like childhood love from your parents, and you find yourself in a chaotic relationship. You may be like, "I can't do this," you know. And anyway, I thought that was really interesting. I never thought about that before ...Lesley Logan Yeah, yeah. And also, so first of all, Lauren has an incredible course. And she has a bunch of services. There was also the book, Getting the Love You Want, which is a very interesting book about explaining the old brain, the new brain, and like, how, when you first get a relationship, you fill all of your own holes. So ... (Brad: Harville Hendricks) Yeah. So you fill all your own holes to so people like look, "I'm this like, perfect, amazing being and there's nothing crazy wrong with me here. Don't like I'm so good. And your partner, by the way, is doing the exact same thing." And then after a few months, it's so exhausting trying to fill those holes. But you don't even realize that you're doing it on a subconscious level. So (Brad: Right.) you think that that person, the person you're with is filled the holes like they've solved the problem. So and then when both of you start filling your own holes, you're like, "You change. They change, blah, blah, blah." Actually no, you both just started to be your fucking selves. (Brad: Interesting) Yeah, and so a lot ...Brad Crowell Well she does, Lauren talks about that, at the very beginning. She talked about like, you know, being lonely and filling that loneliness with someone who you know, you shouldn't be with.Lesley Logan Yeah. Oh, totally. Who hasn't done that, (Brad: Yeah) like 17 times not personal. Just, I just know, I'm still I'm watched. But I think it's like, it's ... (Brad: Calling you in behalf of a friend.) Yeah, calling for a friend, actually. Anyways, it's a great book, if you're like, "I don't know, if I'm gonna read the book." He was on Oprah. And you can like get the Cliff's Notes version, or you can just work with Lauren. But the reality is, is like, we have to stop pretending that how we were raised is um not affecting the lives and the choices we have now. And then also we have to understand that like we are making choices. You may think things are happening to you. And this is just the people that are around you. And these are the only options but we all actually have choices and when you start to recognize that like how you are choosing to give and receive love is a choice. (Brad: Sure.) Even if you feel it's subconscious, it can actually be a conscious decision. When you make those changes, you can actually start to change the patterns of the day you have and find the person you want to have and look at Lauren, look where she's at right now.Brad Crowell Yeah. Interesting. Wow. Yeah. And what she's referencing is having moved through a very tumultuous time in her life to finding a place where she can be herself. (Lesley: Yeah.) With someone that she loves in a business that's functioning and all good things. (Lesley: Yeah.) So again, worth listening to. One thing I loved that she said, was she helped define the difference between a therapist and a life coach. (Lesley: Which I knew you would love.) Yeah, well, she is a life coach, therapist, generally speaking, has degrees in therapy, and they, you know, like help you dig into the past. Right. And so you're really breaking things down and trying to uncover, you know, where you came from. Whereas a life coach is helping you plan and look at your future. And I thought that was such a clear distinction, such an easy way to understand the difference between the two ...Lesley Logan I knew you love it. (Brad: Yeah, that was great.) I was like, "Oh my gosh, Brad's and I fucking love this definition." And also, by the way, you could have a somatic therapist, (Brad: You can.) life coach, (Brad: Yeah.) and so you, like somatics is really amazing. Again, if you like, "What's somatic?" Listen to the other episode, just gonna make you do it. But you can have both and like, you can also have a therapist and a life coach, because one could be dealing with one thing and one you could be doing. (Brad: 100%) So you know, just that there are different things. But I loved how she explained it. I agree with you on that love.Brad Crowell Yeah. All right. So finally, let's talk about those BE IT action items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your conversation with Lauren Zoeller? She summed it all up with one, one solid action BE IT action item. She said, look at the patterns that have shown up in your relationships, and write them down. Why has every relationship ended? And is there a common thread?Lesley Logan Yeah, and I think you can look at friendships, as well as in family relationships, as well as love relationships. Like I think like, you know, we're not, we are different, with different people ish. But we all kind of wrote this thing. So like, if you look at how you how maybe a family member and you had a falling out, or a friend you had falling out, I bet you there's some common threads. And I think that can be worth journaling about. I'm not saying shame and judge all yourself, please. That's not what I'm saying ...Brad Crowell But it's still a hard thing to dig into and look and review. And, you know, I mean, I think that it's easy to avoid. Let's just say it can be easy to avoid thinking about this stuff. (Lesley: Oh yeah) So when you start to uncover it, it may be a little bit uncomfortable. You know, because if you're honest with yourself, you know, how much a part of the ending of those relationships where you? Obviously, it takes two people to be in a relationship. So you were clearly a part of it. How?Lesley Logan Yeah, and I think like, it's not like we're saying you should take all the blame, because that's not it at all. (Brad: No) But you should just actually look at like, what was your role in it? And like, if you're like, "Well, listen Brad, my person cheated on me." Okay, that's fine. I do not blame anybody who was cheated on, like as the reason for that, because that's a whole other ball of wax. But you can look at the red flags, that you ignored at the begining of the relationship that (Brad: Yeah) got you in relationship with someone who cheated on you. (Brad: Sure.) And there, and so you looking at those red flags that you ignored, those are choices. And you made those for specific reasons. (Brad: Yeah.) And there's nothing wrong with the choice you made. But then you can actually have this like, red flag marker. So when you're on a date, and you see that red flag and you go, "Oh, here I am with the same pattern of dating this person who is doing this out of spite..." (Brad: Exactly. Yeah.) And one thing, put a stop sign up. But you get to say, "Hey, you know, you said something. I just would like to go back to that. And just kind of explore that a little bit. (Brad: Yeah) Could you mind like, like, just give me a little bit more from that." And if they like dig a hole that's just like, wow, that's red flag just became a frickin fire, run. (Lesley laughs) (Brad: Yeah) Run away.Brad Crowell Yeah, I mean and it may be, I mean, there's, you know, in a yet last steps, so we were talking about or so in our last recap, we're talking about clients and firing a client. Same thing, I mean does, we're not necessarily talking about love relationships here. We're talking about relationships, right? So it could be you keep taking on clients that you, you know, I don't know, maybe, you know, we teachers, as a teacher, we all feel like we can help someone, but maybe we think we can help them emotionally in addition to physically and maybe that is like consistent issue. Because after a while you're fried, you're ready to move on to the next person, but now they're your client, you know, and it's possible that you've been doing this over and over again. You know, who knows? There's just a It's interesting to go back and take a look. And like what what Lauren said, look at the patterns that have shown up in your relationships and write them down. Why has every relationship ended? And what is that common thread?Lesley Logan Well, I'll be really honest. Like we would not have dated had I not like looked at the red flags and like been playing that game. And like looking at how all of the people I dated before you ended, I was like, "Oh, wow, there's a common interesting theme." And so when you came on, like, I challenge you a couple of times, like, ... you relate to something I said, "That doesn't, I don't like that doesn't work for me." You know, and like, we had to talk about it. So like, it's not like, if you see it, you're like, "I have to run away right now." No, you can actually have a conversation around it, (Brad: Sure.) and then like, say things and it really does allow you to have an adult relationship where yes, there's vulnerability. But what ...Brad Crowell I don't even think I asked you like things, you know, in that sense, I, I actually, I don't, I didn't have a plan when I was going through my divorce. But I did write things down. Because I couldn't keep it in my head anymore. I just couldn't juggle it all. Because it's so much as thinking about, you know, it's like replaying every conversation I ever had, ever. And, you know, you know how it is, it is right, and but what it allowed me to clarify, were the things that were important to me. And so when I went when we began to date, I literally had a list. I actually ...Lesley Logan I had a list. I had a list. I deleted my list after you dumped me because I was so mad at you. Because okay, so he came over with beer, and I'm fucking gluten free.Brad Crowell Oh, I did that.Lesley Logan And he came over with beer. This is not the first time I told him I was gluten free. This is the third time I had to tell him I'm just gluten free. And he brings us beer like, "Hey, I brought this beer." I'm like, "I'm gluten free. I can't drink it." And he's like, "Oh, yeah, that's right." And then he proceeded to take two hours of telling me everything he liked about me, and then why we couldn't go on a date. And I had this list and you checked off everything on the list, but I literally had written out remembers I'm gluten and dairy free. And I was like, "Fuck this list. It's not fucking working. I he meant everything and he fucked this up and he fucked that up." And I deleted the list. And then 10 days later, you're like, "Hey, I'm at Trader Joe's. I know you're gluten and dairy free. So I got you some veggies and hummus." I'm like, "Are you fucking kidding me right now?"Brad Crowell You know what? You know what I did. I actually went home and looked up. What is gluten free? Because I didn't know. You were like, "Yeah, I can't eat bread." I was like, "Oh. Well, okay, I guess she can't eat bread." So I didn't bring bread. But I actually looked it up. I was a dairy was pretty straightforward.Lesley Logan Yeah. (Brad: But gluten that I didn't know.) and Yeah. But that's if I didn't know you had a list. I have, I have a list anyways, obviously it worked out for us. But it's because you both ... reflected on past relationships and how they ended. (Brad: That's pretty funny.) And hey, I'm so happy we're together. We're celebrating seven years this fall. (Brad: What? That's crazy.) Yeah. How to Expand Your Energy Energy is everything. The world responds to YOUR energy and in this episode of the Waves of Joy Podcast, I offer an energy experiment inspired by Pam Grout in her book E2. This episode includes some our the live Yes To Me Challenge Day 1 from August 23, 2022. Here are the takeaways Stress is addictive. Pattern changing might feel life-threatening because of that addiction. It's just a patterned rut in your thinking and can be changed. Your ego might have to die a little but you won't die from allowing more ease into your life When you are thinking or talking about positive things, your energy LITERALLY expands Negative thinking or talking contracts your energy - you literally become smaller Saying yes to you starts in small steps that when combined, make a big impact Scaffold ways to feel better fast so you don't have to make decisions when you need to shift energy Use the bathroom when you have to go. No excuses. Today I share about books I have been reading, Energy work I've been doing and the power of positive thinking and abundance. The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino a great book. And reading through the scrolls has made a big difference in my thoughts and how I face each day so far. Have you read it? Then prayer and meditation: So powerful and necessary. I use the Insite Timer for great guided meditations and more. Then E2 : the Pam Grout book: Fascinating energy experiments that don't have to be difficult. I encourage you to be open to what the universe is sharing with you. I hope you love this episode as I continue to share my life's journey and the things I am discovering. Today, I'm teaching you how I made $215,000 from just 90 seconds of video. That result wasn't made in optimum conditions. It was during Covid in 2020, when I felt like I had the responsibility to continue to sell and to teach, because the space that I'm in is perfect for big changes in the world. And it wasn't any crazy launch, it was something really simple that I did to make $215,000, that you'll agree it's worth learning about today. What You Will Learn in This Episode: - Understanding that money and wealth creation is not linear - How meditation can help you get into the high frequency of creation - Practicing gratitude, yoga, shamanic shaking and other tools for getting into the frequency of receiving - How to decide what you want to sell - Choosing the window of time in which you want to sell - Identifying pain points and big results someone can create by buying your offer - What content went into 90 seconds of video that made me $215,000 - The importance of having a plan and structure in place with the right energy So have fun with this strategy, tools and tips I shared with you today. When you come from a genuine place of having created really good products and offers, and when you show up from a place of clear energy and high frequency you work in, you're going to attract those ideal clients to you.
