Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for October 25, 2025 is: wreak REEK verb Wreak means “to cause something very harmful or damaging.” It is often used with on or upon. // The virus wreaked havoc on my laptop. See the entry > Examples: “Ours is a geography of cataclysm: Santa Anas wreak their psychic wrath; the odor of disaster seeps from the street like that sulfurous egg smell of the La Brea Tar Pits.” — John Lopez, The Hollywood Reporter, 6 Sept. 2025 Did you know? In its early days, wreak was synonymous with avenge, a meaning exemplified when Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus proclaims “We will solicit heaven, and move the gods / To send down Justice for to wreak our wrongs.” This sense is now archaic, but the association hasn't been lost: although wreak is today most often paired with havoc, it is also still sometimes paired with words like vengeance and destruction. We humbly suggest you avoid wreaking any of that, however, no matter how badly you may crave your just deserts.

Cockatoos Wreak Havoc: Avian Vandals Attack Roofing Bolts Jeremy Zakis The discussion focuses on the intense destructive power of cockatoos in New South Wales, described as "gang members" who work in packs. Jeremy Zakis reports that eight to ten cockatoos had been actively targeting his neighbor's steel roof, successfully wrenching out two-inch-long galvanized steel roofing bolts. Jeremy notes the creatures are incredibly strong, with beaks capable of damaging the steel. In a particularly surprising act of "villainy," one cockatoo flew a removed bolt across the property line and dropped it onto Jeremy's driveway. The hosts speculate that this act could be a deliberate warning that Jeremy's house is next. These birds are clearly the disruptive outliers in the local happy bird world. DARWIN'S FUNERAL
Even small errors in your MRR schedule can have a massive impact on your retention metrics, and in due diligence, that can destroy investor confidence. In episode #318, Ben Murray explains why gaps in your monthly recurring revenue (MRR) schedule create inaccurate gross revenue retention (GRR) and net revenue retention (NRR) results — and how poor invoicing and renewal practices are often the root cause. You'll learn how to identify, fix, and prevent these gaps so your SaaS financial reporting and valuation metrics remain accurate and investor-ready. What You'll Learn ✅ What causes gaps in your MRR schedule (and how to spot them). ✅ How MRR gaps distort your retention, expansion, and churn calculations. ✅ Why these data issues raise red flags in due diligence. ✅ How to align renewal dates, contracts, and invoicing to eliminate data breaks. ✅ What a clean, accurate MRR waterfall should look like for SaaS and AI companies. ✅ Why you need at least three years of clean retention data before a fundraise or exit. Why It Matters For CFOs & Finance Teams: Gaps cause misleading GRR/NRR trends that erode trust in your data. For Founders & CEOs: Bad MRR data can hurt company valuation and slow down fundraising or acquisition. For Investors: Clean MRR schedules provide transparency into predictable revenue and retention strength. For Accountants: Accurate MRR waterfalls enable stronger financial modeling and forecasting. Resources Mentioned SaaS Metrics Foundation Course: https://www.thesaasacademy.com/the-saas-metrics-foundation Quote from Ben “If there are gaps in your MRR schedule, your retention story falls apart — and investors will notice.”
