Manifest star, Daryl Edwards sat down to have an introspective on his career, how impactful Manifest has become, the importance of loving one another and saying goodbye to a show he has come to love. Edwards spent extra time ensuring he could answer questions and break down that epic finale. We talk about the importance of family, bonding on the loss of family members -- and at one point, get emotional. Edwards, who didn't want to say goodbye to Manifest, also tells fun stories behind the scenes, how he and Josh Dallas (among the entire cast) became family and when he knew they were all bonded for life. *This interview was recorded before the SAG/WGA strike. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Marianna Randazzo Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: The crew and passengers were relieved when Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight. But in those few hours, the world had aged five years -- and after mourning their loss, their friends, families, and colleagues had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they're all given a second chance. But as their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds, and some of the returned passengers soon realize they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible. **Manifest is available to stream in full on Netflix. Josh Dallas, one of our favorite guests of all time, sat with me again to discuss the final ten episodes of Manifest. We spoke about how Ben Stone has developed, the importance of humanity, every moment of the series finale, and what we will miss about The Stones. Not going to lie; there were emotions. For this podcast, I wore my headpiece to honor his previous hit #OnceUponATime, so he found something special to represent Ben Stone and #Manifest one final time. Surely we can just do exactly the same thing again but put some dudes in it too and it will be equally as good, right?! Eep. Nevertheless, Brendan and Jason discuss how lazy the whole thing is, the re-design of the monsters, the return of an "iconic" character, dumb small-town sheriffs and much more. Josh Dallas spoke to us about Manifest's final season, including his new "unabomber look," as his character Ben Stone spirals down a dark path trying to recover from his wife's death and his daughter's kidnapping. Dallas was all smiles as he broke down some of the craziest plot twists that happened, including; ignoring the callings, living in his car, the time jump, scenes with Grace, all of the connections, and those final two minutes of episode ten. Dallas spent time with us just having fun and answering all of the things-- like, did he see Twitter go crazy when that photo came out with him and a fake Eden? What is something he is going to miss now that the show is over? Does he realize how much we love when he and his real-life wife show their love and support for one another on social media? Does he know how much we adore him and will miss this show? (we got answers to it all and more). Before we wrapped up, Dallas dropped some clues for fans on those final 10 episodes of the series, where we will see him next, and he left a message for the fans. We love you, Josh Dallas! Host: Monica Gleberman Co-Host: Jojo Editor: Polina Jdanova Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: Two years after the brutal murder of Grace turned their lives upside down, the Stone family is in shambles as a devastated Ben continues to mourn his wife and search for his kidnapped daughter, Eden. *Manifest Part 1 is available to stream now on Netflix. Melissa Roxburgh says she was so surprised when she got the call that Netflix was picking up Manifest for a final season to complete the story. Roxburgh added this show is a love letter from the cast of Manifest to all of the Manifesters who stuck by the show and never gave up, the ones who rewatched episodes, and wrote in letters. She said everyone's voice matters and in this instance it added life into a once cancelled show. When asked if we would see beyond the death date, Melissa confirmed we would, adding that the second part of the season (set to come out next year) gets even more intense. In the meantime, Roxburgh said she would miss being able to knock on Josh Dallas's (who plays Ben Stone, her brother on the series) trailer door, the shenanigans of the cast and crew, and filming every day. But for now, she said she couldn't be happier for fans to take this final flight with them. Minute One Hundred Three: From A Quiet Asgard to a Quiet Queen Joining us to say goodbye to the Warriors Three is Will Freeland from the Hype Is My Superpower podcast. In the one hundred-third minute of Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor... We're back to Asgard but the streets seem empty now. Is everyone feasting? It feels a bit like an early model to showcase what they could do. Then again, the empty streets fit the music. In the dining hall, we see Asgardians happily eating. Then we cut in to see Volstagg telling a tale of fighting the Destroyer while Fandral gives him grief. But why didn't we see this table in the wide shot? It's a bit odd the way these cut together. Regardless, Volstagg's tale is fun. Interesting and unfortunate that we don't get to spend much time hearing it as his dialogue is a bit buried under Patrick Doyle's melancholic theme. It makes sense – we're here with Thor who is mourning. It's just a bummer that this is the last we see of the Warriors Three in this movie. Thor walks off, sad and lonely. Sif notices. Have we had enough of her pining in this film? It feels like there could've been a bit more. Thor briefly holds his mother's hand as they comfort each other before he walks off. We like this beat. Makes us really want more of Rene Russo. Sif rises and meets Frigga as the two watch Thor walk off. It's a sad moment and Sif acknowledges Frigga's loss of Loki. It's interesting that Frigga says nothing but puts her hand on Sif's shoulder. It's very comforting, particularly as this small gesture from a queen toward one of her subjects can be seen as such a monumental moment. As mentioned above, this is picture wrap for Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, and Josh Dallas as Volstagg, Hogun, and Fandral. It's a shame they won't get much to do in the next two Thor films. It's a moment of goodbyes and finding comfort with Will Freeland. Tune in! Join the conversation with movie lovers from around the world on The Next Reel's Discord channel! Minute Twenty-Five: From Screaming Volstagg to Collapsing Utgard This week, we're joined by Cass Fredrickson from Lord of the Rings Minute at Dueling Genre Productions. We've got Mjølnir bringing the lightning, a collapsing city, and a run from a Jotun Beast to chat about and Cass is with us every step of the way! In the twenty-fifth minute of Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor... Volstagg's scream sure would've sent us running too, but then so would a giant Jotun Beast appearing from an ice shell directly behind us. How the hell do they always stay so far ahead of it? It's perpetually catching up to them as they race toward the Bifrost point. Where are they running to? The Bifrost landing point? Didn't Heimdall say Bifrost will remain closed if there's the chance they'd bring something back that could threaten Asgard? Wouldn't a charging Jotun Beast count? So are they... just running? Speaking of the Bifrost landing point, why does Heimdall have to pick them up at that one particular spot? Couldn't he get them from anywhere? This really makes no sense. Thor keeps the Frost Giants busy and presumably Laufey is seeing what Thor can do. Not quite lightning... but we're moments away. Why do they keep running straight at him? His Mjølnir spins are flicking ice shards at them and keeping them at bay, but is this for the benefit of his friends? The Frost Giants seem to be nothing more than lemmings. Just bring the lightning already! Is this Laufey's plan? To keep Thor separated from his group? There are, in fact, lots of Frost Giants running after them as well as the Jotun Beast. Is he hoping to capture everyone or is he trying to kill them all before Odin shows up? Or maybe Laufey wants to know what Thor can do and is testing his limits. Meanwhile, Loki, the Warriors Three, and Lady Sif continue their run from the Jotun Beast and the Jotuns. Now that he's injured, Fandral becomes our eyes as we see his POV over Volstagg's shoulder, watching the Jotun Beast grow closer over and over again. Sif manages to avoid getting hit. Hogun does as well. Seriously, how do they run so fast? Josh Dallas as Fandral works really well. We speculate why perhaps Dallas opted to stick with his TV show instead of returning for the sequels. Considering how the Warriors Three are treated, it makes sense. We get to see Mjølnir's power to bring the lightning down finally. This is such an iconic part of Thor and this film. It's so smart of them to hold it back until minute 25. It's neat to see that Thor actually strikes the ground with the end of the handle, not the head of the hammer, to control the lightning. The CG here holds up surprisingly well. The damage caused by Thor's lightning, however, might call into question just how much Thor can control the damage it would cause. To that end, we know Thor didn't realize Jotunheim was in such bad shape. But is he able to control this at all to make sure he doesn't destroy the entire planet? It's really Thor's dumb luck everything works. So many Frost Giants fall to their supposed deaths here because of Thor's actions. More of the planet falls to pieces. Even one of the towers of Utgardhall collapses. It's sad to lose Cass this week because we had great conversations with her about the Battle on Jotunheim, but we're glad to know she'll be back later this season for more conversation. Tune in! Minute Nine: From Odin's Look to Odin's Speech We have our first guest! We're joined by Ryanne Bennett for Thor's Coronation from the Black Girl Nerds podcast this week. Check her and her shows out at the links below! In the ninth minute of Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor... Odin looks on with a stone face as Thor continues his walk through the Asgardian crowd and the rows of Einherjar Honor Guard. Why does Odin actually look like he may be about to cry? Chris Hemsworth just owns this role. He's clearly having fun as he works the crowd here. We get an insane perspective shot from the top back of the throne room giving us a sense of this whole space. It's immense, ornate, and full of people. But are there representatives from all of Yggdrasil here like the script says? And where does that giant door go that's behind Odin's enormous throne? Is it his royal chambers? Is it Thor's Coronation or the official announcement that he's Odin's heir to the throne? Meanwhile, Thor gives a wink to his mother who shakes her head ever so slightly at him. It seems perhaps she gives in to him too often? And is this the straw that broke the camel's back for Odin, who finally decides to stand up? So this is where we would've met the Warriors Three if it wasn't for the deleted scene in the last minute. These characters were completely created by Kirby and Lee for the comics. They don't appear in Norse mythology anywhere. Again, it would've been nice to know how important these characters are in Thor's life before this moment. That's when Odin strikes Gungnir on the floor and its sound echoes through the throne room, silencing everyone. Wow, we all need something like that to quiet a room. Odin settles the crowd for Thor's Coronation. So now it's time for Odin to talk. And this is definitely a more aged Odin. Raising Thor would turn any parents' hair gray though, amiright? And it's again incredibly clear how much Branagh loves his dutch angles. Odin starts speaking but doesn't get to say much. Again, though, he seems like he's about to cry. Why is that? Finally, we play the IMDb game for Rene Russo, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, and Josh Dallas. It's Thor's Coronation – or is it? – in the biggest throne room we've ever seen. What's Odin going to say next? Tune in! Join the conversation with movie lovers from around the world on TruStory FM's Discord channel! This year's batch of Fall TV Premieres snuck up on us a bit. Here we are, the last show in September, and just now getting to the new shows coming out. In fact, this week may have been the biggest week for new and returning show premieres of the season. If you missed something that looks great, the good news is that you can probably find it on Hulu or the Networks' streaming app. Esquire has a great list of every premiere date up to September 30. Monday, Sept. 24 Magnum P.I. (CBS) Magnum P.I. is a modern take on the classic series starring Jay Hernandez as Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator in Hawaii. Manifest (NBC) Once Upon a Time's Josh Dallas stars in this mystery thriller about passengers on a plane who arrive at their destination after a few-hour flight only to learn that five years have somehow gone by in the world. Presuming the passengers and crew dead, their loved ones have mourned them and already moved on. Thrown into this impossible situation, the people who had been aboard the flight will be forced to figure out how to pick up the pieces of their personal lives, as well as the greater purpose that is their destiny. Tuesday, Sept. 25 FBI (CBS) FBI,from Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf, is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. These first-class agents -- including Special Agent Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym) and her partner, Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan (Zeeko Zaki) -- bring all their talents, intellect and technical expertise to tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence. New Amsterdam (NBC) Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin (The Blacklist's Ryan Eggold), the institution's newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. Not taking 'no' for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital -- the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof -- and return it to the glory that put it on the map. Wednesday, Sept. 26 A Million Little Things (ABC) They say friendship isn't one big thing, it's a million little things -- and that's true for a group of friends from Boston who bonded under unexpected circumstances. Some have achieved success, others are struggling in their careers and relationships, but all of them feel stuck in life. After one of them dies unexpectedly, it's just the wake-up call the others need to finally start living. Along the way, they discover that friends may be the one thing to save them from themselves. Single Parents (ABC) This ensemble comedy follows a group of single parents as they lean on each other to help raise their 7-year-old kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood. The series begins when the group meets Will (Taran Killam), a 30-something guy who's been so focused on raising his daughter that he's lost sight of who he is as a man. When the other single parents see just how far down the rabbit hole of PTA, parenting and princesses Will has gone, they band together to get him out in the dating world and make him realize that being a great parent doesn't mean sacrificing everything about your own identity. Thursday, Sept. 27 Murphy Brown (CBS) Candice Bergen and series creator Diane English reunite for the revival of the groundbreaking comedy about the eponymous broadcast news legend and her biting take on current events. Now in a world of 24-hour cable, social media, "fake news" and a vastly different political climate, Murphy returns to the airwaves with her original FYI team: lifestyle reporter Corky Sherwood (Faith Ford), investigative journalist Frank Fontana (Joe Regalbuto) and producer Miles Silverberg (Grant Shaud). Murphy's son, Avery, shares his mother's competitive spirit and quick wit, and has followed in her journalistic footsteps - perhaps too closely. Now back in the game, Murphy is determined to draw the line between good television and honest reporting, proving that the world needs Murphy Brown now more than ever. Friday, Sept. 28 The Cool Kids (Fox) From executive producer Charlie Day and starring David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Leslie Jordan and Vicki Lawrence, The Cool Kids is a multi-camera comedy about a rag-tag group of friends living in a retirement community who are willing to break every rule in order to have fun -- because, at their age, what do they really have to lose? What unites them all is their shared belief that they're not done yet -- not by a long shot. These self-proclaimed "cool kids" are determined to make the third act of their lives the craziest one yet. Sunday, Sept. 30 God Friended Me (CBS) Brandon Micheal Hall stars in this humorous, uplifting drama as Miles Finer, an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from God and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him. Wednesday, Oct. 10 All American (CW) Think The O.C. meets Friday Night Lights: A talented football player from South Los Angeles earns the chance to play football at Beverly Hills High, and his friends and family clash as the two worlds collide. The show is based on the real-life story of pro football player Spencer Paysinger. Taye Diggs stars as the Beverly Hills High coach. Sunday, Oct. 14 Charmed (CW) Charmed is getting a reboot from creators who previously wrote for Greek and Jane the Virgin. The pilot episodes, which aired at Comic Con, implied that the three witches earned their powers to fight the patriarchy at this moment because the “weakest man” had taken over the office of president. The Alec Baldwin Show (ABC) Alec Baldwin has been hosting an interview podcast called Here's the Thing for years. His new talk show aims to adapt that model for television. The weekly show will feature lengthy sit-down interviews with celebrities. A pilot episode with Jerry Seinfeld and Kate McKinnon as guests aired last spring. Tuesday, Oct. 16 The Conners (ABC) The revival of Roseanne was cancelled earlier this year. But some of her family members are remaining on the air. ABC confirmed that a Roseanne spinoff starring Laurie Metcalfe as Jackie, John Goodman as Dan and Sara Gilbert as Darlene will air this fall. ABC executives have said the show will deal with a number of the same thematic issues, including financial struggles, but they have remained mum on how the show will explain the character of Roseanne's absence from the series. The Kids Are Alright (ABC) Set in the 1970s, this ensemble comedy follows a traditional Irish-Catholic family, the Clearys, as they navigate big and small changes during one of America's most turbulent decades. In a working-class neighborhood outside Los Angeles, Mike (Michael Cudlitz) and Peggy (Mary McCormack) raise eight boisterous boys who live out their days with little supervision. The household is turned upside down when oldest son Lawrence (Sam Straley) returns home and announces he's quitting the seminary to go off and "save the world." Times are changing and this family will never be the same. The Rookie (ABC) Starting over isn't easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LAPD officer. As the force's oldest rookie, he's met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can't keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he'll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life. Mid-Season / Summer / TBD Whiskey Cavalier (ABC) Whiskey Cavalier is a high-octane, hour-long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: "Whiskey Cavalier"), played by Scott Foley. Following an emotional breakup, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca "Frankie" Trowbridge (codename: "Fiery Tribune"), played by Lauren Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics. Abby's (NBC) Abby's is an unlicensed bar run by Abby (The Grinder's Natalie Morales) in San Diego where the regulars enthusiastically enforce a unique set of rules that give them a sense of community and allow them to avoid the frustrating behavior found at other establishments. The multi-camera comedy will be filmed outside in front of a live studio audience. The Enemy Within (NBC) In this fast-paced, spy thriller, Erica Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter) is a brilliant former CIA operative, now known as the most notorious traitor in American history, serving life in a Supermax prison. Against every fiber of his being but with nowhere else to turn, FBI Agent Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut) enlists Shepherd to help track down a fiercely dangerous and elusive criminal she knows all too well. For Keaton, it's not easy to trust the woman who cost him so much. While Shepherd and Keaton have different motivations for bringing the enemy to justice, they both know that to catch a spy... they must think like one. The Passage (Fox) Based on author Justin Cronin's best-selling trilogy of the same name, The Passage is an epic, character-driven thriller about a secret government medical facility experimenting with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or cause the downfall of the human race. The series focuses on 10-year-old Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney), who is chosen to be a test subject for this experiment, and Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the federal agent who becomes her surrogate father as he tries to protect her. Schooled (ABC) This spin-off of The Goldbergs is set in the 1990s and follows the hilarious teachers of William Penn Academy - led by Tim Meadows (Principal Glascott), Bryan Callen (Coach Mellor) and AJ Michalka (Lainey Lewis) - who, despite their eccentricities and crazy personal lives, are heroes to their students. Eight years later, when this same celebrity is under suspicion for another murder, Maya Travis is lured back to the DA's office for another chance at justice. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza (Demian Bichir) owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi (Roselyn Sanchez), and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel's loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Here we have some new promo pics from the episode, and from the looks of things Ollie is going to find himself at Kovar's mercy. The eighth episode [of ‘Arrow'] is going to have a lot of big things coming out of it, and that's going to be one of them. Yes.” Ramsey also weighed in how Digg will react to the idea of an alien invasion, which will take place over the course of The CW's four-show crossover this fall. “How is he going to react to seeing a woman fly across the horizon in a skirt? That's an even better question!” he shared. “All of this flips Digg out, but I think he's slowly getting a grip that this is the world that he now lives in and that's part of his journey as well this season.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-diggle-will-confront-flash-about-the-consequences-of-flashpoint/ Arrow: Amell calls Oliver's vigilantism ‘A last resort' (Date: 28 Oct 2016) Asked what he thought of Oliver's enduring legacy as Green Arrow, Amell told CBR, “He's very tough on [the new recruits], but then — in private moments, speaking with people he holds in close confidence — he sort of extols their virtues. So I think that he's proud, but again, being a vigilante (and I think that he would agree with this) is the last resort, not the first resort. In a perfect world, Star City wouldn't need a Green Arrow. So I think that the proliferation of them, while heartening in some sense and encouraging, is also a reminder that he hasn't gotten the job done.” As to whether or not this job could ever truly be done, he added, “Of course! When the show is done, he'll have gotten the job done.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-amell-calls-olivers-vigilantism-a-last-resort/ Mericle calls Arrow's 100th episode a ‘Love letter to the show' (Date: 28 Oct 2016) Wendy Mericle spoke to CBR about finding a balance between “Arrow's” legacy and the crossover event, the future of the show, Green Lantern Easter eggs, female super-villains and more. About the 100th episode, she said, “It's the 100th and we wanted it to be very nostalgic and very much about the DNA of “Arrow,” of the show when it started. We feel really lucky. We found a way to balance the fact that we do now live in a world where there are metas and there are aliens. Greg Berlanti came up with this brilliant way of accomplishing that and making it very much a love letter to the fans and to the show.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/mericle-calls-arrows-100th-episode-a-love-letter-to-the-show/ Arrow: Lance & Thea will develop a father/daughter dynamic (Date: 29 Oct 2016) At the celebration of “Arrow's” 100th episode, Paul Blackthorne — who plays Quentin — told CBR that Thea's offer of help will lead the two to develop a father/daughter relationship as the season moves forward. He said, "We both felt the characters wouldn't realize that was happening for quite a long time. It's not like, ‘Oh, she feels like my daughter!' It's quite unspoken, but of course it does certainly feel like that. It's like, ‘I recognize this feeling, but it's with somebody else.' It's been interesting playing on that dynamic with her.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-lance-thea-will-develop-a-fatherdaughter-dynamic/ Is Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim teasing The Question appearance? (Date: 01 Nov 2016) Instead of Question coming to Star City, it looks like Team Arrow might be heading to Hub City instead.“Headed out of town…” he wrote. The caption was attached to an image advertising Hub City's premium development potential. At the bottom right-hand corner of the advert, fans can see that the advert is associated with Arrow's eleventh episode this season. Currently, fans have not been told what title the episode will carry, but fans are now wondering if it will have anything to do with the Question. Talia is the daughter of Ra's — who was the main villain in “Arrow's” third season, played by Matt Nable — and the half-sister of Nyssa al Ghul, who's played by Katrina Law. Talia, like Nyssa, is an elite warrior, excelling in multiple different forms of combat. Unlike her sister though, she refuses to pick sides and instead creates her own. "In some ways, there can be some episodes of Arrow that can be just as optimistic in their own way, especially given the perils that they're up against," Berlanti told ComicBook.com during a recent event celebrating the hundredth episode of Arrow. "It's definitely a darker-toned show in a lot of regards, but it's always the relationships and those are just as emotional and deep and fun." (Date: 02 Nov 2016) The early ratings for Tuesday are out, and if the numbers hold steady, CW's The Flash will have hit an all-time low with 2.71 million viewers and a .9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, coveted by advertisers for its purchasing power. That's still better than the once mighty Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., however, which seems to have settled into a .8 rating with 2.52 million viewers, even despite the recent addition of Ghost Rider. Once Upon a Time 521 | Last Rites Recap This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss Once Upon a Time episode 521, “Last Rites”. We got a heavy dose of drama, full of sadness with only a small twinkle of hope at the end. The Hades story finally comes to an end with the death of a beloved character. We discuss the loss, and whether a happy ending requires a romantic true love, or if the love of family is the real fairy tale ending we are driving towards. As well as all the heavy drama, we also got a surprisingly neat tie-up of the King Arthur story. The impact of this episode will last for a while, and we will have to wait for the season finale to get some clarity. Once Upon a Time 520 | Firebird Recap This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss the conclusion, at least for now, of the Underworld story in Once Upon a Timeepisode 520, “Firebird”. In a surprise twist, we end up with an odd alliance between Hades and our Storybrooke heroes. Rumple and Pan each have their own agendas, with Rumple wanting Hades to break the contract that endangers he and Belle’s child, while Pan is willing to do anything to get a new heart and escape the Underworld. But plans start to fall apart when it is found that Killian has been dead too long, and getting his heart won’t be as easy as it was for David and Snow. Along with an excellent flashback of Emma and the origin of “The Jacket”, this was a nice end to the Underworld story and we are thrilled to get back to Storybrooke and find out if the fate of Killian is set in stone. They introduced Mulan as a lesbian character during her story with Aurora a few seasons ago, but here we found that it is Ruby and Dorothy who fall in love, ending in the patented True Loves Kiss. We both enjoyed how romantic their love was and even dive into some of the queer history that has surrounded the Dorothy character for almost a century. Once Upon a Time 519 | Sisters Recap This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss sisters, mothers, and brothers in Once Upon a Time episode 519, “Sisters”. Cora returns and we find her at her best and her worst. Zelena finally meets her “wicked” mother in the underworld for some much needed resolution. And that resolution is given even more weight after we see how she treated a young Zelena, and young Regina, back in Enchanted Forest. We also discuss the very quick resolution to the James and David story, which seemed to play second fiddle and was a bit anti-climactic. But that said, the ending with its return of a scheming Rumple and his own “wicked” father sets up next week and the quickly approaching end of the Underworld storyline. They introduced Mulan as a lesbian character during her story with Aurora a few seasons ago, but here we found that it is Ruby and Dorothy who fall in love, ending in the patented True Loves Kiss. Once Upon a Time 518 | Ruby Slippers Recap This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss Ruby and Dorothy as our first full gay romance in Once Upon a Time episode 517, “Her Handsome Hero”. They introduced Mulan as a lesbian character during her story with Aurora a few seasons ago, but here we found that it is Ruby and Dorothy who fall in love, ending in the patented True Loves Kiss. Once Upon a Time 517 | Her Handsome Hero Recap This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss the return of Gaston as Belle and Rumple try to save their baby in Once Upon a Time episode 517, “Her Handsome Hero”. Belle goes to Rumple to get his help in dealing with the deal he has made for their child, but Hades has his own deal he wants to make with Belle. There is a lot of talk about light and dark magic and whether the dark can be used for good and we talk about all the complex, and sometimes contrary arguments they all make across the episode. Once Upon a Time 516 | Our Decay Recap This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss the return of Zelena and her surprising relationship with Hades in Once Upon a Time episode 516, “Our Decay”. We got a lot of answers in this episode about the Underworld and Hades as he and Zelena dive right into a romantic comedy. Snow White and Charming also have a really fun little side story about “level 1 hauntings.” A lot of unexpected turns happened in “Our Decay” and we couldn’t stop talking about it, so enjoy this super-sized episode. On this weeks Happily Ever After podcast we talk about the Winter Finale “Swan Song”, episode 11 of Once Upon a Time Season 5. Dark Hook has brought all the Dark Ones into Storybrooke from the Underworld. Emma and Regina try to convince Killian that dooming all our heroes is a step back from his redemptive path, but he isn’t listening. Although this episode has some terrific moments, most notably the great performance at the very end by Jennifer Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue, it also seemed to step back some of the excellent character development across this half season. We discuss the return of Mr. Gold/Rumplestilskin to the dark side, the continued duping of Belle and the lack of any Camelot conclusion alongside the excellent Regina scenes and that terrific end sacrifice by Killian. On this weeks Happily Ever After podcast we talk about the rise of Dark Hook on “Broken Heart”, episode 10 of Once Upon a Time. We are back for the story of Killian Jones as the new Dark One. Emma has to mend the family wounds from her own Dark One actions as she finally understands that the only way any of them will survive is by working together. This was a great episode all by itself, but it was the amazing ending and arrival of even more Dark Ones that really surprised us and has us so excited for the winter finale.
