Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning panellists Broadcaster Russ Williams, Actor TJ Ramini and Sport Italia Pundit Simone Dell'Uomo as Tottenham boosted their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League by staging a dramatic late comeback to beat Crystal Palace. Ange Postecoglou's side were heading for back-to-back defeats after Eberechi Eze's opener until two goals in three second-half minutes turned the game around. Timo Werner scored his first goal for the club by converting Brennan Johnson's cross in the 78th minute before Cristian Romero headed in James Maddison's cross in the 80th. Captain Son Heung-min swept home a minute from time to seal the three points, moving his side to within two points of fourth-placed Aston Villa. Werner had failed to convert when played clean through in a forgettable first half in which the hosts failed to break down Palace's stubborn defence. Eze's sweetly-struck free-kick put the visitors ahead in the 59th minute and there were grumbles from the home fans as chances were missed early in the second. But, to their credit, Spurs stuck to their task to inflict a first defeat on Palace manager Oliver Glasner. Music is a reflection of both our history as well as our social consciousness. It helps us make sense of the world and allows us to make personal connections with it. Perhaps more than any other art form, music is evocative; it triggers vivid memories of childhood, falling in love, loss and sadness - it forces us to look at ourselves to remember who we were and who we are.  Music always makes me feel connected in a Jungian sense. It makes me realize that the struggles I have are not mine alone, they are shared. Simply recognizing this makes me feel less alone and ultimately better.  I'm a big fan of the Blues. In the late 70-'s early 80's I lost my connection with popular music - it just didn't resonate., so as great bluesmen, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee said in one of their songs, I became a “white boy lost in the blues” I began to seek out roots music wherever I could find it. Fortunately Toronto in the early 80's was a place where the great blues artists were readily accessible to me in a number of small venues. I had the chance to see and meet some of the greatest blues artists of our time - Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Albert Collins, Fenton Robinson, Son Seals and a great many others - before what I will call the blues renaissance which occurred the nineties, when popular artists, realizing the contribution these aging blues players had made to the world of music began to appearing as guests on their records, thereby raising awareness of the blues form and these great artists in the minds of a white listening audience. So here's the rub, while blues themes tend to focus on “Feeling Blue” about things which happen in one's life - “The Thrill is Gone”, Baby Please Don't Go, The sky is crying” etc. the blues are about acknowledging our pain our feelings of loss and sadness, and by doing so, we feel better. This episode of the space celebrates the spirit of the blues ...#ForWhatitsWorthThe Music for Today's Show, "You Think I'm Bad" is written and performed by Oliver McQuaid. The Planetary Blues Band is formed by the trio of Martin Schaefer-Murray (guitar and lead vocals) Bobby Schaefer-Murray (bass) and Michael Schaefer-Murray (guitar), with their longtime friend Nick Evans on drums. The band is based in Valparaiso, Ind., near Chicago, and has been paying dues in Midwest bars and at local festivals for a decade. The name of the band, and the shortened moniker by which their fans know them – Planetary – exemplifies who they are and what they hope to accomplish.    They are a rock band, taking influence from a wide range of musical styles and melding it into their own distinct vision of what music is capable of, and how they can interpret and present it in a new way. Like most rock bands worth their salt, Planetary got their start playing, and being influenced by, the Blues. The band was born in 1999 in their mother's basement, where they spent countless hours learning entire albums by Chicago Blues greats like Buddy Guy and Son Seals. From there, over the course of the past 10 years, Planetary has held onto those roots while expanding outward into various other corners of the musical universe.

The 78th edition of The Roadhouse Podcast provides a little shelter from the storm - the storm of a tough old world that seemed to get even tougher and colder in the past week. Though The Roadhouse might be a little rundown shack at the end of the street, the roof doesn't leak and the wind doesn't race through the windows. That's because it's built on a foundation of great blues, including Ronnie Baker Brooks, Son Seals, Ian Siegel, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Stephen Dale Petit. We re-glaze the windows this week, too, with another Roadhouse Rewound segment, and introduce yet another new member of The Roadhouse family of permissions-based blues labels. Come on inside and escape the world for another hour of the finest blues you've never heard.
