Zu Beginn von Folge 16 regt sich Juni erstmal wieder auf; diesmal darüber, dass Nobelpreisträger*innen häufig auf ein „Wissenspodest“ gestellt werden, obwohl sie natürlich nicht in allem Expert*in sind. Stephanie Kwolek wollte eigentlich Medizin studieren, ist dann aber doch in der industriellen Chemie geblieben und hat sich mit Kunststoffen beschäftigt. Mit ihrer Erfindung hat sie trotzdem Menschenleben gerettet und nebenbei auch noch ein tolles Experiment für den Schulunterricht entwickelt. Carolyn Bertozzi ist vielen seit neuestem bekannt, da sie den diesjährigen Chemie-Nobelpreis gewonnen hat. Diesen hat sie für die Entwicklung und Prägung des Bereichs der bioorthogonalen Chemie bekommen. Aber auch sozial ist sie sehr engagiert und setzt sich für die Gleichbehandlung aller Menschen unabhängig ihres Geschlechts, ihrer Herkunft, Religion und Sexualität ein. Kevlarbydupont is a fourth level abjuration with a range of touch, a duration of an hour, requires concentration to maintain, and has a material requirement of a pinch of diamond power which the spell consumes.  However, synthetic powder works just as well with less cost. Kevlarbydupont makes the flesh of a living creature resistant to cutting and piercing while still being sensitive and flexible. Discovered in 1965 in Delaware by Stephanie Kwolek, the spell has become a staple in manufacturing and law enforcement.  When used with the spell Aakasmikata (uh-cause-mit-kuh), today's spell will activate the instant the skin is touched.  Kevarbydupont is fast enough to stop a bullet and save a saw operator from losing a finger.  Researches found that the spell is slightly less effective when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light, but the effect is not noticeable.  The spell does not protect against heat, and should the skin be exposed to a temperature above 350 degrees, the spell will fail.  If you watch the whitewater slalom event during the Summer Olympics, you will see each athlete cast Kevlarbydupont as it has been a safety requirement since the readoption of the sport in 1992.

Kevlarbydupont is a fourth level abjuration with a range of touch, a duration of an hour, requires concentration to maintain, and has a material requirement of a pinch of diamond power which the spell consumes.  However, synthetic powder works just as well with less cost. Kevlarbydupont makes the flesh of a living creature resistant to cutting and piercing while still being sensitive and flexible. Discovered in 1965 in Delaware by Stephanie Kwolek, the spell has become a staple in manufacturing and law enforcement.  When used with the spell Aakasmikata (uh-cause-mit-kuh), today’s spell will activate the instant the skin is touched.  Kevarbydupont is fast enough to stop a bullet and save a saw operator from losing a finger.  Researches found that the spell is slightly less effective when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light, but the effect is not noticeable.  The spell does not protect against heat, and should the skin be exposed to a temperature above 350 degrees, the spell will fail.  If you watch the whitewater slalom event during the Summer Olympics, you will see each athlete cast Kevlarbydupont as it has been a safety requirement since the readoption of the sport in 1992.

Stephanie Kwolek is one of the world's most bad-ass chemists, as she worked in the 1960s at DuPont to create Kevlar, one of the strongest fibers in existence. Kevlar has saved thousands of lives with inventions such as bulletproof vests and parts of spaceships. Kwolek's journey was not an easy one, as she was continually passed over for a man. However, she is one of our unsung feminist heroes as she continued to pursue her career in science.
