Die Höhepunkte aus jodlerischer Sicht 2025 waren sicherlich die vier regionalen Jodlerfeste, die sogenannten Unterverbandsfeste in Reigoldswil, Lenk-St. Stephan, Menznau und Altstätten. Aber auch der Wettbewerb «Folklorenachwuchs» in Gossau SG darf als Höhepunkt bezeichnet werden. Zudem wurde der Schweizer Jodel in diesem Jahr auf die UNESCO-Liste des immateriellen Kulturerbes der Menschheit aufgenommen. Dazu erschienen auch viele neue Jodel-CDs. Redaktor Sämi Studer blickt in dieser «Fiirabigmusig» zurück auf die schönsten Momente des Jahres und präsentiert einige Perlen aus CD-Produktionen des ablaufenden Jahres.

This week on Chess Journeys, I spoke with Nick. He's a prolific chess writer on Substack, and a is making his 3rd appearance on Chess Journeys. We discussed his lengthy fall from 1730 to 1511. It was a true pit of despair. Nick talked about losing confidence in his intuition, which caused extensive time trouble. He spoke about working out of the funk, how to use Chessable better, and his analysis of over 3,000 master games. Einmal im Jahr treffe ich mich mit Raphael Studer von Algrano, einem alten Bekannten und Freund, um das Kaffeejahr gebührend durchzusprechen. Wir analysieren die grossen Achsen, formulieren kecke und steile Thesen und schauen in die grosse Kristallkugel, wie sich die Kaffeewelt entwickeln wird. Heute ist die Volatilität massiv hoch und bedroht viele Unternehmen. Darüber reden wir, ebenso wie über Konsumentenmärkte. Während wir uns in Europa mit selbst geschaffenen Problemchen herumschlagen, lädt China mal eben über 100 Handelshäuser ein und sagt: Bringt allen Kaffee hierher, wenn ihr die EUDR nicht möchtet. Wir manövrieren uns auf zwei Commodity Markets zu: einen EUDR-konformen und einen nicht-konformen, dem die EU-Regeln so ziemlich egal sind. Wir sehen heute Produzenten, die Qualitäten produzieren können wie noch nie. Die über Ausbildungen und Tools verfügen und jetzt gleichberechtigte Akteure im Markt sind. Ein Punkt, den wir immer wollten, sagt Raphael. Genau deswegen müssen wir den Blick öffnen – z. B. in die Local Markets, wie es so oft heisst, also die Konsumationsmärkte in den Ländern, wo Kaffee produziert wird. Oft hiess es, dass man in Kaffeeländern den schlechtesten Kaffee trinken würde. Das war einmal. Brasilien wird in Kürze das grösste Konsumationsland werden, und da boomt Spezialitätenkaffee. Genauso wie in Mexiko und anderen Ländern, wo die Mittelschicht schnell wächst. Wir brauchen heute mehr Makro und keine Nabelschau. Raphael ist wieder mal auf Zack und in einer Stunde haben wir das Jahr 2025 abgehakt.

Interview with Simon Studer, interim CEO, Kingman MineralsRecording date: 9th December 2025Kingman Minerals Ltd. is advancing plans to revive a 140-year-old gold and silver mine in Arizona's Mohave County, with exploration work set to commence in early 2026. Under the leadership of interim CEO Simon Studer, the company recently completed an oversubscribed $1.5 million financing round that brings total treasury to $2.1 million—sufficient to fund the year's entire exploration program.The Rosebud Mine, discovered in the 1880s and active during the 1920s and 1930s, has yielded remarkably high-grade results in recent sampling. Underground channel samples collected in 2020 revealed values up to 688 grams per ton gold from material left behind by earlier operators. Historical drilling has shown grades ranging from 9-13 grams per ton over 2-meter intervals, though no modern compliant resource estimate currently exists.What makes this opportunity particularly intriguing is that previous operators exclusively focused on the shallow oxide zone above 100 meters depth, never systematically exploring the deeper sulfide mineralization that could represent the bulk of the deposit. The property shows evidence of at least eight distinct sub-parallel vein structures, most of which remain inadequately tested.The 2026 exploration program begins with drone-based magnetometry in mid-December 2025, covering the entire 590-hectare Mohave project area. This geophysical work will provide 3D structural modeling to optimize drill targeting. Drilling is scheduled to begin in Q1 2026, initially testing strike extensions of the two most productive historic veins before expanding to parallel structures.With approximately 42 million shares outstanding and a market capitalization around $4 million, management believes the company is significantly undervalued relative to its high-grade potential and production history. Dabei ging bei seinem internationalem Durchbruch in Marbella ziemlich viel schief. Doch der Ex-Schwimmer gehört zur neuen Generation enorm leistungsfähiger Athleten, die althergebrachte Gesetze aushebeln und Grenzen verschieben. Obwohl sein Medizinstudium im kommenden Jahr mit einem 100 Prozent Praktikum (noch) anspruchsvoller wird, steht fest: Samuel Studer wird 2026 bei den Profis starten und erfüllt sich damit einen langgehegten Traum. Er sei gespannt, wie weit er in seiner vielversprechenden Karriere noch komme: «Ich freue mich extrem aufs nächste Kapitel». ALLEIN AM STRASSENRAND Das Gespräch mit Samuel Studer ist voller Überraschungen. Zum Beispiel trainiert er eher «Old School» als wissenschaftlich, wie er es nennt. Oder, als wären Studium und Sport nicht genug, arbeitet er im Nebenjob für die Ausgaben, die der Triathlon fordert. This week on Chess Journeys, I spoke with Luca about his chess journey. Luca has a healthy relationship with chess improvement and ratings. He seems most interested in enjoying the game and the experience of putting away devices and fully immersing himself in tournament games. We talked about resources that have helped his journey such as Chess Tactics from Scratch, Drill Your Chess Strategy (the mini plans book), and the Checkmate Patterns Manual. He also talked about the value of coaching, fitness, and his love of adult tournaments such as the ALTO in Charlotte. This week on Chess Journeys, I spoke with Alex about his chess journey. Alex is a teacher that picked up chess while running a chess club. His goal is 2000 Lichess and the arena grand master title. He uses daily games and tactics as the primary parts of his training. He finds that daily games help him learn openings in a more organic way than memorization.
