fWotD Episode 2823: Telephone (song) Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Sunday, 26 January 2025 is Telephone (song)."Telephone" is a song by American singer Lady Gaga from her third extended play (EP), The Fame Monster (2009)—the reissue of her debut studio album, The Fame (2008). Featuring American singer Beyoncé, it was released as the EP's second single on January 26, 2010. Gaga and Rodney Jerkins wrote and produced "Telephone", with additional songwriting by LaShawn Daniels, Lazonate Franklin and Beyoncé. Gaga originally wrote the song for Britney Spears, who recorded a demo. "Telephone" conveys Gaga's fear of not finding time for fun given the increasing pressure for her to work harder as an artist. Musically, the song consists of an expanded bridge, verse-rap and a sampled voice of an operator announcing that the phone line is unreachable. Beyoncé appears in the middle of the song, singing the verses in a "rapid-fire" way, accompanied by double beats."Telephone" received positive reviews from critics who called it a stand-out track from The Fame Monster and praised Gaga's chemistry with Beyoncé. Several critics included it in their best-of list of 2010. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, and won a ASCAP Pop Music Award and a BMI Award. Following the album's release, the song charted in many countries, including Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Hungary. Peaking at number three in the US, it was particularly successful in Europe where it topped the charts in Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Ireland, Norway and the UK. The song sold 7.4 million digital copies worldwide in 2010, making it the year's fourth best-selling single. The accompanying music video for "Telephone", shot as a short film, was filmed in an intense two-day shoot across multiple locations, with minimalist lighting and meticulous planning, allowing 150 setups per day to be captured. It is a continuation of the video for "Paparazzi" (2009), the fifth single from The Fame. It follows Beyoncé as she bails Gaga out of prison for killing her boyfriend; they go to a diner and poison the customers' breakfast. The video ends as they attempt to escape a high-speed police chase. It references Quentin Tarantino and his films Pulp Fiction (1994) and Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003). The video received generally positive reviews and was nominated for three awards at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year. In January 2015, Billboard named it the best video of the decade. NME listed it as one of the 100 greatest music videos of all time. Retrospective reviewers analyzed the video's themes, including feminism, lesbianism, and commentary on fame and celebrity culture. In memory of fashion designer and friend Alexander McQueen, Gaga performed an acoustic rendition of "Telephone" at the 2010 BRIT Awards. She also sang it during the Super Bowl LI halftime show, and many of her concert tours and other live appearances. The song was covered by several artists, as well as characters from the television show Glee. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:33 UTC on Sunday, 26 January 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Telephone (song) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Emma.

This episode delves into the fascinating psychology behind clutch performances and flow states, exploring how athletes reach these pinnacles of achievement and what we can learn from them about mastering pressure and unlocking our own peak performance. Key Takeaways: ✔️ Iconic moments like Maradona's goal, Jordan's last shot, and Brady's Super Bowl comeback highlight the essence of clutch performance under pressure. ✔️ Clutch performance is about delivering peak ability in critical, high-pressure situations, distinct from being in a state of flow. ✔️ Flow involves deep immersion and seamless execution of skill without conscious effort, contrasting with the acute pressure awareness in clutch moments. ✔️ Recent research is starting to unravel the psychological frameworks that enable athletes to excel in clutch situations, offering insights applicable beyond sports.

Welcome to episode 129 of the What are We Doing podcast! In this week's episode, hosts Levi and Los break down Super Bowl LVIII where the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. The Chiefs came into the game as underdogs but were able to overcome a 10-point deficit to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl champions in two decades. The game was a rematch of Super Bowl LIV in 2020 when the Chiefs beat the Niners 31-20. It was an exciting back-and-forth game that went down to the wire. The Chiefs struck first with a field goal at the end of the second quarter. In the third quarter, the Niners responded with a touchdown thanks to a trick play where wide receiver Jauan Jennings threw to running back Christian McCaffrey for a 21-yard score. The Chiefs battled back at the end of the third with their own touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The fourth quarter saw both teams trade field goals and touchdowns. With under two minutes left, Niners kicker Jake Moody hit a 53-yarder to put San Francisco up 19-16. But Mahomes led an impressive last-minute drive, setting up a game-tying field goal with 3 seconds left to force overtime. In OT, the Niners struck first with a field goal. But Mahomes worked his magic again, driving KC down the field and hitting Mecole Hardman for the game-winning 1-yard TD pass with just 13 seconds left. Mahomes cemented his legacy as a clutch performer, leading another comeback win. It was only the second Super Bowl ever to go to overtime after Super Bowl LI in 2017. Chiefs coach Andy Reid stayed perfect against 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, moving to 4-0. And the Niners drought without a Super Bowl win extends to 30 years now. The Chiefs defense came up big all game, containing the Niners attack. And the KC offense persevered despite turnovers and miscues. Mahomes battled through an uncharacteristic interception. The running backs on both teams struggled to hold onto the ball. But in the end, Mahomes and the Chiefs made just enough plays to get another Lombardi Trophy. In the episode, Levi and Los discuss the keys to the Chiefs win, including the late defensive stops and Mahomes' resolve. They talk about the trick plays, turnovers, and other big moments that swung the game. They analyze the coaches' decisions and the adjustments both teams made. They also dive into the halftime show featuring Usher with guest appearances from others like Alicia Keys. Usher ran through his hits from across his decades-long career. From "Caught Up" to "Yeah" with Lil Jon, it was a high-energy performance filled with costume changes and choreography. Levi and Los debate where this Super Bowl ranks among the best ever. Does it match up to classics like Super Bowl XLIX and LI? Are the Chiefs now an NFL dynasty after winning 3 Lombardis in 5 years? Where does Mahomes rank among the all-time great QBs after adding a second Super Bowl MVP? It's an action-packed episode breaking down all the big storylines from Super Bowl LVIII! Whether you watched the game or missed it, this is the perfect podcast to catch you up on everything that went down as the Chiefs emerged victorious in another Super Bowl classic. ********** Disclaimer: We at the What are We Doing podcast want to make it clear that the views and opinions expressed in this video belong solely to the speakers or authors and do not represent the views and opinions held by YouTube, its partners, or its owners. Martellus Bennett is reimagining imagination. He's perhaps best known in cultural press for his championship NFL career which included the famous Super Bowl LI comeback where his Patriots were down 28-3 at halftime and rallied for a 34-28 win in OT. But Martellus, who goes by Marty now as well as the new moniker Mr.TOMONOSHi, served as starting Tight End and recorded five catches for 62 yards as well as drawing the key Pass Interference penalty that set up the game-winning touchdown. He said afterwards he didn't know they won. “I'm telling you, bro. I was in flow. Like, I don't know what the score is, right? I had no idea.” There may be a few reasons for that flow experience, though. Marty has always been a truly broad and dimensional thinker who questions and examines everything. Why? “I had parents who let us talk at the kitchen table.” As a result, he's still only in his 30s and has just massively varied interests and pursuits. “I'm always reading, searching, asking why, what if, or how?” Just as likely to be found in Japan searching for illumination, drawing cartoons to inspire young black kids (the award-winning book Dear Black Boy, as an example), tracing his family's pre-slavery origins in Senegal, writing and releasing hip-hop albums, and always — always! — standing up and speaking out for what he believes in. No wonder he was one of the first NFL players kneeling in 2016 — joining Colin Kaepernick and older brother Michael — in a tough position that made him a target. Indeed, he left the Green Bay Packers after that year... “The way you feel the coldness when you walk into a freezer, you could feel the racism there.” Today Marty carries and emanates the deep purpose of re-igniting imaginations worldwide. He wants to “activate imagination through touch, sound, smell, taste, and the body” and help support every human's “opportunity to play, explore the universe, experience joy, wonder, and have active social connections regardless of age.” He lives in Houston with his wife and daughter AJ and operates out of an an incredible in-the-neighborhood studio-space he's named the TOMONOSHi! I+d LAB — a kind of magical Willy Wonka factory-esque playground full of hand-built bookshelves, woodshop tables, computers for recording music, a stump garden, and, yes, a Bird Hotel. When kids walk by they smile and scream out “Hi Mr. TOMONOSHi!” and he smiles and screams back. He's even adopted their moniker as a way to communicate his expanding identity and purpose. He soaks into the identity and challenges societal norms around labels in almost every way. Mr. TOMONOSHi interacts, serves, and connects with the community, writes and illustrates children's books — like his popular Hey AJ series — and even has a deal with Disney for an upcoming series based on his books. “My life is my biggest art project,” he says. And it's a beautiful one. So let's fly down to Houston, Texas and enjoy a long sunny morning at a hand-made table — made by Mr. TOMONOSHi, of course — to experience the wit, wonder, and wisdom of a true renaissance man. Lily Tomlin! Jane Fonda! Rita Moreno! Sally Field! We had to see what these 80-year-old ladies were up to in the geriatric sports comedy 80 For Brady. The story features four lifelong friends who travel to watch Tom Brady play in Super Bowl LI in 2017. The movie offers supporting roles from Tom Brady, Billy Porter, Rob Corddry, Alex Moffat, Bob Balaban, Glynn Turman, Sara Gilbert, Patton Oswalt, Rob Gronkowski, and the one and only Guy Fieri. The witty screenplay was written by Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern, who were the writers of Booksmart (2019). The cinematography is by the great John Toll, who shot Braveheart, The Thin Red Line, and Cloud Atlas. Laughs were had by most of the audience for this wacky comedy. We'll tell you all the trouble that these ladies get into!
Chris looks back at the career of 3x Super Bowl Champion WR Julian Edelman and how Julian went from QB to WR, fitting in with the Patriots offense, his relationships with Tom Brady & Bill Belichick, the Patriots 2016 resurgence and Super Bowl LI, Super Bowl LII, and more.
