Strap in because the latest episode of the RevLimiter is firing on all cylinders and 'confecting' all the stories from a big weekend of motorsport! We kicked things off under the Bahrain lights, where Oscar Piastri was cooler than a cucumber in the sand, delivering a textbook takedown of McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Some say it was domination, others say it was daylight robbery — either way, poor Lando looked like his spirit had been quietly escorted out of parc fermé. Meanwhile, Gorgeous George Russell was driving a wounded Mercedes but still managed to fend off Norris for P2. We're not saying George's defence was heroic... but somewhere, a Union Jack just fluttered with pride. Was it genuine pace, team strategy, or just a bit of well-timed confecting from the pit wall? We don't know, but it tasted sweet for Oscar either way.Back on home turf — well, close enough — it was a Kiwi cash grab in Taupō as Matt Payne cleaned up with two wins, the Jason Richards Trophy, and presumably a new savings account. Chaz Mostert kept it interesting by pinching one of the wins, but Payne was the local hero with the Midas touch. We also dive into Tony Quinn's bold call to rotate the New Zealand round between the country's four big tracks — because, as he puts it, NZ can only support one round a year, but why not let everyone have a turn?Plus, we round out the episode with the latest from overseas: NASCAR and IMSA winners get their dues, and Marc Márquez proves once again he's not just back — he's back on top in MotoGP.Catch all the banter, breakdowns and a few dodgy predictions on the RevLimiter. It's like a warm-up lap for your ears.

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 18, 2025 6:15

Stāsta Latvijas Nacionālā rakstniecības un mūzikas muzeja direktore Iveta Ruskule Vai zini, ka Latvijas Nacionālā rakstniecības un mūzikas muzeja mūzikas instrumentu kolekcijas lielāko daļu veido Latvijas meistaru būvēti instrumenti? Viens no muzeja lepnumiem ir mūzikas instrumentu kolekcija, kurā reģistrētas 360 vienības. Jau kopš muzeja kolekciju pirmsākumiem tajās nonāca atsevišķi mūzikas instrumenti, kuru īpašnieki un lietotāji bija muzeja interešu lokā esošās kultūras personības, piemēram, operdziedātājas Alīdas Vānes mandolīna un pianīns, dzejniekiem Fricim Bārdam, Jānim Akurateram, kordiriģentam Teodoram Reiteram piederējušās vijoles, Eduarda Smiļģa flīģelis un, protams, jāmin īpašais lepnums – Baumaņu Kārļa Pēterburgā iegādātais flīģelis, kurš kļuva par mūsu valsts himnas sacerēšanas instrumentu. Šo personībām piederējušo instrumentu kolekcijas līniju muzejs joprojām turpina, komplektējot instrumentus un dokumentējot to lietotāju attiecību stāstus. Tā, piemēram, pirms gada muzeja kolekcijā kā dāvinājums no pasaulslavenā vijolnieka Gidona Krēmera rokām nonāca vienkārša rūpnieciski izgatavota bērnu vijole, uz kuras ir daudzu pasaulslavenu mākslinieku, arī paša Gidona Krēmera autogrāfi. Vijoli savam leģendārajam pedagogam Voldemāram Stūrestepam viņa 60 dzīves un 40 darba gadu jubilejā 1969. gadā dāvinājuši viņa audzēkņi Emīla Dārziņa mūzikas skolā. To vidū 20. gs. otrās puses Latvijas vijoļspēles zieds – vijoļvirtuozi Gidons Krēmers, Filips Hiršhorns, izcilā pedagoģe Dace Bērzāja, solisti Rasma Lielmane, Arkādijs Fomins un kamermūzikas izpildītāji Jutis Madrēvičs, Jānis Bulavs.

From next month, its food delivery will be available in smaller towns like Taupō, Levin, Whakatāne, Timaru and Wānaka. Restaurant Association President and Monsoon Poon Owner Mike Egan says it's perfect timing - just before summer. "I can see the campgrounds, people who will be sick of having snags on the barbecue and order up some Uber Eats. If you've had too many drinks in the sun , just drive to your favourite restaurant." Tonight on The Huddle, motivational speaker and social activist Dave Letele and Kiwiblog writer and Curia pollster David Farrar joined in on a discussion about the following issues of the day - and more! Councils around the country might be looking at their own finances after the Government appointed a Crown observer to Wellington City Council yesterday. Plenty of other councils have had huge rates rises recently - should they feel put on notice? David Seymour has announced he's managed to save over $100 million per year with his new school lunch programme. The meals include 'hidden veggie' butter chicken, Thai chicken curry and rice bean burritos. What do we think of this? Was the backlash against David Seymour taken too far? ANZ head Antonia Watson raised a few eyebrows after she revealed she wasn't keeping track of how much she earned each year. Is this to be expected from a bank CEO? Uber Eats is set to expand into Taupō, Levin, Whakatāne, Timaru, Wānaka and other small Kiwi towns. Are we looking forward to this? LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
