The country's recorded its deadliest King's Birthday Weekend on the roads in a decade. Three people were killed in a two-car collision on the Desert Road early yesterday morning, following two crashes in Taupō, a crash on Waiheke Island, and a crash in Dunedin. That brings the total number of deaths to at least seven. AA Road Safety Spokesperson Dylan Thomsen told Francesca Rudkin overall road deaths are falling but are still higher than other countries. He says we're improving, but this weekend just shows how a few moments can destroy people's lives. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ryan Wood's eager to prove success his in Taupō was no fluke when he gets back behind the wheel of his Toyota at the maiden Supercars event in Christchurch. Four races will be staged across the weekend, including a postponed race from last week's weather hampered stop in Taupo. Wood picked up his second career victory and a third placing across the two races that were completed. Wood told Mike Hosking they'll find out tomorrow if his momentum from last Saturday will pull through to this weekend's races. “If there is momentum, then I'll be trying to use it. I've still got confidence, so we'll see how it goes.” “At the end of the day, I don't overthink it, just go out there and drive.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"The weather could not have been a more idyllic. I was basking in the brilliance of Lake Taupō aboard the glorious replica steamboat, Ernest Kemp, as were several dozen guests from all over the world. Cruising the great lake for over 40 years, this gorgeous little vessel that accommodates 50 guests, began life in Kerikeri, named in honour of the last member of the Kemp family to live at Kemp House. A massive and damaging flood in the Kerikeri Inlet in 1981 prompted the sale of this shallow draught vessel, and Ernest Kemp began a new life feeling the lake's freshwater on its hull, a year later.: "For a complete change of pace, I was itching to rock some of Taupō's much-vaunted mountain bike trails. And they won't disappoint." Read Mike's full article here. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Taupō Mayor says he'd be surprised if Air New Zealand cut its popular regional route. Some regional flights could be on the chopping block after the airline posted a $40 million half-year loss. It's pointed to ongoing fleet constraints, a slower recovery in domestic demand, and persistently high aviation system inflation. Mayor John Funnell told Ryan Bridge he understands costs are rising, but the Taupō to Auckland flights are close to full every time. He says they have a good relationship with Air New Zealand and isn't expecting any changes. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Since then, he's helped over 115 patients in Taupō put type 2 diabetes into remission—an achievement that's not only reshaped his practice, but challenged the conventional approach to chronic disease management. He was named General Practitioner of the Year in 2021.In this conversation, we explore what "remission" really means in clinical terms, the systems that help sustain it, and the biomarkers that shift most consistently. Glen also shares insights on the psychology of behaviour change, the risks and rewards of keto, and the real-world barriers to scaling this model across New Zealand. They also have a frank conversation of the level of knowledge that GPs have to prevent and treat the modern day health crisis that NZ (like most countries) is facing.Glen Davies: https://reversalnz.co.nz/team/dr-glen-davies/ Contact Mikki:https://mikkiwilliden.com/https://www.facebook.com/mikkiwillidennutritionhttps://www.instagram.com/mikkiwilliden/https://linktr.ee/mikkiwilliden

An agreement between Taupo councillors and local iwi Ngāti Tūwharetoa has caused controversy after one of the councillors called in lobby group Hobson Pledge to raise concerns with a wider audience. Maori News Journalist Pokere Paewai spoke to Corin Dann.
Simmonds has denied intentional use, attributing the positive test to intimate contact with her partner, who was unknowingly taking Ligandrol to improve his physique. We explore the details of this case, its implications for her career, and the broader impact on the sport. We then sit down with Mike Phillips, the new Ironman New Zealand champion and course record holder, to hear how his race unfolded and what this result means for the rest of his season. Finally, we recap all the action from Ironman New Zealand, breaking down the key performances, race dynamics, and standout moments from Taupō.
