Strap in because the latest episode of the RevLimiter is firing on all cylinders and 'confecting' all the stories from a big weekend of motorsport! We kicked things off under the Bahrain lights, where Oscar Piastri was cooler than a cucumber in the sand, delivering a textbook takedown of McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Some say it was domination, others say it was daylight robbery — either way, poor Lando looked like his spirit had been quietly escorted out of parc fermé. Meanwhile, Gorgeous George Russell was driving a wounded Mercedes but still managed to fend off Norris for P2. We're not saying George's defence was heroic... but somewhere, a Union Jack just fluttered with pride. Was it genuine pace, team strategy, or just a bit of well-timed confecting from the pit wall? We don't know, but it tasted sweet for Oscar either way.Back on home turf — well, close enough — it was a Kiwi cash grab in Taupō as Matt Payne cleaned up with two wins, the Jason Richards Trophy, and presumably a new savings account. Chaz Mostert kept it interesting by pinching one of the wins, but Payne was the local hero with the Midas touch. We also dive into Tony Quinn's bold call to rotate the New Zealand round between the country's four big tracks — because, as he puts it, NZ can only support one round a year, but why not let everyone have a turn?Plus, we round out the episode with the latest from overseas: NASCAR and IMSA winners get their dues, and Marc Márquez proves once again he's not just back — he's back on top in MotoGP.Catch all the banter, breakdowns and a few dodgy predictions on the RevLimiter. It's like a warm-up lap for your ears.

The story of self-made millionaire Tony Quinn is fairly well-known, but there's more to the tale. Quinn made his fortune through pet food and confectionary but is a keen motorsport driver and the visionary behind Highlands Motorsport Park in Central Otago. Originally released in 2016, his book ‘Zero to 60' is getting a facelift, ‘Zero to 60 and Beyond' sharing new stories in ten new chapters. Quinn told Mike Hosking he was inspired to write down his life story by his grandfather. “My Grandfather, who was Irish, got involved in the IRA when he was a young fella, and he had a fantastic, interesting life,” he said. “And when he died, there was nothing written down. And so there was no official record, if you like, of his life.” Quinn's book started off as a personal project, a record for future generations as opposed to an official biography. “I was just gonna write my story so that the generations behind me could read all about why I did the things that I did, and that's how it started.” It wasn't until he found a freelance author to write his story out properly that the idea of publishing it came into being. “One thing led to another,” he said. ‘Zero to 60' became a number one best seller in New Zealand, flying off the shelves and going through several reprints, and after seven years, Quinn decided to revise it. “There has been so much happened in the last seven years." Episode 49: Improving the UK's Approach to Technology Development in Conversation with… RWE & LM Wind In the past couple of months, we have seen some big news in the UK offshore wind sector focused on our approach to the industrialisation of offshore wind technology. In April, we had the publication of the much anticipated Industrial Growth Plan for offshore wind, which sets out a pathway to grow the offshore wind supply chain to accelerate and de-risk delivery, as well as develop market share and technology leadership for the UK. Then just a few weeks ago, we were very proud to announce an £85.6m investment from our colleagues at UKRI to upgrade and expand our testing facilities at our National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth. This game-changing development will future proof the UK's capability to de-risk turbine technology and incentivise a strong UK presence across all areas of offshore renewable energy. The upgraded facilities will be able to test blades of up to 150m and drivetrains up to 23MW. And with that, the theme of this episode of the ReEnergise podcast is around unlocking the future of technology development and industrialisation in offshore wind. Our Director of Technology Development, Tony Quinn, was joined by Danielle Lane, RWE's Director of Development for UK and Ireland, and Andrew Bellamy, Managing Director at LM Wind Power UK. Discussions included: 1) How do we prioritise our objectives for offshore wind? 2) Have we underestimated the challenge of simultaneously scaling both the technology and production capacity? 3) Are we suffering the consequences of a disproportionate allocation of risk and is there a more equitable solution? 4) How do we take a more robust approach to technology confidence, gained through testing and validation and shared knowledge to enhance the whole industry? 5) How does the UK's approach stands up against other markets, and what are some of the lessons we can take?

It's the return of the big bangers! The Supercar circus is back in NZ, with two 200KM races set to tear around the pumice surrounded Taupo International Motorsport Park this weekend. The fans tears have all but dried up now, the mourning period for the old lady that was Pukekohe is well and truly over. There's a new kid in town, slap bang in the middle of the North Island ready to make its mark on the Aussie touring car series. The circuit, given more than a spit and polish by new owner and man behind the magnificent Highlands Park and Hampton Downs, Tony Quinn, is prepped and ready to shred the 24 strong grid. Tony Quinn has been a godsend for racecar enthusiasts here, a bloke who has been willing to pour his considerable wealth into the game up and down Aotearoa, a genuine fan and supporter of dare I say it, when you look at the proliferation of success stories behind the wheel globally, our national sport. Out the shadow of the death of NZs greatest motorsport philanthropist, Sir Colin Giltrap, Tony Quinn steps into the light. He should be celebrated; indeed, this weekend will be the party that he merits, hand in hand with the wake that Sir Colin deserves. The race weekend is something this country dearly needs, the district itself, is expecting an injection of tourist dollars somewhere in the vicinity of $6 million bucks on the back of 100,000 petrol-soaked tourists. The races themselves will be a treat as well, the Taupo circuit being a true test of the skills of the field. It's twisty AF, with varying surface conditions on a circuit new to most teams. The 5 Kiwi involved all have experience there, which gives them the upper hand, each character looking to fill the void left by van Gisbergen and McLaughlin. The weather looks to be wet and wild, another reason to give the locals a hand throughout the 400 km of racing. This is the dawning of a new era, based on what Quinn and his team have achieved, a long era at that. Locked in for 2 more years, one would like to think that this event will be the new pride and joy of not motorsports but NZ's international sporting calendar. That'll do.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We've had a good time with clubs and organizations, but there's also a limit to how much right-wing white guy bullshit a person can study before they have to switch back to studying not-necessarily right-wing bullshit. That's right folks, cults are back! The season 3 premiere pits a couple of obscure dipshits against each other, which is clearly shocking: Educo, a health cult from the shores of fair Ireland, and Zendik Farms, a badly structured attempt to arrange some Strange for a never-was beatnik.

How To Become a Ghostwriter Everyone Wants To Hire

Rob Tighe took some of the luck of his native land to New Zealand when he moved there some years ago.  From Ireland, Rob had written a magazine profile on New Zealand entrepreneur Tony Quinn. Rob emailed a copy of the profile to Tony, adding a PS acknowledging one of Tony's comments about eventually writing a book. The PS said: “I'd love to have a crack at that book one day if you're keen to chat about it.”   Tony was keen on more than just a chat, and hired Rob as his ghostwriter. Titled Zero to 60, Rob's first ghostwritten book became a bestseller!  The luck came with the PS. The rest of the little story above speaks volumes about Rob's talent as a ghostwriter, and the fact that he and Tony really got along and had a great working relationship.  Rob tells his story to host Josh Steimle in this latest episode of the Published Author Podcast. He also shares loads of secrets on how to be the best possible ghostwriter you can be, and how to seek out a ghostwriter  TOP TAKEAWAY: PUT YOURSELF IN THE SHOES OF A READER, AND KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS  Rob says telling Tony's story in Zero to 60 taught him almost everything he needed to know about being a successful ghostwriter. He acknowledges too that his background in journalism played a role in his success.  “The key was kind of taking Tony's thoughts and ideas and making them coherent. As with a piece of journalism, you've got to make sure that every sentence, every paragraph flows into the next one,” says Rob.  “An editor once told me: ‘Make sure you answer every possible question that the reader might have'. So that's what I tried to do.” , I tried not to get too bogged down in the enormity of the task. I tried to take each chapter on its own merits and do as good a job as I could of each chapter.”  The important thing is to never stop asking questions, to keep probing for details. “Sometimes that means asking the same question three or four times, and sometimes it means rephrasing the question a different way,” explains Rob. “I would often revisit the key pivotal, turning points in Tony's life three or four times throughout the process.  “Every time you'd ask a question, you'd get a slightly different answer that would add more nuance to the answer, more detail and colour.”  Despite Rob's training in journalism and skill as a writer, he sometimes wondered how the various strands of Tony's life would pull together as a narrative. “I tried not to get too bogged down in the enormity of the task. I tried to take each chapter on its own merits and do as good a job as I could of each chapter. I took each chapter on its own merits, writing it almost as a mini kind of feature article or profile.”  In particular , the final sprint to the finish line demanded intense focus. Says Rob: “I took myself off for two weeks and dedicated myself solely to the book. I didn't look at any other email, I didn't look at any other parts of my business. And I left my family for two weeks, they went off on holiday somewhere.  “I got a house and just spent two weeks working from 6 a.m. til 8 p.m., totally focused on that final edit process and making sure that each chapter was as good as it could be, he says, adding that if anyone wants to be a ghostwriter, there needs to be a couple of weeks of total concentration at the very end of a book, because this will “make or break your book.”  Other key learnings for ghostwriters and entrepreneurs hiring a ghostwriter include:  A book is very much a long game, and the client's  business can change. This means that the objective and purpose of a book can change.  Capturing your client's voice is essential. Rob transcribed every word and paid close attention to the way Tony talked and the phrases he used.  Ghostwriting a book is challenging for the writer and entrepreneur. Both must dig deeply into the subject's past, and some people find this difficult.  Storytelling is the most important tactic when it comes to ghostwriting. Sometimes a ghostwriter should work according to an outline, while at other times it's best to let a story evolve organically.  A good relationship between a ghostwriter and the entrepreneur is essential. You're both going to spend a lot of time together, and trust is essential because the entrepreneur is going to open up to the ghostwriter.  A ghostwriter needs to select projects carefully. For Rob, Tony's story stood out because of the story. “This guy building something in the middle of nowhere with his own money . . . It was a story that was too good to turn down. I didn't chase the book opportunity - I was open to it. And that's key -  just spotting those opportunities is a big part of it.”  If you're keen to improve as a ghostwriter, or you're an entrepreneur who wants to hire a ghostwriter, this episode is a must listen!  LINKS  LinkedIn  Twitter  Facebook    RobertTighe.com  Storybud  Zero To 60, by Tony Quinn, ghostwritten by Robert Tighe   SUBSCRIBE TO PUBLISHED AUTHOR PODCAST  If you enjoyed this episode, don't forget to subscribe. From Andy Robertson’s 'Now You’re Gonna Believe Us', to 'Greatest Games' by Jamie Carragher, and to Melissa Reddy’s 'Believe Us', if you’re looking for a Liverpool FC book for Christmas, or even to get you through this latest lockdown, then there’s plenty to choose from. And we’d just like to introduce you to another... it’s called 'Klopp: My Liverpool Romance', and it’s written by journalist, author and lifelong Red Tony Quinn. For 15 years Huyton-born Tony was the film critic for the Independent. He is also the author of six novels. But this book is his first dive into the world of sportswriting – and it is the first UK-written book about the man who has guided Liverpool back to the top of English, European and World football. It’s not a biography in the conventional sense, more an ode, as Tony jokes, to ‘the third person in his marriage’... Jurgen Klopp. And earlier this week Paul Wheelock had to chance to speak to Tony from his home in London, all about the book, and all about his beloved Liverpool FC.
