The all-female, 200% rock ‘n' roll juggernaut that is MAAM is back on The Pod of DC since being spotlighted as the very first interview guest back in 2020.To get things rolling, founding members St. P & YY turn the studio into an intimate, tiny desk-style concert with a soulful cover of Alabama Shakes' This Feeling—featuring an unexpected (and possibly hazardous) bongo cameo from Rick, who valiantly attempts not to ruin the rhythmic magic .From there, MAAM dives into some no-nonsense Q&A, covering everything from the power of self-awareness to knowing who's really in your corner—and, most importantly, the unapologetic force of bringing your art to the world. Somewhere in between, St. P also drops a casual plug for an HHS-approved health drink that has allegedly supercharged her creativity and performance skills (FDA confirmation pending). At the end of the day, MAAM is here to do two things: blow your mind sonically and call out every ounce of BS this world keeps hurling at women. And on this episode they do both effortlessly. For upcoming shows and more, head over to MAAM.rocks.

Sitting up seems like such an insignificant adjustment. It seems like something you're only doing physically, something you've been prompted to do,  something you've chosen to do. You only sit up 'down here' because you're rising 'up there'. As you eat your meals down here, feel in that moment that you're being fed up there. Spiritually sustained. What can you sustain at this time? Can you sustain this posture? This Feeling? Can you sustain Me? Be  Me in this place.  Be Me in the appearance of the next place, and in the appearance of the next moment. Knowing (t)here is no moment, (t)here is no place,(t)here is no now,(t)here is no here(T)here's only Me, And That includes ‘you'. I Love you, Nik nikki@curlynikki.com  “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the One who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is God's messenger will share a prophet's reward. And whoever welcomes a righteous person because he follows me will also share in his reward. The Feeling Sound Podcast

In Episode Nine of the second season of The Feeling Sound Podcast, we talk to Sheppo and Jonny ‘Echo” of the Liverpool-based band, Columbia. They are a band that is making big waves in 2023.   Formed in late 2017 by a group of school friends with no previous musical experience, Columbia are just one example of a new authentic ‘Liverpool Sound' coming out of the North West.  The band's obsession with being a proper old school, Rock ‘n' Roll band, is both stoked and driven by their working-class roots. They draw their musical inspiration from bands such as The Verve, Oasis, Rolling Stones, Stone Roses and The Beatles - Added to this, is a healthy helping of influence from the classic underground and techno dance scene, all culminating in an eclectic overall musical style, that isn't easy to pin down. Columbia has garnered an enthusiastic and loyal following so far, by playing live and releasing tracks at regular intervals.  Their collaborations in the Studio, with the incredibly talented Producer  (and 'The Heavy North' Guitarist), Jose Ibanez, have resulted in an impressive back catalogue of 'singles' so far.  The January release, 'Somewhere I Belong', with its haunting vocal by frontman Sheppo, was unanimously well received.   The band are being recognised at last, as an important part of the newly emerging Liverpool Music Scene, and are beginning to find their own unique tone and voice within that group of artists.  They continue to go from strength to strength, with a new single, ‘Memory Lane' in the final stages of production at Jose Ibanez's, 3rd Planet Recording Studio, in Liverpool.  They are also just about to set out on a mini UK Tour with This Feeling in May, starting in Swansea (4th May), Leeds (6th May), Birmingham (19th May) and finishing in Manchester (20thMay). Get along to see them play live if you can - It'll be well worth it. Frontman - Alex SheppoBass & Vocal's - Jonny EccleshallLead Guitar - Jay SweeneyRhythm Guitar - Tom ComerDrums - Jay Culkin

The Clause are a four-piece from Birmingham who bring together the swagger of the 60s, the rolling groove of the 80s and the riotous verve and attitude of the 90s.  Pearce Macca (front man), Niall Fennell (drummer) Jonny Fyffe (bassist) and Liam Deakin (guitarist) effortlessly combine huge hooks with gritty verses, indie sensibilities and rhythm and blues groove and melodies to create an altogether different beast. The music defies categorisation, rolling seamlessly from crashing percussion to huge, swinging bass. There are epic singalong choruses destined for stadiums and packed festival main stages, and darker, edgier moments evoking late night cruises down dingy back streets. The band have been together since they were kids and they have matured into one of the UK's most exciting new bands. They have hit the road throughout the autumn and winter of 2022 supporting The Reytons, on their sold-out nationwide tour, following main support slots for the Pigeon Detectives, DMAs, The Enemy and The Snuts. The band completed a 16 date solo national tour in March 2022 and then embarked on a series of gigs to finish the year with a seven date solo tour culminating in a sold out 1300 capacity home town gig in Brum at the O2 Institute in late December. The live work now continues with a tour of major cities in spring 2023 including London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester. The band have been featured, to date, on Radio 1, 6, X and XS as well as Soccer AM & Clashmusic.com. They were also honoured to play on Radio 1's Big Weekend last year. In 2022 they have released the single ‘Electric', which has been played across BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Radio Derby, BBC Radio Nottingham, Student Music Network and more, and they followed this with their summer release ‘Forever Young' in July. Previous to this, two singles have reached No1 in the iTunes rock chart and just outside the Top 20 on the main chart and they have been playlisted by Spotify on All New Rock, Deezer's Hot New Rock and YouTube's Your New Alternative Playlist. The last three singles have witnessed real growth with over 4 million streams and 65k monthly listeners. There are plans for a release in early 2023 with a high-profile collaboration in the offing later in the spring. Watch this space! The Clause have had extensive support across all media – Soccer AM, BT Sports, This Feeling, Gigslutz, Band of the Day on Maximum Volume Music and Scottish Music Network among many others, plus a cover feature in the Sunday Mail and two-page interview on the Daily Record. They have also recently been awarded the BMA ‘Best Band' for the second year running, as well as ‘Best Indie and Alternative' act. #NewMusic #Interviews #Stories #SocialMedia

THE DEAD FREIGHTS out of Southhampton, UK are on the show to introduce the band and discuss their releases “Fever and The Thunder” and “Suffering Safari”. This is a fun episode. The band reminds me of The Beatles in sound, attitude & character. You will enjoy the banter between the band & me. ~ Shay Band members Charlie & Louis (Louie) join us Band Press Release: Southampton quartet and local legends The Dead Freights announce their new single ‘Fever & The Thunder'. Recorded at Mi7 Studios with Daisy Palmer (Feverist, Paloma Faith) and mixed by Josh Ager (Beabadobee) with help from Pete Robertson (The Vaccines), the single comes straight after their previous single ‘Stray Dogs' which has received lots of radio support, media coverage and a Louder Than War premiere. The track combines disco beats and tasteful guitar techniques with a gritty production highlighting the band's signature, grubby sound. With frontman Charlie James emphasizing that “the lyrics act as a stream of consciousness”, the band aim to combine elements of disco (Fever) and traditional rock ‘n' roll (Thunder) whilst providing a catchy melody at the same time. “It's us running with the grunge disco thing. ‘Fever & The Thunder' is like a sleazy house-party with a constant groove.” Charlie James states. “'Fever & The Thunder' goes to the grungiest Disco places we have ever been,” Drummer Louis Duarte begins. “'Fever' could easily be a doth of the cap to Night Fever and my four to the floor (ish) beat in the chorus, like it or not, is definitely inspired by John Travolta's hips. But what if things get too metronomic? Well, we're no slaves to the grid baby! We stretch time in the final stages of this, just before the gut punch of an ending… I guess that's where the ‘Thunder' comes in' The band sold out two shows at Southampton's iconic venue The Stage Door and ‘Fever & The Thunder' is second in an exciting string of four releases. Next on the release agenda is "Batman". After recording a live video at Abbey Road Studios in the infamous Studio 2 (following in the footsteps of the band's biggest influence, The Beatles), The Dead Freights have headlined a This Feeling headline tour all over the U.K. which saw most nights sold out- including an unforgettable Nambucca show that sold out in record time. The band are kicking out hard with a string of new singles, show announcements and even managing to bag themselves a festival slot this year (despite that proving near-on impossible). With social distance measures in places, it is going to prove even harder to keep your hands off The Dead Freights. With good looks, charisma and bags of charm, they are a train that can't be stopped. Most often, our hope is naïve and optimistic, and we're wishing for a successful outcome. On this Palm Sunday, Jonathan Williams shares that's not really what hope is -- it's what comes when all else fails. The hope that comes when all else feels hopeless -- apocalyptic hope -- shows that the apocalypse isn't an ending, it's a revelation. What can feel like failure or pain can actually be the beginning of hope. This is the sixth and final sermon in our “This Feeling's Got Me Like...” series.

The opposite of fear is saying yes to living fully. The future is unknown. That scares the crap out of us. What do we do in the face of the unknown? Jonathan Williams shares that the way forward is not fear, it's faith. Faith is a choice to take action and move forward even when there is nothing guaranteed. To make the conscious choice to believe just for today that the great I AM is at work in our fears and in our unknowns. The opposite of fear is saying yes to being made in the image of God, of living fully alive, warts and all. This is the fifth and final sermon in our “This Feeling's Got Me Like...” series.

Lonely in the wilderness. The pandemic of loneliness existed long before COVID-19, and being lonely can make us feel like we're lost in the wilderness. In this Sunday's message, guest preacher and former Forefront Brooklyn associate pastor Jennifer Fisher of Launchpad Partners tells us that the wilderness can be the place where we come to know God the strongest, and can actually be a place of hope for us to grow deeper in relationship with God, each other, and creation. This is the fourth sermon in our “This Feeling's Got Me Like...” series. Launchpad Partners is committed to impacting the world through launching new, inclusive faith communities. Born out of the W/ Collective network of churches, they offer networking opportunities and events with fellow leaders, one-on-one coaching for faith entrepreneurs, and a content library of resources for those launching in a progressive, inclusive context.

In this sermon, Jonathan Williams shows us that our anger is not a spiritual weakness or failure, but rather something we can employ to help create positive change. These days we're all about optimization, self-hacking, and efficiency. We feel enslaved to our to-do lists. How do we resist some of these values? In this sermon, Sarah Ngu examines the value of productivity in our workaholic society. It all began with industrial capitalism, which led to the “machinization” of the human body. But the Christian tradition starts from a very different place. Our faith begins from the premise that human beings are not machines created for labor, but that we are created to receive. #13: Bronagh Gallagher talks about her album ‘Gather Your Greatness'

Since then her music has alternated with film roles (Pulp Fiction, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Sherlock Holmes) plus theatre work (War Horse, The Street Of Crocodiles) and TV drama (Pramface, The Street, You Me And the Apocalypse). However she maintains a special place for singing, writing and performing music. Bronagh has recently released her 3rd album of new material called Gather Your Greatness and joins Mark Millar to talk all about it. This weeks featured track is ‘Lost And Found' from Birmingham's Glenn Smyth. The track is from his forthcoming EP ‘A Sense Of Freedom'. Mixed by Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve) and produced by Dave McCabe, ‘Lost And Found' is the follow up to ‘Dead To The World' and ‘What Have I Done To Deserve This?', which received support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, This Feeling and XS Noize. After a youth spent playing football for Derby County, a near career ending fractured fibula and tibia meant Glenn had time on his hands. This resulted in him picking up the guitar for the first time and his journey into music began. After a few brushes with the law as a misguided teenager, the guitar was picked up again, but this time a love of songwriting was born, specifically writing gritty songs that are somewhat lacking in today's world of beige. Two cult Birmingham bands in Escobar and Evil Alien followed which bought parallel levels of success in two very different worlds. Escobar – an up tempo rock n roll band in the mold of Oasis and The La's, and Evil Alien – soundscapes, beeps and synths influenced by the likes of Cabaret Voltaire and Depeche Mode, championed by Zane Lowe, BBC Radio 1 and Q Magazine.
