Premier League debuts don't come much better than Tijjani Reijnders for Man City on the opening weekend... A player who arrived in England without the fanfare of a Gyokeres or a Wirtz - and looked like he'd been running Pep's midfield for years...Former Premier League footballer Stephen Warnock and Andy Brassell, host of European football podcast 'On The Continent', join Gabby & Mark to explore the story behind what's been described as an 'all-time Premier League debut' and examine the expectations we pile on new arrivals. Are European players now being developed in order to be sold to Premier League clubs for a big profit and adapt to the demands of English football quicker? Are we all guilty of overlooking Pep's serial winners after their struggles last season? Plus, Chappers' optimism despite Man United's defeat to Arsenal, how long Scheffler would need to remain World no.1 in order to match Tiger's record, Rugby World Cup excitement and an outside shout for who Newcastle should look to replace Isak with!

The Premier League is back – and so are the Swiss Ballers. In this week's episode Fabo is joined by Dwayne and Arman on the line to break down a wild opening weekend full of goals, drama, and early narratives already shaping the season. We kick things off with the big clash at Old Trafford, where Arsenal left with all three points and Manchester United fans were left scratching their heads. Was this a statement win for the Gunners? not really...From there it's straight to Anfield, where Liverpool got off the mark with an unconvincing win over Bournemouth. Exciting in attack but still shaky at the back, we take a closer look at Jeremie Frimpong's fit in a back four and what the new era on Merseyside might look like.Manchester City then reminded everyone why they're still the benchmark – Haaland lethal, Tijjani Reijnders already slotting into midfield like he's been there for years. Is Pep's machine back in cruise control? Finally, we talk the feel-good stories: Sunderland announcing their Premier League return with a thumping win, and Spurs kicking off life under Thomas Frank with a Richarlison brace. After a dour 0-0 draw at Southampton and ahead of a third successive FA Cup Final appearance, David Mooney is joined by City fan Ally Fogg and, from StatCity.co.uk, Adam Carter. They discuss the bore draw on the south coast and look at Ruben Dias's comments after the game: Fair enough or should he keep quiet with those grumbles? Crystal Palace fan Robbie Scotcher joins the show to give insight into the feeling at Selhurst Park ahead of the trip to Wembley. Plus, there's the match with Bournemouth... where City might be needing to play catch-up in the race to finish in the top five. That Bournemouth game is likely to be the final time that Kevin De Bruyne pulls on a blue shirt for a competitive game at The Etihad, so we're taking some time to look at his legacy at the club before what will be one of the toughest goodbyes ever said to a departing player. On top of that, there's been some transfer rumours bouncing around the mill this week, so we have a look at what's been said about Florian Wirtz, Tijjani Reijnders, Morgan Gibbs-White and Tino Livramento. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Tijjani Reijnders was zo iemand.
