In this episode Mike, Rich and Steve take on six new releases; as usual, click the link to check out the trailer for each film! We kick off with INTO THE DEEP (Signature Entertainment), the latest DTV shark movie. Christian Sesma directs, Chad Law wrote the script and Richard Dreyfus makes an appearance! In SUNRAY: FALLEN SOLDIER (Vertigo Releasing), a grizzled ex soldier gets his unit back together to go hunt the drug gang responsible for the death of this daughter. You may not have heard of this but we advise you do not miss it! RIPPY (Altitude) is an Australian creature feature featuring a mutant/zombie kangaroo! We recommend checking out the original short film its based on: WATERBORNE! We follow this with reviews for ELITE FORCE: B.R.I. (101 Film) and MR-9: DO OR DIE (Plaion Pictures). One is an ultra low budget action film, the other seems to have ten times the budget. We debate which is the poorer and which should be commended! Lastly is BLACKWATER LANE (Plaion Pictures), a suspenseful thriller in which a woman suspects she's a killer's next target! Our Short Shot is QUEEN OF HEARTS, a western confrontation in a saloon - click the link to watch the whole 9min short! Our DTV Throwback is AVENGING FORCE - a Cannon Film, starring Michael Dudikoff and Steve James - do we need to say more?? You can find this on Amazon Prime, as well as other platforms. On this episode, host Helen Brohl speaks with Katherine Chambers, Physical Research Scientist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory. Climate scientists often summarize projected trends with the statement, “wet places will get wetter and dry places will get drier.” These changes are likely to have both positive and negative effects on water-based transportation along rivers, in lakes, and in the oceans. [Toolkit.climate.gov]. The Great Lakes is no exception. While climate impact factors may differ between regions, the methodologies for understanding the ability to prepare for, recover from, and adapt to the symptoms of a changing climate are consistent. Katherine Chambers walks us through the probable impacts to waterborne transportation and how the industry in cooperation with communities, can develop strategies to address them.

Whether it's flowing out of your kitchen faucet or along a creek near your campground, we expect our water to be safe. But sometimes our water can make us sick. Waterborne diseases are a growing problem as Minnesota's climate warms. And we're only now beginning to understand the health consequences of “forever chemicals” called PFAS that have seeped into our waterways. MPR News host Angela Davis talks with a state epidemiologist about how you can avoid getting sick from swimming in lakes or pools. And a public health professor explains his research into human-made chemicals in the water supply. Guests: Trisha Robinson is an epidemiologist and the supervisor of the Waterborne Disease Unit with the Minnesota Department of Health. Matt Simcik is a professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on how and why organic pollutants end up in the atmosphere and water.
