Welcome Back B-oo's Crew! This we week we take on the sensitive topic of Aokigahara, Japans suicide forest also known as "The Black Sea Of Trees!" Located in Honshu Japan, this location has signs of human life as far back as 35,000 years ago with some speculating even farther back than that. It was also the main target of the Doolittle air raid, destroying 10,000 acres and leaving more than one million people homeless. The forest located at the base of Mt. Fuji has become a popular suicide destination seemingly do to a popular Japanese book calling it, "The best place to die!" The issue has gotten so bad that the Japanese government has had to be creative in how they combat the unfortunate occurrences here. With a horrific 18 out of 100,000 suicide rate and, finding 30 to 100 bodies here a year, its clear how this place could be haunted! Ge ready B-oo's crew...this one will change your views on a nice forest walk!Do you have a story you'd like read or played on the show? I'll never forget the first time I heard a ghost story that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It was a tale not unlike Midori's, filled with betrayal, revenge, and the supernatural. Our latest episode whispers the chilling legend into your ears, taking you through the shadowy ruins of a love that spiraled into darkness. We explore the tragic story of Midori, the forsaken wife of a samurai whose discovery of his betrayal ignites a horrifying chain of events. Her spirit, now a vengeful yurei, remains shackled to the remnants of her past, her very presence a harbinger of doom. You'll walk alongside Daichi, a young man mesmerized by the occult, who unexpectedly finds himself face-to-face with Midori's ghost, embroiling him—and everyone around him—in her relentless thirst for retribution. But among the whispers of the past and the echoes of sorrow, there's a glimmer of hope.Join us as we recount Daichi's courageous venture into the unknown to pacify the turbulent soul of Midori. Through rituals steeped in ancient wisdom and the silent power of empathy, he embarks on a journey to offer respite to the vengeful spirit. Feel the weight of the night lift as sacred prayers and the scent of incense mark the transformation of a once tormented phantom into a being of tranquility. Experience the poignant moment of release as Midori acknowledges his endeavors, closing the chapter of her haunting and granting peace to the living and the dead. This tale is not just a ghost story—it's a testament to the enduring human spirit and its capacity to heal the deepest of wounds.

In this episode, we'll delve into the mystery of Aokigahara, known in Japanese as the Sea of Trees—and to the rest of the world as the Suicide Forest. After the Golden Gate Bridge, it is the second most popular suicide destination in the world. The forest is over a thousand years old. It grew over lava floes laid down in a devastating volcanic eruption on the slopes of Mt. Fuji, a holy mountain believed to be a gateway to the spirit world. Perhaps this is why it's said to be the birthplace of the Yurei—a ghost in Japanese folklore created out of deep trauma. It's no wonder Aokigahara is associated with death. But the forest is also filled with life and incredible natural wonders. Join us as we explore the haunting history and folklore of Aokigahara. Back in the early 80s, a series of unexplained incidents in a medical laboratory led to the discovery of a phenomenon called the Fear Frequency—an inaudible vibration that can cause people to sense and even see things that aren't there. Is it possible that infrasound frequencies may be responsible for at least some reports of paranormal activity? Podcast hosts Vince and Jane ponder this and other spooky subjects, including the supernatural entities of Japanese folklore, mystery spots where cars roll uphill, and the Satanic panic that gripped the nation forty years ago. Also, the Ghostkeepers pop into the Castle of Spirits library to share two true ghost stories: “Road Rage,” an account of driver who witnesses a phantom car crash on a winding road just outside Pittsburgh; and “Ghosts of Okinawa,” a chilling tale plucked from the brand-new October 2022 story submissions.Links:Ghosts of Okinawa (story)Road Rage (story)Rokurokubi (article)Netflix's Japanese Tales of the Macabre (article)Some "Ghosts" May Be Sound Waves Just Below Human Hearing (article)The Fear Frequency (article)Enter the AtticVisit the LoungeVisit the award-winning Glass Spider Publishing to get your book into the hands of readers worldwide. www.glassspiderpublishing.comDiscover 4,600+ true ghost stories in the Castle of Spirits Librarywww.castleofspirits.com/ghost-storiesSubmit your own true paranormal storywww.castleofspirits.com/submit OR call 801-436-7838.Watch us on YouTube and follow us on Instagram and Facebook @castleofspiritsTheme Music: "Lightless Dawn" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Few places live up to their reputation like Aokigahara, known in the West as Japan's ‘Suicide Forest'. Dense woodland, purported magnetic interference and tales of ghostly Yurei make navigating the forest difficult – but finding a secluded place to contemplate your existence is all too easy. Every year, dozens of people travel to Aokigahara to take their lives. But why? This week, we discuss the dark Japanese folklore and sinister realities behind one of the world's most tragically disturbing places…

Joey Madia joins the show to talk about the Japanese Paranormal culture.Yūrei (幽霊) are figures in Japanese folklore analogous to the Western model of ghosts. The name consists of two kanji, 幽 (yū), meaning "faint" or "dim" and 霊 (rei), meaning "soul" or "spirit". Alternative names include 亡霊 (Bōrei), meaning ruined or departed spirit, 死霊 (Shiryō) meaning dead spirit, or the more encompassing 妖怪 (Yōkai) or お化け (Obake). Oni (demons) and yurei (ghosts) have played a role in Japanese culture for thousands of years, and stories of new spirits continue to be told today. Aokigahara (青木ヶ原, 'Blue Tree Meadow'), also known as the Sea of Trees (樹海, Jukai), is a forest on the northwestern flank of Mount Fuji. Parts of Aokigahara are very dense, and the porous lava rock absorbs sound, contributing to a sense of solitude that some visitors attribute to the forest.Support the show (http://Patreon.com/3beardspodcast )

Do you believe in curses? Best beware, as this week we're learning about the three progenitors of modern J-horror: Oiwa, Okiku and Otsuyu. Were these ghostly ladies in the right? Yes, absolutely. What was happening in Edo Japan that summoned all these spooky stories? What does hair, blood, and water have to do with monstrous women? And was Slimer a person before he died? Also, who is the mysterious third voice in this recording? (Hint: she's pretty darn cool). Thank you to Hashimoto-Sensei, Katsu-Sensei & Masae-Sensei for their insights and advice this week. Find us at lesfemmesdangereuse@gmail.com and @lesfemmespod on twitter.
In this first part of the faction overviews, we give a brief overview on the play style of Savage Wave, The Descension, Jung Pirates, Cult of Yurei and the Ito Clan.

Resting in Mount Fuji's shadow is the Aokigahara Forest, the world's second most popular suicide location. Called “the perfect place to die,” the Aokigahara forest in Japan has the unfortunate distinction of being the world's second most popular place to die by suicide. Since the 1950s, Japanese men, women and teenagers have wandered in, and so many of them haven't come out that the Japanese government has stopped releasing the data. Second in suicides behind only the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Aokigahara Forest is a beautiful but deadly place that is said to be haunted with demons and the tortured souls of those who have taken their lives there.
