Jennifer has over 25 years of experience in the field of individuals with special needs in various capacities. She's a coach, a teacher, and an early intervention respite consultant to families and to preschools. The best experience that Jennifer has had has been with her sister Nancy. Nancy has brain damage and has been grooming Jennifer to be a BCBA since they were kids. Having this experience has helped Jennifer to understand family pressures and frustrations and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to interview Jennifer and share some of her incredible story. The tools her techniques that she uses to help families are not only innovative, but they also work!!! Connect with Jennifer on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jcarmelcomeau where she shares fun videos with Nancy, amazing tools and tips and information on upcoming free masterclasses. #77 ~ ~ Simply Said: Conversations on Business, Life and Living

Well, hello, followers and new followers. I believe in taking intuitive actions when having an intuitive thought. And lately, I've been having an intuitive thought about bringing back the Alaska Tracy podcast. I created the podcast and had it going for five years. And then I hit pause on it. Intuitively, topics have been coming to mind over and over and over, as I'm out walking, as I'm growing my business as I'm working with clients. And so I thought because I don't do anything perfectly in business, not sure why I thought a podcast would be any different. So, here you go - perfectly unscripted or unedited, and no intro! The goal is to give you tips and tools, and inspiration in business and life that you can use, imperfectly. And so I'm Tracy Roesch, Williams, Executive, business coach, and consultant. And I'm coming to you today to bring you tools and tips that you can use. And maybe some of these tips and tools and inspiration will help you to skip some of the mistakes that I've made, and that clients have made, and help you to propel forward quicker. My imperfect tip for today is about building relationships. Years and years ago, 23 years ago, when I created with the help of many people helping me my very first business, that business grew and succeeded based on relationships. Relationships that were nurtured over time. See people work with people that they trust. And people refer people to people that they trust. And trust takes time. I know we all see people online on social media growing followings and growing six-figure businesses overnight. And I'm here to tell you, that has not been my experience or the experience of the people that I get to work with. The ones that grow successful businesses, including me, take time and commitment. And that builds trust. The last several clients that I've had the opportunity to work with, have come to me over the years of watching what I've been doing on social media, and in the community. Now, every once in a while I do get a random client that finds me on social media, and we have a conversation and they end up working with me. Forsure that happens. Most of the time, the people that connect with me and the people that I work with get to know and trust me first. How are you creating trust in your life today to attract people that want to work with you?  I would love to know how you're doing it. Or if you need help building real relationships that lead to clients. I had a potential client conversation recently thinking that social media was where their business would grow. And he said to me, "I hate social media." And I looked him in the eyes and I said, Whoever told you that you had to use social media to grow your business? And then we brainstormed opportunities in his community for how he could get to know people to create relationships to create trust. How are you creating trust today in your life, that is my tip for the day on the Alaska Tracy Podcast. I love that Tabatha was born and raised in Alaska, has lived in 4 different states, and has moved 22+ times! She was either working, going to school, pregnant or being a stay-at-home mom. She loves structure and order and is aware that God has gifted her many life opportunities to grow her flexibility and patience. What a journey Tabatha has had through her years of empowering others to show up as their truest self. She has helped dreamers from all walks of life: successful business owners, teen moms, those experiencing homelessness, prisoners, as well as her neighbors down the street.  Tabatha loves being kept on her toes and she continues to appreciate people for who they are and the unique experiences they each have. Tabatha believes everyone has a story and value. Everyone. And wants THEM to see that, too.  Tabatha feels the same as you and me! She has thrived and also gotten caught up in life and just lived on autopilot. She has set goals, achieved many, and didn't get close to many more. Tabatha has worked hard for what she believes in and sometimes didn't see the results she expected. She's made sacrifices she never thought possible to make her wildest visions come true. And those accomplishments came from faith and realizing every great goal starts at a gateway; every purpose needs a path; and every overachiever must strategize, organize, and optimize! Wrapping up 2021 by bringing you tips and tools for hope in the upcoming year or wherever you may be today. 23 years ago an opportunity opened for me to begin living a life beyond my wildest dreams. Today, I get to share these practices with hundreds of business owners and individuals looking to transform and grow. This is the absolute highlight of my life! The tricky part is consistency.  See if you're anything like me your mind will start to tell you that you're doing great and you can step away from the practices that have helped you to feel and live a great life. Especially when the going gets good. It is the consistent practice of meditation, prayer, focusing on what you want and what you believe in that will continue to enrich, enhance, heal, and transform your life.  Can you relate to catching yourself looking for the quick fix? For whatever you are wanting to accomplish? It creeps up slowly for me.  I start to think that I don't need to do certain things to grow my business ie; network. Or I don't need to do certain things to stay healthy, ie; get outside daily and move. Or that I can let my meditation slide a day or two. I even start believing that I don't have to get on my knees daily to pray. One of the amazing teachers in my life this year was Amy Gernatt. You can listen to how she worked with me and works with others to reprogram your inner and outer self in this episode: #64 -  Valiant Vitality - Reprogramming your Inner & Outer Self with Amy Gernaat Another teacher in my life this year was registered dietitian Haley Hughes. She introduced me to the book Intuitive Eating which allows the practice of eating what you want and stopping when you're full. What a concept. This book and Haley have allowed me to throw out my scale, give myself grace, and practice intuitively eating after a lifetime of battling bulimia and body issues. May this episode bring you hope and enlightenment. Please feel free to share with your friends subscribe and leave a review if you like this episode. Have you ever looked for a new car? Let's say, it's a blue 4Runner. Maybe you do some online research and ask your friends about them.  Then all of a sudden you notice blue 4Runners everywhere. Are there more 4Runners out there or are you noticing them because you are focusing on them? Some people hear the words, manifest your desires, and think of waving a magic wand and getting whatever it is you desire.  I used to question why sitting around thinking about things or willing them to happen never worked. I would think, think, think and do nothing and wonder why other's seemed to be reaching or exceeding their dreams and mine didn't seem to be coming true.  Some people may have that gift of manifesting like described however, this is not my experience. My experience with manifesting is it takes a whole lot of faith, work, desire, and letting go! Manifesting can take days, months, years of commitment, and practice. Manifesting isn't for the super-powered! It is for people with a strong desire to do the work necessary to achieve their goals and dreams. It can take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears along the way! It can also be the most beautiful thing you have ever experienced! This Alaska Tracy Podcast Episode is about a recent manifestation in my life that has come to fruition.  Disclaimer; it didn't happen overnight but over years. #67 ~ Change Your Handwriting Heal Your Life with Misty Cogdill

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 14, 2021 23:49

In this Alaska Tracy Podcast episode, I sit down with Misty Cogdill who is the founder and CEO of the Handwriting Soul Academy. As the number 1 best-selling author of the book “You Can Heal Your Life with Handwriting”, Misty has been studying the benefits of handwriting for over a decade. Misty works with business owners, network marketers, entrepreneurs, coaches, speakers, and service professionals, or anyone who wants to increase their business and reach their goals. Using hypnosis through handwriting and the power of questions, Misty is able to extract her client's full potential. Prior to getting married, Misty had always wanted to teach others the importance of handwriting and help them change their handwriting techniques. Her mother had always wanted to change her handwriting, even when Misty was a little girl. Misty noticed this desire and began questioning the significance of handwriting and became fascinated with the relationship between handwriting and what it tells us about one's inner self. Misty explains that when you're looking at handwriting in general, big and bubbly handwriting is an expression from the heart. Tiny and pointy handwriting is an expression of intellect. Handwriting is a graphic representation of our subconscious thought patterns and a map on paper of how we think internally. After getting married, Misty felt this shift after changing her name. Your name is your identity and when you write it down or sign your name, you're telling the universe that this is who you are. Gradually you become what you write down and you become reflected in your style of handwriting. When you get married, you take on a new name, with a new signature, and a new persona. Misty explains that when you shift the way you write, you shift your blockages. Making small adjustments with your handwriting can help you heal, grow and shift negative obstacles. Reflecting on her own life and experiences, Misty was bubbly, extroverted, and had a huge passion for life. During her marriage, she became a new version of herself; someone with less energy, less drive, and was becoming more of an introvert. Misty questioned all of this, and could not figure out answers to where her old self had disappeared to. After 6 years of marriage, Misty got divorced and reclaimed her maiden name back. Of course, this came with the return of her old signature, and gradually, her old self. Within less than a year, Misty was on the path to becoming her familiar, bubbly self that she missed tremendously. Moving on to work in real estate, Misty was able to see a plethora of signatures from various different clients when signing for homes. She used this as her own classroom for understating and analyzing people's signatures and handwriting. Misty learned that certain letters of the alphabet can tell a lot about your personality. When we fall in love, get divorced, or survive a serious illness, we dramatically alter our concept of life. As a result of this, our handwriting changes. Changing the way letters are written can help us on our journey of self-development and changes within our lives and Misty has dedicated her life to experimenting and fact-finding these techniques. Misty re-enforces this powerful message by going on to explain that changing your handwriting can help you get rid of old habits and limitations. These limitations can hold you back from the thing that you truly desire in life and Misty has now created a method of empowering people to clear these generational patterns. By shifting your handwriting, your old patterns are deconstructed and you let go of familiar patterns that may hold you back. Unlike other coaches, Misty is able to develop specific coaching to help you reach your goals by analyzing personality traits and blocks found in your handwriting. Misty offers incredible coaching packages that inspire others to learn handwriting patterns that mirror their best traits, bringing their soul's true potential to the surface. Misty's number one best-selling book “You Can Heal Yourself with Handwriting” can be found on Amazon and you can also reach out via her Handwriting Soul Academy website. The Handwriting Soul Academy is on all social media platforms and there is a public Facebook group where Misty goes live twice a week. #66 ~ Speak Fearlessly with Carissa Karner

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 24, 2021 32:48

In this episode, I sit down and talk with Carissa Karner, an extraordinary, powerful speaker and coach based in California. Carissa helps purpose-driven professionals and entrepreneurs learn techniques on how to speak with authority, lead with their hearts and touch lives with their powerful messages.  As a certified Clinic-CoachÆ, a licensed psychotherapist, an actress with a plethora of experience on stage, a TEDx presenter and on the way to becoming a certified world-class speaking coach, she draws together a supply of tools that help you gain confidence when speaking in public.  Growing up in the mountains of Yosemite, Carissa was always a shy child. A self-confessed scared little girl, Carissa spent a lifetime hiding in fear of not being able to use her own voice or to be seen amongst the crowd. Excelling at dodgeball, Carissa was able to wear a “cloak of invisibility” to hide from whoever had the ball. This metaphoric situation was actually a representation of her childhood; always hiding from her true self. In 6th grade, Carissa found a passion for acting where she was able to be silly, bigger and louder. This was the first step in her realization that she was destined for a career on the stage and with an amazing teacher and family behind her for support, she was able to go on to pursue an acting degree.  Carissa carried this feeling of self-repression even into her acting career with a sense that she was using acting to ‘hide' behind a character, using someone else' words. Was she ever really being her true self or was this career another way of hiding behind something? Realizing that she may not be alone with this, Carissa knew that famous actors, professionals and entrepreneurs (whilst good at what they do) also possess feelings of fear and judgement. The fear of unearthing imperfections or being judged for not having it all together prompted Carissa to pursue a graduate degree in psychotherapy with the aim of helping others to speak fearlessly as themselves.  This shift towards a career in psychotherapy allowed Carissa to help those who may suffer from issues that hold them back in life such as imposter syndrome or stage fright. Drawing upon her childhood and early adult experiences, she knew that when you confidently use your voice anywhere it opens doors to be successful everywhere. By knowing what to say and how to say it effectively, Carissa can guide individuals to create mic dropping speeches that entice audiences but also perfectly showcase the best version of YOU.  Being on the other side of this ‘lack of self-confidence' feeling has provided Carissa with the tools to help you feel calm, confident and prepared to use your voice in any situation. Feeling comfortable and confident when speaking will not only help drive your business, sales or personal growth but it will also produce visibility and self-assurance. Carissa knew that one-on-one therapy was still masking her true personal growth and it was another method of not being seen whilst listening to others speak instead. This safe behaviour was another guard that obstructed her ability to let her own voice be heard loud and clear.  After being invited to speak at a TEDx talk titled “The art of being your own best friend”, Carissa knew that this experience would prompt a shift in her own personal development. Guided by her own therapy, coaching and learning, Carissa learned how to accept her imperfections and embraced being human. After experiencing her TED talk, she started to think about moving beyond 1-2-1 therapy and onto the subject of helping others in a different way. Of course, that old faithful imposter syndrome made it hard for her to accept this shift at first, but over time Carissa knew that she had the skills and was worthy enough to help people with public speaking whilst boosting their confidence.  With the intention of touching people's hearts and changing people's lives, Carissa weaves all parts of her journey into helping others overcome fears and anxieties that surround speaking in public. Today I had the opportunity to interview my (little) brother Gregg Roesch, co-owner of GT Supplies. My brothers and both their wives are business owners and I thought it would be a good inspirational story to share how Gregg and Todd (my older brother) created a business starting 23 years ago by painting dumpsters. Their business, GT Supplies has grown to a company of 36 employees with many different services within the company.  Refurbishing dumpsters being the largest service offered.   The reason I wanted to interview Gregg was to hear how Gregg and Todd took a small idea and created a large corporation. They sought out opportunities in their community to fulfill the community's needs. Starting out in business or looking to create a business, we often get wrapped up in the 'romance' of business thinking we have to be passionate about what we are doing from our core. Passion is great and if there is not a need for your passion, you have no business.  Finding and fulfilling a need can open the doors to opportunities and allow you to live a lifestyle spent enjoying your passions. In Gregg's situation, his family!  As an essential service, GT Supplies hasn't missed a day. They continue to reorganizing and communicate in different ways to keep the company growing under all situations. Structure, safety, organization, communication, and stability have been and are the key to longevity with employees and clients.   Gregg says there are always opportunities if you look for them. That being said it is important to stay mindful of the company's mission. It is easy to say yes to so many opportunities and start to lose focus. Saying no is an option and regrouping to define what is best for the company long term is an important part of growth.  Thank you for listening and subscribing! Linda Roberts is a lifelong animal lover, and passionate about all animal's emotional and physical well-being. Linda was a school teacher with three degrees when life's obstacles challenged her to tap into her heart. She was moved to connect to power outside of herself through meditation. She self-taught herself how to meditate and was guided to Shamanism, Reiki, and Animal Communication. Linda's successful journey began 11 years ago when healing her own health and spiritual issues. Linda learned to heal by opening up her throat and heart chakras. This was life-changing.  Linda teaches healing powers through meditation and Reiki and uses these healing practices on animals as well.  Linda was reluctant to tap into her animal communication abilities until she had no other choice. Linda's horse, Howie helped her focus on this natural ability, called, animal communication.  How?  Well, he had digestive issues, referred to as colic. Colic can be life-threatening to horses so Linda wanted to make him feel better.  Over a two year period, he experienced 10 different colic episodes, each one was very upsetting.  Because of the love, Linda has for him, she promised to do anything for him.  He was hospitalized, treated by vets, all with no real result.  It wasn't until Linda started communicating with him, that she found out how to help him.Ten years later, Howie is doing fantastic with no health issues at the age of 22.Linda attributes animal communication with saving his life, and hers.  Connect with Linda for Shamanism/Reiki and or Animal Communication at https://www.thewhispersoflove.com/ Thank you for listening to this episode, subscribing, and sharing! Acupuncturist, Brian Yelverton has been helping me to walk through some anxiety issues. This is my first time doing acupuncture and now I am a firm believer in it! In the previous Podcast Episode, #51 I share my terrifying experience and walk through anxiety. It is within this process of overcoming the anxiety that I started working with Brian. Brian shares his story of how he became an acupuncturist to heal an injury he had and how he helps people to live their best lives.  Brian shares a few tools that may help you if you are struggling with pain in your mind and or body.  When I asked Brian to define success, he said, "success is about showing up each day and giving too in a positive uplifting way. It is about finding the common ground with others and sharing love".  We all have the power within us to create a positive gentle mindset that allows us to walk through any obstacle life throws our way.  Acupuncture is a wonderful way to ignite, restore, grow, and change our lives. Fear can actually propel us to live a life beyond our wildest dreams if we are willing to embrace the fear.  This episode is all about one of the most fearful events that happened to me five months ago.  This event terrified me and evoked tons of health issues.  I felt like I was dying as I had never experienced anxiety in my life.  I did not even believe in anxiety before this happened. First, I share about creating a structure with this Podcast and I invite you to listen in to some other episodes to hear guests share wonderful tips and tools to help calm your soul. These guests appeared because of this experience I had. They are a gift. After many many tests, blood work, doctors, and other modalities to 'fix' myself, I found help. With this help has come new freedom and happiness.  The biggest aha was all the fear that was bottled up inside of my soul.  Finding freedom from this fear has been an incredible journey and a gift from God. My experience has been that pain often has to be so bad in order for me to have the willingness to change. Once I surrendered, people started appearing to help me.  Dawn Pensack was the first to help me with EFT / Tapping.  This led me to acupuncture and more surrender. I feel so grateful now to have had this amazing experience and all the new teachers in my life and especially the closer connection to God. I had no idea at the time of our meeting how instrumental Tandy would become in all areas of my life. The very first thing I learned from her was how to trust another and ask for help. Tandy guided me with Grace to take actions that would lead me to leave a career-making oodles of money to start my first business. I was single and had just purchased my very first home at the time. Trust, work, and love helped me take this leap of faith into the world of entrepreneurship 20+ years ago. Tandy has been instrumental in all of the businesses and in my life throughout the years.  Her story is one of service to others, meditation, prayer, and allowing the Universe, God, whomever Power outside of yourself you choose to believe in to guide and direct all decisions. This trust often allows one to end up in an area you never would have even considered going with amazing miracles. As a former, stressed-out teacher, Dawn left the classroom to figure out how to heal after burnout and a few mysterious illnesses.  Finding EFT/Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) was the catalyst for her healing and after finding health and peace again, Dawn became trained and certified and is on a mission to bring EFT to as many people as possible. Dawn is passionate about helping people find alternative ways to stay healthier and happier. In her spare time, Dawn loves reading, chai lattes, and spending time with her family. When it’s not muddy or icy, Dawn can be found exploring new trails with her horse, Chinook, or enjoying time outside. EFT is a powerful tool to help with stress and illnesses.  After this interview, I shared with Dawn something in my life that has been troubling me and she gave me an EFT session. I had never done EFT and continue to use her techniques to help calm my soul. It works! Curious? Check out her YouTube channel loaded with goodness to help personal and inner peace.  Finding an accountability group to work with weekly has been instrumental in her growth.  The group focuses on coaching, mentoring, and cheerleading each other without shaming, however, they push each other constructively.  Voxer has been a great go-to that they use throughout the week to help each other to keep moving forward. #41 Goals, Values and Spending Alignment

Do you know your numbers?  I meet with clients all the time who have no idea of their profits and losses from month to month.  It took me a long time to understand the importance of knowing my numbers in business. Numbers tell the truth. They tell us if we should proceed with the business or shut the doors.  I had been in business for several years, owned my own home and met my husband, Bobby. I came flying in the door one day and proceeded to tell him how awesome I was! Ha! I said, look how much I made this month as I showed him my PNL (profit and loss statement) from my bookkeeper! I increased by $2000! I was overjoyed.  Bobby, who is a CPA, is very business savvy. He did not miss a beat, he pointed to the number on the bottom of the sheet, the NET and said no you didn’t, look what you spent. You spent this amount, therefore you made less than last month. I was SHATTERED . . . and guess what? I did it again with him until I was able to calm down and have him show me how the PNL actually worked. I will never forget that period in business (and our marriage)! In this episode, I interview Carenna Willmont, CFO at Willmont Financial.  Careena shares the story of how she came to be exactly where she is at today and how she helps others to understand the importance of finances. Carenna takes it a step further and discusses goals, values, and spending alignment. She helps businesses to design their accounting systems incorporating her background in neuroscience.   She works with the bookkeeper, accounting team, and management to create a budget based on the direction the company wants to go. She has developed a system called Service Leadership to help companies make adjustments to save money, gain clarity, and serve the company in their best light. Carenna believes in putting people first.  What a fantastic insightful interview with Carenna.  Listen in to hear how she has taken one company from 7 to 9 million! Welcome to Alaska Tracy podcast.  I am thrilled that you are here and so excited to share this episode with you. I was following a lady on Instagram and became very intrigued with her photos as well as seeing that she had just written a cookbook . . . lo and behold, this is her fifth cookbook in print. So I asked her for an interview and she said yes! I had no idea what to expect when I started the interview with LaDonna Rose Gunderson. When I clicked on “video,” LaDonna and her husband Ole were sitting in their car in the Ketchikan harbor smiling back at me. They said this was the best place for reception in Ketchikan. Come to find out LaDonna and Ole have one of the most amazing stories!!!  I had tears in my eyes in the first 5 minutes! Their story is one of adventures, overcoming challenges, and an amazingly beautiful marriage of 34 years. They spend all their time together and a lot of it working side-by-side on their 32-foot aluminum fishing boat in Southeast Alaska. So the interview ended up being way more than I could’ve ever expected. Actually, I had no idea, as I always feel divine intervention when asking people to be on my podcast.  I could have talked to them for hours! If you have any questions, comment below and we can do a follow-up interview. Please listen to the end to hear the story of how LaDonna ended up becoming a writer. Her first book was written because of a challenge they were facing.  It was pivotal in shifting everything in their lives! What an honor this divine meeting was, and I look forward to giving them both a hug in person someday.  Ketchikan is on my bucket list! When I stopped recording we laughed and laughed and told even more stories. The evening after the interview I was lit up with excitement, wonder, and amazement. There are so many fascinating people in the world that we can learn and grow from, and LaDonna and Ole are two of those people. So sit back, relax, and enjoy listening to this story of love, inspiration, oh and cooking! I learned a few wonderful tips about marriage and shared them with my husband after the interview! I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did doing it.  You can read more about LaDonna Rose and buy her new book, The Little Alaskan Crab Cookbook at http://ladonnarose.com  and connect with her (tell her Alaska Tracy sent you) on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest. “Live your life on purpose.” —Crystal Paine With the help of an amazing community and mentor in my life (and a super supportive husband), the new business logo and tagline is completed! The logo that was in use in the past was geared toward social media marketing which the company was helping businesses with from 2011-2016. In 2016 the business shifted to Vision Mapping, essentially helping business owners to create an intentional 12-month plan for success. It blossomed into workshops, retreats, working with management teams and women’s retreats, all with a common purpose: to guide businesses and individuals through a detailed system I created over my 20 years as an entrepreneur.  This system is a visually written plan with actions, accountability, and success tracking. It serves as a compass to achieving the desired results. The finished product (compass) is strategically built so that when life happens, the specifics, e.g., dates, times, who, what, when, where, and how will encourage one to get back on the path to success.  What happens along the way is often said to be transformational. Often fear arises,, which is essentially what had blocked the person from moving forward. Once we work on walking through the fear, the transformation can begin!  This system works 100% of the time when completed. That being said, often the results are beyond one’s wildest dreams. An example: I worked with a management team . . . taking them through the system. We worked on their Vision Map for 4 weeks.  Eight months later they are number one in their industry throughout the country! It is proven that when you take a vision, put it on paper, and line out the steps to get there, the chances of reaching that vision are 98% higher than only thinking about the vision.  A mind-shift happens when writing, discussing with another person and then being held accountable. I have seen it work in my life and others over and over. It is thrilling to watch people’s lives and businesses change! Are you struggling with reaching your Visions/Goals? Welcome to this week’s episode of The Alaska Tracy’s Podcast. I am honored that you are listening! Please subscribe for more goodness and feel free to share and or comment. What an honor to connect and get to know the amazing Karlene Cameron.  Karlene and I connected on Twitter (again great way to build your business and life).  She is an author, Business Owner, Marketing Professional, Professor, Mom, and Wife. Her story is a story of perseverance, belief, and determination to become a published author of 5 books. For years she worked in the corporate world and still does as a marketing professional.  She also taught as a University professor. 13 years ago she found herself going through the motions of a horribly boring daily routine craving something more.  She was feeling unfulfilled, trudging through each day and at the time a single mom raising 3 young children. She was working on her MBA in the evening and struggling to make ends meet.  Focused on being a good parent and trying to find a little slice for herself. Karlene sent me her remarkable story, and here it is: About 12 or 13 years ago, I was bored...going through the motions of a horribly boring daily routine. I wanted something more...I felt unfulfilled, slogging my way through the corporate 9-5. At the time, I was a single mom raising three very young children, trying to earn my MBA in the evening, struggling to make ends meet, be a good parent to my kids, and still try to find some time in there for me. I was disappointed with the romance novels I was reading, so I decided to start writing a romance novel! At first, I kept quiet about it ...for many years. I didn't want to explain my failures if it didn't work out. The novel, Dark Awakening, took 10 years to write. While some of the delay was simply trying to find time to write, I also didn't know what I was doing (lots of mistakes my editor had me fix later!), and of course, life events didn't have a way of helping! I told myself so many stories and made excuses ..."I'm not good enough to be a writer, who would want to read this, why am I trying so hard, what do I have to prove?"...the list goes on. I was my own worst enemy! During those 10 years, the children graduated, I graduated, I found true love (got married), moved, bought a new home, made new friends, lost old ones, and changed jobs (several times). There were lean times and there were not-so-lean times, but I never gave up on my novel. When I finished the book and knew it was time to start a concerted hunt for a publisher, the self-doubt came out in full force! My husband encouraged me and I sent the first round of query letters to about 20 publishers. Of the first batch, two publishers were interested: Vanilla Heart Publishing and Black Velvet Seductions! I chose the latter, and the rest is history. Now, I'm halfway through the third book, Dark Storm, which I expect to complete this year. Dark Gathering (the second book was released last year). I've learned a lot, made some mistakes, but I just keep moving (I feel a bit like Dory in Finding Nemo; keep on swimming, keep on swimming...) So I'm definitely no stranger to struggles. I'm also a business owner. About 2 years ago, I decided to launch my own marketing business, MKS Solutions. That has been a whirlwind as well, but with every roadblock, I keep pushing forward. My goal, says Karlene, is to be profitable in my business within 5 years (so I can quit my corporate job), and have 5 books in publication. I'm getting there…and you can find her website at https://karlenecameronbooks.com This week's episode is sponsored by Alaska Tracy's Vision Journal.  Your guided Vision Journal takes you on your very own journey of creating your compass for business and or life! Episode 34 Clarity After the Fog

“Take actions to move through the fog and rejoice in the clarity that unfolds.” ~ Tracy Roesch Williams   Last night I arrived back to reality after 6 weeks of retreat planning and doing, family visiting, and walking through fear.  Again because of my Vision Map, I landed on the other side of growth.  On my Vision Map, last summer was the Vision to create and implement a Women's Vision Mapping / Meditation Retreat in a remote location in Alaska. That Vision came to fruition in June.  The retreat was filled with magical, growth moments as each of the women completed their Vision Maps. We took time out for a four-hour kayak adventure, ate amazing food, and shared intimate stories that moved me to my core.  I came home and my brother, his wife, and our niece and nephew visited our Alaska Adventure Home. I have lived here 21 plus years and this was their first visit. We had planned 8 days of adventure and enjoyed each and every moment together. I took a full 8 days off from the business to be fully present. Then the FEAR set in. Fear of . . . What next? Another retreat? More workshops? Consulting one on one? Selling my journal? WHAT?  I sat still and did nothing...I take that back. I scrolled randomly on Social Media and went into that Social Media hole. Maybe you can relate.  Have you ever gone down the Social Media endless HOLE? The hole that sucks you in and takes hours away from your reality? When teaching and consulting, my answer for this state of affairs is to go back to meditation, writing, and finding the core that may have you stuck. After that process (which may take some intense work), take the info you gathered and share it with a mentor, coach, confidant.  Then and only then can we break free and move into action. So, because I am uncomfy preaching and skipping the practicing part, I got into action! I then called a mentor (or two) and found the root of my fear. Then the AHAAAAaaaas!!!! And then into actions to move me and the business forward.  Oh, the light at the end of the fear is so BRIGHT and magical! There, beyond the fear, can be clarity, focus, and joy.  Enjoy this episode as I share the journey through the fog, to the other side of fear and the magic that ensued as I ventured up the foggy mountain the following day and my thoughts shifted. Please subscribe, comment and share - and Hey, Thank YOU!!! *Are you feeling stuck? Is your business feeling stuck or at a point of shifting, changing, growing? Lindsay Nielsen - Constellation Shopping Services Thank you for listening to this week’s episode of The Alaska Tracy’s Podcast. What an honor to speak with Lindsay about her creation of Constellation Shopping.  Lindsay took the pain point and words often heard by those of us living in Alaska, “sorry we don’t ship to Alaska” and created a successful business. If you live in Alaska, you know how it is. You hop on a furniture site, fall in love with a piece, and get all the way to the ordering part, and you see that they do not ship to Alaska.  Oh, the frustration!!! But, wait! Constellation Shopping Services will connect the dots! Take a look on their site https://www.constellationshopping.com to see some of the brands that they have shipped for our customers.  Lindsay says we are not a shipping company, we are a shopping service.  Lindsay says, “we can ship from any store that takes orders online or by phone!” Her own experience begin as a child growing up in Alaska and experiencing different stores in the ‘lower 48’ when traveling and being amazed. She knew from very early on Alaska was missing out. Now as e-commerce has become a part of our daily lives, it’s still difficult for many people to ship to Alaska, especially when it comes to furniture. Lindsay’s business plan started with the customer’s experience at the forefront.  She launched Constellation Shopping Services at the toughest time of the year in business in Alaska: January.  She had her first client before she even flipped on her “open” sign.  Within the first few months, orders flowed in to prove that Constellation is a business much needed in Alaska.   As Constellation Shopping Services comes upon year three, Lindsay continues to be active in community networking groups. Constellation Shopping’s goal is to branch into the design aspect of putting your space together i.e.; Ikea kitchens. What an honor to interview Christine, The Business MD. I have known her for years and yet this interview solidified that she is the “real deal.”  I learned much from our conversation about her experiences that is valuable for me and the clients I work with. Christine’s expertise is her special recipe featuring her passion for helping people, businesses, and organizations dive deep within to create authentic change in business and in life. Her skills and strategies put people in the emotional driver’s seat, helping them to navigate through lifelong challenges and allowing alterations inside. This is the beginning of an opening for change, growth, and new opportunities to blossom individually and within the organization. Christine shares her story from Chicago to Alaska and WOW, what a LEAP of Faith story she has! I got teary eyed several times.  Her career in Sales Engineering led her on an Alaskan adventure in 2001. She signed up and headed to Alaska on a mountaineering course (btw, she had never hiked mountains).  While alone on a glacier, she heard a voice from deep within her soul telling her about a Vision for her business and life. She knew she would be making the move to Alaska. Returning to Chicago with this newfound Vision, she started setting intentions and actions into place.  Christine made the move to Alaska one year later in 2002. Upon arrival in Alaska, Christine knew she would need to go back to college in order to gain the knowledge needed to help others get to their root causes. So, while consulting as an entrepreneur full time, she went to school full time.  Christine completed her master’s degree at Alaska’s APU and then went on to complete her research, earning a Ph.D. in the process. Christine is truly a determined, knowledgeable individual. When working with Christine you can expect to start with her "Emotional Intelligence Assessment.” This can be done online from anywhere you live. The purpose of this is for you to give Christine 3 to 4 questions that you want answered about yourself.  Yes, that is not a typo. Questions about yourself. An example:“Why do I feel the urge to run when success starts appearing in my life?” Now get this, you answer the questions and send them back to Christine for her to analyze.  So in other words, what fear are you wanting to discover as the underlying condition?  Christine can then help navigate you along the path of opening up to change and allowing growth opportunities to flow in. Ready to change and grow in ways you never dreamed? You can get hold of Christine at www.thebusinessmd.net  You can fill out the form on her site and let her know your concerns and challenges. She also likes phone calls too; 907.223-8403.
