Are you tired of being just an observer of life? This video is for you if you want to change and transition your mind and body, live more fully, get in better shape and sustain good habits in the long term.  What You Will Discover:  ✔️ Why you may be spending time on OPP. You get ten emails upon waking up in the morning, is your reflex to answer and resolve those issues? Then you are living your life based on other people's priorities. It would be best first to do what is essential to you, like meditating, taking your vitamins, stretching, hydrating, and everything else necessary to start your day or the week powerfully.  ✔️ As you start building habits, treat yourself like a seven-day machine, not a five-day machine. If you choose to get up early, eat a certain way, or start any new thing to make your life better, do it for the rest of the week. These are lifestyle habits, not something that you're going to do and then take a break. ✔️  Don't rest on your purpose. Remember, you are on this planet for bigger things, and so you are going to have to stretch yourself (even on Saturdays and Sundays!) because while everyone else is sleeping, you're going to be awake working on the important stuff. ✔️  If your body is not in a peak state — nothing else matters. You can't work on your work, business, or finances if you're chowing down a half-gallon of ice cream every night with sugar dragging down your energy levels. So put your health on top priority.  Got VALUE from this episode? Let's take your success to the next level! The Importance of Staying Committed to Difficult Goals.  How many motivational podcasts and videos have you listened to or watched, and yet you still sit your butt down doing every other thing you need to do in life except HITTING your goals?  Even a super guru on top of the hill wouldn't be able to tell you that staying committed to challenging goals is 100% easy peasy! Because it's not.  In this episode, I will not bombard you with "wise" information. Instead, I will share valuable lessons from my own mistakes that are practical and actionable steps to get you unstuck and finally get you to MOVE and attack your big scary dreams!  What You Will Discover:  ✔️ Be reminded that playing small will do you no good. Most people are scared to go for their ginormous dreams! Big challenging goals will test you and make you stretch yourself and are so worthwhile because you will come out a different person on the other end.  ✔️  Why "Later" is a success killer!  Most people let life go on autopilot and wait for later or next time that eventually never happens. We get too busy cooking, eating, exercising, socializing, raising kids, sleeping or doing our job or taking out the trash, or mowing the lawn that we don't plan time in our day to plan our life. So if you don't pull up your calendar and say when later is, you're in for a major tragedy.  ✔️ Pick five significant goals. Make sure those five things are challenging, quantifiable, and the things you can do. Once you focus on those, it will determine everything else that comes after that. What skills will you need? Who are the people you should be with? Determine these to layout your environment, and change your life. ✔️  Use TV time as a reward when you hit goals.  Sleep, rest, mental refreshing, and even bingeing on your favorite shows are essential for you. However, ensure that you plan and limit that time and use it as a reward for other things you've accomplished.  ✔️ Honor a dream building and planning day.  Set a day in your calendar to stop and do nothing! Let this personal appointment with yourself allow you to pull away from work and distractions and plan. BUILD time into your life to THINK about your life.  ✔️ How to shut down distractions and protect your focus.  Bing, bing, bing... email, text messages, and notifications come in, and you always feel like you have to answer it! Don't be governed by these, and learn how to focus. ✔️  Follow one course until successful. Narrowing down the things you want to do and constantly removing everything in your way to focus on one particular goal will work wonders in your life.  ✔️  Be obsessed with time and learn not to waste it. Take advantage of the tools built into your technology that help you focus and maximize utilities that allow you to be mindful of your every action. Got VALUE from this episode? SDN113: Swagger - How to Become Everything You Want with Leslie Ehm

Waiting for a thousand dollars to drop into your lap while lying in bed? Without a doubt, everyone would want that fantasy to turn into reality, but obviously, it's not going to happen if you don't work it out.  HOW? — that's the question. You don't come into this world knowing what there is to know about achieving your goals. Many people don't have any idea what they want in life.  So, how can you "manifest" or bring good fortune and opportunities into your life? The nearest parking spot, the closing contract, the ideal spouse, etc. Successful individuals have developed a method for noticing and using conditions and resources to accomplish their goals faster, and that is to be a SWAGGER — not the typical one, though. Save the date, mark it on your calendars and never miss this life-changing episode of Stop Doing Nothing. We’ll touch base on How To Become Everything You Want, and we have no other than SWAGGER coach, author, and speaker, Leslie Ehm. Key takeaways in this episode:  ✔️ Swagger is manifesting who you are and holding on to it in the face of all the psychological crap, regardless of the situation or environment. As you build your swagger, people recognize that you are unshakable, unmovable in your sense of self. ✔️ Recognize that there's no one prescribed way of manifesting a swagger. There's no one way of showing up like anybody's swagger—what matters is it's real. ✔️ The key is not about glossy perfection in any way, shape, or form. It's being a perfectly imperfect, flawed human badass. ✔️ Understand that self-belief is way different than confidence. It's the difference between success and failure. The self-belief that doesn't rely on confidence is like jumping off the cliff, you take these risks and learn all this new stuff, but you're not going to die. ✔️ Live by the paradigm that we don't pick up other people's baggage at the airport, why do we pick it up in life? Stop looking for all of your validation to come from other people. ✔️ Remember that you only have one face. You don't show up as a different person in different situations or environments. Once you accept that that's self-acceptance, then you're not so busy trying to cover it up. About Leslie Ehm:  Leslie Ehm is a Swagger Coach, training guru, speaker, and author who's helped thousands of professionals discover and unleash their unique brand of swagger - and finds success just by being who they really are. Leslie's been called "better than therapy," "a rock star," "ass-kicking," "a force of nature" and even "a witch" —and she's there for ALL of it. How To Build A Billion Dollar Blog On the Stop Doing Nothing podcast, you will discover how to get results in business and life using the simplest methods possible. This is a podcast aimed for high-achievers who possess a rare burning desire to see above the fog of life, create a better world for themselves and those around them. Great coaching is the secret of all successful people. This is what they don't teach you in business school. In this episode, you will be unlocking another secret to building a billion-dollar blog.  Every blogger out there wants a blog that attracts millions of visitors across the globe and generates a lot of money. When aiming for something like this, it's crucial to set realistic expectations. Building a billion-dollar business requires focusing on something that has high future value, allows you to step away from the business, and enjoy more of your life. Here are the key areas we covered in this episode:  How to build a personal brand that's going to captivate a billion-dollar audience and how you can turn it into a product or service-based business that can survive without being too dependent on you.  Figure out how you can add value to someone else's life based on what you're good at. There's no right or wrong as long when someone compensates you in exchange for the value you give them on a higher level; then you are on the right path. How you can monetize your passion — not just as one-off money, but recurring money. When someone drops $10,000 money in your lap, it's great. What's even better, though, is someone giving you two thousand dollars a month for a year or twenty people giving you $2,000 a month for a year. It's time to brainstorm for a better business model! Most people nowadays are driven by attention and fame. They want to be someone who has a million IG, Twitter, or YouTube followers. Those are great things, but that's just the beginning part of generating a million-dollar blog. Start selling products, not attention.  See the risky side of affiliate marketing. For example, if you're doing product reviews and someone clicks on your affiliate link to the, let's say, Nike website. Well, guess what? Nike has their attention now. Nike is going to get their credit card number, mobile number, and email address. They are no longer your customer. With all this attention building in the affiliate world, you are not building your email list. Here's a smart idea: why not direct that to your website or landing page to sell your products? Get yourself a CRM as soon as possible.  How to drive higher customer value through recurring or repeat purchases, and finding your balance between high-paying clients and customers who are subscribed on a lower price monthly plan.  How an affiliate program can help reduce your marketing expenses. The Five Parts Of The Perfect Business Model On the Stop Doing Nothing podcast, you will discover how to get results in business and life using the most simple methods possible. This is a podcast aimed for high-achievers who possess a rare burning desire to see above the fog of life and create a better world for themselves and those around them. Great coaching is the secret of all successful people. This is what they don't teach you in business school. In this episode, you will learn about the five parts of the perfect business model. If you want to build a thriving business, your business model should convince you that your idea makes sense because your time, money and effort are at great risk here. Nevertheless, it’s always advisable to leave room for future innovations whatever business models you opt to utilize.  Here are the key areas we covered in this episode:  The value of data in marketing and business — how it can help you identify which marketing efforts drive conversions and sales, so you can get to know your prospects better and work with your dream clients.  How to strengthen your weak branding statement. For example, instead of saying, "I help people realize their dreams and make unlimited income," you can turn it into something more precise and powerful like, "I help female entrepreneurs break the ten thousand dollars a month barrier by showing them how to monetize their knowledge twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, by using A, B and C tactics."  The benefits of offering high-ticket products or services that will skyrocket your profits. This process shouldn't be complicated at all. Your knowledge, your products, and your services become more valuable when you bundle them together. The significant risk of depending on a single large client up to the point of neglecting the marketing side of the business. As a client, you don't want your revenue to count on you for a big percentage of their revenue. Clients go away; it happens. Therefore, discover how you can find a way to get small recurring income as much as possible.  The importance of having a place for you to collect data about your prospects or your customers — it could be any web-based platform where you can push information to people, and they can sign up.  Loved this episode? How To Accelerate Your Business Growth with Linda Lopeke "Sometimes entrepreneurs are held up to be the reason their business didn't succeed, when in fact, the reason their business didn't succeed is that it wasn't set up on a proper foundation." -Linda Lopeke (13:22-13:32) There can come a time when your business isn't growing as fast as it used to be. Your growth may be winding down to the point that you are concerned that your progress may backslide. And you want to accelerate development to reach set deadlines for building sustainable business objectives. There are many approaches that you can use to accelerate your business growth and achieve the targets you have for your business. In this week's 104th episode of Stop Doing Nothing, we're joined by Linda Lopeke. Together, we're going to cover how to accelerate your business growth and how to do it the right way, with the right people's help.  Linda Lopeke’s Humble Beginnings Linda Lopeke started her first business in 1967. But before that, she was into management consulting practice. She was a computer scientist and systems engineer. But her many careers didn't end there; Linda also worked in international finance and banking.  The Birth Of The Smart Start Business Success Accelerator Starting her own business in 1980, Linda dealt primarily with corporate clients. Then, there is a leadership conference that Queen's University has each year called QLEAD, and they invite top entrepreneurs to come and speak to their student population and give guest lectures. Linda was there, giving one lecture on entrepreneurship. After her lecture, the students in the lecture hall all rushed at me. They started talking to me about the different business ideas and wanted to develop what they couldn't find any support or guidance for bringing them to market. They were having a really difficult time, and they had such brilliant ideas and so much enthusiasm. It was clear that they believed in themselves, and they needed someone to help them bring their dreams to life and who didn't discount them for their age or their lack of business experience or anything like that.  At that exact moment, Linda decided that she was going to help these kids and ended up creating the Smart Start Business Success Accelerator. Using The Smart Start Business Success Accelerator Versus Doing It On Your Own The difference between somebody going at their business on their own versus working with a Smart Start Business Success Accelerator is that there are 12 foundational core competencies to make your dream survive and unfold the way that you imagine it would be. When a new entrepreneur is bootstrapping, they may have a small number of loans from parents, friends, and family. They may have a small bit of money or credit cards that they can use. They can tap into these limited resources to help them by the expert guidance they truly need. It isn't easy to evaluate people who do offer courses and coaching programs when they are considering making investments because they don't have the foundation to vet these people. And so, Linda started this Smart Start Business Success Accelerator program to help address those concerns.  "It's not enough to be smart. You have to have people looking out for you who want you to succeed and who are willing to tell you when you're off base and why you're off base." -Linda Lopeke (29:47-30:04) 12 Core Competencies You’ll Learn Using The Smart Start Business Success Accelerator  Anchored to the Smart Start Business Success Accelerator Program, Linda shared that regardless of what business you're in, you have to find your perfect people. The four things that contribute to that are strategy, planning, revenue, and the relationships you build in your ecosystem. The second step every business owner has to do is create compelling products and services. The four core competencies that impact products and services are branding, pricing processes, tools, and technology. Finally, you need to build a stand out of business if you're going to make competition irrelevant and succeed. The four core competencies you need to master to make that happen are design, buzz, productivity, and social media. Who Would Benefit From Smart Start Business Success Accelerator? Linda is primarily working with underperforming businesses. But according to her, it's better if you start in the program when you're completely new because you will start with a much stronger foundation. But typically, people come to them after investing anywhere from ten to over one hundred thousand dollars in courses, programs, coaching, and consulting that does not advance their business in any way. So they end up questioning themselves, "Do I even have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?" More they question the validity of their ideas, and they think that they have an idea that nobody wants. But when they come in, what Linda finds out is they have not been able to get the guidance needed. To understand how to take that idea, build it into something sellable and communicate that effectively to the target market and then do the marketing in a strategic way that allows them to convert the idea from just an idea to something that creates sustainable income over the long term.  "They can't take you down if there's nothing to take down." -Patrick Allmond (19:49-19:51) How Can Smart Start Business Success Accelerator Help Accelerate Your Business? Businesspeople who come into Smart Start have generally had many bad experiences with their investments in the past. That is because where they invested in had 10 out of 10 marketing, but 0 out of 10 business experience, knowledge, or expertise. So they've bought into a bit of an illusion. What happens is they are very disgruntled with their experience. They are held up to be the reason their business didn't succeed. When in fact, the reason their business didn't succeed is it wasn't set up on a proper foundation or the people that they had chosen to work with initially did not know how to adjust the marketing for specific purposes.  However, let's say that you have 10 out of 10 marketing, but your product or service is crappy. That's only going to harm your reputation and put your business into the ground faster. We're in the Internet age now, and you cannot hide behind those kinds of failures. People are going to hear about it. They're going to talk about it. It's going to spread like wildfire, and everything that goes on the net stays on the net. So now the onus is on the business owner not just to have great marketing, but to make sure that their products and services live up to the promises they're making in that market. You cannot delegate or outsource your reputation. It takes months, if not years, to develop your professional credibility. The authority behind your programs and your products and services and the customer testimonials are social proof that attests to your business's results to clients and customers. If you are not careful about how you are behaving and delivering and supporting your client base, you can lose that reputation in a nanosecond.  Since you're in charge of your behavior and how you're positioning and running your business, then as long as you are doing the things that you need to be doing, it doesn't matter if the odd person has something nasty to say about your business. Remember that you're not going to be liked by every person in the world. The only thing you can control is to ensure that execution does not align with what the odd, nasty person is saying about your business.  You can only do the best that you can do, and you can only behave in the most honest way you can. If you do that consistently, when the trolls try to take you down, they will not be able to.  How to Get Involved Patrick Allmond is a multi-decade entrepreneur, veteran, pilot, and ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX Contributor. SDN103: How Do You Build An Empire?

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 29, 2020 19:28

How Do You Build An Empire? "All the great empires in the world are based on people taking and monetizing their knowledge and their wisdom." —Patrick Allmond(05:07-05-15) I have a Facebook group called Empire Builders; the full name is Empire Builders: How to Build a Thought Leader Lifestyle. So what happened is we have a new group member today, and he posted this question, "How do I build an empire? I mean, where do I start?" I've always liked the name of that Facebook group because it epitomizes what I want to do and what I like to teach people. But no one's ever asked me precisely what is an empire and how do I build one. So, I've put together a few notes that will be a good starting point for those of you who are curious to know what’s an empire, how you build an empire, and what it means to have an empire. Part One of 'How Do You Build An Empire?' Historically, when we think of empires, we think of Kings and Pharaohs that rule over vast lands and people. The empire stretches far and wide. There are pyramids, dunes, buildings, and castles. But guess what? We live in 2020. There are not going to be any castles or any pyramids. In 2020, an empire in this day and age, especially in thought leadership, is a sizable business capable of generating multiple income streams. Essentially, the core part of what an empire means to me is when you have a business that just kind of runs on itself, is continuously growing, and is doing things you don't even know about.    A business empire is something that allows you a certain amount of freedom. Somewhat autonomous, meaning that a lot of it runs on its own. And you are not involved day in and day out of it. The reason you want to build an empire is to minimize your risk, maximize your income diversity, and also to give you freedom. Ultimately, if I were a list like the top three things I want out of an empire, it would be freedom. I want the freedom to come and go. I want the freedom to work whatever days and hours I want if I want to work.  These are facets that go through my head when I think about what it takes to build an empire. Now, how do you start building one?  First of all, you have to figure out either number one, what you're good at, or number two, what you're going to be good at.  "You don't have to know everything about a topic. You just have to know a little bit more than someone else." -Patrick Allmond (13:43-14:12) All the thought leaders and empires you see these days are based on either a software as a service offering a service, either offline or online. And so if you're someone who wants to build an empire, that's the way you need to be thinking is what can you offer or what value can you bring to some lives that you could charge people for? I am a big fan of recurring income based businesses, and I believe that a recurring income-based business is not passive. But recurring income-based business allows you to scale a lot easier than a one-off business where someone pays you by the hour or pays you a lump sum. And then, you know, the money disappears.  The beauty of recurring income base business is once you optimize how to get money in the door, it becomes just a matter of scaling, which is pumping money in the front end and continuing to optimize that thing. When you optimize that formula, then life becomes easy. Turning that one dollar into five dollars or one dollar into ten dollars. it's relatively easy. Part Two of 'How Do You Build An Empire?' If you're going to be building an empire, learn how to take a marketing dollar and multiply it by five to ten times by selling what you are good at or what you want to get good at. Now, one problem I see in the entrepreneurial world and questions I get publicly and privately are I don't know what to sell. I don't know what I'm good at. I'm not good at anything. How do I develop a product or service? Well, that's a mindset issue.  However, I would say that if you don't know what you're good at, then you shouldn't even be thinking about starting a business. And if you shouldn't be thinking and if that sounds somewhat depressing, It's meant to reset your mindset.   Maybe you want to think about what you can get good at and what do you want to do or what would you find fun? What would you get joy out? What kind of skills do you have that maybe you don't know you have? There's some self-analysis on, but don't jump into this entrepreneur pool if you don't have something that jazzes you, makes you happy, and puts a smile on your face.  "You want to bring these people into your empire and convince them that you have the same energy, and you speak to them, and you talk to them the way they like to be talked to." -Patrick Allmond (16:14-16:24) So if you don't know what business you want to start or what service you want to offer, pick one. Your business can involve the same skill, and all you have to do is think about different ways of selling it. You may have just the one-off course, and you sell it for four hundred dollars. Then you may have the high-end consulting side that you sell for fifty thousand dollars. And you may have the books and the T-shirts and the bracelets and the stickers and all that stuff. But it's all the same; it's all teaching the same thing in the same practices. It's just a matter of how you monetize that path over and over. How To Not Go Broke In 2020? "Being poor is painful, and it does not feel good. It feels humiliating."— Patrick Allmond (02:36- 02:50) Businesses are closing, restaurants, cinemas, and shopping malls paused or stopped operations because of the current health crisis. While business owners suffer great losses, those that are greatly affected are workers that get laid off.  If you've been laid off or you think someone's going to be laid off or, you know, someone who's been laid off in your family, watch the full 102nd episode of Stop Doing Nothing—How To Not Go Broke In 2020. I’ll talk about getting a head start on your financial independence and ways to avoid getting broke. Part One of 'How To Not Go Broke In 2020.' Right now, a lot of you might be digging in your savings or digging into your investments. You're digging into money that you've saved for vacations and cruises, and you are just scraping by while you're looking for work.    The United States is laying off around one hundred hundred fifty thousand workers. They're laying off a sick number of people, and it's painful. I hate seeing anybody struggle financially. Probably one of the reasons I'm not too fond of it the most is because I have been there.  If you want to talk about being poor, I can talk about that all day long. But my whole point is that it's painful and it does not feel good. It doesn't feel very comfortable. It feels humiliating to choose not to be gainfully employed, not contributing to society, that feels embarrassing sometimes.  But I want to give you ideas of things you can do to get ahead of the curve before things get really bad. I talked to a lot of people who were in the business of selling their knowledge. I help people set up businesses to sell their knowledge.  "Don't be cheap. You're not working for minimum wage anymore. You're teaching someone. You're selling your brain, which has taken you decades to fill with information." -Patrick Allmond(16:39-16:48) If you're someone who has a lot of experience like you've worked for a company and had enough wisdom to train somebody else. People that train and communicate well are in demand all of the time. If you've got any of those types of training or knowledge sharing skills, you are an asset to the market, and you should sell those skills. The business of taking your knowledge, formalizing it, laying out in a step by step, doing videos, and doing live streams is a profitable business model. The good part about it is you can do it 24/7. You can do it on a one-off basis or recurring basis. The business can be as big as you want to be or as small as you want to be. You can work from anywhere. It doesn't matter where you are when you are someone who sells your knowledge, your wisdom, for a profit. Part Two of 'How To Not Go Broke In 2020.' Theaters are closing, amusement parks are closing, bars are closing, restaurants are closing, and they're not opening up anytime soon. So how to not go broke in 2020?  I tell people that if you want to get in this business of being a thought leader, of sharing your knowledge, first of all, take what you know and try to sketch it out on the back of an envelope. Please give it some structure. Just do it there, get a very basic layout. Don't worry too much about the steps. Don't worry too much about creating the content. So get whatever knowledge you have in your head laid out in some very basic form, and then stop, stop for a second while that's laid out.    And then I'm going to pivot your neck a little bit and talk to you alone about the marketing. What are some good things to do to get marketing up and running fast in 2020? When are we here?  Start by taking your social media accounts and updating them, saying you are on the market. For instance, you post, "My name is Patrick. I sell woodworking services if you need custom woodworking done. Here's my cell number, here's my email address". Just get that out there. Don't be embarrassed or ashamed to use your social media accounts to promote yourself. People will understand it, I promise.  The other thing you have to do is create a Facebook fan page. Get the profile and cover photos updated, start putting out maybe daily or weekly updates with examples of your work. And again, go back to your personal Facebook accounts and start inviting people. Invite your mom and your dad and your brother and your sister to ask them for invites also. There's no shame, there's no embarrassment in that at all. Please don't focus too hard on how it looks done is better than perfect. And please, don't be cheap. "You need to get paid; you need to run a business; you need to keep the lights on and put food on the table. There are no rules, and you shouldn't listen to people saying now is not the right time to start a business." Patrick Allmond(24:46-25:10) So, after you've announced your business, social media, the next thing you would do is figure out a way to take someone's money. Find a way to take payment.  What's going to happen is, after you're doing what I'm talking about for a few days, someone's going to come out and say, "Hey, I've got a job for you. How do I give you money?" and you want to be prepared for that. Personally, if I had a choice, I would lean toward Stripe. I have a bad habit of holding onto your money. Stripe is pretty good about making sure transactions are good about getting money in your bank account. Fast like within 48 hours sometimes. You've got a Facebook fan page now you're announcing it to your friends and family from your personal Facebook accounts. You got laid out what you want to sell right there, and you got a way to accept payment. Now, what comes next?  You are teaching now, and your hourly time is worth more. So here are some tips.  Number one, don't bill by the single hour, bill by blocks of hours with your particular skill set. You never want someone to buy just a 60-minute block because, more than likely, what you teach is pretty advanced. You've been doing it for a while, and people don't know it yet, but they want two hours, and they want four hours, and they want eight hours.    Come up with a two-hour block of time and charge for that, don't be cheap. You're not working for minimum wage anymore. You're teaching someone you are selling your brain, which has taken you decades to fill with information. You buy a two-hour block of a thousand dollars if you want to talk to me and get someone on one consulting. It's recorded, and it's professional, and it's organized. So when you're thinking about pricing., don't be afraid to price high. The fifth thing that you would start doing is more of a recurring thing, and that is to demonstrate your knowledge to people to make it very easy to buy from you.  What does that mean?  Start talking on your social media accounts about what you know in little small bite-sized chunks. Remember that there are multiple ways to get work when you are selling your knowledge. One is by actually doing the work for people, and one is by training people how to do it better. With that, start working on your idea and squash those negative voices. I am here to keep you fed. I am here to help you feed your family. And if you don't do that, the repercussions are pretty tragic.  I do not want you to get kicked out of your house. I do not want you to live in your car. I do not want to pull up on the side of the road and see you panhandling. I'm not putting down any of the people where those things happen to them. But I want to keep you in a situation to avoid you from getting there as much as possible. In my years of experience in the business world, I have proven that dwelling on negative thoughts can block your success in manifesting wealth. Let’s forget about all the reasons why it won’t work, regardless of your gender or status in life. Instead, let’s focus on the possibilities. In this week’s show, we’re going to talk about Women Choose Wealth with my guest Olympia Hostler. Part One of ‘Women Choose Wealth with Olympia Hostler’ Olympia Hostler is known as the big money strategist and CEO's trusted growth expert, unshackling business owners to SCALE their companies and fast forward their success without working harder or longer on their fastest path to freedom of time & money! Olympia’s great passion is to help other highly intelligent, ambitious, and intentional women substitute the joys of wealth, traveling and giving back for the relentless treadmill of joyless hard work. She lives at the beach in Southern California and takes many vacations every year. She loves spending her priceless time with family and friends.  She has plenty of time and resources to help her aging dad with health issues, plan for retirement, take care of personal affairs, and contribute to the causes that matter most to her. In addition to her plentiful time and resources, she gets to treasure her vibrant health, energy, and peace. “We normally hear about the fear of failure. But others experience fear of success secretly!” — Olympia Hostler (05:50-05:55)   Men and women have been raised differently. But Olympia shares a unique perspective that even if a lot of women are afraid of money, there are ways to remove the money blocks from getting in your way. The common money blocks that some people have are — the feeling of not being good enough, the feeling of being unworthy, fear of success, and failure.  We all want money beyond wealth reasons. Does it allow you to have the lifestyle you want, have a meaningful life, spend more time with your kids, go on vacation, give back, and impact the planet? So, it boils down to having a healthy relationship with money, so you can reap the benefits and live the life you’ve always dreamed of.    Making a lot of money doesn’t always mean you have to work longer hours. The concept is to make more money and work less. Once the blocks are gone, money is just going to flow into you at a much faster and a more significant rate.   Part Two of ‘Women Choose Wealth with Olympia Hostler’   Olympia Hostler is also the Founder and Director of The Lasting Pain Relief Center. She had tried every type of doctor, every alternative, and traditional therapy that she could find – none of them worked to alleviate her pain. The MRIs, X-ray, and CT scan found nothing. The mission of all of their highly-skilled therapists at The Lasting Pain Relief Center is to help people heal and return to a pain-free, active life. They have been in business for over 15 years, and many of their therapists have 20-35 years of experience helping people heal and recover from a variety of ailments.   If you have unresolved, undiagnosed, or misdiagnosed issues, and cannot find relief in other modalities, pills, or surgeries, here's an interesting story that can give you a better perspective. “The world is full of possibilities.” —  Olympia Hostler (30:48-30:50) There was a guy in New York City who called regarding the services that she offers, and she told him the price. The guy said, “I can go to Chinatown and get a massage for $40!” And because Olympia is confident about what value she can bring to the table, the caller ended up admitting that she has the long-term solution he’s looking for.    He asked him questions like, “How many times have you paid $40 in Chinatown? How better did you get after visiting Chinatown?” That means he’s going to spend a lifetime of forty-dollars or pay for a better service that guarantees excellent results.   See how far along you are on the path to creating more wealth, more easily, and living your life on purpose with passion as you bring your dreams to life every day. You can complete the My Money Blocks Quiz. Each section represents an essential element for creating the results you are wanting. How to Be a Better Person in the Next 30 Minutes "The best ways you can lose weight is to lose the weight of the opinions of people around you."—Patrick Allmond (06:45-06:51) We are severely judged every single day. We are judged on our social media posts. We're judged on our appearance and were judged on the type of laptop we have, the kind of coffee we drink.  With all these judgments and opinions around us, the struggle to be a better person gets more challenging by the day. The worse happens when we let these negative thoughts get into our way of life and affect us and how we live. In his 100th episode at Stop Doing Nothing, Patrick Allmond talks about "How to Be a Better Person in the Next 30 Minutes."  Part One of 'How to Be a Better Person in the Next 30 Minutes.' We're wrapping up 2020. I think I've got some good lessons that I've learned. First is that one of the best ways you can lose weight is to lose the weight of people's opinions around you. People, as judgmental beings, tend to be harsh with each other. They tend to make fun of each other. It's becoming a reflex action that you wouldn't be surprised to get a head-to-toe stare if you looked different from others.  If you're guilty of these actions, pay attention when you're altering your physiology. Please pay attention when you give your opinion, whether it be through your actions or your words. What you do or what you say may back off a strong opinion. It might be outraging or is pissing off somebody. Whenever that happens, try to pump the brakes. When you have a chance, change.     "Pay attention when you're altering your physiology or altering your opinion about what you'll say that might be outraging to somebody. When that happens, pump the breaks."-Patrick Allmond (10:27-10:55) The second point I want to share with you is the fact that a lot of people are really tied up about challenges in life and are so tense that they forget about the fun things. We are so ingrained in these debates. We're having online political debates, the racial debates, the debates about cops, the debates about technology, the debates about minutia, etc. Reality hits us hard, but we love to debate or argue about small things in this world—and they drag us down. They'll drag us down for hours and days and weeks and months. And suddenly 50, 60, 70 years have gone with minutia and small debates. Now and then, what we need is a reset to remind us of the importance of living fully and celebrating life. Furthermore, a reset allows us to look at how things are finite in this world.    It's hard to admit, but life can disappear on us pretty fast. Thus, whenever you're fighting, pissing away, and losing time on small things, constantly remember the bigger and more important things in life.  Part Two of "How to Be a Better Person in the Next 30 Minutes." Most people get frustrated at having progress, not at the same pace as other people's progress. Whether it is health, business, finances, or the things we do at home, we have what we call 'different journeys.'   I like to share the importance of the journey because I hoped you could use my journey as a fodder lesson. But also, remember, we are on two separate journeys. So if I share my journey, my big win, bear in mind that my big win isn't meant to make you feel like you don't have a big win or be working on the same big wins I did. We are on separate journeys. We really are.  So, if I'm doing something great, don't expect you to have the same skill. And if I'm doing something poorly, don't hold off on doing it because you think you're going to fail at it. We are on two different journeys on this planet, whether it's wealth or starting a business or relationships or physical attributes. "When you're out there watching other people's journeys use them as fodder and as inspiration, but try not to get frustrated at your journey compared to their journey because you are on two completely separate paths." -Patrick Allmond (17:51-18:08) Stop expecting you from other people. In other words, when you put something out, whether it's on social media or you're at a social event, you're discussing something with someone. Never assume that you are going to have the same opinions and ideologies as other people. Because when you do that, it's very easy for us to get frustrated and generally pissed off at other people. We tend to go into instant defense mode because we believe in our opinions strongly. And often, we like discussing things only with people who share the same beliefs and value system. That's not how the world works; that is not realistic. There is nobody who is going to have the same opinions as you    So, when you are putting an opinion out there, when you're discussing something or starting a new venture, remember that you're dealing with people who don't share your opinions. It's important to remember that because it will improve your communication skills. It's going to get you out of a fight or flight mode and maybe make you be more accepting of people realizing that we all have different experiences in that.  You know what? Not everyone's going to agree with you, and that's perfectly okay. The great people have opposing opinions and can have healthy debates about them, not fights and not setting each other's houses and cars and businesses on fire. But the great people to be around are the ones that can say, "Okay, well, we don't agree on this. Let's either find something we can agree on, or maybe let's take a little piece of our disagreement and find something that we can agree on." Those are the peacemakers of the world. Those are the people who can settle big fights and big arguments. Next Steps Patrick Allmond is a multi-decade entrepreneur, veteran, pilot, and ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX Contributor. Today, Compete Every Day's apparel is sold online at CompeteEveryDay.com and through its network of 20+ retailers throughout the US and internationally. “Video marketing should help with pre-selling your coaching or speaking packages.” — Patrick Allmond (16:43-17:00) Jake speaks around the US to companies, conferences, & athletic programs on how to adopt the Compete Every Day mindset, accountability, and focus for success in life. We try to prove that we can be as strong as they are. But why don't we focus on what our actual strengths are?    Jake shares how important it is to spend your money on photography and the branding of your products. Quit spending money on things you don't necessarily need just, so your customers see you in a higher status. “Quit spending money on things you don't necessarily need so that you feel like customers see you in a different status light.” —  Jake Thompson (30:07-30:14) Now, how does he operate his business differently? He puts a thank you note to every person on the card. The printed card says, "Hey, we don't take your purchase lightly. We know how hard it is to earn money. We appreciate you investing it with us and, more importantly, investing it to reinforce the message with you that you're going to compete." Jake Thompson believes that every day is a competition - against your pride, comfort zone, fear, complacency, snooze alarms, bad habits, bad relationships, and more. It's not about you versus them. StealthSeminar is the longest-running automated webinar in existence that autopilots your efforts and lets you run pre-recorded webinars as if they are live to better leverage time, avoid tech failures, and remove presentation nerves. In this week’s show, you’ll meet Geoff Ronning, the CEO of this AMAZING must-have tool. Part One of ‘Interview with Geoff Ronning - Stealth Seminar’ Geoff Ronning resides in Litchfield Park, Arizona. His business focuses on automating webinars, generating leads & sales, building authority, and optimizing results. Geoff has helped thousands of clients successfully automate their webinars, and the numbers keep growing daily! Geoff Ronning is also into boxing, sanctioned by the USA Boxing Association, which is the same sanctioning body that sends people to the Olympics. They have divisions for older guys like him. He was such a big fan of boxing during his teenage years, but he got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. His doctor told him, “You have to start working out.” So, that was the time he tried boxing and loved it. “You can market without having the coolest, highest tech and shiniest object in the room.” — Patrick Allmond (29:12-29:19)   You can't argue with a company that uses a product that generates millions of dollars a month. So, it's worth mentioning that I've been in the digital marketing industry for many years, I see a lot of products come and go, but Stealth has always been there. Part Two of ‘Interview with Geoff Ronning - Stealth Seminar’ Before creating a webinar software, Geoff performed all over the United States and became an instructor of hypnosis through the National Guild of Hypnotists. Now, he doesn’t need to hire someone to do the automation for him because he created a software himself that works across an array of niches. Thus, it also brought about all the other things like Netflix, which used to be challenging to do back in the 90s. “We can all agree that McDonald's does not have the best burgers. But their killer marketing makes them different from the other popular brands.” —  Patrick Allmond (29:40-29:51) Geoff shares one of the biggest lessons he learned during his 20s — make sure that you’re always marketing. It should be a non-stop activity. He says that running a business isn’t supposed to be a complicated thing to do. You only need to identify your target clients and give them what they want. Clients in 300 industries value his capacity to integrate sales, technology, art, and psychology. Let’s welcome my special guest, Perry Marshall! Part One of ‘Perry Marshall Interview’ Perry Marshall is the founder of the $10 Million Dollar Evolution 2.0 Prize, staffed by judges from Harvard, Oxford, and MIT. He aims to solve the #1 mystery in Artificial Intelligence and the origin of life itself.   He is endorsed in FORBES and INC Magazine. His reinvention of the Pareto Principle is published in Harvard Business Review, and NASA's Jet Propulsion Labs at the California Institute of Technology uses his 80/20 Curve as a productivity tool. He's served as an expert witness for search advertising litigation. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering and lives with his family in Chicago. “We have to get better as marketers.” — Patrick Allmond (23:06-23:07) Perry Marshall shares the five power disqualifiers by John Paul Mendocha, a former gambler and now a marketing and sales expert. Do they have money? Do they have a bleeding neck? Do they buy into your Unique Selling Proposition (USP)? Do they have the ability to say ‘YES’? Does what you sell fit into their overall plans? If you start incorporating a list like this in your marketing and any pre-qualification process that you do, you'll sell more with about one fifth as many appointments and avoid getting your time wasted in exchange for better clients. You surely don’t want to mail letters to zip codes or speak at a business conference where the majority don’t have the capability to pay. You want to make sure that you’re targeting the right customers for your business. Part Two of ‘Perry Marshall Interview’   The truth is, with the five power disqualifiers, your life as a marketer becomes so much better, especially now that we have a lot of resources like email, social media, direct mail, books, advertising, magazine, articles, and many more. Today, we also find a lot of networking groups where we can propose our unique resolutions. And if we post them out there, it will attract the right people, and you won’t need to chase people around. You’ll hear more people contacting you and saying, “I need you to come and help me do this.” “If you're not getting enough, you're not trying hard enough.” —  Patrick Allmond (26:17-26:21) Perry also mentioned his book Evolution 2.0: Breaking the Deadlock Between Darwin and Design, which took him six years to write. It's the most significant fundamental science research prize in existence. This book explores 70+ years of under-reported evolutionary science. This book will open your eyes and transform your thinking about life, evolution, and creationism. You'll gain a deeper appreciation for our place in the universe. SDN096: Video Marketing For Business with Tamara Thompson If you've been following the previous episodes and live streams of Stop Doing Nothing, you'll notice that all of the content is getting better because of this brilliant woman, Tamara Thompson, my guest for this week's show. We're going to talk about video marketing for business. Hopefully, this can help enlighten your perspective on the essence of video marketing and the tremendous impact it can create in your business, especially during COVID-19. Part One of ‘Video Marketing for Business’ Tamara Thompson is the CEO of Serious Take Productions, a premium video marketing company. Business owners hire her to visually and emotionally share their stories so they can inspire and establish their authority through media creatively and compellingly in a way that is congruent with their brand.  Her clients are in the personal and professional development industry: primarily speakers, coaches, consultants, and agency owners who have built a business around their expertise. They have a proven track record of helping transform the lives of clients. They have produced reputable results. They want help creating videos that help them sell without feeling overly salesy. Also, they want to be positioned as the go-to authority and trusted experts in their field. Some of them may even want practical training on how to create videos, what to say, and how to use video and media to sell more effectively. Her mission is to turn everyday people into Influencers. She helps business owners build a scalable company and become more visible consistently online to attract more clients without having to chase people around or be tech-savvy. “Video marketing is an important part of the business.” — Patrick Allmond (08:31-08:33) Tamara started using a camera at the age of seven. She loves jumping in front of the camera and getting told by her parents, "Tamara, we're trying to record your little brother. Get out of the way!" Growing up, she never even looked at it as a career option. Back then, it was merely deemed a hobby, and she loved making silly videos, just like any other young people out there. She was in the fitness industry for about eight years and discovered that she had more fun filming her friends that were personal trainers. So, that made her decide to go back to film school in her late 20s.  She had a mentor who passed away shortly due to lung cancer after she graduated. Upon discovering how good she was when it comes to directing, seeing the overall vision, managing the storyboard, and storytelling, she was challenged to film a documentary and enter it into film festivals which ended up being sold out in film festivals all across Seattle, Washington, and Palm Springs, California. That opened up more doors for her to receive invitations from people who wanted her to be a speaker for their events. It's an inspirational story about simply directing films up to running her own production company that's focused on branded content so that people could share their message congruently online. Part Two of “Video Marketing for Business Most people don't realize how important video marketing is in business. Whatever industry you're in, you always have the opportunity to connect with more people online. It's just a matter of knowing whether you're fully utilizing all the tools and resources you need to be consistently visible out there. But sometimes, generating enticing content can be an overwhelming process. If you're tired of wondering why other businesses get so much traction online, and you want to start working with a reliable, cohesive team that drives results and return of investment for your business content, it's time for you to consider working with Serious Take Productions and check out their Video Authority Accelerator program.  To give you a few details about what this program covers, you will get world-class support for your content & brand strategy, SEO & marketing research, video, podcast, blog, social media, and distribution & optimization. “We've created a system for influencers who want to be consistently visible.” —  Tamara Thompson (11:16-11:26) Video marketing can help position your authority as an influencer in your industry. How to Stay Sane While Sheltering in Place During COVID-19 “It’s time to get creative.” — Patrick Allmond (29:12-29:13) We're losing our minds right now because we're used to socializing with people. We've been in quarantine longer than we expected but we have the choice to make the most out of it, no matter how bad things get. In this week's show, we must stay optimistic and focus on how you can stay sane while sheltering in place during COVID-19. Part One of ‘How to Stay Sane While Sheltering in Place During COVID-19’ We can walk down the street or drop by at the grocery store to buy our essential stocks, but we can't hang out with each other and are strictly required to stay six feet away from each other. If you normally visit the gym to work out, make it a habit to maintain your regular exercise even at home.  “Keeping a routine can help you stay sane during isolation.” — Patrick Allmond (10:54-11:02) For those of you who are working from home or you're an entrepreneur who's used to going out and having active movements, it's best to maintain your pre-work routines. Keep yourself clean by showering even if you don’t have anywhere else to go. And if planning your food and fitness habits help you stay sane, then keep them on your daily schedule. If you’re a teacher, you can also start developing an online class to help others.  Part Two of ‘How to Stay Sane While Sheltering in Place During COVID-19’ This is also a perfect time to look at your garage. Look at the stuff around your house. It may be a good time for some cleaning since you've got a lot of extra time. You can do it with your family since you're probably spending a lot of time with them at home. It's also an opportunity to learn how to get along with them better. And if you have kids, help them understand that regular learning is important. So, that's where you can step in as a parent or older adult to teach and guide them, whatever needs they may have. If they’re smart, now may also be a good time to throw some even harder challenges at home to push their limits. “Maintaining a routine offers a lot of mental health benefits.” —  Patrick Allmond (20:25-20:27) It's time to get creative when it comes to education or business. Don't wait for the pandemic to be over before you get back to your daily routines. Don't forget to stretch and stay hydrated. Hopefully, you found some educational resources that you need during this time. There’s a lot of unique things that you can do. Part One of ‘Now Is The Time For Business Expansion’ If your business is dependent on face to face meetings or interpersonal relationships, what can you do to pivot that immediately? With so many content producers out there, now is a great time to get off your butt and produce content, newsletters, podcasts, and videos.  Content production is one of the things that leads to good advertising. Keep your content simple, record it using a microphone or a camera, and start talking. Get that on your Google calendar, a recurring block for content production every single week. Make a general outline when it comes to your business expertise. “We'll soon face the NEW NORMAL because things are not going to stay the way they are right now.” — Patrick Allmond (21:56-22:01) Your environment for content production may not be the best, but what you have right now is time to rearrange your stuff. If you need to rearrange your office, now's the time to do so for some inspiration.  When it comes to rearranging your physical office, consider thinking about your data organization online as well. All of us have billing systems online, CRM, SMS, email lists, and various assets of things. Now is the time to make a massive data move from one CRM to another CRM. Part Two of ‘Now Is The Time For Business Expansion’ Consider shopping for some cheap equipment. Find the right place to buy lights, cameras, microphones, and mixers through eBay, Amazon, or Craigslist if you want to have a decent content production studio in your office or your home office. And if you're determined to expand your business empire, consider partnering up with marketing experts through virtual conferences and summits. “Do something today to expand your business empire.” —  Patrick Allmond (20:04-20:06) If you've been following Patrick personally on Facebook, YouTube or iTunes, you're seeing that his content's coming out on a more regular basis now than it has ever been before. If you ever want to do any joint venture or joint training or basically in need of a trainer for your clients or audience, Patrick Allmond is the right fit. This week, during his Livestream, he answers questions from his viewer, Chloe, who's struggling to build money right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chloe: "I honestly don't really know what to do. It feels terrible trying to sell websites when people are struggling so much. I was thinking of low price/scalable offers like courses or Patreon. I'm super interested in any advice you have." Patrick: "Let's go through this one by one. Some people are struggling to put food on the table, keep the lights on, and keep the water flowing. You don't know what to do when it comes to selling to them or not. I would like to remind you that you have a responsibility not only to yourself but responsibility for your talents to help other people escalate. Your market is not the person who's teetering on edge and gripping every dollar. That person needs to save their money and needs to come nowhere near a web designer. Your target market is someone who maybe has some disposable money or a nine to five job. And they've always thought about starting a side hustle or dip their toe in it. And this is the time to push them over the edge to help them become more independent. You have to remember who your target market is and talk to them specifically. It's definitely a mindset thing. As a business owner, you must have a different mindset since you bring a lot of value to the market. Believe that the amount you're charging is making someone's life better. Start qualifying people out who are ready to act." We have a responsibility to get our value out to the world to help everyone recover. Stop Comparing and Start Living Now With Patrick Allmond “Stop comparing and start living.” — Patrick Allmond (07:13-07:17) Have you ever looked at someone's success and secretly created your assumptions that they don't deserve everything they have? Or perhaps, there was a time that you felt the same way for yourself? Sometimes, we trick ourselves with the word “deserve.” We think that we deserve certain things based on some completely irrational criteria. In this week's show, you'll adopt a different belief system that will shift your mindset in the right way. Part One of ‘Stop Doing Nothing’ Save yourself several decades of grief by not comparing your path to other people's journeys and possessions. No one in this world is living the exact same life. They may have started from the same place, but not the exact same results. It just doesn't happen that way. There are so many factors that go into success and where you go. “Take a serious look at your network.” — Patrick Allmond (18:45-18:47) We love to hate rich people who make a lot of money because we don't think they deserve it, but we should not hate those people. We shouldn't say that their wealth should be divided up equally against everybody else. The reality is that you get what you work for. You need to change the actions you take every day and put those more in terms of creating opportunities for yourself. Part Two of ‘Stop Doing Nothing’   It's an unhealthy habit to obsess over people who have things that you can't afford. Whether they are higher than you or lower than you, you will either become bitter or jealous. Start visualizing your goals and keep a good network. More opportunities will spring up when you're around people that have what you have and are willing to help you get it.   “You are here in this world to get what you work for.” —  Patrick Allmond (21:00-21:02) Take a serious look at your network, not your online network. Don't count your Facebook friends as your network, especially those of you that have over about two or three hundred connections on Facebook. These people are not your friends in any way, shape, or form. Those are not the people you should be primarily associating with.  What you should be doing is finding people in the real world and taking your relationships offline. You're not here in this world to get what you deserve or wait for what luck drops in your lap. You are here in this world to get what you work for. SDN091: Stop Hiding Motivations Do you mind spending five minutes of your time reading something that could change your life or your business forever? If you're ready to step forward and figure out what it's about, then keep reading. This quarantine period is a perfect opportunity for you to start thinking about how you're doing things. In this week's episode, Patrick Allmond shares his insights about hiding motivations. Part One of ‘Stop Hiding Motivations’ When we engage with each other on a personal level or a business level, we often like to put on a perfect face. We love showing off things like the best makeup, the best clothes, and putting our best face forward as we're talking about something. We often forget to talk about real things and focus on what's happening behind the scenes. “Transparency builds authentic connection.” — Patrick Allmond (06:11-06:19)   Sometimes, people don't see exactly what you want out of a personal or business relationship. Whenever you engage or come across someone trying to sell something, it's usually hard to trust that person right out of the gate because you don't know what their ulterior motives are. The longer you're in business, and the longer you live through life, you can spot the difference between transparent people and those who are just pretending. And you probably met a lot of them in the past, even up to the present time. So, here's a helpful tip for you. When you go into a business conversation, be yourself before the conversation, during the conversation, and after the conversation. Part Two of ‘Stop Hiding Motivations’ Some people in the public speaking industry act differently when they're not on camera. This is also true for people who are doing business presentations. Money isn't always our motivation for doing things. Sometimes we do something purely to make a better living and provide a better life for those around you. If you can be more transparent in your presentations, then it's going to make the other person connect better with you. If you share similar motivations with someone you're trying to sell something to, your selling job is going to be a lot easier. Generally, whether you're talking about something that may not be someone's cup of tea, you must be transparent at all times. “It's time to unleash the real you.” —  Patrick Allmond (07:56-08:01) Again, make sure that when you're going into sales conversations or you're going to be on stage talking or even if you're going to be out meeting somebody, make sure you're more transparent in your conversations. Make sure you're more upfront with what your motivations are. Because when you do that, things get easier. We tend to make so many things hard both in our personal and professional relationships because we are so busy pretending. We are so busy hiding our true self or so busy hiding our real wants, needs, and desires. This week's episode will allow you to come up with long-term vision plans for your business. Part One of ‘2020 Business Non-resolutions’ One of the best ways you can sell is for people to know that you exist. Maximizing visibility has always been a big challenge in business. We're challenged by things like technology, location, and competition around us. Make sure your message gets spread out there through different mediums like YouTube, podcasts, and social media channels. “Charge what you’re worth.” — Patrick Allmond (16:43-16:47) Be okay with more self-promotion. If you're sharing something that may not be other people's cup of tea, you've got nothing to worry about as long your goal is to make a positive impact. Also, you must build a better funnel so you can find the best customers. And that makes your self-promotion even more worthwhile. Part Two of ‘2020 Business Non-resolutions’ When it comes to finding the best clients out there, some people will tell you what you're offering is ridiculous for the price that you're offering. You must filter out those people by either sending them to an automated offering or let them know that it requires high investment to work with you. “Keep developing new products and services.” — Patrick Allmond (23:22-23:40) Lastly, create more products, more mid-level and high-level coaching and consulting offers to help make your life better and make your business easier. If you're not a fan of New Year's resolutions, take the time to revisit your business strategies to have a year better than the previous ones. How to Raise Smart Kids Earning a degree is crucial for growth and building a good future. But life can be unpredictable and throw you some curves. The truth is, there are many life lessons that simply can’t be learned in school. As we face the hard knocks of life, we gain wisdom every single time.  In this week’s episode, you’ll learn about:  The seven life lessons you can share with your kids for them to grow smart Part One of ‘How to Raise Smart Kids’ Be a good communicator Our kids should get good at communicating. You can get them involved in communication programs related to public speaking or something like toastmasters’ program, so they can get over the nervousness of being in front of other people. At some point, you’re going to want to be able to express your ideas without getting embarrassed and self-conscious. “Protect your dream and nurture it more than anybody else.” — Patrick Allmond (21:54-21:57) Give them a glimpse of adulthood reality Second, talk to them about some adult stuff. Teach them not to rely too much on the government, pay their taxes in the future, and encourage them to have multiple streams of income. Tell them to spend their money wisely to avoid any debts and save money in case of any emergency. Teach them to avoid negative people Third, don’t be afraid to tell them that some people are going to screw them over which is a normal part of life. If they can learn how to avoid people like that, it will save them from any potential frustration or disappointment. Part Two of ‘How to Raise Smart Kids’ Find a way to contribute Fourth, you can teach them not to wander aimlessly and pick a path where everything becomes easier. You always have the choice of where to set the direction of your boat.  Protect their dreams and missions Fifth, nobody will work harder on your dream than you. If you run a business and you believe your business has a mission or your business has a goal, you're going to have to protect that and you're going to have to be the one that constantly reminds people of that dream. You have to protect your dream and nurture it more than anybody else. It's also important to know that even when you share it with other people, they either have dreams of their own, and they may not be highly interested in your goals. “Hang around smart people.” —  Patrick Allmond (22:02-22:03) Sixth, hang around smart people.  Stop making stupid people famous Lastly, stop making stupid people famous. Some stupid people are famous because we make them famous. We feed their ego and make them think they’re highly talented by watching their movies or buying their perfume.  About Patrick Allmond Patrick Allmond is a multi-decade entrepreneur, veteran, pilot, and ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX Contributor. As we are going through 2020, start thinking about how you can look at your data and the results you bring to the people in your life. Do you want to live a more ambitious, better, and bigger life? You have the power to become a community playmaker who doesn’t just sit around and talk about things. Instead, you get up like a warrior and put things into action. In this week's episode, Patrick Allmond talks about the importance of selling the hole versus selling drill. Part One of ‘SDN EP86 Don't Sell the Drill, Sell the Hole’ Some people go into a business based on talent or a skill that they have. Whether you're a software developer, or you're someone who's good at accounting, financial planning or financial forecasting, you can start a business because you want to sell more of that thing that you are good at. When you reach a certain maturity level in your business, and you keep talking about tactics, you don't really stand out. You don't convince someone emotionally that they should pick your business over another business. Your business is just the same as everybody else's business. What you have to start doing to sell your business better is flip that mindset and begin selling the hole and not the drill. “It is crucial to address your client’s pain points.” — Patrick Allmond (09:57-10:06) As you're selling your products and services to people, you want to convince people that it's in their best interest to invest the right amount of money with you and not in the interest of you just taking their money. Make sure when you're talking to somebody about your products or services, that you're addressing them from an emotional standpoint, that you're addressing their emotional needs and their stress points. Part Two of ‘SDN EP86 Don't Sell the Drill, Sell the Hole’ Pay attention to people's body language. This is one of the reasons it's so great to sell in person or talk to someone in person before you pitch them something is because you can see how they react. And you can see when you mention certain things, how you have to alter the way you talk to them based on what they say. You can sell over text messaging, Facebook messenger, or even via email, but selling in person and talking to someone about their needs before you try to sell something is the best way to sell something. We can take advantage of today's modern technology, but selling in person is always the best way. “Avoid ambiguous words. Use words that are quantifiable and definite.” —  Patrick Allmond (15:01-15:07) When you use the word investment, and when you speak of people investing with you, it gives you a higher perceived value. It also makes people feel better about bringing over a cheque to you or giving you their sixteen digits credit card numbers. Majority of people like specific numbers and timeframes for them to know you have a plan. That's why using ambiguous words does not make people feel confident about working with you and about doing things with you and about investing in your service-based business.  You have to start using words that are more quantifiable and definite. Quantifiable numbers can make people feel more confident about the results that you're going to give them. As part of your business plan, review your monthly goals, your six-month goals, and your one-year goals. Some people lay out their daily goals, but often looking from a day-to-day perspective doesn't work. There are very few times when that's a good idea. It's possible, but it's not a good idea to look at stuff from a daily perspective. SDN085: How to Exercise Better Self Talk

How to Exercise Better Self Talk  One of the biggest lessons we have to understand is that ‘language matters’. It is not just about the language we use to other people but how we talk to ourselves.  In this episode, we will share with you some proven and tested techniques on how you can exercise better self-talk.  Part One of How to Exercise Better Self Talk  Some of us believe that our internal dialogue is not essential. But it plays a huge role because it somehow forms our vision and how we see things. Just by changing a single word or two can make things better or make things worse.  Remember, the words you say to yourself can shape your attitude.  “Stop using words and sentences that indicate ambiguity.” - Patrick Allmond (05:09 - 05:13) Let’s avoid non-committal words. For example, someone asks you about your goal for the year. You don’t answer them with, “I have no idea.” Instead, you must identify a clear purpose.   You must commit to a number. Brilliant CEOs and successful people always have a number in their head. Perhaps, say, “I plan to earn $700,000 in 2020.”  Ask yourself now, “How much do I want to charge for my business?” Around 90% of people, if not more, do not have an idea of how much they need to charge for their products and services. This can make you lose more money.  Some of us are scared to share the numbers, but we recommend that you put it somewhere that you can continuously monitor it. You can put it on your wall or your desk.  And what if someone asks you do to something you do not have an idea about? Instead of saying, “I’m not sure,” respond with, “I will find a way to do that.” It’s time to stop using soft language.  Part Two of How to Exercise Better Self Talk  Another thing that can help you with better self-talk is to focus on Plan A. We see a lot of people talking about Plan B, and that makes them lose focus on their original business plan.  Don’t get us wrong. Plan Bs are OK, but you shouldn’t focus on them. If you talk about your Plan B all the time, it distracts you from doing your original plan.   You also have to give quantifiable dates when planning. You can use Google calendar as a productivity tool. Or you can maximize a countdown timer app so you can easily monitor how much time you left to complete a task. You have to be conscious of your time.  And we encourage you to be obsessed. And by obsessing, we mean that you are going deep. You have to keep your eyes on the prize. You do everything to the best of your ability to get that prize.  Say NO to people who want to talk you down. - Patrick Allmond  (18:26 - 18:29)  In summary, you need to use the right language. Be committed. Use quantifiable numbers, timeframes, and dates. And accept that there are things that you do not know, but make sure to find ways to learn it.  About Patrick Allmond Patrick is a multi-decade entrepreneur, veteran, pilot, and ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX Contributor. Only Distracted Suckers Are Going to TikTok   "Facebook has a lot more cash sitting around than TikTok or Snapchat." - Patrick Allmond  We've seen a lot of people nowadays using TikTok. Even social media gurus swear that it's the next big thing. For business owners, should you jump into the bandwagon and create content in TikTok? Or should you stick with your current platform?  In this episode, we'll talk about the TikTok craze, our behavior with new social media platforms, and if we should use it for our business. Part One of Only Distracted Suckers Are Going to Tiktok  Most of us quickly get fascinated with some of the new social media sites out there. But let me remind you that this is just a cycle that we go through now and then. Remember, years ago, when we had Snapchat?   So one company will get the influx of money, develop an app that allows you to do animations on your face, or cool loops, and even silly GIFs. Naturally, people will flock to it insanely, and they will say that Facebook and YouTube are dead.  "Don't forget to focus on the stuff that works." - Patrick Allmond  Are they?  There's nothing new on TikTok that we haven't seen on Facebook. There's nothing new on Snapchat that Facebook doesn't do. What these other sites are doing is providing additional feature ideas to older sites like Facebook. Now, the developers from Facebook will quickly adopt these features to the platform. When that happens, the conversation is over.  Part Two of Only Distracted Suckers Are Going to Tiktok  Recently, a lot of people in my social feed talked about how to use TikTok for business versus using Facebook pages. But you know what, the key is to FOCUS. We have to focus on the core platforms. Things like Facebook pages and YouTube.  Do not get distracted by TikTok. Again, just focus.  Facebook is still effective for business because of its targeting features, and you have to take advantage of that.   You should still upload your content to different platforms. For example, you can do live videos and upload the same to YouTube. Have an MP3 version and turn it into a podcast.  "The best trick for content production is to press the red record button and start talking" - Patrick Allmond Lastly, do content production regularly. If you can do a live video on Facebook every single day, then do so. It doesn't matter if you have the equipment to shoot professional videos. All you need to do is click that record button and start talking. You can figure it out along the way.  About Patrick Allmond Patrick Allmond is a multi-decade entrepreneur, veteran, pilot, and ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX Contributor. Ever ask yourself what value you can bring to this world? What problems do you want to solve? Starting your own business can be thrilling, but there are many ways you can get your first business up and running. In case you don't have a clearly defined path yet, you're not reading this by accident. Some people know absolutely nothing but want to know something, and that's what you're here for. In this week's episode, Patrick Allmond talks about how you can start your first business. Part One of ‘How to Start Your First Business’ Calling yourself an entrepreneur, in general, doesn't tell the world much about what you do. First of all, having the mindset of what you can offer the world is crucial to getting started. Traditionally, it takes creating a business plan outline, sketching out everything, and how you're going to market. The process of planning has gone by the wayside. It may be true you have funding upfront or specific business models. But most of the people nowadays have no plan. Their business is on the back of a napkin, or they fall in the business accidentally.  You need a variation in your income. More often than not, the people that want to go into business for themselves are people who are stuck and set aside money. When the time is right, they start their business. Maybe they've got six months of income float. In this case, they are starting a business to get their income back. That is the way people usually start a business. “There are people who know absolutely nothing but want to know something.” — Patrick Allmond  If you have no idea what you want to start, but you know you want to start something, here's something to consider. There are so many skills and products in the world already. There's almost no new skill or product in the world.  Society is developing brand new cars and brand-new space vehicles. But there's nothing new under the sun. Imagine, you are somebody who wants to teach other people how to run a dog grooming business because you specialize in it. There are people out there who don't know anything about dog grooming, but they know what needs to be done to keep your dog healthy and safe.   There's bad knowledge for every skill set out there. Those people are sometimes more dangerous than the people that know nothing. People who have a basic grasp think they know a lot. They're doing it wrong. There are also advanced individuals who are excellent teachers and communicators. For example, if you've been doing dog grooming for a while, you're probably good at it. There are people out there who know a field remarkably well who are not necessarily really good communicators. Teaching, consulting, and speaking is separate skill sets from actually doing the task at hand. When you keep in mind what you want to do, these types of people could be your target market. There are many other people out there with business knowledge who are capable of sharing. You may be one of them. There's always somebody out there who wants to learn what you know. It doesn't have to be a lot of people for you to make a decent amount of money at it.   Think about the number of people in your city or your state. You could be a dog groomer that just focuses on a particular city or state, probably a particular city. You can make a killing at it because you don't need a lot of people. Often when people go into business, they think about having a huge audience and a vast customer base. You don't need that. Part Two of ‘How to Start Your First Business’ If you've been doing something longer than somebody else, that makes you one step ahead. If you have more knowledge than somebody, that person will pay you to teach them. Again, if you've been dog grooming for five years or even a year, you're halfway good at it. Now, it's time to come up with a way to sell this to somebody.  Don't try to label yourself as an ordinary dog groomer, but call yourself something that makes you stand out a little bit. Don't lump yourself in with everybody else who does the same thing. You must give your potential clients a real strong motivation to choose you.  For example, instead of calling yourself a dog groomer, you can call it a dog beautification service. When somebody calls you to inquire for your service, make the person over the phone realize that they're talking to someone different than an average dog groomer. They're talking with someone who cares about the animal, who cares about the process, and who has a great plan for them, with real outcomes. Trying to come up with the way where you label yourself is just a commodity. “Be careful about getting distracted by anything that seem to make a lot of money if they don't fulfill what you're meant to do.” —  Patrick Allmond  When you know what you're good at and how to make money, that's how you become an employee. Which is perfectly fine. When it comes to starting a business, please do not get distracted by easy money schemes online. Be careful about getting distracted by things that seem to make a lot of money. Especially if they don't align with something you want to do and what you're good at. Develop your branding, marketing, mission, and value statement before you sell anything.
