In this episode of The Career Flipper Podcast, host Jenny Dempsey chats with Victoria Tara, a Ukrainian-born contemporary artist based in Miami with a story that's full of heart, bold choices, and beautiful color (literally and figuratively).Victoria shares her journey of flipping from a career in psychology and real estate and interior design to becoming a full-time artist. She opens up about the inspiration behind her vibrant paintings, how spirituality and meditation shape her creative process, and why trusting yourself — even when it doesn't make logical sense — is everything. She reminds us that every single experience in life, even the ones that feel totally off-track, adds to the story and can help guide us to our true calling. Plus, she gets real about making time for creativity when life is busy, and shares practical tips for artists (and aspiring artists) trying to juggle it all. Victoria's story is a powerful reminder that art reflects healing, growth, and self-trust. Her career flip is rooted in deep personal exploration — and her words will resonate with anyone standing at the edge of something new and uncertain.Episode TakeawaysHow art can reflect personal healing and transformationWhy trusting yourself is key when making bold career movesHow meditation can enhance creativity and self-awarenessThe beauty of pulling inspiration from life's toughest momentsPractical ways to make time for art, even with a packed scheduleThat balancing multiple careers is not only possible — it can be powerfulThe role of spirituality in creating meaningful workWhy art is often just a natural expression of who we are Connect with VictoriaArt: https://www.victoriatara.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/victoria.tara.art Thanks for listening to The Career Flipper! If you enjoyed this episode, let's spread the word! Today, I'm sharing a recap of my experience and learning lessons from participating in my first-ever Member-Member Tournament. In this episode, I take you inside my very first member-member tournament at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club—a 63-hole gauntlet of match play, missteps, and mindset mastery. You'll hear firsthand stories of: hitting 12 fairways on day one (and what fell apart after that) navigating USGA match play rules I hadn't previously known the temptation to confront cheating—and how I chose to respond coaching my partner through his mental spiral mid-round laughing off bad shots to stay in the fight and how I learned to protect my energy from angry, frustrated playing partners If you're serious about developing mental toughness, emotional resiliency, and learning to perform under pressure, you'll take away more than a few insights from this candid tournament recap. I walk through what went well, what didn't, and the tangible mindset and skill improvements I'm now laser-focused on. And of course, I share how this entire experience translates beyond the course, too. This one's packed with real stories, practical lessons, and reminders to keep showing up, even when the conditions—and competition—get tough. Get your pencils ready and start listening. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Tournament Golf Exposes the Truth: The added pressure, emotion, and unpredictability of match play reveal where your mindset and game are truly at—and where they need to grow. Stay in the Fight—Always: Even after a bad shot or penalty, you're only one great swing away from turning the hole around. Never mentally check out. Control What You Can Control: You can't police every rule or correct every shady scorecard. What you can control is your attitude, effort, and energy. Your Emotional State Is Contagious: Whether it's your playing partner melting down or opponents bickering, you must protect your energy and stay anchored in your process. Audit Your Self-Talk and Body Language: The way you speak to yourself after a mistake either drains or fuels your next shot. Choose awareness over autopilot. Routine Is Your Reset Button: A consistent pre-shot routine was the anchor during high-pressure moments. When things go sideways, your routine keeps you grounded. Key Quotes: “You are not judge, jury, and executioner out there. Control your ball—and your response.” “Even when I hit a ball OB, I stayed in the fight. I didn't skip my routine. I didn't give up.” “Every missed shot is just an invitation to execute the next one better.” “Tournament golf just hits different—and I fucking loved it.” “You can't afford to leak energy worrying about things beyond your control.” “Pat's opponent lived rent-free in his head—and it cost him the round. Don't give away your power.” “I may not have played my best golf, but mentally, I showed up like a pro. And that's the foundation of what's coming next.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Introduction to Member Member Weekend 05:03: First Impressions and Initial Experiences 10:58: Learning the Rules of Match Play 15:01: Mental Resilience and Self-Talk 20:34: Tournament Golf: The Thrill of Competition 24:47: Navigating the Course Challenges 27:28: Lessons from Competitive Play 29:45: Staying Committed to the Process 32:14: Managing Emotions and Energy on the Course 35:49: The Importance of Team Dynamics 38:18: Reclaiming Your Power 40:05: Identifying Areas for Improvement 44:54: Reflecting on the Experience

Thank you for tuning in to episode 373 of The Everyday Life Balance Show. I'm Pascale Gibon, your host. I hope you had a warm and joyful Christmas filled with love, laughter, and meaningful moments shared with your family and friends. It feels almost surreal to say this, but here we are, just days away from the end of another year. How quickly the time has flown! As we prepare to step into 2025, I invite you to embrace a beautiful practice that allows us to start fresh, filled with purpose and clarity. But before we do that, it's so important to pause, reflect, and honour the journey we've been on this year. Let's take a moment to assess 2024 and glean the lessons it has gifted us. What's Your Greatest Takeaway from 2024? Let's start with this gentle question: What is the best thing you will carry with you from 2024? It might be a lesson, a relationship, a personal victory, or even a newfound sense of peace or resilience. Whatever it is, cherish it, as it has become part of the fabric of who you are. For me, 2024 revealed something significant: I thrive best within a clear and intentional structure. Without it, I find my energy scattering in too many directions. Following a clear structure was a powerful realization that reinforced how much I value creating order and flow in my life. What about you? What has 2024 revealed to you about how you operate at your best? Your Breakthroughs Now, let's look at your personal growth. What has been your most significant breakthrough this year? What lessons have deepened your self-awareness and helped you grow into the person you are today? These breakthroughs are the milestones of your inner journey. Perhaps you've realized the importance of setting boundaries or discovered a new passion or strength you didn't know you had. Honour these moments of clarity; they are precious. Incompletes: What Needs Carrying Over? It's also valuable to ask ourselves: Do you have any incompletes? These are the tasks, projects, or goals you started but didn't finish. Life gets busy, and not everything unfolds the way we hope. But that's okay. The question now is, which of these incompletes still feel meaningful and worthy of carrying forward into 2025? And which ones can we lovingly release, knowing they no longer serve us? Remember, a new year is a beautiful opportunity for reinvention. Let's choose what we carry forward with care and intention, ensuring it aligns with the person we're becoming. Reflecting on Your 2024 Achievements Next, let's review your year through the lens of achievement. Have you reached the goals you set at the start of 2024? Or perhaps, like me, you've made progress but haven't entirely checked everything off your list. That's perfectly okay, too. The most significant gift of this year for me, in terms of achievement, has been gaining greater clarity about my next steps. Even if I haven't achieved every goal, I've stayed committed to the path. And that, beautiful soul, is what truly matters. Success is not about perfection but the progressive realization of a worthy goal. And if you've stayed the course, even when others might have given up, you've already achieved something extraordinary. Dreaming Boldly For 2025 Now, let's turn our hearts and minds to the future. What are your dreams for 2025? I encourage you to dream boldly and without limits. Set aside any fears, doubts, or lack of confidence. Imagine, just for a moment, that you have all the power you need to make your dreams come true. What does your greatest dream for 2025 look like? I already have a few dreams in my heart, and I'm sure you do, too. Now is a good time to make the most of this sacred time to reflect and envision what's possible. You are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for. Final Thoughts As we close the chapter on 2024, I encourage you to approach the new year with an open heart and a renewed sense of purpose. Take the lessons, leave behind the doubts, and embrace the possibilities that await you. Thank you for journeying with me through another year of The Everyday Life Balance Show. Your presence means the world to me, and I can't wait to see what we'll create together in 2025. Until then, take care of yourself, celebrate your growth, and dream boldly. I'm sending you lots of love and light. Have a fabulous New Year's Eve celebration!

In this episode, Brenda Salter McNeil discusses the long-term work required for Christians to repair broken systems and heal communities. Brenda shares about her journey into racial reconciliation work and how she came to see reconciliation and reparations as two sides of the same coin. We talk about the importance of listening to understand issues of those most affected, getting proximate to communities through relationships, and organizing diverse coalitions to identify shared concerns rather than coming with outside solutions. Brenda emphasizes staying committed to this work through practices like lament as well as self-care to prevent burnout. Our hope is for the church to reimagine what it means to follow Jesus by embodying his call to justice, flourishing for all people, and representing the kingdom vision of every tribe and nation together as God's people on earth. Join us as we discover how to repair broken systems and mend communities. Rev. Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil is a dynamic speaker, teacher, author and reconciliation leader! Addiction Unlimited Podcast | Alcoholism | Life Coach | Living Sober | 12 Steps
Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to step into the unknown, and commit to sobriety 100%? In a world where drinking, and over-indulging are often front and center, it's easy to feel that way. You know firsthand how difficult it is to step into this process, make a decision to quit drinking, then figure out how to stick to that decision on a daily basis, figuring out how and where to get help, with the constant anxiety of, what will my family say, how will I ever have fun again, are my friends going to ditch me, am I really never going to drink again??? No one truly understands the pressure of sobriety like you and I because we live it. And if you're a partner, and a parent, there are added pressures and anxieties that can feel too big to overcome. But, you've heard me say this before – if I can do this, I promise you, you can, too. And today, you're going to spend a lot of time nodding your head in agreement as you hear this story. She's a wife, she's smart, was a business owner and always high-functioning, and a super-mom. And, like so many of us, she realized she was using alcohol as a coping mechanism because she didn't have the necessary coping skills to deal with all the daily life challenges. She struggled to find help and support - devastated by the thought of leaving her family and kids to go to inpatient treatment, feeling uncomfortable with traditional support groups because of past religion trauma, and she knew she needed a private, personalized solution to help her figure out how to stay sober on a daily basis. You'll hear Kari C. talk about how she found her perfect program, and also how she came to understand that it's okay to take pieces from different programs and do your recovery your way. She'll also tell you how she got through: Feeling selfish, as a mom, taking time away from her family for herself Realizing how important it is to take care of herself Finding the right support for her personal recovery plan And understanding how important it is to manage anxiety on a daily basis So, how did she find the strength to take action, and get help? You're about to hear every detail with all the ups and downs, in this episode.
