The Catholic Money Show from WalletWin

We made a hard decision in 2025 that will radically change our family's 2026—and it didn't come out of nowhere. In this episode of The Catholic Money Show, we walk through how annual planning has shaped our family's biggest decisions over the years, from homeschooling to schooling, from time stewardship to major life pivots. We share how our yearly “dream date” and planning rhythm helped us notice when something that once worked was no longer bearing good fruit—and gave us the clarity and courage to change course. This conversation is about learning how to step back, examine the fruit of your decisions, and discern where God may be inviting you to stay the course—or make a shift—in the year ahead. If you've ever felt stuck in the status quo, unsure whether a good thing is still the right thing, this episode will help you think through annual planning with honesty, faith, and intention.

Today I’m sharing one of my favourite end-of-year practices - choosing a word of the year for next year. It sounds so simple, but truly… one word can become your anchor. It can guide the way you plan, the habits you build, and the decisions you say yes (or no) to in 2026. And because life gets busy (and sometimes a little noisy), I love having something I can come back to - a word that gently brings me home to what matters. In this episode, I’ll walk you through how to choose your own word, how to use it, and why it’s such a supportive gift you can give yourself as you step into a new year. Here are three takeaways you can expect: Why your word matters (and how it becomes your “lens” for the year ahead). The simple questions that make your word rise up clearly - without pressure. How to use your word as a filter for planning, prioritising, and decision-making. And if you want extra support, here's a link to a free printable PDF with 100 words you can choose from. Plan Your Year in Sync With Astrology at MindfulNewYear.comMany people imagine a spiritual awakening as a peaceful, bliss-filled experience. In reality, it often begins with discomfort, questioning, and unexpected emotional shifts. In this episode, Jeremy Devons shares five surprising signs that you may be going through a spiritual awakening. He breaks down how physical pain, depression, anxiety, and emotional extremes can actually be signals that something deeper is shifting in your inner world. You'll learn how awakening often shows up through misalignment, the messages held in the body, and why these challenging moments can guide you toward clarity, purpose, and a more aligned path. This perspective can help you understand what's happening beneath the surface and how to move through these changes with more compassion and awareness.Key Points Summary- Spiritual awakening is the moment you become conscious of something you were previously “asleep” to.- Awakening usually begins through discomfort rather than bliss.- Pain acts as a message that something in your life is out of alignment.- Ignored pain often escalates into emotional extremes like depression or anxiety.- Depression arises when the nervous system collapses into a “down” state.- Panic/anxiety arises when the nervous system gets stuck in an “on” state.- Both are invitations to slow down and look within.- Physical symptoms often mirror emotional or spiritual misalignment.- Personal healing unfolds in layers and may take years, but each stage brings insight.- The body holds memories, patterns, and unresolved emotions that surface during awakening. If you're in a season of change or questioning, you don't have to navigate it alone. LIVE Workshop to Plan Your Year in Sync with Astrology at mindfulnewyear.comUntangling your past with Vedic astrology begins with understanding your dashas. In this episode, I walk you through how to look at your own timeline, what was unfolding behind the scenes, and how each planetary period shaped the person you've become. This is one of the most practical ways to use Jyotish: making sense of where you've been so you can move forward with clarity and confidence. You'll hear how your ascendant, moon, sun, dasha sequence, and even your D9 chart weave together into a story. I share real examples from charts I've studied over the years, along with patterns I've seen repeat thousands of times. If you've ever wondered why certain chapters of your life felt intense, confusing, or transformative, this episode will give you a grounded way to understand those shifts.4 key ideas from the episode:The dasha you're born into sets the tone of your childhood and early development.Dashas unfold like fruit becoming ripe; each period activates specific karmas.Your D9 chart shows what you grow into as you mature.Interpreting your past requires looking at the whole chart, not a single planet or headline. If you want to explore this deeper, you can get your chart and the dasha timeline at quietmindastrology.com/freebirthchart. How to Make 2025 Your Breakthrough Year

As we sit on the cusp of a new year, it's natural to reflect on what we've achieved and where we've fallen short. But this isn't just about looking back—it's about deciding how you want to move forward. What if the secret to your success wasn't doing more, but doing less? In this episode, I'm challenging you to adopt a mindset shift for 2025: commit to less, grow more. Let's explore why this works, how to implement it, and how you can build the business you've always dreamed of while working smarter, not harder. 1. Why “Less Is More” Works The temptation to do it all is strong. We feel like we need to spread ourselves thin across platforms, projects, and ideas to ensure we're covering all our bases. But often, this approach leads to burnout and stagnation. When you focus your energy on a singular goal or area, you: Create clarity in your business direction. Do higher-quality work in less time. See faster, more consistent growth. The Plan: Commit to less for 90 days. Focus on one area of your business—whether it's blogging, YouTube, or social media—and double down. Watch as your progress takes off. 2. Plan Your Year with Intention A successful year starts with a solid plan. Here's how to get started: Fill in your personal calendar first. Mark vacations, birthdays, and self-care days. These are non-negotiables. Dedicate specific time blocks to work. Limit your work hours to increase focus and productivity. Use a content planner. My 52-Week Content Planner for Creatives is designed to keep you consistent and organized. Pro Tip: When your work time is limited, you'll naturally prioritize tasks that move the needle instead of getting stuck in busywork. 3. Identify Your Zone of Genius Every successful entrepreneur has a “zone of genius”—the tasks that come naturally and energize them. To identify yours: Think about what you love doing and could excel at for free. Ask yourself: What do others frequently compliment me on? Consider what feels effortless compared to other parts of your business. Once you've identified your zone of genius, hire out the rest. Yes, even if you're on a tight budget. Sell unused items, cut unnecessary expenses, or find creative ways to fund outsourcing tasks that drain your energy. 4. Commit to Being #1 (Even If It's Just in Your Mind) Ask yourself: What would it take to be number one in my chosen niche or platform? How would you spend your time? Who would you need to network with? What skills or knowledge would you need to acquire? Visualizing this level of excellence helps you create a roadmap for your daily and weekly habits. You don't have to be the best—but working as though you're striving for the top will transform your business. 5. Join a Community for Accountability Making big changes alone can feel daunting. That's why I created Fuel, a mastermind group designed to help you: Stay accountable to your goals. Get real-time feedback from like-minded entrepreneurs. Build the confidence to grow your business strategically. Details: Fuel launches in January! Join us for expert insights, peer support, and a roadmap to success in 2025. Sign up here. Closing Thoughts 2025 can be your year to grow—not by doing more, but by committing to less. This shift won't just benefit your business; it'll help you reclaim your time, energy, and creativity. Ready to commit to less and grow more? Then Fuel is for you! This exclusive mastermind group will provide monthly coaching, accountability, and peer support to help you achieve your blogging goals. Join the Waitlist: Be among the first to know when Fuel opens. Begin with the end in mind. You've probably heard this advice before, but I want it to be your mantra this school year! One of the best things you can do at the beginning of a new school year is to plan your year. I've talked on the podcast before about using organizational tools, such as a calendar, to give you a visual of your year and showcase all the good things you're doing as a counselor. So, in today's episode, I'm sharing why you need to plan your year with a 10,000-foot view and the benefits it has on your year's success. You know how busy you are as a high school counselor and the many directions you're being pulled throughout the year, which is one of the many reasons you should plan your year at the beginning of the school year. And while keeping track of your tasks helps with scheduling, there's more to your job than just administrative tasks. By taking the time to plan your year, you're also able to add events and tasks that fill your cup. After all, you got into this profession because you love it and want to fill your year with things you enjoy doing that serve your students and your counseling program!Although it may feel overwhelming to think about planning an entire year, by doing so, you avoid missing anything important, can think about the goals you have, and can schedule events and tasks that bring you joy as a high school counselor. ViAs we start this year, each of us is in different circumstances. I rebel against anyone with a "one size fits all" plan that works for everybody. Each of us has a different approach to life and planning. As I do my planning, I spend time learning from others. You can also plan your year in a new way as I share what I do. Over the past twenty years, I've created an annual planning system that works well for me. For the first time, I've put together a podcast sharing how I plan my year, along with some free forms you can use to plan your year. In this podcast, I include 28+ questions I ask myself each year. How I used two one-page forms to review last year, and I plan to change everything this year. A "time budgeting" spreadsheet that helps me make a big-picture time budget for the year. I also describe how I modify and improve my plan for the year as I grapple with life's hard questions. You can download these forms at www.coolcatteacher.com/annualplan. I will also send these to subscribers in my following newsletter after the release of this show. Show Sponsor: Edge U Badges - Edge U Badges from Forward Edge is a fantastic micro credentialing program for teachers, administrators, and school staff. In this program, you can earn contact hours or graduate credit. With the ISTE Seal of Alignment, this program is approved by many districts as a flexible, personalized way for teachers to learn and grow. They will work with you to help your district accept your transcript for licensure renewal hours. Edge U Badges has former teachers review every single badge within 1-3 business days of submission, and no badge is ever denied without very specific feedback on what you can do to resubmit successfully or positive feedback on successful submissions. This is a program that I'm reviewing for my own renewal that comes up this year and I'm excited about their micro-credentialing system, which is why I'm recommending it to you!  Use the code COOLCAT for $20 off a premium account.   Disclosure of Material Connection: This is a “sponsored podcast episode.” The company who sponsored it compensated me via cash payment, gift, or something else of value to include a reference to their product. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I believe will be good for my readers and are from companies I can recommend. This week I'm giving you a simple, 5-step process to help make 2024 the best year your business has ever had. Of course, I said "simple"...not easy. The toughest pill for most business owners to swallow is this: You probably need to stop doing 20-50% of what you're doing right now. In other words, take a look at 2023 and figure out what things gave you the least ROI. What things took the most of your resources and returned anything less than "worth it". That's the prep work...Listen to get my 5-step plan. Key Insights Stop doing the things that don't produce a good return on your time and efforts Plan Your Year Plan your time off (commit!) Plan for the things you can't control (holidays, etc.) Plan your content schedule Plan your promotional schedule Setup accountability and guidance for you as the leader (e.g. a coach or mentor) Links The Copywriting Academy Live 2024 - As a listener of my podcast, you have earned a free invitation to experience my flagship training, live, with no investment other than your time and attention.
