A conversation about pain, disappointment, and friendship with God with Faith Eury ChoWORSHIPING IN THE WILDERNESSIt wasn't until late in 2022 that one little story in David's narrative stuck out to me. I was going through my own wilderness season, and had been for about a year and a half when I read it.When King David was returning to the wilderness in 2 Samuel 15 on his way into exile from his son Absalom who had taken over his kingdom, he paused. He paused to let everyone who was traveling with him (over 600 men and their families to pass by him), while Abiathar the priest made sacrifices. Wow.Y'all. This is powerful. It shows us that we can keep worshiping, even when we are on the way into a wilderness season, and all of our options feel heavy and impossible to navigate.I don't know whether you are coming out of a wilderness season, feeling like you're on the way into the wilderness or somewhere in between, but the one thing we learn from David is that the wilderness does not dictate our ability to worship the Lord in everything. This week, we continue to reflect on some of the themes in Session Five of Selah: Worship Invites Resilience in the Wilderness.TODAY WE'RE REFLECTING ON JAMES 1:5-6 ESV:If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.A WOMAN YOU SHOULD KNOWToday, Ty and I get ready to close out this season by featuring one woman who has impacted both of us. We've all walked through our seasons of wilderness. Seasons where you felt lonely, angry, and abandoned. You've wondered if anyone sees you. Does God even see you? Friends, what if those seasons of wilderness weren't about thinking you were abandoned by God, but instead designed for you to grow in intimacy and friendship with God? On today's show Faith Eury Cho challenges our way of thinking about the wilderness as she shares her own season of anger and discouragement. Faith Eury Cho has been a preacher since she was 19-years-old. Alongside her husband David, Faith co-founded and co-pastors Mosaic Covenant Church of NJ. In addition, she is the founder and CEO of The Honor Summit, a nonprofit organization that activates Asian American women for the mission of God. The Joyful Mourning - A Podcast for Women Who Have Experienced Pregnancy or Infant Loss
This week on the podcast I am honored to be talking with Emily Stangl about her experience navigating marriage after losing her daughter Tilly. We talk about the challenges she and her husband faced and how they worked through, and are working, through those challenges. Emily shares the ways she grieves differently than her husband and what that practically looks like in their marriage as well as the role that self care played in their healing individually and also as a couple. Emily shares with me all the beautiful ways that she and her husband grieve together and individually, but not only that, she also shares with me how they parent Tilly, their first and only child, now that she is in heaven. Emily gives such practical and intentional and beautiful ways of doing this and I am sure that it will give you freedom in finding ways to mother and parent your baby in heaven too. We also talk about what it looks like to support a grieving dad, especially when he's different from you and what it looks like to compromise for the sake of grieving together. Former cheerleader Leah had her twins, Ali and Aleeah Grace, when she was just 17 years old. From a small town in West Virginia, Leah sacrificed a lot for her kids, and things got even harder when Ali was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy. Leah tried to make things work for her daughters by marrying their dad, Corey, but they divorced six months later. Leah moved on to her second husband, Jeremy, with whom she had daughter Adalynn, but Jeremy's job forced him to be away for long stretches of time, and he eventually filed for divorce. After a few rough years, Leah's co-parenting relationships with both dads are finally in a good place. And after years of working on herself and owning her past substance use disorder, Leah is ready to try love again with her new boyfriend Jaylan. On top of navigating a new relationship with three daughters, Leah and Jaylan -- who lives eight hours away -- struggle to get to know each other while dating long-distance. When Jaylan is finally able to move closer, will their dynamic change?

Today we chat about our in-laws and how we not only handle that relationship personally but also how we make it an enjoyable experience for our partner as well. We chat about some conflicts and how we approach those as a team and how adding Adalynn has caused more changes. We even dip into holidays and how to do what is best for your family.
