Referring to someone as a rock star usually means they're excellent at what they do. Dave “The Beast” Spitz is a rock star lawyer in south Florida. Sure, he's a really good lawyer, but he's also an actual rock star. Prior to going to law school in 1996, Dave played bass for the legendary band that invented heavy metal: Black Sabbath. His journey through the music industry also included playing with other well-known bands including Great White, Impellitteri, White Lion and Americade. He even appeared in a movie with Tom Hanks. Despite all the trappings of rock stardom – recording with music legends, playing in front of sellout crowds around the world, and experiencing musical success at the highest levels – The Beast needed something more out of his career, so he actually declined an opportunity with a band that's sold millions of albums so he could become a lawyer. This extended Second Act Stories interview includes plenty stories about The Beast's music career and his decision to launch his law career, and it paints a vivid picture of the motivation that drives such a surprising life-changing decision.

The first Americade rally, then called Aspencade East, was held in 1983 on the scenic shores of Lake George, nestled in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. Have You Heard About the Apple No iPhones on Motorcycles Warning ?   What are your resources for buying aftermarket gear?  What do you think of horns?  Who would you get one from? Have you heard of ? Are you going to Ocean City Bike Fest?     Support the show:                 Apple Warns Riders Not To Mount iPhones On Their Motorcycles Bike vibrations can apparently wreck iPhone cameras. Who needs navigation, anyway?     Sep 13, 2021 at 11:31am ET By: Janaki Jitchotvisut   On September 10, 2021, Apple published a new support bulletin advising many late-model iPhone users against mounting their devices on motorbikes. What's the reason? To quote the document directly, “exposing your iPhone to high amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges, specifically those generated by high-power motorcycle engines, can degrade the performance of the camera system.”       The language is, shall we say, somewhat imprecise. For example, Apple doesn't give any clue as to the specific frequency ranges involved, nor what it defines as a “high-power motorcycle engine.” It's worth bearing in mind that in some countries around the world, bikes over 400cc are considered to be “big bikes,” whereas other countries like the U.S. seem to think that anything under 1,000cc is small. Actual numbers are helpful when you're an international company seeking to address the needs of many and various groups of people.  Still, maybe Apple wasn't all that concerned about that lack of specificity, because it went on to recommend that iPhone owners probably shouldn't use them on smaller-engined two-wheelers either, such as mopeds or scooters. The exact wording there is, “attaching your iPhone to vehicles with small-volume or electric engines, such as mopeds and , may lead to comparatively lower-amplitude vibrations, but if you do so a vibration dampening [sic] mount is recommended to lessen the risk of damage to your iPhone and its optical image stabilization (OIS) and autofocus (AF) systems.”    It then goes on to add that “It is also recommended to avoid regular use for prolonged periods to further lessen the risk of damage.” Again, what constitutes “prolonged periods” and/or “regular use”? Tell riders you want them to cease using iPhones on all types of motorbikes without telling riders you want them to cease using iPhones on all types of motorbikes, Apple. Sheesh.   What iPhone models are affected? MacRumors, which first spotted the new support document, adds that the OIS and closed-loop AF systems that Apple cites as potentially being negatively impacted by motorcycle vibrations have been in use from the iPhone 7 forward. Additionally, the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus also make use of these systems.   Now, riders who are also iPhone users have brought up problems they've had pertaining to this issue on forums in the past. However, this September 2021 support document from Apple is the first statement the company has officially made about it. It's not clear why it's making this statement at this exact moment in time. In any case, that's clearly going to frustrate a large number of people who use their iPhones for , music, and just the general fact of modern life in 2021.   Sources: , , ,

The FBI has come out now and given a worldwide alert and we've got to be really careful with this because the problem is that the routers that we're using for our homes, and unfortunately many small businesses are using these home routers as well. Those routers are compromised, many of them with a whole bunch of Russian software, that is taking your data and is sending it all the way out or actually to Russia. Today in Russia they are looking at it for bank account information, credit card information, personal information. So, you've got to replace these things. I've had a lot of our listeners have reached out to me on my text number. I gave out a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned the ORBI, you might remember you can get that right now. Best Buy has the best price on it. That's ORBI. You can get it on Amazon. And one of our listeners was concerned because looking at the reviews on Amazon there were a lot of complaints about the ORBI that come up right at the top of the reviews. However, the ORBI device is a great little router and if you look at it the reviews chronologically it's fantastic. : [00:02:54] They had a problem about a year and a half ago with some other firmware that's been pretty much fixed now so the ORBI is what I'm recommending people to replace their home routers. Now, if you have a router from your Internet service provider they are taking care of this problem. If you bought an aftermarket router that's when the problems start coming up and that's when you really should look at replacing it was something new. That’s because there's probably not new firmware to fix this problem. It's absolutely huge. It's devastating. We still haven't really begun to see the fallout from this. But make sure you reboot your router at least weekly for now, and go ahead and replace it. And I'm going to be sending more information to people and explaining things, but have a good look at that ORBI router and it will make a difference for you. Big difference. It's a scary world. : [00:03:52] Speaking of scary worlds, is it possible to be addicted to getting cryptocurrencies. Should I be afraid of, you know, buying them going forward? : [00:04:04] Yes, it is. It's interesting because I've got a couple articles on that this week in my newsletter. But the problem that we're finding is that people are getting kind of a gambler's addiction to buying cryptocurrencies and it's becoming such a problem that we're starting to see not only doctors talking about it but it could end up being something that gets into the AMA standards as well. Cryptocurrency addiction. The other thing that is happening right now with cryptocurrencies is that we've got a problem with background checks and security. You know, if you have a clearance from the federal government, you have an FBI background check, that is required for working, for instance, down at the shipyard and you bought cryptocurrencies. They're saying now that that could be a big mark against you when it's time to get a background check to renew your security clearance. And the reason why is they're saying that with cryptocurrencies they are so frequently used by the black hats, by the bad guys, the criminals, that they may take that cryptocurrency that you have and count it against you thinking that you may be doing illicit things online. That’s because you can use a cryptocurrency to buy drugs, not just marijuana but all the hard stuff, like fentanyl and other things. you can use that cryptocurrency for all kinds of illicit transactions. So are cryptocurrencies back in the news this week and one of the big warnings is the federal government has not made a standard yet but a lot of people within the review board are saying cryptocurrencies are a big mark against you if you have to have a security clearance.  : [00:05:58] Craig Peterson is our tech guru he joins us every Wednesday at 738. Craig, I use cruise control all the time, now I don't have I don't have a fiat. I have a Honda Ridgeline, so, I am kind of safe but, I mean can things go bad with cruise control? Let‘s talk about your Honda for a second.  : [00:06:27] These newer cars including the Honda, In fact, I had to send a thing to my mom about the Honda and how these keys that you don't have to put into the ignition. Right. You just keep them with you. Right. A lot of people tend to leave them in the car or when they lock the car in the garage. And what the problem that we're seeing now is that people are dying because of that. And here's why. Can get them a little key flaw that you have for your Honda. And this isn't just a Honda problem. But if you take it with you even into the house it can be close enough to the car that the car sinks. OK can't hear or see is nearby. And if you forgot to shut off the engine which is you know you look at our generation we've been turning off the key for how many decades right. And now you have to hit that button to shut it off. So, they forget the shut off the engine and that engine keeps running. And what's been happening is people getting been getting brain damage and even dying from the carbon monoxide to creep in from the garage into the house because the car's still running, and we don't know about it. So, a real word of warning here to all of our listeners. This is picking on Honda, I am just picking on Ken. So, because of that problem we'd be very, very, careful especially it's been hitting the older population. Now back to the original thing you're mad about the cruise controls guys. Matt and Kim here's what's going on.  : [00:08:03] The Chrysler Corporation you remember last fall I think it was October or so we were talking about a problem with Chrysler's and how the software in that car could be manipulated so that someone could remotely drive the car and drive it into the ditch. Do you remember that? It was in the news. Yeah, Well now the latest is that there is a bug and Chrysler Fiat. They are warning people that have their cars double checked your model number and I have a list of them up on my Web site that are known to be effective. I should say but be careful because some other cars can in certain situations and it has already happened people. If you have the cruise control on it will not disengage. You can get a break. You can hit the cruise control off button and the cruise control will stay on. So if you're going down the pike at 70 miles an hour that engines going to keep trying to go down the pike at 70 miles an hour. Now if it happens to you, thing to do is STAND on had brakes, because the brakes are designed to overpower the engine and that engine still going to be going, going, like crazy. Get over to the side of the road. After to coming to a full stop and then put the car in park. OK. So Important safety tip for Chrysler Fiat owners out there, cruise control on some of the vehicles can in certain conditions decide it is not going to shut off. : [00:09:40] So contact your dealer they'll have a fix available for you they can let you know if your car is affected or you can do some searches online. The joys of technology you guys. We are talking about Cruise control. Not even autonomous vehicles. I'm just so concerned about the future frankly. : [00:10:01] We're talking to Craig Peters on our tech guru who joins us at this time every Wednesday. CRAIG My final question for you what exactly is a pink-collar job and why is social media one of them.  : [00:10:13] Yeah that's an interesting thing right because we know all the jobs that women tend to move towards and men tend to move towards other jobs. It's turned out that social media for businesses is a job that has been attracting almost exclusively women. And it's a decent job you can do look from home depending on the job position of course. But it's been called the pink-collar job because when it comes to social media it's really been a woman's world. And I've got to mention one more thing if you want to know where the Internet is only Mary Meeker every year puts out her slides. She is brilliant. If you are an investor you've got to check her she's got her 2018 Internet trend report out. And, of course she does mention a little bit about pink-collar in there. But she talks about everything it's almost 300 pages of slides. It's incredible amount of data very dense. But it's everything from people buying online what kinds of devices they're using. We reach saturation e-commerce versus brick and mortar. Hey, it's your business. Check it out. I've got it up on my Web site as well. This is her 2018 internet trends report and it is really the standard bearer when it comes to trying to figure out what's coming our way online.   : [00:11:42] All right, Craig Peterson our tech guru joins us at this time every Wednesday. Appreciate you joining us sir. We will talk to you again next week.  : [00:11:49] A gentleman. Take care.  : [00:11:50] Thank you very much sir. All right.   --- Don't miss any episode from Craig. Welcome back to this weeks episode of Throttled.  We had a great time with this little motorcycle podcast this week.  Both Kevin and Larry got some riding in, here are the details. Larry-Wednesday, 76 mile roundtrip to club meeting through traffic, Thursday ride to Talbott Motorcycle Museum in Castro Valley-a real treat! (280 round trip on Rever) Saturday, Poker run ride at Mt. Diablo H-D, another 160 or so. Great weather, beautiful roads, and a few other Switchbacks that I saw (2 others out of maybe 125 bikes) Brian Hunnicut invited me to a cornering class at the Little 99 raceway in Stockton, later this month, which I signed up for. Still having trouble imagining me circling the race track on my Harley Switchback. Could remove the windshield and bags, but I really think I want to practice with the bike as I usually ride it. Kevin was able to ride out and attend a local demo day for Indian this past week.  Here is what he rode and his impressions: Springfield Scout RoadMaster DarkHorse Springfield – same engine nice pull, comfortable ride easy to handle, not crazy about handlebar position for my size, same cramped riding position for those 5’11 and taller Scout – Doesn’t feel as small as it is, fun bike, instant power but sluggish top end. Hit the rev limiter earlier than I thought, Fun to ride handles great, wonderful around town or back road local ride bike. RoadMaster — much like the Springfield, liked the handlebar position much better since the bars were in front of me. Side Note – they had a Chieftain with Mini Apes, very comfortable to sit on, was able to take it around the block between rides and I liked the handle bar position the best, seemed to open up the cockpit for the upper body. DarkHorse – I liked this bike the best, Handling of the Springfield great feel, seemed to have a little more shake in the bike, not a ton just not as smooth at idle. Gave me more of a visceral connection to the bike. Ranking the bikes. Scout, DarkHorse, RoadMaster, Springfield After thought : Kevin would love to try a Darkhorse or RoadMaster with Mini Apes on a true test ride. Review:KTM 390 Duke Retread:Pikes peak live broadcast. Recall:Ducati Multistrada Enduro Paddock: American flat track Phoenix Bryan Smith pulled it out in the last 1 1/2 laps to beat Brad Baker, Jared Mees came in third, but admitted he had a hard time keeping up with the two race leaders. This makes another Indian clean sweep. Harley was barely in the race, with only one race rider, Jake Johnson, who crashed out.

Regardless, we are going and have a week of amazing activities planned.  Lots of food to eat and a boatload of miles to put in.  We will be doing short podcasts from our hotel room and hope to get some good interviews. The bike spec comparisons of the week were nothing less than amazing.  We had the KTM Super Adventure, Indian Scout, Keanu Reeves' ARCH KRGT-1 and the Can-Am Spyder FS.  We even talked the Polaris Slingshot for a short time too.  Great bikes to look over and get an idea of what the rest of the world is doing.More than all of that.... a huge tip of the helmet from the Motorcycle Men to all of our service men and women past, present and future who serve our great nation and have served.  We owe you nothing less than our eternal gratitude for the sacrifice of your lives for our great nation. And of course a sincere thank you to all of our fans and friends who take the time to listen to our nutty show.  Thank you.See you all at Americade next week!!Ride Safe!Ted Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=zPl7v5FjoO6fCov5rwbFo35sxmoOIUqUhcR1q1UVtP34xAVolJzW0aJ6GNSdljsPAT4MC0&fromUL=true&country.x=US&locale.x=en_US)

Hello and welcome to the long awaited Episode #11 of Motorcycle Men.  In this Episode, Tim talks Jerky, Chris has a rant and I sing the praises of the Harley Davidson V-Rod.Yes, we are back after a week off and a week at the Americade Motorcycle Rally in Lake George, NY.  We attended the 33rd running of this wonderful rally in a beautiful area of New York that opens its arms the motorcycle community.  And what a week it was.Naturally our expectations were much higher than our ability to meet them and we planned far more than we could ever hope to achieve without being cloned. Suffice to say we wore ourselves out and only managed a scant portion of the activities that are available to the normal Americader.  We cruised, we ate, we walked, we rode, we walked some more, we ate more and we spent a lot of money. So enjoy this long 2-hour episode and get your fill of the Americade experience and hopefully you too will be so taken by this episode that you too will find yourself at the rally next year.  Most certainly, we will be there again.Peace and all that,Ride safe kidsTed Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=zPl7v5FjoO6fCov5rwbFo35sxmoOIUqUhcR1q1UVtP34xAVolJzW0aJ6GNSdljsPAT4MC0&fromUL=true&country.x=US&locale.x=en_US)

Welcome to Episode 6In this Episode, Tim relaxes, Chris talks about his vagina and I talks stats.Although we didn't have a guest this week, we still had plenty to talk about and a lot to cover. This round of senseless blabber was about the upcoming ride, the roads we'd be on and where we were going to stop for food. We also discussed some BMW's, compared Harley, Indian and Victory stats plus reviewed some website stats of our very own. We picked a new song of the week and reviewed the stats of the last song we picked.  Once again, Americade discussion came up and with just about 4 weeks to go, we are pretty excited and some of us are getting prepared and some of us not so much.Visit the website at www.motorcyclemen.us and our facebook page and our twitter page....links are on our front page. Our first official episode and we ran long.... way long.  So long that it has to be two parts because it's too good to not play the whole thing.  Great conversation and entertaining.  We covered lots of ground. The lovely winter weather, lousy road conditions, the bikes, some back stories, our gear, our little quirks, the food stops and the trips there, the little jaunts and the long ones, the ride song of the week, the long planned trip to Americade 2015 and a host of other cool stuff. Here's links to some of the gear we talked about.Firstgear Thermo one-piece Motorcycle Riding suithttp://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/36/i/firstgear-thermo-one-piece-suitEeze Source Waterproof Motorcycle Touring Baghttp://www.ebay.com/itm/HARLEY-SOFTAIL-SPORTSTER-WATERPROOF-HARD-SISSY-T-BAR-BARREL-BAG-2PC-DD29-/180973141158?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2a22d6fca6Harley-Davidson Gauntlet Gloveshttp://www.harley-davidson.com/store/windshielder-gauntlet-gloves2 x 2 Cycles Motorcycle Bike Rackshttp://2x2cycles.com/If I missed anything..... OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER WEBSITE: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com PODCAST-In this episode we dive into the true life story of a very remarkable Law Abiding Biker.  Paul Pelland, also known as "Long Haul Paul", has a truly amazing story and he shares everything with me in this interview. You won't want to miss this biker podcast episode of true inspiration and dedication.  I learned that Paul Pelland is an absolute machine and force to be reckoned with in spite of the fact that in 2005 he was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). He didn't let that stop him from being a biker and he made it his life's mission to ride his motorcycle a million miles in his fight to bring awareness to MS.  It is called "Paul Pelland's Endless Road Tour".  In addition, he is driving efforts to raise money for MS research and to find a cure! The inaugural 2013 MS5000 ride was a great successful fundraiser.  45 riders collectively rode 200,000 miles while raising $23,000 for Multiple Sclerosis.  Anyone can enter the MS5000 event and you ride the miles you can to support the National MS Society. The reason for this Law Abiding Biker Podcast Episode is because of a loyal listener's email.  He made me aware of Paul Pelland and his mission.  I want to thank Quentin Lewis of Leicester, MA for the following email: "You probably don't know me (except for some dumb comments on FB as one of your podcast listeners), but I wanted to introduce you to Paul Pelland, known as "Long Haul Paul", because he was an Iron Butt rally guy in a prior life.....I say prior life because that was before he was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). Anyways.....he has made it his mission to ride for MS, and he is working on what he calls his "Million Miles for a Cure". Paul has organized the MS5000, and it is a ride that any of us can make where we will ride 5000 miles in 50 days. (Or for those of us unable to make that distance, a combination of miles and money.....because after all, this is actually a fun way for us riders to raise money for the cause and have a good excuse to ride!) You can learn more about him here: http://www.longhaulpaul.com. I am not connected with Paul, but I did see his talk at last years Americade, and found him to be a real rider who is trying to use his abilities to raise money for a good cause.  Anyways, I suggest you contact him for an interview.....he is a great guy, and I am sure he would love to get people involved with his MS5000 ride."
