Tread Perilously's Doctor Who month continues with a new series episode called "Midnight." While Donna relaxes in a spa on the planet Midnight, The Doctor decides to take an excursion to the so-called Sapphire Falls. It is an eight-hour trip, but a couple of hours in, the transport stops and the mechanic in the flight deck spots movement where no living thing is supposed to be. Soon, something makes its way into the passenger compartment and it wants nothing more than to inhabit The Doctor. The dry air in Erik's hotel room leads to a lot of throat clearing. A brief discussion of classic Who and X-Men comics breaks out. Justin turns out to have the same reaction Erik had to the episode when it first aired. They delve into that appraisal. The presence of actor David Troughton also gets examined. The Tenth Doctor's flaws are on display even as he proves to be right in a compartment full of panicky humans. Erik continues to be surprised by the lack of Rutans in the new series. The issue of continuity with Big Finish Audio is explained. Dorothy Zbornak gets pitched as a companion and Barack Obama turns out to be the reason no man can have a secret second family anymore.

'Anyone who's prepared to kill for a book interests me.' Ireland, 1006. Strange things have been happening at the isolated Abbey of Kells: disembodied voices, unexplained disappearances, sudden death. The monks whisper of imps and demons. Could the Lord of the Dead himself be stalking these hallowed cloisters? The Doctor and his companion find themselves in the midst of a medieval mystery. At its heart is a book: perhaps the most important book in the world. The Great Gospel of Columkille. The Liber Columbae. SCHEDULING NOTE: We won't be dropping a Verity! ep on New Year's Day because Doctor Who is dropping that day! In order to get a quorum together to talk about it, our ep (like all the series 10 Verity! eps) will drop over the weekend. There may not be Doctor Who on Christmas Day, but we're bringing on the Christmas cheer with this special, super-sized "7 Faves" episode. Join ALL of the Verities: Deb, Erika, Katrina, Lizbeth, Lynne, and Tansy as we do a rapid round of Seven Holiday Favorites. There are the usual suspects drawn from modern Who's rich tradition of Christmas specials, plus we veer off-piste and draw on Big Finish stories, classic Who canon (that may or may not have the most slight, tenuous grasp to anything remotely holiday-related) Doctor Who spinoffs, and short stories. It's a mixed bag of holiday(ish) goodness. What are your favorite Doctor Who holiday stories? Leave us a comment or drop us a tweet and let us know. As the holiday season approaches we all have a lot of thoughts about traditions. I think it's safe to say, however, that this topic probably WON'T be a Verity! tradition, basically because we can't even agree as to what a tradition IS. But we give it a decent go as Deb, Erika, and Liz talk about their Doctor Who traditions, holiday-related and otherwise. Liz disputes most of it, Erika digs deep and Deb just has a lot of feelings about Elf on the Shelf. Do you have any Doctor Who-based traditions? Let us know in the comments or drop us a tweet. No, I didn't misspell "arc". They dive into tropes, power dynamics, issues of morality, the difficulties of (and sexism surrounding) introducing a baby subplot, and how words and titles have meanings. Oh, and how Regency dress and laser guns really really work for us. AND we announce a 7th Anniversary give-away! How do you feel about this turn in the Doctor mythos? Welcome to another episode of SFP-NOW.For this episode Ian and Raissa discuss the latest DC Comics series to come to CW in the form of Batwoman. We also discuss some interesting ideas and theories with regards to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Also briefly discussed how Supergirl seems to be spinning its wheels with very little input into the Crisis storyline, which is leaving Flash and Arrow to most of the heavy lifting. When it comes to Batwoman we discuss how it just seems to be mostly set up for the moment, but not especially spectacular. We also talk about how both DC and Marvel can go about giving us movies and television shows without feeling the need to make it all about the origin stories, and bring up a few examples of old shows that were able to to entertain without the need to give viewers the origin beyond brief glimpses in the opening credits much like was done on 'The Incredible Hulk' TV series. We close out the episode with a discussion on recent BIG Finish Audio releases such as the final box set in the 8th Doctor series Ravenous as well as the new reboot for 'Space 1999'.So tune in and feel free to join the discussion via comments. Cheers to you all.  If you are reading this, thank you and sorry.  Today we are talking about the serial The Creature from the Pit.  We enjoyed this one quite a bit.  In the second segment of Straight Outta Gallifrey Ashford will discuss the Big Finish Audio play Gallifrey - Forever, from series 4 episode 4.

Doctor Who: Straight Outta Gallifrey

We are changing things up a little bit on Straight Outta Gallifrey.  In 2017 and beyond, we are going to continue to talk about Time Lords that feature in Doctor Who episodes; however, to keep it interesting, we are going to alternate back and forth between new Who and Old Who.     Allison and Ashford talk about Dalek, which doesn't feature another Time Lord, but the discussion of the Time War is valid.  And we didn't want to not talk about a 9th Doctor story.  Cheers.     Post Script: Ashford will discuss the Big Finish Audio play Gallifrey.  This is from series 4 episode 1 titled Reborn.

Doctor Who: Straight Outta Gallifrey

Straight Outta Gallifrey is back with the Pirate Planet.  More Romana!  Ashford and Jordan discuss this second installment of the Key to Time series.  And stick around for Gallifrey, the Big Finish Audio segment with Ashford and Cerise.

Doctor Who: Straight Outta Gallifrey

Ashford and Josh are back to discuss Genesis of the Daleks.  This story has been a topic of discussion for decades, but of course, the boys thought they would throw their two cents in to the hat.  Fan opinion is all over the spectrum, Josh and Ashford enjoyed a great deal.   After the Genesis of the Daleks segment, stick around.  Ashford and Cerise went back and forth discussing Gallifrey: Lies, the Big Finish Audio play.  Series 2 Episode 1.   Contact us on twitter @SOGallifrey

Spookytober kicks off with Episode 68! Grab your grimoire and your notebook and let's find some demons to fight! Week in Geek: In a twist, Dan talks about Transformers plans with "Titans Return" while Andrew plays Super Meat Boy. Feel the Hurt: It was announced that acclaimed actor, John Hurt, would be reprising his role as The War Doctor from his appearance on Doctor Who in licensed Big Finish audio dramas. While Andrew and Dan talk about how cool this idea is itself, they also ponder what this could mean for the future of Big Finish Audio. Paranormal Investigation: Dan and Andrew dig into the implications, origins, and general coolness that is paranormal/supernatural investigative fiction. The Last Laugh: It was recently made public that Warner Bros. is totally cool with the upcoming animated adaptation of the DC comics Batman/Joker story, The Killing Joke, being Rated R. What does this mean?! Next week: Since the future has been foretold by the gospel of Back to the Future, Part II, we'll be talking about the reality versus the fiction of October 21, 2015. The 13th episode of the Doctor Who: Alhambra podcast, we discuss the news of Colin Baker's new companion for the next 6th Doctor main range release. Have a discussion of the new Doctor Who book, Engines of War, which features the War Doctor.  Sadly as of the recording of this episode, 25th of October, the Main Range release The Widows Assassin hadn't been release, so no review on that until November. We discuss the Early Adventure story "The Doctor's Tale."  Before we get into The Worlds of Doctor Who box set, we get distracted by some on-line community blind allegiance to only the Steven Moffat era of the New Who.  We discuss why the Sherlock episode length format could work better in the new series of Doctor Who.  Finally, after a rant that could have been go on even longer, but we got railed in (luckily). Next we move on to series 8 of Jago and Litefoot, which I cannot stop talking about one of my least favorite episode ever, and Liam trying to convince me otherwise. It leads to an impromptu ranking of the Doctor Who Big Finish audio musicals (Doctor Who and the Pirates, The Scorchies, and Encoure of the Scorchies).  After hitting each of the series 8 Jago and Litefoot stories, we move on to the whole reason why we started this podcast, discussing what Doctor Who is like for those who aren't able to visually watch it. My findings of purely listening to it was interesting and I appreciated Liam's perspective and his understanding of perhaps some insensative wording (I did stumble over my wording a lot during the segment, because I'd hate to offend anyone). We end the podcast by reviewing, with spoilers, the new series of Doctor Who stories: Kill the Moon, Mummy on the Orient Express, and Flatline. Stay tuned for our next audio only story, as we've yet to select one, but it will be determined soon!
