Or click here for more information: Linktr.ee/BeatlesEarth ----- The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960, that comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are regarded as the most influential band of all timeand were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music's recognition as an art form. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock 'n' roll, their sound incorporated elements of classical music and traditional pop in innovative ways; the band later explored music styles ranging from ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As pioneers in recording, songwriting and artistic presentation, the Beatles revolutionised many aspects of the music industry and were often publicised as leaders of the era's youth and sociocultural movements. Led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, the Beatles evolved from Lennon's previous group, the Quarrymen, and built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over three years from 1960, initially with Stuart Sutcliffe playing bass. The core trio of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison, together since 1958, went through a succession of drummers, including Pete Best, before asking Starr to join them in 1962. Manager Brian Epstein moulded them into a professional act, and producer George Martin guided and developed their recordings, greatly expanding their domestic success after signing to EMI Records and achieving their first hit, "Love Me Do", in late 1962. Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr all released solo albums in 1970. Their solo records sometimes involved one or more of the others; Starr's Ringo (1973) was the only album to include compositions and performances by all four ex-Beatles, albeit on separate songs. With Starr's participation, Harrison staged the Concert for Bangladesh in New York City in August 1971. Other than an unreleased jam session in 1974, later bootlegged as A Toot and a Snore in '74, Lennon and McCartney never recorded together again. Two double-LP sets of the Beatles' greatest hits, compiled by Klein, 1962–1966 and 1967–1970, were released in 1973, at first under the Apple Records imprint. Commonly known as the "Red Album" and "Blue Album", respectively, each has earned a Multi-Platinum certification in the US and a Platinum certification in the UK. Between 1976 and 1982, EMI/Capitol released a wave of compilation albums without input from the ex-Beatles, starting with the double-disc compilation Rock 'n' Roll Music. The only one to feature previously unreleased material was The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl (1977); the first officially issued concert recordings by the group, it contained selections from two shows they played during their 1964 and 1965 US tours. The music and enduring fame of the Beatles were commercially exploited in various other ways, again often outside their creative control. In April 1974, the musical John, Paul, George, Ringo ... and Bert, written by Willy Russell and featuring singer Barbara Dickson, opened in London. It included, with permission from Northern Songs, eleven Lennon-McCartney compositions and one by Harrison, "Here Comes the Sun". Displeased with the production's use of his song, Harrison withdrew his permission to use it.Later that year, the off-Broadway musical Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the Road opened. All This and World War II (1976) was an unorthodox nonfiction film that combined newsreel footage with covers of Beatles songs by performers ranging from Elton John and Keith Moon to the London Symphony Orchestra. The Broadway musical Beatlemania, an unauthorised nostalgia revue, opened in early 1977 and proved popular, spinning off five separate touring productions. In 1979, the band sued the producers, settling for several million dollars in damages. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978), a musical film starring the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton, was a commercial failure and an "artistic fiasco", according to Ingham. Accompanying the wave of Beatles nostalgia and persistent reunion rumours in the US during the 1970s, several entrepreneurs made public offers to the Beatles for a reunion concert.Promoter Bill Sargent first offered the Beatles $10 million for a reunion concert in 1974. He raised his offer to $30 million in January 1976 and then to $50 million the following month. On 24 April 1976, during a broadcast of Saturday Night Live, producer Lorne Michaels jokingly offered the Beatles $3,000 to reunite on the show. Lennon and McCartney were watching the live broadcast at Lennon's apartment at the Dakota in New York, which was within driving distance of the NBC studio where the show was being broadcast. The former bandmates briefly entertained the idea of going to the studio and surprising Michaels by accepting his offer, but decided not to. The Fratellis are a Scottish rock band from Glasgow, formed in 2005. The band consists of three unrelated members, who perform under pseudonyms: lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli, bassist Barry Fratelli, and drummer Mince Fratelli. Their singles "Chelsea Dagger" and "Whistle for the Choir" were both top ten hits in the UK charts. The band's name came from the criminal family in The Goonies and received their first radio playing in 2005, on central Scotland's Beat 106 (later XFM Scotland, now Capital Scotland) Beatscene show hosted by Jim Gellatly. They were signed by Fallout Records after less than 10 shows. The band formed after the band members placed adverts in record stores around Glasgow, originally forming as a four-piece with Mince on lead guitar and a drummer called Chris who was soon fired. They played their first "proper" show on 4 March 2005 in the O'Henry's bar in Glasgow across the road from the Horseshoe bar. The Fratellis EP was released on 3 April 2006, featuring the tracks "Stacie Anne" and "The Gutterati?". "Creepin' Up the Backstairs" was never a single released by the band, even though a video was made for it. The first single released by the band was Henrietta, which was released on 12 June 2006 and charted at number 19 on the UK Charts. Costello Music was the debut album for the Fratellis and was released on 11 September 2006. It charted at number two in the UK album charts for three weeks. The success of the album led to the Fratellis winning the Brit Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2007, an award that was voted for by BBC Radio One listeners. The Fratellis supported Kasabian in December 2006 on their UK tour before playing 10 dates by themselves in February and March 2007. The tour of the UK festival circuit, playing at Glastonbury and headlining at festivals such as NME's Rock 'n' Riot tour, OXEGEN 2007 and T in the Park 2007, amongst others. They also opened for The Police Reunion Tour in the summer of 2007 in some of the North America dates. The Fratellis also recorded some cover songs during the year including "All Along the Watchtower" for Radio 1's 40th Anniversary Double Album, Radio 1: Established 1967, and "Solid Gold Easy Action" for the soundtrack of the film Hot Fuzz, which also included the single "Baby Fratelli".

Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon presents The Fratellis' Jon Fratellis. Double-Platinum-selling rock trio, THE FRATELLIS The group just announced that their brand new album, HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON, will be released on April 9, and lead singer/songwriter/guitarist, Jon Fratelli, is available for interviews from the UK via phone or zoom. Check out the private link to their album HERE. The Scottish group, known for their Double-Platinum selling album, COSTELLO MUSIC, and their worldwide hit single, “Chelsea Dagger,” recently dropped their newest single and video titled “Action Replay,” featuring the their signature melodic sound and emotional lyrics. “Action Replay” is the follow up to their previously released singles "Six Days In June" and "Strangers In The Street" (feat. P.P. Arnold). HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON is the band’s sixth album, full of melodic surprises, from its flamboyant title track and lush songs steeped in brass and strings, to twists on the stomping sing-alongs with which the trio first found fame. Recorded in Los Angeles, California, with producer and long-time collaborator Tony Hoffer (Beck, Fitz and the Tantrums, Elle King), The Fratellis geared up for the release of HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON in 2020 – to follow their 2018 Top 5 album IN YOUR OWN SWEET TIME -- when the pandemic put a pause on their plans. “Six Days in June” hit the airwaves, revealing the trio’s new direction, just weeks before the world shut down. “We had a whole year’s worth of work that didn’t happen...” says Jon. “As a band who has a loyal audience we know we’re in a fortunate position.” image002HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON pairs the hooks and hallmarks of The Fratellis of old with the spirit of adventure they discovered on IN YOUR OWN SWEET TIME sent into overdrive. “These are by far the most colourful songs I’ve ever written,” says Jon. “Lots of musicians claim to have that condition where you hear music in colours. I don’t, but I definitely associate certain types of melody with different colours and these ones were multi-coloured.” Tracklist for HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON includes: 1. Half Drunk Under a Full Moon 2. Need a Little Love 3. Lay Your Body Down 4. The Last Songbird 5. Strangers In The Street 6. Living In The Dark 7. Action Replay 8. Six Days In June 9. Oh Roxy 10. Hello Stranger Success came quickly to The Fratellis, who formed in Glasgow in 2005 and comprised of Jon Fratelli with bassist/backing vocalist Barry Fratelli, and drummer/backing vocalist Mince Fratelli. Arriving a year later, their debut album, COSTELLO MUSIC not only went Double-Platinum, but led to The Fratellis winning the Brit Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2007. A successful second album, HERE WE STAND, followed in 2008, but this whirlwind of success came at a cost, and by the end of the decade the trio was forced into indefinite hiatus, burned out from their relentless life on the road. Since reforming in 2012, The Fratellis have been on a continuous upward trajectory, finding themselves enjoying a more sustainable type of success. They have steadily regained their live following thanks to a new generation of Fratellis fans, not just in Britain, but all over the world. HALF DRUNK UNDER A FULL MOON finds the trio entering their third decade at ease with who they are and where they are: a band who has not only survived, but thrived, and are currently making the best, most confident, and most ambitious music of their career. In Episode 39 Derek is joined by The Fratellis bassist Baz to talk all things about the Glasgow band. Baz tells some amazing stories from throughout the years with the band. From the early days of meeting through music shop adverts, their first radio spin with Jim Gellatly playing of Creeping Up The Backstairs to hitting the heights and having worldwide success. We talk about some of the memories that will last forever like Tops of the Pops, Jools Holland, on-stage with Roger Daltrey at the Royal Albert Hall, the Brits Awards and subsequent afterparty with Oasis. Baz talks about touring and the early albums before taking a 5 year break then reuniting and continuing to do it all over again to the present day. He is forever grateful for the support they receive the world over, being able to play to thousands in America, Japan and more. Chelsea Dagger is a song that is instantly recognisable and the reach of that single is incredible. It is played at Scotland's National Stadium at every football fixture and Baz tells us how the Chicago Blackhawks have adopted it as their official anthem.

Welcome to our next mini-milestone, episode 85! This week, Emma covers a story she’s been sitting on for a while — the grisly murders of the Ken and Barbie killers, Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. Thanks so much to Jennifer Hamilton for the suggestion! Anish talks about the spooky Sallie House and its chilling child ghost. Emma finished Hollywood this week, and has mixed feelings. In addition, the whole family watched the hilarious movie Extra Ordinary, the slightly depressing movie Chasing Coral, season two of Ricky Gervais’ After Life, and binged Solar Opposites (more or less together). Anish also watched the movie The Bookshop, and Emma watched Tucker and Dale vs. Evil on Netflix. (The dude really wanted Chelsea Dagger...but if you're drunk enough, Kelsey Grammer sounds close...)
