Jason and Katie welcome back their good friend, Digby Furneaux, the founder ofNew Paradigm Media Group. Digby opens up about his recent, intense experiences with CE5 (Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind), where he has actively initiated contact with extraterrestrial beings. At a cost. Digby shares his firsthand account of engaging with NHI through meditation and specific protocols, highlighting the rather easy challenges of this practice, but the warning that you have no control over what will come to you. He describes the moments when these encounters turned unsettling, especially when they occurred while his family was asleep just rooms away. The frequency of these visitations has increased, with notable incidents spanning from Morocco to England. Digby discusses the emotional spectrum from awe and wonder to fear and the ethical considerations of inviting unknown entities into one's personal space.A cautionary tale on the precautions when engaging in CE5 practices, focusing on future personal safety and the impact on loved ones. What are the broader implications of such self-initiated encounters? Is there a global increase in these negative types of CE5 interactions?
Today, I am delighted to welcome Dave Furneaux, Founder & CEO of BlueIO, an innovative, mission-driven builder capitalist investment company. Dave is a co-founder and investor in a number of innovative companies, such as Blaze (acquired by Akamai), Cybersaint (a leading Cyber Risk Management company), Greenlight Biosciences (EPA approved breakthrough RNA bio-chemical platform for clean food), Lufa Farms (a leading agricultural technology company), Lumicell (an FDA approved platform for Cancer therapy) and Virsec (a breakthrough cyber protection company). He has been a driving force behind many breakthrough technology, health, and food companies as a founder, operator, investor, and active board leader. Some notable examples include Watchfire (acquired by IBM), Skystone (acquired by Cisco Systems), Application Security (acquired by SingTel) and Aironet (acquired by Cisco Systems). Earlier in his career, Dave founded and led Kodiak Venture Partners, which went on to invest in and build companies such as Appnexus (acquired by AT&T), Channel Advisor (NYSE: ECOM), Extreme (acquired by Microchip), Enfora (acquired by Sierra Wireless), IM Logic (acquired by Symantec) and WHERE (acquired by Paypal). David believes, and we at FOX agree, that families are uniquely positioned and endowed to create, build, and innovate by putting their family capital, their entrepreneurial spirit, and creativity to work to solve the big problems our world is facing. He talks about why he has this conviction, how he sees it play out today, and why and how families play this key role in innovation and building new solutions and products. The topic of our conversation with Dave is encapsulated in a relatively new term: “Builder Capitalism”. Dave defines Builder Capitalism for our audience, describes the tenets of this investment philosophy, and outlines the mindset and skills it requires. He also paints the picture of how Builder Capitalism is manifested in reality through the activities and behaviors of entrepreneurs. Dave offers many practical tips and suggestions to the different market players who are interested in Builder Capitalism, starting with what investors need to know or do if they want to participate in this movement and allocate their capital (financial and non-financial) to Builder Capitalist ventures. He also provides his advice to entrepreneurs and founders who share this belief system and see themselves and their startups as members of this Builder Capitalism economy. Finally, Dave offers his insights into the resources available to both investors and founders to become better educated about Builder Capitalism and to be better connected into the emerging ecosystem of this rising entrepreneurial movement. This is a must-hear conversation with one of the leading thought leaders, practitioners, and innovators in the Builder Capitalism movement, who is also a family principal and leader of his own multigenerational entrepreneurial family.

I acknowledge, with deep respect, the traditional owners of Lutruwita (Tasmania) Aboriginal land, sea and waterways. In this episode of Retail Corner, listen to Matthew Furneaux, Director of Location Intelligence, Loqate provides insights on understanding consumer behavior and current trends in retail. You will listen to our host talking with Matthew on the following points. You have experience working with some of the largest e-commerce and retailers globally including Nordstrom, Sephora, Kohl's, Ralph Lauren, and Michaels. As these and other brands navigate the third holiday season impacted by pandemic, economic and other factors, what are some key trends you're seeing for how shoppers are spending and their behaviors between in-store and online shopping Your team recently published its annual holiday shopping survey - what are some of the key trends impacting retailers today that really indicate a new normal has been established for consumer shopping behaviors? It seems like from the study that on-time delivery is important to consumers, and impacts their relationship with a brand or retailer. What does this say about the importance of delivery and shipping, and what steps can retailers take to ensure that they meet expectations If 52% of American consumers report that a retailer's availability of products impacts their loyalty, what do you think this says about retail customer loyalty and CX programs? What can retailers learn and apply to incorporate the importance of product availability as a bigger role in customer loyalty programs? Are there additional steps brands can take to make this area shine for them in light of ongoing supply chain issues? In general, how should brands and retailers approach the holidays as they take steps to win customer loyalty during this season, and continue to drive purchases all year? About our guest Matthew Furneaux: Matthew Furneaux is a location technology veteran with over 20 years of experience in helping global businesses reach their customers globally. As director of location intelligence at Loqate (https://www.loqate.com/), a GBG company, Furneaux is responsible for strategy and innovation. He is also a retail and eCommerce expert and while at Loqate, has worked with leading eCommerce brands including Nordstrom, Sephora, Kohl's, Ralph Lauren and Michaels. It's New Year's Eve, 1997, and 17-year-old Olivia Hope is getting ready for a party at Furneaux Lodge, a beautiful old residence that sits at the head of one of the bays and coves that make up The Marlborough Sounds. A picturesque holiday spot on the northern end of New Zealand's south island where the bush meets the sea. The lodge is only accessible by boat, so Olivia, her older sister, and their friends have booked a chartered yacht called Tamarack that will deliver them to the celebrations after an afternoon basking in the sun. Furneaux is the place to be on New Years and the local teenagers are getting ready to dance away the night with 15-hundred other partygoers. Over in Punga Cove, just across the inlet, Ben Smart is partying the afternoon away with mates. He too has plans to join the fun at Furno and hitches a ride over on a boat as the party gets started. But what happens to Ben and Olivia after the clock strikes midnight, will become one of the most high-profile and hotly contested murder investigations New Zealand has ever seen. Every podcast we record is noteworthy for its own reason, but every so often, we hit the record button and what follows is something extra-extra special. This week's Driven Chat Podcast is absolutely definitely 'extra-extra special.Elspeth Beard and Jacqui Furneaux have both embarked on international adventures on two wheels. Elspeth circumnavigated the world as a young 23-year-old on her BMW, crossing continents, exploring unknown territories and facing multiple challenges along the way. Jacqui didn't embark on her journey until a little later in life, however, the adventure was ambitious for many different reasons. In this episode, I talked to Todd Furneaux, Co founder of Supersapiens, a company which is trying to revolutionize nutrition in sports through live glucose monitoring. Having founded a couple start-ups beforehand, he jumped up on the idea of Phil Southerland. Phil being diabetic himself, he saw an incredible opportunity for athletes to know their glucose data to better perform and understand their body's nutritional needs. Pitching this idea to different investors, they've managed to secure 13,500,000 USD. In this podcast, we talked about the process of creating a spark in potential investors, the company itself and the different - successful and unsuccessful - approaches to marketing. Jock Serong is the winner of 2021 Historical Novel Society's ARA Prize for Historical Fiction for the second part in a three part trilogy exploring the history around the Furneaux group of islands off the north-eastern coast of Tasmania. Eliza Grayling reluctantly sets off from Sydney Cove on the Danish schooner Moonbird in search of the wreck of the Howrah, lost in the islands of the Bass Strait carrying valuable but uncertain cargo. Her fellow passengers include her blind alcoholic father, a curious cross-dressing captain and the mysterious Dr Gideon, a botanist and apparent man of science. The journey is compromised by several deaths while at sea and when the Moonbird approaches it's destination, the truth they seek is not all is as it seems. This remarkable work of historical fiction brings together real historical figures and events with vividly imagined characters to recreate a journey into the disturbing heart of a brutal period in Australia's colonial history. In this episode Gregory Dobbs chats to Jock Serong about the role of historical fiction in opening up our hidden history, his fascination with the Furneaux Islands and how real and imagined historical figures can coexist in fiction writing and bring history to life.

“We've never been so busy,” says Nick Furneaux, a digital forensic investigator who specialises in cryptocurrency crime.Furneaux, our guest on the latest New Money Review podcast, works with law enforcement bodies and large corporates around the world, focusing on ‘the challenge of investigating crimes involving cryptocurrency'.Listen to the podcast to hear Nick and New Money Review editor Paul Amery discuss:How cryptocurrency created new avenues for crime“What bitcoin did was to provide a method of transaction that at its core is anonymous. This has given the criminal a new method to mix and hide funds. It's more challenging for law enforcement to deal with.” “70-80 percent of arrested criminals have cryptocurrency wallets on their phones or computers. Our phone rings off the hook with calls from people who have lost money in scams, frauds and phishing attacks. On the ground, we've never been so busy.”“A sizeable percentage of bitcoin traffic—high teens—comes through the TOR network. One has to ask why. I'd suggest that the number of people using TOR for libertarian reasons is small in comparison to the number of criminals using TOR to obfuscate the movement of funds.”How criminals launder cryptocurrency“There are people who are willing to launder crypto for you. They'll just charge a huge percentage and give you the cash.”The continuing frictions between cryptocurrency and banks“We had to buy £500 of ethereum the other day for a class I'm teaching on DeFi and decentralised exchanges—the bank froze my business bank account until I could explain why. The banks are very twitchy with any sort of crypto movement.”Why retail investors need to practise self-defence“If you go back five years, an awful lot of the money in crypto was criminal. Now there's a lot of retail money. And people are going to want to deal with companies that will make restitution if things go wrong.”“If you're going to get into cryptocurrency, make sure you understand the technology. Make sure you know the difference between a public and private key, and what a bitcoin address is compared to the private key that controls it. If you cannot understand that, do not get into crypto—you will just have ‘victim' tattooed on your forehead.”The global challenge of solving cryptocurrency crimes“I don't know how we solve the international issue. We've got countries that don't care, and other countries that don't have the people or the funds to train their law enforcement and legislators. We get calls from police forces around the world who can't afford the blockchain forensic tools.”Why ethereum, DeFi and NFTs are the new frontier of crypto fraud“The biggest issue we are seeing criminally is what we generically term ‘crypto 2.0'—the ethereum blockchain with all of its tokens, and then the DeFi contracts. If a criminal stakes money into a DeFi contract and does so-called yield farming, they are earning clean money.”“We're seeing art fraud associated with non-fungible tokens (NFTs). You take a picture you own to auction, buy it from yourself for $100k, pay the commission, then put it back up for sale for $60k and sell it to a third party who thinks it's cheap.”

"Is email dead?" That's a common question I hear among marketers. While I currently have no less than 36,000 unread emails, I still open and read emails from specific people and a few random ads that hit my inbox. But there just may be a better solution. You're going to get that solution on this conversation. Meet our Feature Guest Todd Furneaux is the co-founder of AdKAddy, a mobile app that keeps your personal inbox free of brand clutter by giving you a new email address and experience to use for all your consumer needs. With nearly two decades of professional experience working for large organizations like The Home Depot, Todd spent several years in product development, identifying and implementing products and processes to best understand and meet the unique needs of their customers. It was this experience that fueled Todd to develop a better way for brands to interact with their customers without resorting to interruptive advertising. In 2018, Todd had a revelation: when it comes to reaching customers, the problem isn’t advertising itself; the problem is with the interruption of advertising. So he set out to dispel the myth of “bad advertising.” If there were a way for consumers to back their personal inboxes and keep their personal emails personal, those people might be more willing to actively engage with communications from the brands they love. That’s when Todd launched AdKaddy, a mobile app that helps keep customers’ inboxes simple and free of brand clutter. AdKaddy, free to download and simple to sign up, creates a personal inbox for each user where they can direct email communications from their favorite companies. The app sorts these emails into categories like promotional emails, receipts, and shipping notifications, making it easy to log in and brush up on the latest products and news from the brands they know and love. The second instalment of this guest mix gets stuck straight in. White Square’s ‘Pressured Mind’ bassline bubbles whilst plucky percussion punctuates a searing and driving synth; plotting a course for things to come. Rodriquez Jr follows with ‘Haussmann’ a mixture of London early rave breakbeat with science-fiction style atmospherics before Blueprint sweeps in delivering an emotional wall of sound – what a start! As the breakbeat echoes out, the solid 4/4 rolls in to take charge of the groove but never letting go of the light in the shape of playful melody and warm light synths washing in and out. Just as the beats relax, Dave starts to whip things up and we’re reminded of the progressive roots from whence he came. Gorgeous big basslines drop whilst rhythms bounce off in all directions giving a sense of space flight and otherworldly adventure from Monojoke bookended with the wonderful Eric Lune. As the mix heads towards its crescendo starting at 51 mins Christopher Kah’s monster track Evolution 909 (Magnus Froblem Remix) crashes in and takes no prisoners. Pryda’s ‘Snaz/ acts as a sonic conduit for the classic and personal favourite ‘Little Bullet' from Spooky, ending the mix perfectly and giving us a sense that we’ve time travelled effortlessly courtesy of Dave Furneaux’s tight control and wonderful imagination.
We start with a very current reminder of the times we live in right now courtesy of Her Majesty’s government warnings but quickly head off to more exotic shores. The medley of Rej & Kjavik tracks work perfectly here delivering a bass-led jerky ride whilst ethnic chants add spellbinding hypnotism, especially with the moody ‘Kaif’ slotted in the middle from the late, great Andrew Weatherall. Almost like the break of dawn Oliver Kolezki’s ‘We are all lost’ provides a shining light with its soothing trumpet and soft bassline accompaniment. It’s only a gentle pause as Marcus Meinhardt’s solid groover ‘Bamboo’ dances in. The next 15 min section is a gorgeous techy workout gliding into Alexandros Djkevingr & Greg Ignatovich’s jerky and poignant – ‘Choose life’ before a wonderful breakbeat excursion to guide us home. The finale from Editors is a perfect way to perhaps bookend the feelings experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic. The spirit-raising vocal gives hope and joy in equal measure reminding us that whilst the world may be upside down – we are not lost.

A Their Story interview with Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli Guests: Alison Furneaux and Padraic O’Reilly The organization telling us their story today is CyberSaint Technology changes. Threats change. Governance changes. Risk models change. Compliance requirements change. Has your CISO role changed? The concept of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) has been around since the mid-2000s. GRC continues to change, as do business models, the technologies that run the business, and the cyber threats that threaten to bring it to a screeching halt. Of course, the role of the CISO has also changed, but has it kept up with the times? The function must understand not only the inner-workings of the technology that the company uses but also the threats that introduce risk to the environment. Equally important is the need to operationalize these in the context of business. This isn’t anything new, necessarily, but it does become a tremendous challenge when you consider the breadth, depth, and scale of all of these combined. And, when all of this is connected, the complexity also increases, bringing with it a need to reduce scope and complexity whenever possible as well as giving security personnel the tools, information, and automation they need to keep up as well. Listen to the CyberSaint story to hear how they identified this problem and have been working diligently to help CISOs overcome the challenges they face. Learn more about CyberSaint on ITSPmagazine here: https://www.itspmagazine.com/company-directory/cybersaint For more stories from RSA Conference 2020, be sure to visit https://www.itspmagazine.com/rsa-conference-usa-2020-rsac-san-francisco-coverage

John Furneaux is the CEO and co-founder of Hive. John’s obsession with workplace collaboration led him naturally to found Hive as the long-awaited solution to drive business productivity forward. Before fulfilling the dream of using his lessons learned to power smarter teams with the Hive platform, John started out as a strategy consultant to Fortune 500 companies and drove the national implementation of Sharepoint for the UK’s Department of Education. He left the consulting world to join Huddle, and rose to lead Global Customer Success, growing the company through its Series D to become Europe’s largest collaboration platform. Spotting a huge gap in the team productivity space for a tool users loved and leaders needed, John taught himself to code to build the first prototype of Hive. John received his MA in Mathematics and Law from the University of Cambridge.

Shooting Galleries: Soldiering, Domesticity and Art Trooper George’s shooting gallery turned refuge in Dickens’s Bleak House encourages us to think about the interleaving of military and domestic cultures in mid-Victorian Britain. I take George and his shooting gallery community as representative of the Victorian investment in domesticating the military man. At the same time soldiers themselves made strenuous efforts to forge connections between their military and home identities, often using art and craft to keep in touch with family and friends and to emphasise shared skills and experiences. After a Dickens prologue, this paper focuses on my research for the current exhibition ‘Created in Conflict: British Soldier Art from the Crimean War to Today’, exploring continuities in the emotional work of soldier art and considering the ways in which soldiers’ creativity can be deployed to make us feel both better and worse about war.
