Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are making headlines, but not for their performances in “It Ends With Us.” We are breaking down the mess and going over Lively's recently filed lawsuit against Baldoni in this live stream.Disclaimer for Podcast Episode :The California Civil Rights Department, where Lively filed her complaint, has 60 days to determine whether they will investigate the case. According to legal expert Doll, the department may first attempt to mediate a resolution between Lively, Baldoni, and Wayfarer Studios, whom Lively is also suing. If no settlement is reached, the department would issue a "right to sue" letter, allowing Lively to proceed with her claim in court. While settlements are common in Hollywood, this particular complaint could go possibly go to trial due to the nature of the allegations.Baldoni was dropped by WME, his agency, following the lawsuit.https://deadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/blake-lively-CCRD-filing.pdfWatch on PopCrimeTV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lOl7m35eOM Hosted on Acast. Drawing on years of working with both men and women on sexual and spiritual intimacy, masculinity and finding one's purpose, John Wineland shares how he's trying to help men across the world. A renowned men's group facilitator, teacher and thought leader, John encourages people to embrace a paradigm shift where masculinity celebrates femininity, presence and liberation. Discover the power and purpose of men's groups (and where to find them), gatherings of men fueled by accountability and real friendships that transcend superficial bonds like sports and booze. With empathy that is far too rare these days, John speaks directly to men who feel displaced, isolated and forgotten in this dynamic time of change in our world. John's message offers clarity and inspiration for men navigating challenging times. He also discusses the secret to handling the grief of losing his daughter (the inspiration for Justin's film, Five Feet Apart) with grace and healing, made possible largely because of the support he found in his own men's group. In this week's episode, our hosts sit down with the talented actor, Travis Van Winkle, who also happens to be one of Justin and Jamey's closest friends. They dive into a wide-ranging discussion covering dating, overcoming trauma, friendship insecurities, alcohol, the Roman Empire trend, and the art of embracing life's imperfect timing. He opens up about his transformative experience as a mentor to his "little brother," Lyrik, and the revelation that he's more ready than ever for fatherhood. Travis shares his refreshed perspective on dating and marriage, opting for authentic human connections over dating apps while also acknowledging that the gift of marriage may not be in his immediate future. Later in the episode, Travis lays out his “curriculum for life” made up of the different challenges, learnings and lessons he's gained along the way. Immerse yourself in the powerful life story of actor and cerebral palsy activist Jordan Walker Ross. From confronting a childhood besieged by bullying (14:18) and navigating the rocky terrains of medical uncertainty and depression (17:30), to carving out a successful career in acting (04:47), Jordan's narrative is an insightful deep-dive into his relentless journey towards self-acceptance and empowerment in the face of adversity, demonstrating the resilience of the human spirit. Jordan shares his thoughts on dating with a disability (24:04), when it's ok to use the word “disability” (21:30) and distinguishing between ignorance and curiosity (31:38) provides a rich perspective that can help break down societal prejudices. Listen in to learn how Jordan defied societal expectations, learned to embrace his "limp," and became an advocate for representation, vulnerability and change. About Jordan Walker Ross Jordan is an actor (THE CHOSEN), screenwriter and host of the podcast “What's Your Limp?” Jordan has Cerebral Palsy and Scoliosis and by the age of 7, he had already undergone half a dozen major surgeries, including a full spinal fusion, and had several near death experiences. He discovered his love for acting at the age of 6 and spent the vast majority of his career being told no and having casting directors, agents, directors, etc. telling him to “lose the limp”. However, it was that very limp - the things Jordan was most insecure about - that led him to his most fulfilling and successful role yet - playing Little James on The Chosen. Now, Jordan is determined to use his platform as an actor and his podcast, What's Your Limp?, to help others learn to love their own “limps” and to use them to their advantage, rather than perceiving them as flaws or weaknesses. "People are like, "You are a machine." And I'm like "yeah I am." And there's a part of me that's like, "oh yeah, I'm a machine. I'm a machine." And it's so backwards how as men we can have our egos inflated when we're compared to non-human things. Why do I want to be a machine? I don't want to be a machine. Machines don't have empathy or compassion or sensitivity. Machines can't enjoy sex. Machines don't laugh. Why does that inflate my ego and make me puff out my chest? What am I comparing myself to? What is the basis for which we are judging, and the standard that we have set for each other?" - Justin Baldoni In a re-release of episode 53, Ever Forward Club's Ashanti Branch is joined by Justin Baldoni. As an actor, director, producer, and founder of Wayfarer Studios, you may recognize Justin from shows like “Jane the Virgin” or the film “Clouds”, on Disney+. After years in the entertainment world, Justin Baldoni, found that classic breakout moment as an actor in the role of Rafael Solano on the hit show Jane the Virgin. But, underneath what seemed to be an extraordinary mainstream success, a certain discontent and vision of what the industry and life could be was brewing. In no small part, fueled by a deep devotion to his Baháʼí Faith, which stresses unity, universal dignity and the elimination of barriers to oneness. He began to question everything from the way stories were told to the fundamental underpinning of the entertainment machine, and even his own place in it. That led him into a deeper exploration of identity, relationships, and eventually to questioning of modern concepts of masculinity, which led him to write his first book, Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity. It also led Justin to reimagine how he would create this next season of work and life. He co-founded Wayfarer Studios, an independent financial and production engine pioneering purpose-driven, multi-platform film and television productions that elevate and speak to the human spirit. He's on a bit of a mission to disrupt the typical studio model by producing stories that serve as true agents for social change. Justin also founded and serves as chairman of The Wayfarer Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the way communities see and respond to the needs of people experiencing homelessness. Each year, the foundation puts on one of Los Angeles' largest volunteer events, the Skid Row Carnival of Love, which provides connection, services, and resources to people who are experiencing homelessness in LA's Skid Row community. Over the past few years, over 6,000 volunteers have served over 15,000 guests, providing them access to over 100 service partners. You can find Justin at: Instagram | Man Enough PodcastIf you LOVED this episode:You'll also love the conversations we had with Matthew McConaughey about meaning, creativity and life.My new book is available for pre-order:Order Sparked: Discover Your Unique Imprint for Work that Makes You Come Alive and get your book bonuses!Check out our offerings & partners: Theragun: A deep muscle massage treatment, unlike anything you've ever felt. Justin Baldoni, an award-winning filmmaker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who focuses on revolutionizing the ways in which we perceive media through his newly established Wayfarer Studios. Justin's passion for impactful storytelling led him to his directorial debut with FIVE FEET APART starring Cole Sprouse & Haley Richardson. The film raised awareness and highlighted the reality of those afflicted by cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening disorder that impacts 70,000 people around the world. Late last year, Baldoni co-founded Wayfarer Studios, a studio commitment to creating purpose-driven, multi-platform, content for TV and FILM that elevates and speaks to the human spirit; featuring a robust, genre-defying slate of projects spanning film, scripted television, documentaries, digital platforms, and more. Baldoni directed and produced Wayfarer Studios' first feature film project, CLOUDS, based on the heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting book “Fly a Little Higher” by Laura Sobiech about her son Zach, a musically gifted 17-year old living with osteosarcoma. Wayfarer Studios co-financed the film that has since been acquired by Disney+—becoming Disney's first-ever narrative acquisition on its global platform—and is set to be released worldwide this fall but confidentially in October. Opportunity in America - Events by the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program
The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the value of caregiving work and the need for equitable and affordable access to care – for children, for elders, for those with a disability, and for all of us in hard times. Yet care work remains underpaid and often invisible, contributing to the inadequacies of the US care system and deepening challenges for caregivers and families. As we move from crisis to recovery, how can policy contribute to building a care economy that dignifies the work of caregivers and expands access to quality, affordable care? How can our systems center gender and racial equity to construct a care economy that serves all families? And how can our society support a healthy and sustainable caregiving system for our post-pandemic future, one in which the demand for caregiving is poised to continue to grow? This special event hosted by the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program explores these questions and more. The event features an exciting lineup of policy and practice experts, cultural leaders, and caregivers, including Justin Baldoni (Director and Producer, “Clouds,” “Five Feet Apart”; Actor, “Jane the Virgin”; Cofounder, Wayfarer Studios), Erika Beras (Reporter, Marketplace), Heather Boushey (Member, Council of Economic Advisers, The White House), Abby McCloskey (Founder and Principal, McCloskey Policy LLC), Ai-jen Poo (Executive Director, National Domestic Workers Alliance; Director, Caring Across Generations), Dan Porterfield (President and CEO, The Aspen Institute), Adria Powell (President and CEO, Cooperative Home Care Associates), Mitt Romney (US Senator from Utah), Tina Tchen (President and CEO, TIME'S UP), and Dorian Warren (President, Community Change; Cochair, Economic Security Project). Speakers discuss the important role of caregiving in our economy and society, as well as a variety of ideas for building an equitable care economy both in the near term for recovery and in the long term for a post-pandemic future. The Economic Opportunities Program's Opportunity in America discussion series has moved to an all-virtual format as we all do what we can to slow the spread of COVID-19. But the conversations about the changing landscape of economic opportunity in the US and implications for individuals, families, and communities across the country remain vitally important. We hope you will participate as we bring our discussions to you in virtual formats, and we look forward to your feedback. We are grateful to the Ford Foundation, Prudential Financial, Walmart.org, the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, and the Surdna Foundation for their support of this series.
