In this episode, we meet with Tia and Sean Edwards, a couple whose journey began at a gas station and led to redefining the bourbon industry. Tia and Sean's Lexington-based distillery, Fresh Bourbon, is on a bold mission to make bourbon accessible to everyone. Their journey is not just about crafting a drink but about reclaiming ownership (a word that speaks volumes to us) in an industry that hasn't always been inclusive. We recorded this episode with Sean and Tia shortly after an interactive “build-your-own Old Fashioned” tasting experience, led by Nate Taylor, the VP of Brand Management at Fresh Bourbon. Throughout the episode, you'll hear the occasional clinking of glasses as Nate prepares Fresh Bourbon's stunning bar area for the next group of bourbon connoisseurs. If you haven't visited Fresh Bourbon yet, it's worth the trip. And if Lexington isn't in your future, please grab a glass, pour yourself some bourbon (Fresh, if you can), and tune in to this captivating and inspiring episode. Oregon Trail Rally threw plenty of curveballs. The headline was both Subaru factory cars retiring within a mile of one another and opening the door for its 12-rally winning streak to be broken. But it was about more than Subaru's unexpected disaster. An ARA cameo might become something more after Ricardo Cordero got to taste the winner's champagne – albeit at the expense of a potential first win for Sam Albert's Ferrari-powered Subaru. And then there's the story of how Sean Edwards went to extreme lengths to keep his Volvo in the race. Brenten Kelly, David Evans and Alasdair Lindsay are joined by Edwards in this week's SPIN, The Rally Pod to talk everything Oregon Trail.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A new season of Survivor is upon us and with it comes a new version of this podcast! We are officially taking on a new show here at Challenge Historian, and will be transforming into Survivor Historian every week throughout Survivor 45s run. And for the first time in the history of this podcast Jacob will be joined by a permanent co-host, the one and only Tony Lantz! You may recognize Tony from The Challenge Fandom podcast where he co-hosts on all of their incredible Challenge coverage. Being the lifelong Survivor fan and all around wonderful human that he is, Jacob just knew Tony would be the perfect co-host to bring in for the season to fill the role of a true Historian of the franchise. In this inaugural episode, Tony and Jacob start by going over their individual histories with the Survivor franchise, then cover some thoughts on the biggest changes that have come with the modern Survivor game, before doing a cast member by cast member breakdown of Season 45, high level thoughts and hopes for the season, and finishing it out with a whole bunch of predictions.Yes, it's nearly three hours long, but it's three hours well worth it if you are a Survivor die hard like us. We will be back every week of Season 45 to break it all down, so make sure to subscribe or follow so you don't miss an episode (and no, the recaps won't be three hours long lol)!If you want to read the Entertainment Weekly Cast Bios that we are working off of, you can find it here.Chapters:Intro (00:00)History of our Survivor Fandom (02:20)Thoughts on Modern Survivor: 39 Days to 26 Days (14:10)Thoughts on Modern Survivor: Fiji Every Season (23:30)Thoughts on Modern Survivor: Idols and Twists (31:10)Survivor 45 Cast Breakdown (40:05)Austin Li Coon (46:47)Dee Valladares (52:48)Brandon Donjon (56:26)Emily Flippen (01:01:42)Brando Meyer (01:05:00)Hannah Rose (01:10:35)Bruce Perreault (01:13:05)Janani Krishnan-Jha (01:19:55)Drew Basile (01:26:33)Julie Alley (01:30:18)Jake O'Kane (01:36:00)Katurah Topps (01:39:15)Kaleb Gebrewold (01:46:16)Kellie Nalbandian (01:50:05)Nicholas “Sifu” Alsup (01:53:20)Kendra McQuarrie (01:57:50)Sean Edwards (02:03:20)Sabiyah Broderick (02:10:50)90 Minute Episodes and the Need for a Villain (02:15:30)Season Predictions (02:36:40)#Survivor #Survivor45 #RealityTV #RealityTVPodcast #TheChallengeHistorian #SurvivorHistorian #SurvivorPodcast

Henrique Cisneros is a professional race car driver, Chairman, Director & President of the Motorsport Safety Foundation, Co-owner and Director of MOMO Italy, a global automotive safety accessories company and Director at Cisneros Corporation. In Episode 98, Henrique and I discussed health & safety in motorsport and how it's initiatives can translate to other sports like football. The creation of the Motorsport Safety Foundation was inspired by the tragic loss of Henrique's co-driver, Sean Edwards while he was coaching racing students in Australia. According to Henrique, most races governed by the FIA require the track to meet a set of minimum safety standards. In Sean's accident, the driver, traveling at high speed, crashed into a wall that was supposed to have several rows of tires to dissipate the impact. This particular wall had an insufficient number of tire rows. Ultimately, Henrique felt his friend's death could have been prevented. Partly out of frustration for a lack of consistency for motorsport safety standards and as a way to his honor his friend, the Motorsport Safety Foundation was born. The mission of the Motorsport Safety Foundation is to improve safety in all forms of motorsport. Although the mission may sound simple, Henrique enlightened me on how this is no easy task. Pictured : Henrique (left), Sean Edwards (Right) Below are some topics of discussion in this episode: Why it takes an accident to make changes that improve safety. Impact causes the most damage in motorsport, so how do you dissipate the impact most effectively? The inherent risk of speed in motorsport. One of the HighFives Foundation's 5 critical mistakes Advances in motorsport safety equipment. Fire resistant clothing HANS Head restraint Car technology Barriers The importance of educating drivers on safety because ignorance can be bliss. How even crashing at 40 miles an hour can kill you. Sharing best practices. Why the biggest enemy to safety is cost. Safety is expensive, every new regulation means changes for teams, cars or tracks and they don't all necessarily make the car faster. How Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s death pushed change and new technology in motorsport safety. Motorsport Safety Foundation's Initiatives. ICE Emergency ID Stickers Certified In collaboration with leaders in the High Performance Driver Education community, the Motorsport Safety Foundation has created standards for the selection, training and certification of high performance driving instructors. Race With Restraint Race with Restraint is a program dedicated to making Frontal Head Restraints (FHR) easily accessible to anyone who goes on a race track. The Motorsport Safety Foundation offers drivers at all levels the chance to rent a HANS Device or Simpson Hybrid for a low fee. Rental kiosk for restraints Takes the money excuse away from drivers Zero One helmet by VICIS – Henrique applauds the company for thinking outside the box. What is the price on your life? SG Helmets - Football helmets inspired by motorsport technology. Using Carbon Kevlar Weight is the enemy in collisions How the evolution of motorsport and sports like football are similar. "The safer the track and equipment, the better the racing" Concussions in motorsport and the lack of return to drive protocols. Spectator safety Why danger = Fun How the younger generation of racers are seeing things differently when it comes to safety. Culture of masculinity is less prevalent. The younger generation isn't afraid to speak their truth. Why making decisions on ego or masculinity never consider safety Ego over intuition Another one of the HighFives Foundation's critical mistakes Story of a personal crash Henrique was in and why the he was lucky the track safety parameters were up to par. What can other sports learn from motorsports? The use of sensors. How sensors can lead to information people don’t want to know... Why MOMO never skimps on safety. Why consistency is key when is comes to building a culture of safety. Brief and debrief safety before and after each event. If you’ve listened to this show for any length of time, you know that our intro music is a catchy little ditty about changing the world and watching your business grow. This week we’re going to introduce you to the five influences you exert as a business person, and how these influences empower you to change the world. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations This week it’s all about giving you an encouraging word (as it is most weeks). “In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” – Psalm 5:3 (NIV) As inspired business leaders, this is how we should begin our day. The result is a more peaceful and productive day, regardless of the challenges we may face. Tip Of The Week This week’s tip comes straight from renowned coffee connoisseur Sean Edwards himself. Enjoy a highbrow coffee experience and drink your coffee from a ceramic mug – not from paper cups. It tastes better and it’s better for you. This is a real thing…your tastebuds will thank you. Feature Segment: “How to Change the World (And Watch Your Business Grow)” As an entrepreneur, you exert 5 Influences that create world-change, and business growth. You exert Influence in these ares: Your Self Your Team Your Customers Your Community Your Competitors And…you guessed it…some snippets from our conversation: Drop the stone in the pond (10:08) The Butterfly Effect (10:27) Don’t skip this step (11:12) Sean channels his inner Tony Robbins (12:32) How to multiply your time and influence (14:12) Set the bar and receive the love (16:09) The key to virtual influence (17:27) Get fanatical about this one thing (19:33) Take the Ray Challenge (21:28) How To Help Subscribe to the show through iTunes and give us a rating and review. One of the wonderful opportunities I have is to host podcasts for other people. Shows like Creating Disney Magic with Lee Cockerell, Catalyst Sale with Mike Simmons and Mike Conner, Great Escape Radio with Lori Allen. There are more shows, I just listed a couple as an illustration. Because of the work I do, I am often asked a question like this “Why should I have a co-host on my podcast”. Or, “What value does it add to my show to have a co-host”. People like Jeff Goins and Ken Davis, who would certainly do a great show on their own, use a co-host format. A few popular podcasts used to be solo based shows and now use a cohost. Michael Hyatt did 100 episodes, I believe of his show This is Your Life before he changed formats and added a co-host. The Ray Edwards Show is one of my favorite business podcasts. Ray used to do the show solo and added his son, Sean Edwards, as a co-host. Here are the five reasons you should consider having a c0-host for your podcast; You will build an on-air rapport with the co-host you just won't have on a monolog based show. When you have a co-host, the show move from a presentation to a conversation. Having another person on the show encourages you to go deeper with your content. You do not have to carry the workload by yourself. A Co-host will sharpen your In-Front-of-People persona.

Coming up this week… How to triple your productivity… instantly. If God wants us healed, healthy, and wealthy… then why aren’t we? and then, of course, 7 Lessons Learned at the Gym From My Son” Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations If God wants us healed, healthy, and wealthy… then why aren’t we? Not long ago a man emailed me to ask me a tough question. “I was listening to your message. My wife and I are Christians for many years. We both believe that God will and can prosper us. But we have no more money. I have no job. We have debt. My wife has diabetes. We believe in healing, but we have not seen it. We believe in prosperity, but we are broke. We believe in it, but it is not working.” In this episode, I’ll tell you how I answered him… Tip Of The Week How to triple your productivity… instantly. Being productive is more about eliminating resistance (drag) than about getting better at anything. Here are 3 simple practices that, in my experience, will triple your output: Do one thing at a time, for a focused block of time (using a digital timer), to the exclusion of all else. Check email only once per day. Accept no incoming phone calls, and return voicemails only once per day. And here’s the thing: for these practices to work, you can’t do them half-heartedly. You must be a fanatic. You must bring intensity to the game. Try it with full-on emotional intensity for one week and see the difference in your output. If you want to go beyond productivity and become more EFFECTIVE (not just EFFICIENT) in every area of your life, you may want to consider attending the webinar with Michael Hyatt this week at https://rayedwards.com/bye-webinar This week, Michael will be showing you the seven steps you can take to use goal-setting to design the life you really want. This is going to help you have your best year ever in 2017. Feature Segment: “7 Lessons Learned at the Gym From My Son” I’ve been on a personal health quest over the last few months, proactively taking control of what I’m eating and the quality and frequency of the physical exercise I get. The results are clear. I’ve lost over 50 pounds, had to buy a new belt, and had to buy some new clothes. I have a lot more progress to make, but it’s been a very encouraging, if somewhat challenging experience. I’ve tried to take control of my health in the past, and frankly didn’t have a great deal of success, at least not long-term. This time, I decided to try something different: I have enlisted an accountability partner that I absolutely don’t want to disappoint. That accountability partner is my son, Sean Edwards. Sean is a great accountability partner and coach because he is unrelentingly truthful in his assessment of how I’m doing (“Hey dad, when you do those squats you need to go all the way down…”). He has a great sense of humor, and he is a good teacher. This week I share seven lessons I have learned from Sean in our time working out together. Here’s a little preview of what you’ll learn… The single best way to overcome inertia…doing this one this thing is half the battle. The secret to getting more from what you’re already doing. Here’s a hint…intensity matters. The truth about how to work with your physiology instead of against it…this works every single time. What most coaches and trainers don’t want you to know…this one thing will dramatically amplify your results. Plus – I’ll share the sneaky way to achieve things you think are impossible…it’s easier than you think! All this and more awaits you inside this episode! In this episode, we are still unaware of what the other half of the battle is, but we do know some things about the 2013 action movie, G.I. Joe: Retaliation. How can a villain trick the world into global nuclear disarmament? Does the U.S. military really have plans to steal Pakistan's nuclear weapons? Does The Rock action figure come with a kung-fu grip? In the second part of our two part Star Trek marathon, we continue to boldly overanalyze what no one had deemed necessary to overanalyze before: the nuclear nonsense in the fail Star Trek spin-off pilot, Assignment: Earth. Why did countries think it was a good idea to put nuclear weapons in space? What does it look like when a nuke goes off in the vacuum of space? Is it still okay these days to name your cat Isis? With the continued help of our special guest and Star Trek enthusiast Gabe, we answer these questions and more. Before we attempt a gravitational slingshot maneuver around the sun to travel back in time, we recommended reading Outer Space in World Politics, an edited volume organized by Joseph Goldsen in 1963, especially the chapter by renowned nuclear deterrence scholar, Thomas Schelling, on "The Military Use of Bombardment Satellites." I became aware of Jeff Goins through my friends Michael Hyatt and Stu McLaren. Jeff Goins has come “out of nowhere”, and over the last 18 months has taken the blogging world by storm. His blog readership has grown at an incredibly fast pace, and he landed a book deal with a major publisher. How did he do it? That's what we discuss in this week's interview on the podcast. And here's a clue: one of Jeff's favorite sayings is, “Stop waiting to be picked. Pick yourself.” It gets better: Stu McLaren returns to the podcast this week, sharing with us on the art of “lifestyle business”. Want to know a surefire way to grow your business like crazy? You want to hear this segment. Tip Of The Week and Spiritual Foundations This week's tip is a book recommendation, and I have to be right upfront about this: the book was written by my son, Sean Edwards. And it is awesome. Of course, I would say that. But it's a very good book nonetheless. The book is called The End Of Days, and it explains what the Bible actually says about the so-called “last days”. Surprise: what the Bible says is not what you find in the popular “Left Behind” novels and movies. Many Christians seem to think that believers are supposed to “hunker down” and wait for Jesus to come snatch them out of “the world”, which is going to “hell in a handbasket”. This kind of thinking leads Christians to become disengaged from the rest of the world. That's not what Jesus had in mind at all, and this book explains why the “left behind” view of the “end times” is not scriptural. John 3:16 is perhaps the best-known scripture in history. Interestingly, the next verse, John 3:17, is hardly ever quoted along with verse 16. Here's what the entire passage says: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (emphasis added) John 3:16-17 What if our job as Christians is not to judge the world, but rather to make it better? I recommend you buy this book and read it right away.
