Synopsis Maxxxine follows the titular character as she attempts to leave the porno film industry and enter into mainstream Hollywood. She's haunted by her past and is traumatized by the events of X that happened 6 years previously where she was the sole survivor of a homicidal elderly couple (spoilers). While struggling with the trauma and the difficulties of navigating Hollywood, several of her friends and acquaintances are murdered by a mysterious figure with black leather gloves. Will she achieve hollywood stardom? Will she be charged for murdering an elderly woman in Texas? Will she foil Dr Claw's plan to use a missile silo to launch a missile to destroy Metro City? Watch Maxxxine or skip forward to our spoiler section to find out. Review of Maxxine Maxxine continues the exploitation genre throwback vibe of X and Pearl, but this one is much less stylized, and frankly, less horror focused. It's more of a thriller/horror that is about as close as you come to an American Giallo. Maxine is surrounded by colleagues and acquaintances, but the maximum extent of the character development for them is “gay”. They end up all being disposable fodder for the prototypical faceless Giallo villain. Maxxxine, as we've seen in X is super capable and driven, and it ends up being one of the pitfalls of the movie. She is such a bad bitch that you never really believe she is in danger. Therefore, there isn't much of an arc in her character or the plot. It ends up being a waiting game to learn whodunnit. The cast is great, and includes Kevin Bacon doing an impression of Daniel Craig's Cajun accent. Giancarlo Esposito plays a character that isn't a rip off of Gus Fring, and there are other actors too. This film is a tribute to 80s cinema, and as such Ti West limited technology to that of the time period. It doesn't really seem noticeable in terms of quality of the visuals, but there are some very visceral practical effects that 80s horror fans will love. It's an enjoyable movie, and if you liked X and Pearl, this is a good capper, but for me it wasn't as interesting as those films. Score 7/10

I talk to Marc Andreessen about the Breaking Bad universe. Marc explains why he thinks Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have Nietzschean themes – or they at least give us the Nietzschean story we're allowed to have – while I tend more towards the idea that these are Christian morality tales.Other topics discussed include what makes individuals likable or not, why we would watch a Gus Fring origin story, and the relative absence of sex as a motivating force among the men in the show. It's often when market share is taken by those who are paying attention to the economic environment.Let me give you some examples.1) On the back of the 2008 GFC (Global Financial Crisis) many restaurants struggled as people cut back on spending.But, Mcdonald's thrived by offering “budget-friendly value meals.”2) In 2020 an accountant in my local area shifted his strategy when he noticed that small business owners needed help getting access to pandemic government grants.He could see that getting new accounting clients would be tough in the environment. So, he shifted to being a specialist in Government grants.His office is now twice the size it was the year before.When the environment changes, so does what works! It's kind of like the seasons.In summer it makes sense to use the A/C to keep your body temperature comfortable.In winter if you use that strategy it will only make things worse. (much worse)In winter it's a far better idea to use a heater or thermal clothing to keep your body temperature comfortable.The strategy you use to keep your body at an ideal temperature changes based on the season.Bull markets, bear markets and sideways markets are just different seasons.The strategies your business uses need to change as the economic seasons change.One thing we know is that the seasons will keep on changing.A better way to approach things is by developing the skills required as a business owner to do well in any season.Not only that…It pays to make sure you are informed of what season we are in and where we are heading as an economy.—————————COMMUNITY QUESTIONSHow to become emotionally fit to run a business?This topic hits home.The first few years I was in business I wasn't emotionally fit to be a business owner.I was a hot head and an absolute mess when it came to managing my emotions.When things were good in business I was ecstatic and excited.The best person to be around.When things were not going good…I was not good to be around at all.I was on the emotional rollercoaster.It was hard on those around me also.My wife, friends and teammates all paid a tax for having me in their life.It got to the point when I had to say enough is enough.I didn't like who I was becoming and could see it was limiting my success.I decided to hire a personal development coach.Someone to mentor me and guide me on becoming emotionally fit.My desire was to be one of those people that it doesn't matter what's going on around me, I will always be the coolest-headed person in the room.Never reacting and only responding intentionally to the situation at hand.Kinda like Gus Fring from the TV series “Breaking Bad”.After 12 months of intense training, the payoff was huge.The emotionally fit version of myself was able to reach much higher levels in business and with my wealth.Even today, people often quote how calm I am in challenging times.Here is one of the key concepts that helped me. After Breaking Bad wrapped its fifth and final season back in 2013, Gilligan and co-showrunner then moved onto Saul, which centered around the origins of the Saul Goodman character portrayed by Bob Odenkirk. Formerly known as Jimmy McGill, the show follows how the destabilizing relationship between Jimmy & his brother Chuck (Michael McKean) leads him down the dark road towards the life of crime. Likewise, it also serves as such for the character of Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), the elderly hitman and fixer as he ends up joining Gus Fring's (Giancarlo Esposito) criminal empire as Fring wages war with the cartel. Dom & Sean talk all about this show's history, how it got to where it is today, the gap of time between the last season and now as a result of the pandemic, whether this show is the last of its kind, and what it spells for the future of TV and the Albaquerque saga. Between them, a vengeful brother, and the actual police, the show could reflect on different viewpoints and methods for doling out justice. But unfortunately we don't get much of that and those searching for larger themes might be left wanting. But there's still plenty of absurdity, some good bursts of action, a punchline to one of the few through stories (Jimmy's divorce), not to mention both Gus Fring and Hector Salamanca from Breaking Bad in the same episode! Giancarlo Esposito can speak at length about his strategy for navigating a career in the arts, but what it all boils down to is quite simple: “Do what means something, and then don't be exclusive.” As first a child actor doing musical theater, then a voiceover and radio artist (Backstage magazine in hand), then as an award-winning scene-stealer onscreen, Giancarlo has pursued every role with the kind of passion required to persevere in such a fickle industry. “Your intention is proved out over time,” he tells his fellow artists. “If you feel like you're connected to that gift, then pursue that, whatever that is.” Born in Copenhagen and raised in Manhattan, Giancarlo spent his teenage years in Broadway musicals, then turned a radio and television communications degree at Elizabeth Seton College into a screen career.
