It's so easy to measure the healing of visual symptoms like skin rashes, constipation and diarrhea. It gets a lot harder to measure the improvement of your mood, sleep or your children's behavior. These tend to be symptoms that when they are present they are all consuming but as soon as they go away, you hardly remember how challenging they were. You can't take pictures or compare side by side. But when you witness the transformation like our guest, Bridget, did in her son - you sing it from the rooftops. Our gut health is so intimately connected to our mood, behavior, thought processes and focus. I cannot wait for you to hear how rebalancing helped Bridget get her son back. This is a statement that I hear often from mamas . . . “I got my child back!” As mothers, we are oftentimes the only ones who know with certainty that our children are not themselves. Everyone else can tell us “oh that's just how boys are” or “all kids experience hyper active symptoms at times”. This can be so isolating when we intuitively know differently. We know something is wrong and we desperately want to help them but society's way of normalizing symptoms, prolongs our journey. Tune in to hear Bridgets story and how you can heal your child from the inside. ❤️Links from the episode:Explore the Children's Gut Rebalance KitExplore the Women's Gut Rebalance KitExplore the Maintenance BundleExplore Balance CBDThanks for listening! Welcome to another episode of "Healthy Mind, Healthy Life." I'm your host Avik, and today we have a truly special guest with us, Kevin Kraft. He's not just a musician, sound healer, and children's book author but also a dedicated practitioner in the field of mindfulness and holistic well-being. Kevin's journey is truly remarkable. Born near deaf in one ear and facing speech impediments, he overcame these challenges to find his unique connection to the world of sound and healing. In 2008, his life took a transformative turn when he experienced the sacred sound current during a concert, which set him on a path of exploration into how music can be a powerful tool for healing, manifestation, release, and heightened awareness. Kevin is the founder of Soundshala, a platform that offers a unique mindfulness curriculum combining music, breathwork, movement, and meditation to help individuals experience the profound benefits of sound yoga. His practice encompasses a wide range of mindfulness areas, including Power Vinyasa, Himalayan Kriya Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and much more. Kevin employs various instruments, such as gongs, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, flutes, and drums, to create soundscapes that promote relaxation, balance, and inner harmony.
Join us for a fascinating conversation with BG Mancini, a licensed Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Physician, Functional Medicine Practitioner, Neurodevelopmental Specialist, and primary care provider for children and families. Her early adventures with superfoods and juicing, as well as her father's knowledge and experiences with healthy food, shaped her career path. We discuss why she created the Brain and Gut Institute and the importance of providing adult patients with resources and referrals for their children's medical needs. Listen in as we explore the role of the vagus nerve in the neurological development of children and how the presence of a parent or caregiver and the reciprocity of that relationship shapes the development of the cerebellum. We also discuss how technology and distractions can interfere with the ability to be present with a child and the importance of creating an environment of safety and security for the nervous system to develop resilience. Mancini shares her favorite methods for assessing the needs of a family, and we learn about the Safe and Sound Protocol. Discover the impact of frequency, intensity, and duration of exercises for those with brain injuries, the importance of breath work and heartbeat meditation, and how dietary triggers can cause inflammation. We also discuss how colored lenses can significantly impact brain development. Mancini shares an incredible story of a young girl who underwent a nine-week intensive program, which transformed her life. In this last episode of the current series of Dark Unicorn in Conversation, DU's Artistic Director Paddy Cooper talks to veteran actor Paul Freeman, whose career, spanning half a century, has taken in iconic roles such as the villainous Dr. René Belloq in "Raiders of the Lost Ark", arch-villain Ivan Ooze in the 1995 Power Rangers movie and the ambitious but principled Foreign Secretary Tom Makepeace in the final part of the original UK "House of Cards" Trilogy. In a wide-ranging interview Paul talks openly about his views on contemporary theatre and film, his long career and its many highlights, the moving experiences he has had with fans at conventions and his charitable work, not just as an active supporter of the Healing Children school for HIV/Aids orphans in Uganda, but also with the Refugee Buddy Project on the East Sussex coast which he now calls home and where he and his wife help raise both awareness of and practical help for refugees who land on the coast around Hastings. To find out more about the Refugee Buddy Project visit: http://www.therefugeebuddyproject.org To help support the Healing Children school, go to http://www.ukhealingfocus.org to find out how you can assist with the work of the UK Friends of Healing Focus. My guest this week is Stephanie Belseth, a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient primary care, pulmonology, asthma, early childhood screening, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Stephanie has a special interest in holistic wellness care, Gastrointestinal disorders, Autism, ADHD, Asthma, mental health disorders, PANS/PANDAS, Autoimmune disease, Pediatric Lyme and conditions that mimic it, and other complex chronic pediatric conditions. In this episode, Stephanie and I discuss the various infections that we see in children who are struggling with neurodevelopmental issues. We also highlight some of the environmental dangers (right in your own home) like EMF radiation and mold, that could be exacerbating these issues. Finally, Stephanie walks us through some examples of treatment protocols for these issues that are very encouraging for parents and children. To learn more about Stephanie Belseth click here. Episode Highlights Infectious issues related to neurodevelopmental challenges Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, Bartonella, Babesia Problems with mycoplasma, strep, viruses Many different kinds of conditions underlying parasitic or fungal overgrowth, bacterial dysbiosis in the gut and the microbiome PANDAS and co-infections Often times kids that come in diagnosed with PANDAS, actually have many other infections Blood-brain Barrier Kids have leaky blood-brain barriers Their blood-brain barriers are more permeable than they should be, either due to concussions, due to infection, microbiome problems, the gut-brain connection If the gut has increased permeability then the brain will have increased permeability Treatments that can help Often times kids aren't sleeping well, so improving sleep is a good place to start with treatment Melatonin, valerian root, and lemon balm can sometimes help Herbs, vitamins, CBD for lowering brain and gut inflammation Deep breathing skills, hopping skills, QNRT or Brainspotting or other kinds of techniques, EMDR Introducing more healthy fats into the diet and eating mostly anti-inflammatory foods can help Environmental dangers for kids EMF (electromagnetic fields) radiation from wifi and wifi enabled devices Too much screen time Overexposure to screens and devices can cause hyperactivity, irritability, and other neurological issues in kids There are physiological effects of EMF radiation, especially in kids that are extra sensitive, therefore, screen time and proximity to wifi should be limited Mold Exposure Mold can be a significant stressor on the immune system One out of two homes has some type of mold Test your home environment if you feel like you have tried everything for your child and they are still struggling to improve their neurological symptoms Where to learn more about Stephanie Belseth... Do I have the right to choose energy healing on my child's behalf?
Niche Radio — More than 20% of children will have a mental health issue at some point in their lives—but parents often don’t recognize or admit their child needs help until an average of 8 years after the first symptoms – frequently when they have reached a state of crisis. Today I speak to Dr Kurt Newman, who is president and CEO of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and is widely recognized as one of the nation’s best pediatric hospitals. Dr Newman has been a surgeon at Children’s National for over thirty years and is a professor of surgery and paediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. His recently published book Healing Children is the story of his own career and of the brave kids he has treated over the years—and their equally brave and tenacious parents. Anyone who has seen a child recover from a wound or a broken bone knows that kids are made to heal. Their bodies are more resilient, more adaptive, and far more able to withstand acute stress than adults. For generations, our esteemed guest has healed children, empowered families, and improved the pediatric medical system. Your heart will melt from the lesson he shares from a date night gone wrong with his future wife. And you'll get revved up when we discuss how the proposed health care plan directly effects children in this country.
