Great moody, almost electroclash esque analog gems. It's been interesting to see Rebotini's music come back around from the rave days through film scores to now without really changing much. No one does the nexus point of French House and EBM quite like him. 9 DJ Plant Texture - Life - Tresor RecordsThe first of two Tresor releases in my top 10, not sure what has been happening over there lately, but I'm here for it. A great weirdo techno 12 inch where opening track Repetitivo (Stretch Mix) sounding like Jeff Mills having eaten too many haribo, before mutating into scattered hats across the dancefloor, perhaps to trip up Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern who have broken into your house for some reason. 8 Autechre - Untilted - Warp Records Now to the first of two reissues in my list, and despite my somewhat negative thoughts as to their quote unquote live show I saw this year, I still love the music and this one in particular stuck out. Approachable but still properly mad. Proof that extreme computer music can be fun. 7 Clark - Steep Stims - Throttle Records I remember when Chris Clark came out with his first record and thinking that it too warp for warp records. I'm pretty sure we never met when I was in Berlin, unless I got him confused with Kid 606, in which case I apologize to you both. Anyway, Steep Stims is great, playful, emotional, one foot in the past and another in the future, really great work that I think will age really well. Solid work Mr Clark. 6 Emptyset - Dissever - Thrill Jockey Records Amazing new record from Emptyset, feels like they took all the lessons from all the later records and applied it to the earlier ones. Beautiful intense grinding drones, like someone built an installation of Sheer Hellish Miasma and I'm somehow in the room with it. 5 Merzbow, Iggor Cavalera, Eraldo Bernocchi - Nocturnal Rainforest - PAN Full disclosure, Iggor sent this to me, but it's been on my repeated listens ever since. Zen-like terror but incredibly dynamic. One of the best noise releases of the year and I'd go as far as to say a career highlight for each of the members. 4 Various Artists - 30 Years Sonic Groove - Sonic Groove Has it really been 30 years of Sonic Groove? Adam X compiles a collection of outstanding producers for this excellent collection of tracks. Highlights include the mutant acid of Bryan Zentz, the incomparable genius of Mike Parker and the industrial brutality of Statiqbloom. 3 Dopplereffekt - Metasymmetry - Tresor The second Tresor release on my list is the mighty Dopplereffekt. Beautiful, futuristic and unmistakably Detroit. Top 3 don't disagree! 2 Maria Somerville - Luster - 4AD Genuinely shocking to hear an artist on 4AD in 2025 that sounds like what an artist on 4AD sounds like in my head and it's great. Melancholic Ambient shoegaze for a new generation. 1 Coil - Black Antlers - Dais Records Black Antlers is not my favorite Coil album, but it is the one I least expected to be reissued as it was originally a tour only CDR that then got expanded. You could argue that it might not count as a proper Coil album, but who has time for these discussions. Some of the best music ever created. Nick (Disfigure; the one on the right in the pic) Favorites: Kommodus - A Foetal Wolf in Stained Glass - Probably my favorite release from Kommodus. Really awesome auxiliary instruments incorporated here and I like the unhinged melodic leads thrown in on a lot of the songs. It has a punkier tinge to it with the guitar tones and the vocals are equally as heavy Fellwinter - Dark Mediaeval Art - Pure riff-centric Judas Iscariot worship Magus Lord - In The Company of Champions - Epic in every way. I liked this better than the Lamp record this year but M has been writing fantastic black metal for a while and this side project is really refreshing to follow Ultimate Disaster - For Progress . . . - Perfectly written D-Beat in my opinion. Very tight songwriting and the riffs and solos are so well executed Valen - Viarum - I'm a huge Thangorodrim fan and this project has reminded me most of that. This was my go-to Dungeon Synth for some epic game nights this year Enceladus - Demo II - Another great release from this project. I love the half time parts, the more death metal sounding vocals, and just the ferocity of the songs while still being melodic Iron Firmament - Arcane Overspill - Amazing black metal from Washington, a state known for churning out amazing black metal for over two decades. I really love the production on this release, especially the interludes. This band writes amazing riffs and this has been a standout for me in their already exceptional discography Sharp Pins - Balloon Balloon Balloon - I love Power pop, I love Guided By Voices and Sharp Pins delivers on all fronts Occult Blood/Carrion Bloom - Battle Cries of Endless Night - Both sides of this split are fantastic. Put out by Wergild who can't miss lately with their bands/releases Utility - S/T - The hometown heroes! The whole release but especially the first song reminds me so much of Fired Up, one of my favorite CT hardcore bands of all time. Great songwriting and also absolutely on point with the energy and vocals. The demo before this is fantastic as well The Redscroll Podcast is a monthly show (first of the month going forward) that works as a companion to what we do at Redscroll Records in Wallingford, CT USA. Episode 6: "Throw Your Spuds" - Classic Doctor Who Comics Double Feature - Patreon Exclusive COMIC STRIP REVIEW #1: "The Hijackers of Thrax" (March 1-15, 1965) TV Comic, Three Parts Writer/Artist: Neville Main The First Doctor, John, and Jillian investigate disappearing supply ships bound for Earth's Venus colony in 2075. Pirates operating from a hidden space station obscured by artificial clouds have been stealing shipments. The Doctor disables the cloaking device, exposing the hijackers' base and saving Earth's colonial supply line. Jim declares this his favorite of the three strips so far due to the Earth connection and clever cloud-station concept, while John finds all three equally unremarkable. The hosts remain baffled why the strip doesn't equally target boys and girls when the TV show clearly features prominent female characters like Barbara alongside the male cast. COMIC STRIP REVIEW #2: "Power Play" (February 13 - March 5, 1965) TV Century 21, Three Parts Writer: David Whitaker (from Terry Nation's plot) Artist: Richard Jennings The Daleks face their next evolutionary step - getting off Skaro! After the radioactive devastation, two warring human factions on Skaro seek allies. The Daleks strategically align with one group against their aggressors, not out of compassion but calculated self-interest. By story's end, the Daleks possess plans for flying saucers - directly setting up their appearance in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" TV serial. John liked this installment as much or more than "Genesis of Evil," appreciating how it serves TV continuity while telling compelling standalone stories. Jim loves the symbiosis between source material and offshoot when done correctly. LOOKING AHEAD: Next Doctor Who comic: Sequel to "The Web Planet" featuring the Zarbi! The hosts are curious whether this represents BBC pushing the Zarbi as "the next Daleks" after their expensive costume investment, or editorial response to reader demands for more TV show connections Next Dalek comic: "Duel of the Daleks" promises intrigue Jim has started reading a First Doctor prose novel for future Patreon discussion The hosts debate whether kids recognized the strips' disconnection from the TV series, and wonder about the demographics of British comics magazines in 1965. Was it primarily boys despite Doctor Who's mixed-gender appeal? Subscribe to The Doctor's Beard Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, and all major podcast platforms. In this gripping episode of the Mike Drop podcast, host Mike Ritland sits down with Harry Samit, a former U.S. Navy intelligence officer and retired FBI agent who played a pivotal role in one of the most significant counterterrorism cases in history: the arrest of Zacarias Moussaoui, the "20th hijacker" of the 9/11 attacks. Samit shares chilling details of his investigation in the weeks leading up to September 11, 2001, revealing how close the FBI came to uncovering the hijacker's plot and the bureaucratic roadblocks that hindered their efforts. With a career spanning naval intelligence to FBI counterterrorism, Samit offers a unique perspective on the challenges of combating extremism and the personal toll of being at the forefront of such high-stakes investigations. From uncovering Moussaoui's ties to the 9/11 hijackers to battling FBI headquarters for permission to search his belongings, Samit's story is a heart-pounding narrative of instinct, frustration, and resilience. He recounts the moment he realized the magnitude of the missed opportunity and the emotional weight of survivor's guilt that lingers to this day. Packed with never-before-heard details and candid reflections, this episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the untold stories behind one of America's darkest days and the relentless pursuit of justice in its aftermath. In the summer of 1970, Soviet Jewish dissidents Eduard Kuznetsov and Mark Dymshits organized a group of 16 refuseniks to take over a small, 12-seater airplane and escape from the USSR. Dubbed “Operation Wedding,” the group booked their tickets on the small civilian aircraft under the guise of attending a wedding. Their plan: to board the flight, forcibly remove the pilots during a stop, and continue on to Israel. But on the morning of June 15, as they arrived to board their flight, KGB agents intercepted the group. The accused were charged with high treason, and the trial drew international attention - and shined a light on the human rights violations the Soviet government was committing, igniting the Soviet Jewry movement as we know it. Narrated by Rebecca Naomi Jones and featuring Anat Zalmanson-Kuznetsov. D.B. Cooper, also known as Dan Cooper, is a mysterious figure who became infamous for hijacking a Boeing 727 aircraft on November 24, 1971. The enigmatic character boarded the plane in Portland, Oregon, and during the flight, he revealed that he had a bomb and demanded $200,000 in ransom, as well as parachutes. Cooper released all the passengers after the ransom was delivered, and then ordered the plane to fly to Mexico. Hijacker fills in for Robert
USAID and other U.S. bureaucracies are paying billions to terrorists, so it's no wonder attacks are surging. For the first time in nearly a decade, terrorism spread to more countries, and lone wolf attacks surged in the West. The Terrorist Therapist®, Carole Lieberman, M.D., M.P.H., explains what's happening. Investigation of USAID, by President Trump and Elon Musk, through DOGE, has unveiled outrageous sums going to terrorist organizations because of incompetence and fraud. Some of themoney was ridiculous woke waste - like a DEI musical in Ireland and a transgender comic book in Peru. But, some had more serious consequences, like millions to fund farming equipmentfor the Taliban, so they could grow more poppies to sell heroin, and billions for terrorists linked to Al Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas and others. Not only did America fund global terrorist organizations, it fundedtop terrorists like Anwar al-Awlaki, who was provided with a scholarship after he lied on his application to Colorado State. Al-Awlaki went on to become a cleric who influenced many wannabe terrorists, including two 9/11 hijackers. But, there's hope, too. Trump extradited Mohammad Sharifullah, the top terrorist behind the Abbey Gate bombing that killed 13 U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. He's also out to end anti-semitism at American colleges - starting with the ICE arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, at Columbia, who will be stripped of his visa and green card. And there's more….

Ever wondered what would happen if a group therapy session for people afraid of flying turned into a hostage situation? Neither did I, but Turbulence 2: Fear of Flying takes off with that premise and crashes it gloriously into the realm of “so bad it's amazing.” The Plot (LOL): The movie starts with a group of nervous fliers boarding a fancy plane to conquer their aerophobia. But mid-flight, surprise! Hijackers reveal their master plan: not only to take over the plane but also unleash a deadly chemical weapon for… reasons? A ragtag group of passengers—including a guy who conquered his fear of flying just in time—must outwit the hijackers, survive turbulence (the metaphorical kind too), and prevent the worst-case scenario. The Cast: Craig Sheffer plays the reluctant everyman hero, Ryan Weaver, who, let's face it, spends the whole movie with a mix of confusion and mild constipation. Jennifer Beals is the love interest-slash-voice of reason, adding just enough gravitas to remind us this movie had a budget. The villain? A generic, vaguely Eastern European bad guy whose motivations are so nonsensical you'll forget them halfway through the film. But hey, he's got a leather jacket and a bad attitude, so that's something! The Very Stupid Ending: Oh, the villain's "brilliant" plan? It unravels with 30 minutes left. Turns out, unleashing chemical weapons while on the same plane wasn't exactly a stroke of genius. The plot holes are large enough to fly a 747 through. By the time Ryan literally punches his way to victory (because in-flight security is no match for his fist), you'll be rooting for the plane to land just so everyone can go home and think about their life choices. Why It's So Good: The dialogue is so cheesy you'll get calcium poisoning. The special effects—mainly shaky cameras and stock footage of planes—make you nostalgic for middle school PowerPoint transitions. And the stakes? Well, let's just say the characters might survive, but logic didn't even make it through the opening credits. Final Verdict: Turbulence 2 is a disaster movie for people who love disasters—in every sense of the word. It's the cinematic equivalent of finding out your in-flight meal is a microwaved ham sandwich: disappointing, weirdly satisfying, and undeniably hilarious when you're at 30,000 feet. Grab some popcorn, and let this plane crash land straight into your guilty pleasure watchlist.

There's this fascinating little town called ‘Little Japan.' It's a gated community with cookie-cutter houses, though they boast beautiful chandeliers and heated floors, and all of them have a matching set of priceless portraits hanging on their walls. The residents are nine Japanese families, hence the name, and they have their own private chefs, maids, even chauffeurs in black Mercedes. He got $200,000 from the FBI and parachuted out of an airliner into the stormy wilderness of Washington state. They've never found him or even figured out who he was. But one man has stepped forward with a likely answer, thanks to his mom.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
