ARE YOU READY TO GET SLICIN & DICIN WITH SIR. STURDY HORROR FANS? IF YOU DON'T KNOW BY NOW I AM YOUR HOST SIR. STURDY. Welcome to "STURD - O - VISION," where we dissect and debate the most electrifying and horrifying films in the annals of horror cinema. In this thrilling episode, we pit two iconic films against each other: Wes Craven's 1989 shocker, aptly titled "Shocker," and the 1990 continuation of a horrifying legacy, "Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III," directed by Jeff Burr. "Shocker" takes us into the dark world of Horace Pinker, a deranged serial killer who harnesses electricity to continue his killing spree from beyond the grave. This film blends supernatural elements with the slasher genre, showcasing Wes Craven's flair for innovative horror and psychological thrills. On the other side of our macabre ring, "Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III" thrusts us back into the gruesome and unforgiving world of the Sawyer family, with Leatherface wielding his infamous chainsaw once more. Directed by Jeff Burr, this film delves deeper into the dark, rural terror that has haunted audiences since the original. Throughout this episode, we'll explore how each film reflects the evolving horror landscape of the late '80s and early '90s, compare their approaches to building suspense and terror, and discuss their iconic antagonists. We'll also dive into the directors' techniques, examining how Craven's visionary style contrasts with Burr's gritty realism. So, sharpen your blades and brace for sparks as we delve deep into these two chilling tales of murder and mayhem. Join us on "STURD - O - VISION" as we decide which film leaves a more lasting scar on the psyche of horror aficionados everywhere. Will it be the electric mayhem of "Shocker" or the chainsaw-wielding madness of "Leatherface"? Tune in to find out! WELCOME TO THE MADNESS!!!!!!! WANT YOUR FACEBOOK COMMENTS TO SHOW UP ON RESTREAM? In 1989 Wes Craven attempted to create a new horror franchise with a Freddy Krueger-type killer named Horace Pinker. Despite a unique marketing campaign, the series failed at launch. Over thirty years later the film has been re-evaluated and gained a loyal following. Mike and Deke take a deep dive to discuss if Pinker stands on his own or buckles under the shadow of his bigger, stripe-sweatered brother. And what hidden meaning could Shocker be an allegory for? Find out here on The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
Melinda Mock of RetroBlasting joins us to revisit one of her teenage favourites: Wes Craven's Shocker (1989) – a bizarre attempt to create a new slasher franchise with The X-Files' Mitch Pileggi as psychotic serial killer Horace Pinker, who gains supernatural possession abilities after being executed in the electric chair. Future director Peter Berg plays a college football star player whose adoptive family and girlfriend fall victim to Pinker's homicidal urges. Can he figure out how to stop the electrically charged menace before he strikes again? Can he do it with a late 80s hair metal soundtrack raging in the background? And is this a hidden gem overshadowed by Craven's monumental franchises? Find out! Follow RetroBlasting at www.retroblasting.com, on YouTube or Twitter. Shockerrrrrr!!!! This episode we are discussing the 1989 Wes Craven film Shocker. We are joined by Cortney Sanders to decide how well Craven's attempt at a new franchise post Nightmare on Elm Street and a new villain post Freddy in Horace Pinker holds up. Was this the beginning of a new era or would Craven have to hold off a few more years for his dreams of a new franchise to come to fruition. I think we all know the answer to that but still take a listen as we dive into the heavy metal laced horror flick Shocker starring a young Peter Berg. https://veryunreasonablethings.com/ Twitter: @VUTpodcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Very-Unreasonable-Things-102845525174413/ Instagram: veryunreasonablethings Intro Music: Switch Me On by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com/ Outro Music: SQZ by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com/
Back in 1989 Wes Craven attempted to create a rival slasher to his creation, Freddy Kreuger with Horace Pinker, a serial killer who uses electricity to come back from the dead. Did this work? Does Shocker still spark any interest for today's audience? The Surgeons team dissect the film to find out.

1989's Shocker is a teenage boy pleaser, with its heavy metal soundtrack and bad ass baddie, Horace Pinker. A lot of Wes Craven trademarks in this film, and parallels to A Nightmare on Elm Street, with Peter Berg picking up the lead role as Jonathan Parker, a young man whose dreams might just be the key to finding the killer.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/HorrorMovieSurvivalGuide)
The King of Horror Andy G wasn't ready to move on from the films of the late Wes Craven so he decided for his pick, the boys would go back to 1989 for "Shocker". Starring Mitch Pileggi as the deranged tv repair man; Horace Pinker and Peter Berg as Johnathan "I run into everything like a three stooges episode" Parker. The boys of Talking Terror definitely hope that you aren't all too shocked by their opinions of the movie! Plus, they might be joined by special guest Jennifer Lynn. Not only has she met Mitch Pileggi on two separate occasions but once in a Shocker cosplay! There's always plenty of terror to go around on the show! So join the crew and prepare for the scare!
In this episode the FM3 talk about Wes Craven’s 1989 film “Shocker”. The boys realize very quickly that they watched a wobbly ass rollercoaster of a film filled with all sorts of insane nonsense, and it may or may not be the masterpiece old uncle Wes had hoped for. Prepare to be “shocked”!
Take all the good stuff you loved about A Nightmare on Elm Street, put it in a pile, and then light it on fire, THEN use all the stuff that you didn't love and make a piece of crap with an electric ghost and you still might have made a better film that Wes Craven provided in his 1989 flop Shocker. We can't decide if it makes it better or worse that the man who gave us Freddy tried to burden us with Horace Pinker the serial-killer-turned-electricity-Gremlin, but the experience is made somewhat bearable by a swearing child and sweet hair metal theme song. Be careful what you stick in the light socket this week on Horror Movie Night, you pervs!

We look at Wes Craven's 1989 attempt to launch another horror icon: body-hopping, electric-powered slasher Horace Pinker.
