Hey everybody! This week we are discussing a sequel 35 years in the making, Blade Runner 2049. Listen as we breakdown this incredibly crafted sci-fi, neo noir that honors the original while expanding on the concepts and story that Blade Runner began all those years ago. Enjoy!
Blade Runner 2049, the long in the works sequel to Ridley Scott's sci fi classic, was a critical hit whose box office never quite lived up to its ambitious budget. But, here in the season 3 premiere of the CineFix Top 100, Clint, Cal and Alex talk about whether the film ever had a chance to make money, the incredible accident that made the original Blade Runner a classic, how hard Harrison Ford is trying in the film and whether or not Denis Villenueve is actually the Christopher Nolan we deserve. Meanwhile, Dan's algorithm is learning how to feel finger to finger. Interlinked. CineFix Top 100 was created by Clint Gage and Dan Parkhurst and is produced by Tayo Oyekan, with Director of Photography, Jamie Parslow and Technical Producer, Marhyan Franzen. Our Executive Producers are Clint Gage and Corrado Caretto. Logo and graphic design by Eric Sapp and title animations by Casey Redmon. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Uh, not a great way to intro this one. We talk about genocide in Palestine, the atrocities being committed there, how major news media companies are complicit in war crimes based upon their skewed coverage, how Israeli actions will directly impact (and already are impacting) Americans fighting for abortion access/trans rights/everything else, and the stuff that keeps us going in the face of a world seemingly only getting worse. No, seriously, we have some hopeful stuff. We would not have done this episode without that. We get it, there's a lot of doom and gloom in the world and you may already be aware of the stuff going on over there. You also might not listen to Joel's annoying voice reading summaries of war crimes for 15 minutes straight. If you want to skip to where we start talking about the lessons to take away for America, go to 35:38. If you want to skip to where Joel and Naomi talk about what is giving us hope and how to fight back, skip to 49:10Here's a piece above passive voice used by media for the current conflict...and here's a piece from 2001 pointing out the exact same thing being done for Israel/Palestine issues. Here's some information about oil deposits in Palestine. Here's some information on settler's developing Gazan real estate. Here's the article "I don't know how you explain why you should care about other people."Joel didn't fully explain the Emily's List/UDP connection. This article goes into more detail. With so much going on in Israel, it was wonderful to once again have the opportunity to do a program with Caroline Glick. We speak about the latest judicial over reach by the justice system, and the Supreme Court, and how it is directly connected to the anti-Jewish agenda that was just exposed with the protests against the Yom Kippur prayer services I spoke about in this recent episode: https://pulseofisrael.com/2023/09/28/development-yom-kippur/ This episode was recorded right before the Sukkot holiday began.

RNIB Connect Radio's Toby Davey is joined again by Vidar Hjardeng MBE, Inclusion and Diversity Consultant for ITV News across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands for the next in his regular Connect Radio theatre reviews. This week we have a triple bill of ballet performances by Birmingham Royal Ballet spanning 100 years with Still Life, Interlinked, and Apollo at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Saturday 10 June at 2.30pm with description by Professional Audio Describers Julia Grundy and Jonathan Nash. Three contrasting ballets created across the last 100 years, from George Balanchine's exquisite Apollo, to Juliano Nunes's Interlinked, and David Bintley's engaging but poignant look at human impact on the world, 'Still Life' at the Penguin Café. A colourful host of endangered animals seek shelter from the storm in David Bintley's ‘Still Life' at the Penguin Café. Featuring a morris-dancing flea, a ballroom-dancing ram, a hoe-downing rat, a majestic zebra and many more, this is an ‘unforgettable' (Sunday Times), witty and enjoyable, yet bittersweet and poignant look at human impact on the world. All danced to Simon Jeffes's delightful score, originally composed for the Penguin Café Orchestra. 'Pure genius' (The Sunday Express on ‘Still Life') The ‘quiet perfection' (The Guardian) of Apollo highlighted the genius of its creator, the then 24-year-old George Balanchine, and launched his lifelong partnership with the composer Igor Stravinsky. This most exquisite of ballets was regarded by Balanchine as his artistic coming of age. Its pared back elegance gives the perfect platform for the Company's world-class dancers to shine. 'Sublime' (The Sunday Times on Apollo) Brilliant young Brazilian choreographer Juliano Nunes's Interlinked was premiered in summer 2022 as part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival. Described as ‘stretching ballet's mould' by The Guardian, with a specially composed score by Australian composer Luke Howard, this beautifully abstract piece explores ideas of grace, beauty and harmony in ways that push the usual boundaries of classical dance. For more about Birmingham Royal Ballet and audio described performances of their productions do visit their website - https://www.brb.org.uk/access-performances (Image shows RNIB logo. If the last three years taught business leaders anything, it was the importance of agility and resilience. While organisations have largely adapted and addressed the effects of the pandemic, change is constant and there's a need to keep pace with emerging economic and social circumstances. Therefore, operations must be continually reviewed and reinvented to fit in with the evolving business landscape. For many, they are turning to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to bring company data and applications together, thus taking a fresh approach to core business processes and day-to-day tasks. While ERP is likely to have an immediate effect for these organisations, this is a decision that will impact their trajectory for years to come in terms of operational flexibility and resilience. Overcoming Challenges As companies manage the transition to next-generation ERP with digital solutions and cloud features, they must mitigate risks by first addressing their most urgent business challenges and then preparing for a full transformation using ERP. However, getting this strategy right has the potential to drive business success and growth – both today and in the future – by automating processes, increasing efficiency, streamlining operations, enhancing visibility, and supporting service delivery. One of the biggest issues relates to the disruption of supply chains, particularly for SMBs working with fine margins. Factories and warehouses are operating with smaller workforces and abiding by strict safety procedures. With workers spread thin, it's vital that managers have total visibility and access to necessary data in order to successfully manage their supply chains and keep business operations continuing as normally as possible. ERP means more access to such necessary information, thus preventing the supply chain from becoming a bottleneck for the business. Another obstacle for organisations is a lack of integration between mobile capabilities and the ERP system. This can result in responsibilities being neglected altogether, but it can be easily addressed given that the technology exists to carry out almost any task remotely on a mobile device. Committing to mobile allows companies to get ahead of the competition and leverage valuable, real-time data – including customer order status, inventory levels and quotes. Reaping Rewards If staff continue to work in a hybrid way, which is likely, organisations will increasingly see sections of their site underutilised. When this occurs, a long-term trend will naturally be to downsize on floor space and make additional savings on rent. Cloud-based servers represent a fantastic opportunity to capitalise on this tendency to downsize by shifting focus online. Traditionally, businesses have had three primary concerns about implementing cloud technology: privacy, interoperability and cost. Decision-makers want to be sure that sensitive data is secure, that major systems on which their business relies can be linked together, and that it will be cost-effective. A report by Gartner has suggested that cloud environments are expected to experience 60% fewer security incidents than traditional data centres. Therefore, while security is always of paramount concern, it seems the cloud is winning out over on-site solutions. Interlinked with this is the capability to take advantage of real-time data analytics, which allows staff at all levels of an organisation to make quick and evidence-based decisions from anywhere in the world. This means that orders and stock levels can be monitored and addressed more quickly and accurately than by antiquated systems that are operated on the factory floor. By giving organisations real-time transparency with and visibility of sales, inventory, production and financials, ERP equips businesses with powerful insights that enable more agile decisions and improve resilience. Furthermore, robust e-commerce capabilities help companies better engage with online customers before...

Ending the year on a high having witnessed a plethora of musical highlights, Meanwhile has been a shining beacon for progressive house throughout 2021. Now, Australian, Mike Rish, becomes the latest debutant to showcase his talents on GMJ & Matter's blossoming imprint with the 3-track “Beyond” EP. From his home on Australia's south-eastern coast, Mike Rish has witnessed an impressive rise to notoriety, courtesy of a clutch of high-profile releases on an exclusive set of blue-chip labels. Not wanting to flood the progressive house scene with a swathe of formulaic dance music, the Melbourne resident's “selective output” is based on a carefully thought-out commitment to “keep people engaged, but also wanting more”. Thus, Rish's work for the likes of Colorize, Serendeep and Juicebox Music, has seen the Australian carve out a sizeable niche for himself, further enhanced by March 2021's 12-track “Interlinked” album for UGENIUS Music. Opening his Meanwhile account with the “Beyond” title track, a chunky beat and cavernous bass groove sit tightly against off-beat hats and snare. Filtering into sonic range, an elegant arpeggio provides glorious melodic interplay as white-noise washes and meandering pads pulse gently across the near 10-minute piece. Full of spine-tingling atmosphere, additional melodic phrasing is introduced at the breakdown before extending into the third movement with ease, combined with a raft of effects and masterful touches. A bouncing bass groove immediately finds “Mindgame” oozing with hypnotic force and low-end menace. Sat perfectly in between deep kick and ticking hats, a flowing melodic line ripples across proceedings as it rises and falls with filtered dynamism. Twisted vocal cuts and acetylene-edged synth effects pitch with glissando range adding to the aural collage in a track full of dark and mesmerising beauty. Closing the EP, “Here For You” is characterised by an intricate percussive arrangement that introduces a subtle melodic backdrop. Effects and textured pads span the stereo stage in modulated glory as a pulsating lead melody enters the fray in the second movement. Building steadily before revealing itself fully in the stripped back breakdown, the second half blossoms in commanding fashion with a pulsating confluence of rhythm and melody. The result is a track that illustrates Mike Rish's unique talent and technique. A musical triptych full of innovation and sonic narrative, Mike Rish has gone above and “Beyond” with a glittering display of production prowess. India's defeat against Pakistan in T20 World Cup has been greeted sharply by both countries with a nationalist mindset. In episode 868 of CutTheClutter, Shekhar Gupta explains how the India-Pakistan sporting ties and India-Pakistan diplomatic relations move in tandem and how if the India-Pakistan relationship was good, Pakistan's win would not have created such bitterness on one side and euphoria on the other.

Have you ever felt paralyzed by having to meet high expectations for yourself? If you're a writer (current or aspiring), a creative, or intuitive person, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's that moment when you get that creative spark. That intuitive download of inspiration. So many ideas! So many possibilities. But then anxiety sets in and you start to feel that resistance. Before you know it, you're sitting in front of a blank page and you're unable to get yourself to write anything at all. My dear friend and recent podcast guest, Peg Cheng, said, “When you feel that resistance, that's the old voice.” “Don't stop yourself before you start.” Join me for this insightful interview with Peg, where she shares her story on how she became a writer (and how she got wounded when she decided to go full-time). You'll hear about how Peg went through the belly of the whale and how her high expectations for her achievement had her paralyzed and left her unable to write for years (which is ultimately how she created her class, Fear in Writing.) If you're a writer or a creative of any sort, then it's important to know that a lot of writers go through the very same struggle in their journeys as well. And what's helpful is when you both meet other writers who have gone through the same journey and hear their stories of how they experienced, processed, triumphed, overcame the obstacles that are very unique to creatives and writers. If you've ever felt like taking a leap of faith, following your hunches, and trusting your gut, you're going to want to save this episode. Peg also shares how she followed and trusted her intuition to close out and end her career coaching practice to transition into the next phase of her life. Peg Cheng is the author of Rebel Millionaire, a guide for how to retire as a millionaire even if you make a modest income, and The Contenders, a novel about whether enemies can become friends. She is also the CEO of Plaid Frog Press, a publishing company that she runs with her husband Marcus Donner. When she's not at her desk, Peg loves teaching workshops, digging in the garden, looking for wildlife, studying tarot, and looking for awe in everyday life. In previous lives, she worked in 35 jobs including fabric cutter, public toilet researcher, career counselor, and prelaw adviser. Born in Southern California to Taiwanese parents, Peg currently lives in Seattle, Washington. Arindam Chakrabarti’s Realisms Interlinked: Objects, Subjects, and Other Subjects (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019), not only brings together his wide-ranging research from the past three decades, but brings together Indian philosophers with analytic philosophers in an extended reflection on metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind and language. He takes up these topics under the three broad categories of objects, subjects, and other subjects, investigating where arguments for the existence of ordinary objects might lead us: towards accepting the reality and perceptibility of universals and the existence of immaterial yet embodied selves. Chakrabarti’s arguments engage with well-known analytic thinkers like Russell, Strawson, and Dummett, along with well-known Indian thinkers like Śaṅkara, Nāgārjuna, and Uddyotakara, though always for the purpose of philosophical progress, not mere comparison or historical exegesis. In this installment of Interlinked, Jaime, Patrick, and Dan are joined by recurring guest, and listener Murray and his daughter Eve to discuss all things Blade Runner. The question ' what does it mean to be human?', continues to be the center question as we process what the story and characters of Blade Runner mean to us. We discuss all of this and more with our guest, and his young daughter, hearing a fresh perspective on a topic that never gets old. We hope you enjoy. // iTunes: bit.ly/shoulderoforionitunes // Google Play: bit.ly/shoulderoforiongoogleplay // For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.bladerunnerpodcast.com // If you'd like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: Fields of Calantha. // To support the show, please consider visiting www.bladerunnerpodcast.com/support. Estos son: Blade Runner Black Out 2022, 2036: Nexus Dawn y 2048: Nowhere to Run. Los tres se pueden ver en Youtube.

At present, the world is going through another, possibly even stronger revolution: the use of artificial intelligence to perform complex cognitive tasks to solve business problems in ways that were previously either highly complicated or extremely resource-intensive. Today, organizations must be innovative and leverage the latest technologies simply to stay in business. Enterprises that implement online retail, banking, and other services aren’t considering these channels as just another route to increase their revenue. It is important to understand that to undergo digital transformation, companies may need to completely re-engineer their current processes to make use of technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence, and others instead of doing patchwork on existing processes to adapt to digital technologies. Furthermore, it is also important for senior IT executives to consider digital initiatives in tandem with their cloud strategy instead of treating them in isolation.Speak with our consultants to know more about career transition challenges or speak with our trainer @ instagram.com/ark_rajofficialWe from BEPEC are ready to help you and make you shift your career at any cost. For more details visit: https://www.bepec.in/machinelearningcourseBepec registration form : https://www.bepec.in/registration-formCheck our youtube channel for more videos and please subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn1U...Check our Instagram page: https://instagram.com/bepec_solutions/Check our Facebook Page : https://www.facebook.com/Bepecsolutions/
Hey there word nerds! Today I am delighted to have Yang Huang on the show! Yang is an author and former engineer. She grew up in China’s Jiangsu province where she participated in the 1989 student uprisings, and moved to the U.S. to attend Boston College. Her debut novel, Living Treasures, won the Nautilus Book Award silver medal in fiction, and her essays and short stories have appeared in several notable magazines and journals including The Margins, Asian Pacific American Journal, and Porcupine Literary Arts Magazine just to name a few. Her latest book, My Old Faithful, is a collection of interlinked short stories centered around the five members of one totally ordinary yet thrillingly singular Chinese family. So listen in as Yang and I chat about this amazing story collection, and how and why you should always write dangerously. In this episode Yang and I discuss: The benefits of writing in your non-native language. Interlinked short story collections vs. multiple P.O.V. novels. How to immerse yourself in your character’s world, why you should. Why diverse readers need diverse writers. Risking it all, pushing your writing (and your readers) to the edge. Plus, Yang’s #1 tip for writers. For more info and show notes: DIYMFA.com/217

Prof Bullinger speaks with ecancer about Work Package II, a project within HARMONY focused on the focused and interlinked research into haematological malignancies. He describes the uniqueness of the project in uniting many disciplines and stakeholders, and considers how the data generated from the project can be analysed with deeper dimensions of disease subtype, evolution, and progression. Prof Bullinger notes the HARMONY project is only at its inception, and looks forward to pilot studies producing results within the next few years.
Emerson Pratt gives an overview of the development and use of the technology that allows lecture theatres within the Dunedin campus and also in Christchurch and Wellington to be “Interlinked” so students and staff in these locations can collaborate in the presentation of lectures. It allows lecturers of large first year courses to deliver fewer repeat lectures, and means open lectures can be attended by much larger audiences. The solution developed is more flexible than traditional video conferencing systems and has also been achieved at a fraction of the cost of proprietary black box solutions. This project was the winner of the inaugural NZ Tertiary IT Conference innovations award (sponsored by Microsoft) presented in September 2009. Who: Emerson Pratt, Teaching & Learning, Facilities Manager, ITS, When: 1pm, 21 October 2009, Where: Quad 3 Lecture Theatre, University of Otago.
