Unser Gast: Marcel Flemming Wir lassen uns in dieser Folge in die ziemlich geheime Welt des tiefgründigen Duftes der Iris entführen: Unser Gast, der Biologe Marcel Flemming aus Regensburg, wühlt sich gleichermaßen durch die Erde wie auch durch Labor-Ergebnisse. Um den Anbau der empfindlichen und kostbaren Rhizome – meistens im Süden Frankreichs und im nördlichen Italien – und erst recht um die Weiterverarbeitung, rankt sich viel Geheimniskrämerei. Sogar die Begriffe rund um diesen exorbitant teuren Naturduft werden uneinheitlich bis unkorrekt verwendet und auch die Analysen der Inhaltsstoffe sind oft missverständlich. Es wird Zeit für mehr Klarheit rund um diesen Duft, mit dem übrigens auch Speisen aromatisiert werden. Für den erdig-himmlischen Duft der unterschiedlichen Iris-Extrakte sind unter anderem Irone verantwortlich, das sind Moleküle, die erst durch den Luftsauerstoff aus Vorstufen (Iridale, welche geruchlos sind) entstehen. Irone sind den Ionon-Molekülen extrem ähnlich, diese bergen vielfältige therapeutische Möglichkeiten wie in etlichen Studien belegt werden konnte, beispielsweise aktivieren sie Rezeptorproteine („Riechrezeptoren“) in (erkranktem) Prostatagewebe: Der Veilchen/Iris-Riechstoff ist also ein ähnlich aufgebautes Molekül wie ein Stoffwechselprodukt des männlichen Sexualhormons Testosteron. Dealerships, whether metric or v-twin focused are in a bit of a predicament. Those of us that are in the industry love this thing we do called powersports - riding a powered thing in a sporting way ;-) BUT we have been struggling despite our best efforts to keep our doors swinging with new customers. We can blame the parents of bubble wrapped kids, we can blame the electronics that kids get to play with but whatever the reason you feel is most legitimate, you have to know that there is a big issue on having the right number of next generation people to hand the powersports baton to in the coming years. Enter STACYC... A company that built their first prototype to help get a proper size/weight powered bike for the owner Ryan Ragland's son to ride that wasn't as big and heavy as was currently available. Once there was interest from neighbors for this electric powered balance bike, Ryan moved forward to what is now known as the STACYC bike that is owned by Harley-Davidson but sold to metric dealers as SYACYC and Harley dealers as IRONe bikes. I have to say how impressed I am that H-D chose to do that. Best known to audiences as T-Dog in the world of The Walking Dead and as the menacing thug Alton in the 2010 Academy® Award-nominated film The Blind Side, IronE Singleton's ability to play strong, multidimensional characters has made him a memorable actor in both film and television. Singleton most recently appeared on the big screen alongside Bow Wow and Ice Cube in Lottery Ticket. In 2011, he will be seen alongside Nicolas Cage, Guy Pearce and January Jones in the feature film The Hungry Rabbit Jumps. Singleton's talent has been on display recently in several television pilots, including ABC's “Detroit 1-8-7,” VH1′s “Single Ladies,” and TNT's “Franklin & Bash.” Among his other television credits are CW's “One Tree Hill” and BET's “Somebodies.” Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Singleton's story embodies everything we have come to understand about the lives of many inner city youth growing up in low-income housing projects. Having lost his mother to HIV/AIDS when he was a senior in high school, and watching his brother spend most of his life in Georgia's prison system, IronE fought to have a life far different from the one he knew growing up. The “irony” of his story is that, while all the odds were stacked against him, IronE Singleton still overcame his troubled childhood to attend the University of Georgia on academic and football scholarships, where he completed a double major in Theater and Speech Communications. Prior to breaking into film and television, Singleton put on a one-man theater show entitled IronE… The Resurrected, which garnered rave reviews. In his spare time, Singleton is a Youth Motivational Speaker and youth sports referee.
