Sagittarius Full Moon: Neo-Catholic Mysticism, Tarot, and Ancestral Fire – Conversation with Sagittarius Cesar Gutierrez

In this episode, Jeff Hinshaw explores the Sagittarius Full Moon , a luminous culmination in Gemini season that illuminates the dynamic polarity between Gemini's curiosity and Sagittarius' quest for truth and expansion. In this episode we weave through the embodied astrology of Sagittarius (connected to the legs, hips) and Gemini's (hands, lungs), highlighting how this axis teaches us to integrate thought with lived experience. With Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius and Uranus beginning its seven-year cycle in Gemini, we are collectively awakening to deeper truths, breaking ancestral patterns of shame, and reorienting toward more liberated ways of thinking and being. Through personal reflection, teaching stories, and somatic practices like drishti and body awareness, this episode offers a grounded yet expansive invitation to integrate, reorient, and illuminate what is emerging in your life. Then, we are joined by Cesar Gutierrez, also known as Soul Centaur, a Sagittarius astrologer, tarot reader, and devotional spiritual practitioner whose work bridges astrology, tarot and energy healing. Rooted in both Catholic upbringing and spiritual practice, Cesar now identifies as a Neo-Catholic, weaves together devotion to Santa Muerte, intuitive tarot, and lived experience of transformation through loss, identity, and awakening. Together, we explore ancestral reverence, queer spiritual reclamation, what it means to move through Gemini Season and the approaching Sagittarius Full Moon, with Uranus newly in Gemini illuminating themes of duality, perception, and spiritual expansion.   Cesar shares their journey into astrology and tarot beginning in 2018 during a Uranus transit, and how their practice deepened through COVID, personal loss, and the alchemy of becoming “Soul Centaur.” We explore the origin of this name as a fusion of Sagittarius symbolism and lived transformation, and how Sagittarius teaches the art of blending modalities while still staying grounded in discernment. We then close with a Mystical Meanderings journey into the realm of Sagittarius, where we meet a twin reflection in the forest, receive a symbolic toy airplane as expanded vision, are visited by an ancestor musician with a message of resilience, and end with the a tarot pull and a reminder that everything is cyclical. This episode is just me, Jeff Hinshaw, offering a reflection on the Taurus New Moon and the larger collective shifts we are moving through. I explore how this lunation marks the first Taurus New Moon without Uranus in Taurus since 2019, and what it means to begin integrating years of disruption and innovation around money, the body, stability, technology, and the Earth itself, while Uranus now in Gemini shifts the revolution into language, communication, and perception. I share observations from the collective field around simplification, mobility, and changing life structures, alongside increasing relational and mental intensity as different worldviews meet. From there, I move into Taurus embodiment practices, including a somatic grounding meditation through the body and third eye “bull's eye” center as a way of reconnecting intuition with physical presence and nature. We also touch on the archetypal image of “The Lightning” from the Marseille tradition of the Tower card and how it reframes disruption as revelation. I also explore how Sedna and the Pleiades are part of this wider collective shift into Gemini, highlighting how mythic and celestial bodies are participating in this reorientation of voice, memory, and perception. Then, we close with grounding reflections for this new cycle.   Workshop Announcement Sedna Workshop: Enrollment opens on Friday, May 1st (Scorpio Full Moon) for a three-hour deep-dive workshop: Topics: Sedna's myth, altar building, tarot associations (notably, The Hanged One/The Tethered One), astrological significance, personal and collective healing. The first part of this episode is a reflection on March 30 through April 5, 2026—a sacred window of time where the cosmos invites us into deep embodiment, relational awareness, and soulful recalibration. As we move through Aries season and toward the Libra Full Moon, this opening segment is meant to help you attune to the energetic landscape of the week ahead, grounding you in the planetary movements so you can consciously walk with them—rather than feel swept up by them. Think of it as a threshold moment: a chance to arrive, to listen, and to align your body, heart, and spirit with the rhythm of the sky. We cover: Venus in Taurus Juno in Aquarius White Moon Selena in Virgo Mars in Pisces Then, in honor of the Libra Full Moon, Jeff Hinshaw is joined by magical astrologer Celeste Brooks for a rich and multidimensional conversation that begins with personal myth-making and unfolds into a deep exploration of her chart. Through the lens of Celeste's Taurus Sun, Aries Moon, and Cancer Rising, we trace a story of embodiment, courage, and homecoming, woven with pivotal life transitions, including her shift from a 25-year corporate career into full-time astrology. Together, we explore timing techniques like progressions, the awakening influence of Uranus in Taurus, and the importance of structure in astrological practice, grounding intuitive insight with disciplined study. From there, the conversation opens into the wider astrological landscape of 2026, reflecting on the collective impact of Neptune's ingress into Aries, the Saturn–Neptune conjunction, and the North Node's passage through Pisces. Jeff and Celeste weave together advanced techniques, discuss asteroids like Juno, Ceres, and White Moon Selena, and share intuitive practices like Libra Full Moon channeling and tarot symbolism. The episode moves between the cosmic and the personal, inviting you into themes of truth-telling, spiritual compassion, and collective healing, while emphasizing the importance of grounding rituals and tending to the body as we navigate a rapidly shifting world.

On this Pisces New Moon episode of Cosmic Cousins, we begin by arriving in the liminal space this lunation creates—a threshold between the dream that has carried us for over a decade and the new reality beginning to emerge. This is a moment to feel deeply, to notice the currents beneath the surface, and to honor both the surrender and the subtle stirrings of action that this closing cycle invites. Then, Jeff Hinshaw  is joined by Pisces Moon artist Rochelle Voyles. Returning to the podcast for the first time since 2017,  we dive into Rochelle's solo exhibition Unreliable Narrators that just opened at 81 Leonard Gallery in Tribeca. Through pieces like “Slithering Ruin” and “Defense and Entrapment,” we contemplate nonlinear time, archetypal storytelling, and the duality of distance, and how beauty invites us closer to truths that may otherwise feel unbearable.  Music becomes a co-conspirator in this process, with two songs from Pisces Moon artists Anna Olivia Eve and Lindsey Mills guiding emotional resonance and collective reflection. We reimagine collage as a spiritual technology (one that mirrors astrology, tarot, and memory itself) where meaning is not prescribed but discovered through feeling.  In a closing “Mystical Meandering,” Rochelle journeys through a surreal Pisces Dreamscape, and receives a visit from a crab on the seashores, looks up through a telescope to cloudy skies, and receives ancestral guidance from the Six of Cups and an invocation of healing from past trauma. We seal the episode with reflections on water as conduit, reminding us that to trust the dream, to honor the unseen, and to create from the depths is itself an act of healing, connection, and quiet revolution.

With the North Node in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo, a story that's been developing for over the past decade begins to crest, inviting release, discernment, and a return to embodied, practical wisdom. Then, Jeff is joined by Double Aquarius, Virgo Rising  Bee—The Zine Witch. Recorded amid a rare eclipse sequence linking Aquarius and Virgo by quincunx rather than polarity, they explore what it means to be cycle-enders. They reflect on collective PTSD, grief surfacing through clients and communities, and Virgo's sacred task of digestion. Together tracing larger cycles—the 18.5-year eclipse rhythm and the 35-year Saturn–Neptune arc—as thresholds of generational review, asking how we tend the details of our healing while history turns. We also dive into Internal Family Systems with Virgo's esoteric phrase “I am the mother and the child” as a guide. We re-frame astrology as a tool for re-parenting, especially for neurodivergent folks who learned to self-manage and mask in order to survive. In a playful Virgo improv, Virgo stays home to tend to the mundane, receives a protective ward at a threshold, and invokes ancestral courage through shufflemancy with Amy Winehouse—opening a dialogue on feminism, the meaning of the word “Virago,” and embodied service. We close our time pulling the “Fearless” card from the Wild Kuan Yin oracle, Bee offers a candle ritual for courage and protection, sealing the episode with a direct blessing to those stepping into autonomy, reminding us that devotion to healing, detail, and love is itself a revolutionary act. Through it all, she shares how decades of sobriety, Kundalini yoga, and daily spiritual practice have become a non-negotiable anchor. Together we explore the Aquarian archetype of the water bearer—the outsider who returns to nourish the collective—and how Stephanie embodies this through her Aquarius Sun, Taurus Moon, and Libra Rising: the friendly humanitarian in a field of rolling greens, ensuring the revolution is well fed. This Capricorn New Moon episode marks the first lunation of 2026, inviting a collective pause for reflection, steadiness, and intentional rebuilding. Recorded in the early morning hours of January 18, the episode opens as a ritual space, slowing the breath, honoring embodied resilience, and contemplating the “bones” of our lives: the structures, commitments, and practices that have sustained us over the past decade. Through Capricorn's themes of devotion, endurance, and legacy, the conversation weaves together astrology and tarot, including the Devil card's sober invitation to examine where fear, survival strategies, or inherited systems still hold authority over us, and where greater spiritual authorship is being called forth. The episode also offers a deep astrological lens on the rare and powerful Saturn–Neptune transition, as both planets prepare to leave Pisces and enter Aries, culminating in their once-every-36-years conjunction at 0° Aries on February 21, 2026. This threshold signals a profound reset of personal and collective structures, asking us to integrate spirituality with responsibility, vision with action. The New Moon reflection is grounded by an exploration of Capricorn's sea-goat archetype, blending Saturnian discipline with Neptunian mysticism, and illustrated through the legacy of Alvin Ailey as an example of devotion turned into cultural architecture. The episode concludes in an intimate, ritual-lit space devoted to the Capricorn New Moon and its invitation into devotion, discipline, and long-term vision. Jeff Hinshaw is joined by composer, musician, and dancer Evan Hart Marsh for a wide-ranging conversation at the crossroads of astrology, artistry, and collaboration. Evan shares his unconventional creative path, beginning in music and movement, coming to formal dance training later than most, and ultimately weaving composition, choreography, and collaboration into a singular artistic language rooted in deep listening and care. The conversation expands into embodied listening, ritual, and mythic reflection, including a guided Mystic Meanderings journey with tarot, ancestry, and somatic imagination. Listeners are invited into Evan's recent works:  a collaborative piece, ‘If You Wanna Come Closer', that channels industrial transcendence with devotional intensity; the expansive, world-building score for ‘The Ocean World, Act I' from The Little Mermaid ballet;  and “A Job Well Done” from the short film Yuri;  Alongside reflections on Capricorns Sade and Alvin Ailey, yoga, Ayurveda, and nature as sustaining forces, this episode closes with an invitation to honor one's foundations, tend to creative and ancestral lineages, and practice embodied listening as a ritual of self-nurturance, especially under the quiet, powerful architecture of a Capricorn New Moon. If there is one full moon to stay at home and rest, it's likely the Cancer Full Moon. And lucky for us, 2026 starts out with this nurturing and caregiving energy, that is here to wrap us in a blanket of deep remembering. In the introduction of this episode we explore: Jupiter in Cancer, Chiron in Aries, the Capricorn Stellium, the Venus + Mars Capricorn Cazimi's, and Neptune at the final degree of Pisces.   Then, astrologer Jeff Hinshaw and movement educator, death midwife, and ritualist Anastasia Baratta explore Cancer as the keeper of memory, ancestry, care, and embodied wisdom. Opening with a somatic ritual honoring the Cancer-ruled body, they weave astrology, land-based spirituality, and personal myth-making, reflecting on Anastasia's Cancer Rising, Aquarius Sun, and Sagittarius Moon as a lifelong dance between freedom and belonging. The dialogue moves through the Cancer–Capricorn polarity, mother/father archetypes, relationship dynamics, and the importance of guiding others toward self-care rather than dependency. Throughout, the Cancer Full Moon is framed as an invitation to come home—to the body, to the land, to emotional truth, and to the ancestral lineages that shape us. A central thread of the episode is grief, soul family, blood family, and healing during Jupiter in Cancer, including stories of profound loss, ancestral visitation, health crises, and acts of care that reveal how growth can arrive through tenderness as much as abundance. Jeff and Anastasia reflect on death through a queer lens and death as a sacred threshold, discussing astrology's role in understanding the spirit realm, the 8th/12th house, and ritual approaches to dying that reconnect modern culture with ancient practices. Anastasia shares her vision for community-based death care, including the Desert Death Care Network and monthly Death Cafes in Joshua Tree, while both emphasize the necessity of self-nourishment for caretakers and healers. The conversation closes with practical rituals, listener reflections, and an invitation to use the final months of Jupiter in Cancer to honor ancestors, tend home and body, and prepare—individually and collectively—for the times ahead. In this Year Ahead episode, Lindsay Mack and Jeff Hinshaw explore the following: 2025 Reflections: 2025's deeply Piscean tone—shaped by Neptune in Pisces since 2011, the Hermit archetype, and themes of grief, waiting, and dissolution. A year of initiation: 2026 is a universal 1 year, aligned with the Magician, Wheel of Fortune, and Sun in the Tarot, pointing to beginnings, clarity, momentum, and reclaimed spiritual authority. Major astrological shift: Saturn and Neptune move from Pisces into Aries, ushering in a fire-driven era focused on action, identity, and leadership. Key February activation: Saturn enters Aries, an Aquarius New Moon solar eclipse coincides with the Chinese New Year // Year of the Fire Horse, and Saturn conjuncts Neptune at 0° Aries—marking the birth of a new cycle of imaginative, embodied leadership. Fire expands through the year: Jupiter's entry into Leo later in 2026 amplifies creativity, joy, and heart-led visibility. Tarot themes: 2025's patience and preparation (Hermit, Knight of Pentacles) give way to 2026's initiators—the Knight of Wands, Magician, Wheel, and Sun—emphasizing bold action and authorship. Long-cycle beginnings: Reflections on 2017 highlight how Magician/Sun years often launch projects and identities that shape an entire nine-year cycle. Working with grief: The episode emphasizes transforming grief into tools, talismans, and creative practices rather than bypassing it. This final New Moon of 2025 invites us to plant intentions that reach beyond the personal, tapping into collective consciousness, cosmic vision, and universal belonging. Through astrology, somatic practices, music, and storytelling, we dive into ways to embody this expansive energy in both personal growth and relational connection. Overall Episode Themes: Universality, cosmic belonging, expansive vision, relational transmission, integration of astrology, tarot, art, music, science, and ritual. Seed Planting & Intention Setting: Use mantras like “I expand. I envision. I arise.” and pull a tarot card for each intention. Personal Reflection: Jeff shares how his own chart (Uranus, Ceres, Saturn near the Galactic Center in 11th house) connects his work to cosmic and collective themes. 2. Steven Spielberg's Chart: Galactic Center in Action Birthdate: December 18, 1946 Key Placements: Sun in Sagittarius conjunct Galactic Center Scorpio Moon conjunct Chiron (5th House) Cancer Rising Black Moon Lilith conjunct Sun Interpretations: Sun GC: Cosmic storytelling, transpersonal vision. We listen to four of Hannah's songs, “Had It Lost It,” “Clarity,” “Fight Your Devil,” and “Taught Me to Love”.  These songs serve as touchstones for depth, healing, collaboration, and truth-telling, all while exploring Sagittarian themes of meaning-making, collective vision, and creative fire. The conversation moves fluidly between Hannah's musical journey and astrological practice, tracing early beginnings in a deeply musical family, a lifelong relationship with songwriting as vision and ritual, and the Virgoan devotion required to bring inspired Sagittarian ideas into form. On this weeks' episode of Cosmic Cousins, Jeff Hinshaw first guides you through a deep dive exploration of the current transits connected to this Gemini Full Moon.  Then, Jeff is joined by one of his cosmic siblings, the incredibly talented Gemini, Mary Evans of Spirit Speak. Together, they flutter into the mutable magic of Gemini through storytelling, curiosity, and duality. Mary and Jeff explore Gemini archetypes across astrology, popular culture, and personal experience, including butterfly symbolism inspired by Dolly Parton's “Love Is Like a Butterfly.” The conversation also delves into personal and spiritual experiences, from Mary's childhood encounters with death and spirit guides to reflections on how these formative experiences shape creativity, art-making, deck creation, and teaching. Mary is the founder of Spirit Speak Tarot, and the creator of six tarot and oracle decks, so naturally the conversation also explores tarot and divination.  This includes Temperance and the Lovers, reflecting Gemini's adaptability, duality, and relational dynamics. She also discusses her work with children and adults through school programs, art workshops, and community-based “Witch Craft" arts and crafts nights, highlighting the spiritual and creative development fostered through art. And towards the end of their conversation, we listen to the song "Oh My God" by Gemini Ryan Allen Gray's, providing a lens on Gemini themes of queerness, religious trauma and integration of self. Listener questions spark final discussions on fashion as archetypal expression, navigating 2025 as a Hermit Year, and twin/soul-sibling dynamics. Recorded for the Gemini Full Moon, this episode is a playful and illuminating journey through mutable skies, offering insight, inspiration, and guidance for creating in a world of multiplicity. __________________________________________________ The Online Fools Tarot Journey 6-Month Ritual Immersion through the Major Arcana The next evolution of the Online Fools Tarot Journey — a six-month ritual immersion into the living wisdom of the Major Arcana — has arrived! In this bonus episode I am joined by two of my Magical Mentoring clients to share their experiences with and through the containers I hold. There's no way to explain what happens inside the containers of Magical Mentoring - because it is both practical and magical...it's intuitive and has quite a bit of flow to it and there is structure, but it also unfolds in its own expression during the process. The only way to truly KNOW what it's like is to embark on it. But, I know, it's an unknown…so that can be scary or weird so people don't take the risk…which means they miss out on the rewards. Many listeners have expressed this in the past, so I thought we'd take a step towards sharing better. So although this episode isn't a reality based session (though spoiler alert…I'm considering that for future episodes) this is straight from the mentees mouths and experiences. This episode is a safe way to better understand, and to perhaps see if it's a fit for you, at some point on your path. Fall Magical Mentoring is opening for enrollment the week after this episode is published. I'm scheduling exploration calls August 25th through September 3rd, 2023. So if this episode piques your interest, head to the link in the show notes to schedule your 30-min exploration call with me to begin Mentoring this September through December 2023. If you're listening to this after these dates, don't worry, Magical Mentoring happens twice a year. Hang tight till Spring. And even if you're not interested in mentoring this conversation is incredible intersectional feminist joy, exploration, support, and process. There is a spark here for everyone. My guests on this episode have been working with me for years now since the birth of this program 5 years ago. They know the hang-ups and they know the blessings. They're truth tellers and discerning women. They are both stunning coaches, podcasters, and healers in their own rite. Highlights in this episode: How Magical Mentoring work What it feels like to be lost and repeating toxic patterns What it feels like when you are lost and wanting to reincorporate spirituality into your life What it feels like when you're on the other side of shadow work How to step into better decision making and abundance How to shift from shaky ground to stable foundations Manifesting from wounded spaces a.k.a trauma manifesting What it's like to be coached in a truly non-patriarchal space Delving deep into self care to micro-dose your magic How coaching through Tarot readings work Ready to explore Group Magical Mentoring NOW? With a background in all the best things people love to hate (the arts, sex work, queer culture, intersectional feminism, alternative health, direct sales, spirituality…), Keli Lyn Jewel combines cognitive, somatic, and esoteric approaches to her work as a life coach. She helps her clients excavate the internal narratives to see what's been handed to them through socialization and what's truly theirs, so they can reclaim their agency in life. Dismantling internalized bullshit can be daunting. Doing it alone? Forget it. When the call is coming from inside the house, we often can't even see it on our own. Feed Drop - The Dark Feminine- Beyond the Illusion In this episode - I share a love note about the Summer - and how that will affect the podcast episodes for the next couple of months. Don't freak out, Mama Unicorn just needs a little space to breathe and think. This episode is a feed drop from Beyond the Illusion podcast! This is an episode that is near and dear to my heart, and might just be my favorite interview of all time….host Tim Howe and Tianna Roser invited me onto their show back in December of 2022 to chat about the Dark Feminine…particularly my home girls, the dark goddesses themselves Lilith and Hekate. The Dark goddesses, Hekate and Lilith invite us into our full authenticity, reclaiming the parts of us labeled “too much” too driven, too pushy, too fierce or “too bold”...they have us speaking up for ourselves in equity. They want us to be seen and considered and they do not prescribe to people pleasing or cultural norms of misogyny or patriarchy. These goddesses offer us the full expression of our souls, with the integration of rage and anger, that transmute and drive us to actually change, protest, and say no to anything and everything that isn't in integrity. I hope you love this episode as much as I did. And make sure to pop over for other episodes of Beyond the Illusion. — Many people equate darkness with evil and shun it. Yet in our world of duality, this is impossible. You can't have day without night or yang without yin. To become whole and return to Oneness, you need to integrate both light and shadow. Are you ready to embrace the dark feminine within? In this episode I share how to work with the dark goddess and receive her gifts of transformation, magic, sexuality, death and rebirth. Highlights in this episode: Fall and Winter, the underworld seasons, are a perfect time to explore the Dark Feminine. Dark Feminine energy relates to the dark, the underworld, the moon or the night. Everyone, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, can benefit from this work. Dark goddesses such as Hecate and Lilith pull us into our full authenticity, reclaiming the parts of us labeled “too much” or “too bold”. What led Tandy onto this path? The Dark Feminine teaches us to become empowered, use our voice, and take up space. What are some ways that repressed shadow feminine energy shows up in our lives? The power of saying, “That doesn't work for me.” My book recommendation: “For the Love of Men: From Toxic to a More Mindful Masculinity” by Liz Plank What's the mythology of Lilith? Let's reclaim shamelessness! Who is Hecate? How does Magical Mentoring work? Host Tim Howe is the co-creator of, Beyond the Illusion, as well as an entrepreneur. After working as a software engineer for many years where he developed audio, optics and haptics software, he has moved on to pursue multiple passion projects, some of which include painting his house and mowing the lawn. He has always been interested in unusual and strange phenomena and considers himself to be a consciousness explorer. He was born and raised in Table Rock Village, Wyoming, which happens to no longer exist. He currently makes his home in Austin, Texas where he is constantly surrounded by his wife, daughter and cat. Sagittarius New Moon I expand.  I uplift.  I celebrate.   Embodied Health: If you are able, take a deep breath into your legs, thighs, hips, and circulatory system. These are some of Sagittarius' sacred body parts.  As you breathe in, invite greater circulation, ease and flow into your life.  As you breathe out, let go of any excess energy by shaking the legs or circling the hips.  As you move the body in tandem with the breath, experiment by saying the Sagittarius New Moon affirmation. Sagittarius New Moon Affirmation:  I open myself up to new solutions for greater ease and flow.  I am adaptable, versatile, and free.   Here is a 2-hour chanting meditation that Sagittarius Tina Turner created that I have been playing all week as I make Yuletide wands in preparation for the Winter Solstice.   In light of Sagittarius, we have the incredible honor of being joined by the radiant Rae Sapp. Yes, Rae is a Capricorn Sun, but in our conversation the Sagittarius Rising comes in hot! Rae is the new owner and publisher of The Mountain Astrologer magazine. She is a second-generation astrologer but prefers the title “astromancer”— a witch holding space for sacred language play.  You can find her between the of pages TMA or as the breathing corporal time machine at the Witch Way Cafe. In our conversation titled "Sagittarius: the Erotic & Philosophical", we talk about the many different expressions of Sagittarius. From the witchy, nature-based side of Sagittarius, to the sexual and more spiritual side of Sagittarius, we talk all things Mutable Fire.  We also explore Sagittarius' connection to the Temperance tarot card, group energy, publishing, and the expansion of consciousness.    Love, Jeff Hinshaw (he/they) jeff@brooklynfools.com LINKS Sign-up for Mailing List + Newsletter About Jeff Hinshaw Astrology Mentorship Astrology Reading Tarot Reading Podcast: iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean Patreon for Cosmic Cousins
