In which the Mister, Uncle Jay and I check out GAMER (2009) from writers/directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall) is an egregiously rich and powerful gaming creator whose games deal in exploitation - whether as a user or as a surrogate immersed in a shooter world where the stakes are high. A mediocre script that missed an opportunity to really deep dive into some interesting ethical questions and social commentary. The best part of the watch was hanging with Uncle Jay! Check out PADDINGTON 2 instead. The film clocks in at 1 h 35 m and is rated R. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. Rob and Ellie from KVIKMYNDAPOD join Flixwatcher to review Rob's choice Crank. Crank is a 2006 action film from directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and starring Jason Statham as hitman Chev Chelios. While asleep Chelios is injected by Chinese synthetic drug by small-time criminal Ricky Verona, which inhibits the flow of adrenaline, slowing the heart and will eventually kill Chelios. Chelios learns of this via a DVD recording and calls his Mafia surgeon Doc Miles who advises him to keep his adrenaline up by engaging in risky behaviour. Cue 88 minutes of the Stath driving recklessly, fighting with the police, taking drugs - including epinephrine, and having sex in public with Eve (Amy Smart) his girlfriend. Crank is a wild, insanely silly, occasionally offensive and innovative action film. Filmed on digital it allowed the directors to adopt a Gonzo approach to filming which adds to its overall feeling of craziness. Recommendability for Crank were pretty good, repeat viewing and engagement ratings were boosted by the sweet 88 minute runtime to give an overall rating of 3.38. After five years, Ghost Rider fans could rejoice! Finally a sequel! Surely it will be better than the 2005 movie, right? Right...? In the new episode of Film Stories with Simon Brew, a comedy whose first cut was three times as long, and an action movie shot very much on the move! Planes, Trains And Automobiles wasn't originally set to be directed by John Hughes. But when the cast came together, he took over the film - and he'd have a race against time to make it. With Crank, directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor used guerilla filming tactics to shoot their movie - which nearly starred Nicolas Cage. Stories of both are told in this episode. The story of Ghost Rider 2 starring Nicolas Cage, with interviews from directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine.
After Ghost Rider set theaters ablaze in 2007 a sequel seemed assured, but it took five years to get here. But now Nicholas Cage returns in the quasi-rebooted Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Johnny Blaze can have his curse lifted but first he must stop the devil from transferring his soul into the body of a young boy. From the directors of the cult hit Crank films, does this Ghost Rider spark with Arnie, Jakob, and Stuart? Listen to find out!

A comédia dramática sobre o fim do mundo Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, de Lorene Scafaria. Confira no nosso On Demand. With a flaming skull, a leather jacket, and a bad bike, Ghost Rider embraced the biker comics counterculture in the 70's and had a resurgance as a dark hero in the 90's. The first Ghost Rider film broke box office records, and now Nicholas Cage reprises his role as the devil's bounty hunter. And continuing their look back at all movies based on Marvel Comics heroes, and in anticipation of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Jakob, Stuart, and Arnie will be watching and reviewing both Ghost Rider films. In the first movie, Johnny Blaze tried to woo childhood sweetheart Roxanne while eating jelly beans and listening to The Carpenters, but Mephisto has other plans for the stunt biker. Do Jakob, Arnie, and Stuart go along for this ride? Listen to find out!

In this episode, Xan and Deke review a movie which is high octane insanity and hilarity, the R-rated movie "Crank" directed by Mark Neveldine and starring Jason Statham, Amy Smart, and Jose Pablo Cantillo Our hosts are hopped up on sugar in this episode, so some parts may seem incomprehendable but it makes sense...to them at least. Besides the movie, they talk about Bandai's obsession with Gundam, the Centurians, Monster Park the Video Game and the goodness of Mike & Ike's Italian Ice Flavored Candy.
