"Freue dich, du Land der Deutschen, und preise deinen Apostel und Bischof. Seine Predigt brachte dir das Licht des Glaubens. Seine Sorge um dich erfleht dir Gottes Schutz." – So lautet die Antiphon zum heutigen Benedictus.Der Mann, den die Kirche heute feiert, ist weit durch Europa gekommen, hat es aus seiner Berufung als Mönch herausgerufen und die Leitung der Klosterschule aufzugeben, von England nach Friesland zu gehen, um dort das Evangelium zu verkünden, vom Papst zum Bischof geweiht zu werden und somit ganz offiziell zur "Germanenmission" beauftragt zu werden, Erzbischof und Päpstlicher Legat für Germanien zu werden. Er predigt mit großem Erfolg in Hessen und Thüringen, gründet sechs große Klöster und macht sich dann ans Werk, die Kirche zu ordnen und die Bistümer Salzburg, Regensburg, Passau, Würzburg und Erfurt zu gründen. Er wird dann Bischof in Mainz und ist sich nicht zu schade, nochmals eine Missionsreise zu unternehmen, bei der er am 5. Juni 754 den Martertod erleidet.Bonifatius wird deshalb Apostel der Deutschen genannt und an seinem Grab in Fulda treffen sich in jedem Jahr die deutschen Bischöfe zu ihrer Herbstkonferenz. Wie passt das alles in ein einziges Leben, denken Sie vielleicht auch. Bonifatius war kein bedeutender Theologe, aber er hat missionarischen Eifer mit einer seltenen Begabung für Organisation und Administration verbunden. Und er ist nicht sitzen geblieben auf seiner ersten Berufung, sondern hat sich von Gott immer neu herausrufen lassen mit neuen Aufgaben. Vielleicht ist es das: Er hat die Begabungen, die er von Gott geschenkt bekommen hat, geschult, entwickelt und immer neu eingesetzt.Was sind so Ihre Begabungen, die Sie heute einsetzen können? Welche Fähigkeiten, die sie als Gabe bekommen haben, haben Sie noch gar nicht richtig wahrgenommen? Das ist eine Überlegung heute wert am Tag des heiligen Bonifatius, des Apostels der Deutschen.

Im Jahr 325 n. Chr. versammelten sich erstmals Bischöfe aus dem ganzen Römischen Reich, um zentrale Glaubensfragen zu klären. Es ging um nichts Geringeres als das Wesen Jesu Christi – und damit um das Fundament des Christentums. Der Theologe und Diözesanbeauftragte für ökumenische Fragen, Manfred Gerwing, erläutert die dramatischen Hintergründe, den historischen Kontext und die weitreichenden Folgen. Bernhard Löhlein hat mit ihm gesprochen.

1995 erklärte der damalige Vorsitzende der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz Karl Lehmann zur Abtreibungsgesetzgebung in Deutschland: „Wir werden uns mit der bestehenden Gesetzgebung nicht abfinden. Für uns ist das Leben heilig, das geborene wie das ungeborene.“ 1999 beteuerte er dasselbe im Namen aller Bischöfe noch einmal: „Die deutschen Bischöfe haben stets erklärt – schon seit den 70er Jahren –, dass sie sich mit den nach ihrer Meinung unzureichenden Gesetzen nicht abfinden werden.“ Diese Zeiten sind vorbei. (Martin Gross)++Seit Monatsbeginn gelten in China neue Vorschriften, die religiöse Aktivitäten von Ausländern noch strenger als bisher regeln. ++Europäische und afrikanische katholische Bischöfe werfen der EU vor, Afrika als "Müllhalde" für eigene ökologische Ziele zu missbrauchen.

Heute früh, als ich nach dem Wachwerden aus dem Fenster geguckt habe, war ich doch mehr als überrascht: Die wunderbar grünen Wiesen hatten einen weißen Hauch. Es hat leichten Nachtfrost gegeben und das ist gar nicht so ohne: Viele Pflanzen und Blüten, die sich schon gut gezeigt haben, können durch Frost um diese Zeit noch ernsthaft gefährdet werden und später die Ernte geringer ausfallen lassen. Aber dann ist mir auch eingefallen: Wir haben die Eisheiligen. So nennen wir die Heiligen, die zwischen dem 11. und 15. Mai ihren Gedenktag haben und es genau diese Zeit ist, in der es oft noch eine kalte Luftmassenbewegung über Europa gibt und alles, was durch den warmen Frühling schon gekommen ist, noch gefährden kann.Über diese Tage der Eisheiligen gibt es viele Sprüche und Bauernregeln zum Beispiel: "Vor Nachtfrost Du nie sicher bist, bis die Sophie vorüber ist" oder auch: "Vor Bonifaz kein Sommer, nach Sophie kein Frost". Die Heiligen, die diese Tage prägen, sind alle aus der frühchristlichen Zeit zwischen 300 und 400 nach Christus. Von Mamertus weiß man, dass er Bischof war und auf ihn zum Beispiel die Bittprozessionen zurückgehen, die in vielen Gegenden vor Christi Himmelfahrt gehalten werden und meist um eine gute Ernte bitten. Pankratius ist in Rom den Märtyrertod gestorben und Servatius und Bonifatius von Tarsus waren Bischöfe. Und Sophie ist 304 als Märtyrerin für ihren Glauben an Christus gestorben.Das waren also Menschen, die Christus nachgefolgt sind und eher Heißblütige als Eisheilige. Menschen, die mit ihrer Glaubenskraft allen Widrigkeiten getrotzt haben und eher in den Tod gegangen sind, als dass sie ihren Glauben verleugnet hätten. Wahrscheinlich weiß man von daher bis heute von ihnen und feiert ihre Gedenktage. Ich denke, dass es ein guter Tipp in diesen Tagen ist: Seien wir ein bisschen mehr heißblütige Christen, die sich trauen für das, was sie glauben einzustehen und nicht Eisheilige, in deren Umgebung alles starr und kalt und festgefroren scheint.

Robert habe sich immer für die Armen eingesetzt, und für alle die, die keine Stimme haben, sagte John Prevost. Er gehe davon aus, dass Robert bei sozialöen Themen "ein zweiter Franziskus" sein werde. Ähnliche Erwartungen an den neuen Papst äußerten auch katholische Bischöfe in Deutschland. Die evangelische Kirche in Niedersachsen erklärte, in seinen ersten Worten nach der Wahl habe er deutlich gemacht, wie wichtig für ihn der Einsatz für weltweiten Frieden sei.

Betroffene von sexuellem und spirituellem Missbrauch brauchen oft Jahrzehnte, um über das Erlebte sprechen zu können – Scham- und Schuldgefühle sowie die Angst vor der angedrohten Bestrafung liessen Betroffene verstummen. Und wenn sie trotzdem sprachen, wurde ihnen nicht geglaubt. «Ein Pfarrer, ein Lehrer und ein Gemeindepräsident machen so etwas nicht» – das war die Standardaussage, wenn Übergriffe von Geistlichen in den Pfarreien ruchbar wurden. So wagten es betroffene Kinder nicht mehr, von den Missbräuchen durch Geistliche zu berichten. Doch nicht nur das: Nicht selten hatten Bischöfe Kenntnis von Übergriffen. Doch statt Opfer zu schützen, vertuschten die Kirchenoberen die Taten und versetzten übergriffige Pfarrer in andere Bistümer in der Hoffnung, dass die Missbräuche bald in Vergessenheit gerieten.

Gerd Nefzer aus Schwäbisch Hall ist den diesjährigen Oscar-Verleihungen zum dritten Mal für die besten visuelle Effekte ausgezeichnet worden – für seine Mitwirkung am Film „Dune: Part 2“. Die begehrte Trophäe hatte er bereits 2022 für den ersten Teil von „Dune“ sowie 2018 für „Blade Runner 2049“ erhalten. Es seit vielleicht die schönste Oscar-Show bisher gewesen, sagte Nefzer am Morgen nach der Preisverleihung im Gespräch mit SWR Kultur. Das Gefühl, bei diesem Ereignis dabei zu sein, sei einfach unbeschreiblich: „Ich stehe ja nicht oft mit echten Stars auf dem roten Teppich. Das wird nie zur Routine.“. Die verlangten Spezialeffekte für „Dune 2“ seien sehr aufwändig gewesen. Die größte Herausforderung war die Schlüsselszene, in der Hauptdarsteller Timothy Chalamet auf einem Sandwurm reitet. „Regisseur Denis Villeneuve hat uns gesagt: wenn diese Szene nicht gut ist, ist der ganze Film nichts.“ Trotz digitaler Nachbearbeitungen und Ergänzungen stecke in solchen Szenen immer noch sehr komplizierte selbstgebaute Mechanik, erklärt der Spezialeffekt-Künstler. Nefzer ist eigentlich studierter Agrartechniker und kam in den späten 1980er-Jahren durch seinen Schwiegervater und seinen Schwager zum Filmgeschäft. Beide betrieben damals einen Film-Auto-Verleih in Schwäbisch-Hall. Mit Nefzers Einstieg wurde die Spezial-Effekte-Sparte ausgebaut. Trotz einer Filiale in Potsdam-Babelsberg hat die Firma ihren Haupsitz aber immer noch in der Kleinstadt am Kocher. „Es ist schön hier, und ich bin nicht so der Typ für Großstädte“, so Nefzer. Außerdem hat er immer noch Kontakt zu den landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben, in denen er vor Jahrzehnten seine Ausbildung gemacht hat – um den Kopf freizubekommen vom Filmgeschäft, hilft er dort gerne mal aus, am liebsten beim Traktorfahren.
