Do IQ tests measure your fixed intellect, or is there more to the equation? Despite their dark history, Michael Regilio bears good news on Skeptical Sunday!Welcome to Skeptical Sunday, a special edition of The Jordan Harbinger Show where Jordan and a guest break down a topic that you may have never thought about, open things up, and debunk common misconceptions. This time around, we're joined by skeptic, comedian, and podcaster Michael Regilio!Jordan's must reads (including books from this episode): AcceleratEdFull show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1159On This Week's Skeptical Sunday:In 1927, the US Supreme Court supported forced sterilization of "feeble-minded" people based on IQ scores. Over 7,000 were sterilized in North Carolina alone. Nazi war criminals later cited American eugenics programs as inspiration.Early IQ tests asked about Edgar Allan Poe and bowling terminology. These measured cultural knowledge, not intelligence, disadvantaging anyone without specific educational or social backgrounds. This could mean the difference between becoming an officer or cannon fodder in WWI.Researcher James Robert Flynn determined that IQ scores have risen three points per decade throughout the 20th century. But contrary to claims made in the 1994 book The Bell Curve, this "Flynn effect" isn't due to evolution or genetics, but factors like better nutrition, cleaner water, smaller families, and more cognitively demanding environments.ChatGPT scores 99.9th percentile verbally but fails simple logic puzzles humans solve instantly. This demonstrates how intelligence isn't a single number — it's more like a jazz ensemble where mathematical reasoning, emotional intelligence, creativity, and street smarts all play different instruments. Trying to capture that symphony with one test is like describing a rainbow using only numbers.IQ tests aren't worthless — they're just misunderstood. Use them as diagnostic tools, not destiny predictors. Low pattern recognition score? Practice puzzles. Weak verbal reasoning? Read more complex texts. Identify specific cognitive areas to strengthen rather than accepting a single number as your limit. Your IQ isn't your written-in-stone fate — it's your starting coordinates on an infinitely expandable map of human potential.Connect with Jordan on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. The Fascination with Celebrity Culture and the Implications of Media ObsessionCelebrity culture has long been a source of intrigue, drawing in audiences worldwide with its dramatic entanglements and star-studded narratives. But why does our society fixate so deeply on the lives of the rich and famous? The Nightly Rant podcast hosts, Mike and Torya, offer a sarcastic and humorous glimpse into this phenomenon, discussing the reasons behind our collective obsession with celebrity relationships and the potential repercussions of this fixation for society as a whole.Key TakeawaysThe obsession with celeb relationships potentially stems from a society that values fame over genuine contribution.Public responses to celebrity gossip can reveal underlying societal issues and prejudices.Personal space within relationships might be undervalued in the age of constant media exposure.Unpacking Celebrity ObsessionSociety's Intelligence Quotient vs. Celebrity WorshipOne of the most striking propositions from The Nightly Rant is that "people who are obsessed with celebrities have a lower intelligence." This forthright claim suggests that our cultural preoccupation with celebrity affairs could be indicative of a broader decline in societal values. Torya's no-nonsense analysis posits that stupidity underpins the public's relentless interest in the personal lives of stars like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey. "Because people are idiots," she states succinctly, capturing the show's blunt appraisal of celebrity worship. Delving into the broader implications of this statement, it prompts us to ask whether our societal obsession with celebrities reflects a deeper intellectual malaise where fame and entertainment supersede critical thought and substantial discourse. The Role of Media in Amplifying Celebrity DramaMike and Torya also touch on the media's propensity to thrust celebrity relationships into the limelight, particularly during prominent events like the Super Bowl. The discussion pivots to the excessive media coverage of celebrities such as Taylor Swift and the consequent backlash from football aficionados who feared that the sanctity of the sport was being compromised. "Why are we talking about celebrities?" Mike probes, setting the stage for an examination of media priorities. This line of questioning unveils the idea that media platforms, driven by viewership and sensationalism, may be disproportionately spotlighting these relationships, sidelining the actual events they cover. "They were going to boycott [NFL] games because they said they were showing Taylor Swift too much during the game," they reveal, emphasizing the impact of celebrity culture on traditional forms of entertainment.Personal Space and Relationship DynamicsA more introspective theme emerges as the hosts discuss the necessity of personal space within relationships. Mike suggests that constant exposure and lack of separation could strain partnerships, leading to the spillover of unnecessary drama into the public sphere. "I think we've conceded that fact," Mike concurs, acknowledging that the lack of privacy is a given in today's society. Torya's contribution offers a practical take on maintaining healthy dynamics: "Most dudes go to hang out with their dude friends to watch football…because they want to have some of that in every relationship in some way, shape, or form." This exchange prompts a deeper exploration of the value of autonomy and the role media plays in disrupting the private balance within celebrity—and by extension, regular—relationships. The Impact of Fans and Outsiders on RelationshipsAn undercurrent to these discussions is the role of external parties—fans, spectators, and the media—in shaping perceptions of celebrity relationships. Mike and Torya's colorful commentary on the subject highlights the extent to which people feel entitled to judge or even intervene in the personal affairs of public figures. From the phenomenon of 'boycotting' football games because of perceived overexposure to media fascination with reality TV couples' marital woes, it's clear that the intrusion of outside opinions can fuel conflict and misconceptions. This social dynamic begs the question of whether it's feasible to maintain a semblance of normalcy in relationships that are constantly under the microscope.Reflections on Celebrity Culture: A Mirror to Society's CoreAs Mike and Torya's conversation wends to a close, the revelatory nature of society's obsession with celebrity relationships stands in stark relief. What unfolds is an intricate tableau of a populace fervently consuming the lives of the rich and famous, perhaps as a means of escapism or as a result of diminished value in substantive achievements. This dialogue offers listeners and readers a mirror reflecting society's fascination, prompting a self-examination of our own roles in perpetuating this cycle. In their light-hearted yet incisive musings, the hosts of The Nightly Rant peel back the curtain on the pervasive impact of celebrity culture, urging listeners to confront the reasons behind their fixations. As Mike and Torya jocularly navigate the choppy waters of public opinion and media portrayal, they ultimately cast a clarion call for introspection—challenging each of us to contemplate our participation in the cult of celebrity and its implications for the intellectual fabric of our society.TimestampSummary0:00:15Introduction to the Nightly rant show0:00:26People's obsession with celebrity relationships0:01:00Celebrities are just people0:02:07Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey in the news0:04:08Boycott of NFL games due to Taylor Swift0:05:10Showing Taylor Swift during the game0:06:14Significant others watching football with Taylor Swift0:07:00Spending time apart in a relationship0:09:08Janelle drama and gossip rags0:10:09Angela and Michael's relationship issues0:11:00Mike and Torya discuss comments about someone from the south and Nigeria.0:11:25Mike mentions negative comments and rumors about the person from Nigeria being a scammer.0:12:00Mike and Torya discuss the process of getting a green card through marriage.0:13:11Mike emphasizes the importance of being a productive citizen to maintain residency.0:13:34Torya suggests reading comments on Johnny Yates' Instagram post for entertainment.0:14:11Mike warns about the negative impact of paying attention to online comments.0:15:15Torya recalls making a sassy comment to a reality TV star and Mike mentions it being remembered.0:16:02Torya discusses Janelle's separation announcement on Facebook and questions its authenticity.0:17:21Mike and Torya express skepticism about the authenticity of Angela and Michael's storyline.0:18:00Mike shares his respect for the producers' decision to add additional couples to the show.0:19:19Mike and Torya discuss the upcoming season of "Happily Ever After" and the drama surrounding the cast.0:20:43Mike jokes about the cast members ending up on "Single Life" after their relationships fail.0:20:53Torya corrects Mike's statement about Natalie's previous marriages.0:20:50Torya corrects Mike about the number of marriages0:21:03Mike suggests that public records could be wrong0:21:05Torya mentions the two marriages of the person they were discussing0:21:17Torya talks about the person wanting to have a baby with Michael0:21:30Mike expresses his disapproval of others getting involved0:21:43Torya mentions someone else interfering in other people's business0:21:54Torya and Mike end the conversation and say good night0:22:01Torya asks for a rating if the listener enjoyed the show0:22:06Mike asks to ignore the rating request if the listener didn't enjoy the show0:22:11Torya mentions the podcast network producing the show
Welcome to Day 2158 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom The Gospel of John – 26 – What is Your A.Q. – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 07/31/2022 The Gospel of John – Part 4 Confirmation Of The Word – What Is Your A.Q. (Acceptance Quotient) Today we continue our series, the Good News according to John the Apostle. Last week, we joined Jesus behind closed doors with His disciples and saw him take on the role of the lowest servant as He washed His disciple's feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Today, we continue with Jesus behind closed doors with His disciples as they proceed with the Passover meal. Our scripture for today is John 13:18-30, starting on page 1674 in the pew Bible. Follow along as I read today's passage. 18 “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned[a] against me.'[b] 19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.” 21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.” 22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” 25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?” 26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor. 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. For years, educational systems worldwide subjected students to tests to determine each individual's I.Q., “Intelligence Quotient.” This quantified each person's ability to remember facts, think imaginatively, logically organize information, and solve problems. The I.Q....

"Give me wisdom and knowledge that I may lead these people, for who can govern these great people of yours?" As King Solomon once asked in 2 Chronicles 1:10, "Give me now wisdom and knowledge." Likewise, we must recognize that by gaining a better understanding of the world and its mechanics, we can access deeper levels of spiritual proficiency. Because seeking to become partakers of the divine nature or fulfill our calling is an immense task that requires us to challenge ourselves and increase our knowledge continually. He knew he needed wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to fulfill God's call. Intelligence Quotient is like a pulse rate. It reflects the capacity of a person to learn and understand things quickly. That's why God desires us to be wise and thoughtful, according to Proverbs 1:1-33. Intelligence Quotient impacts our daily decision-making, problem-solving skills, and overall life goals. Intelligence Quotient can be improved by engaging in physical and mental activities such as reading or other things that help stimulate the brain. So, "Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;" (2 Peter 1:5). Likewise, I encourage you to strive for greater wisdom to make more informed decisions as you go through life. Proverbs 22:17-18 says, "Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise--apply your mind to my knowledge. For it is pleasant if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips." Most people would agree that having a higher IQ would lead to a better life. While many things contribute to a good life, intelligence is one of the most important (2 Peter 1:1-11). After all, intelligence allows us to learn, understand, and make the most of our lives. And with the right guidance, it can be attainable. According to God's plan, certain biblical practices can help increase one's intelligence quotient. One such practice involves using the ten commandments to guide one's daily life. The commandments provide instruction on how to lead an ethical lifestyle involving respecting yourself and others. The ten commandments are like a roadmap for life. They provide direction, helping us make wise decisions to reach our destination safely and successfully. This helps foster positive thinking and reduces stress levels which are beneficial for mental clarity and focus. Additionally, it sharpens one's problem-solving skills by prompting them to think of new solutions rather than resorting to negative thoughts or giving up easily when faced with a challenge. Another practice that can increase IQ is prayer and meditation. So take part in God's plan to fulfill the purpose of life. Amen. Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is everyone's duty." Amen. Let us pray, Oh Lord, I ask for your guidance and strength, but more than anything else, I ask for Wisdom from Above. May the Lord give you the peace of mind to make good decisions and to know that He will take care of everything around you in Jesus' name. Amen. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pastor-divineo/support
Intelligence when maximized, is a point of attraction - Lily Chiamaka

In this episode, Kevin and JC discuss Kevin's journey from “his call” to pastoring to serving as an executive pastor— and how he knew he didn't want to be the “lead guy” at the church but wanted to serve as the XP. It's a good word. Most staff members are not going to serve as the senior pastor. Most will be the number 2, number 3, or something else. Kevin and JC talk about several important factors: ⭐️ the importance of execution— of getting things done. Specifically, the discuss vision and trust, and identify how to know when you move forward without waiting for instruction as well as how to know when to ask permission. ⭐️ the importance of EQ as opposed to IQ. Most of the time, leaders aren't fired (or hired) because of their Intelligence Quotient but because of their Emotional Quotient— of their ability to relate to people. ⭐️ the importance of the team. We function better together. Face it, leadership— at ANY level— is lonely. Sometimes that's a function of leadership— it CAN be lonely at the top. But we make it lonelier than it has to be. ⭐️ the importance of decision-making. Sometimes you need to be attached to the outcome. Many times you don't need to be. In fact, most to the time you don't. ⭐️ the importance of honor. Kevin talks about “taking the bullet” when needed— and of deferring to the mission and the people who are part of it. ___________________ Links for this show— Join us for Building a Killer Team Live— www.KillerTeam.live Claim your free Killer Team Book— www.KillerTeamBook.org Kevin's page on the CourageousPastors.com site = www.CourageousPastors.com/kevin On Instagram, @KevinLloydLive

We hear a lot about Intelligence Quotient or our IQ, but what about our Emotional Intelligence, or EQ? We know now that our EQ is a better indicator of our overall success than our IQ, making it incredibly important to understand and work toward. Most people are walking around operating out of fear, giving their energy away, and not following their dreams. What would the world look like if everyone focused on developing their Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and operate out of a place of love instead of fear? Today's guest imagines a world where people have developed their emotional intelligence, which he believes is essential for the survival of humankind.Phil Johnson is dedicated to the development of emotional intelligence. When Jack Russo and Dr. Walter Bortz came up with the idea for Healthy Hundred Years (HHY) along with The Foundation for Creativity in Dispute Resolution, it was all about trying to figure out the future of law and litigation and how it can move from the current model to a new model. By analogy, one can argue that medicine is moving away from the repair model to a different model and purpose. To quote Dr. Bortz, the purpose of medicine is to assist the assurance of everyone's human potential. Now reaching your highest human potential comes down to more than your diet and exercise. With an increasing amount of people surviving into their 90's and 100's, we want to make sure our health span matches our projected lifespan. Part of a good health span includes building up your emotional and intelligence quotient, which is just as important to your overall health as your physical health. Take the time to assess if you have a solid plan to make it to HHY (healthy 100 years)?

Daniel Burstein spoke to Dr. Michael Solomon, Professor of Marketing, Saint Joseph's University (https://www.sju.edu/) in Episode #4.Some lessons that emerged in the discussion: Don't overlook unconventional sources of data. When Dr. Solomon worked with Levi Strauss on the psychology of blue jeans, he learned a lot by poring through letters customers had written to the company over 150 years. Interact as much as possible with real consumers when you're developing a new product. Dr. Solomon's team observed how users struggled with a popular cleaning product from Black & Decker. By making a simple design change that didn't occur to the engineers, this brand became the market leader in its category. Get frequent reality checks from customers. As an author of several marketing textbooks, Dr. Solomon discovered that his frame of reference is not the same as his readers (typically college students). For example, when he discussed cultural events like 9/11, he had to remind himself that his readers were infants when this occurred.Dr. Solomon also shared lessons he gained from the people he collaborated with in his career: John Greco, Chair and CEO, Marketing IMPACT Council taught him about the strength of weak ties. Networking with associates of a colleague can be very effective. John reinforced the value of maintaining strong networks and partnerships where members possess complementary skills.Dr. Malaika Brengman, Associate Professor of Marketing, Vrije Universiteit Brussel taught him about finding collaborators with complementary skillsets. Collaborating on research about robotic service providers, he has seen how valuable it can be to team up with a colleague who has a different frame of reference and background.Jacqueline Lew, Executive Director / Global Head of Consumer & Brand Health Practice, CI Product Leadership, NielsenIQ taught him to always be vigilant about updating assumptions. Jacqueline's frame of reference is global (she is based in Malaysia) and her perspective has been useful to him as he checks his assumptions about consumer behavior in other parts of the world.Dr. Solomon's parting words of advice: “Always start at least with the assumption that your frame of reference is not the same as your customers”Articles (and a book) mentioned in this episode:The New Chameleons: How to Connect with Consumers Who Defy Categorization (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-new-chameleons-the-new-chameleons-michael-r-solomon/1136940991) – his bookMobile Marketing: 4 takeaways on how to improve your mobile shopping experience beyond just responsive design (https://marketingexperiments.com/conversion-marketing/mobile-marketing-four-takeaways-on-how-to-improve-your-mobile-shopping-experience-beyond-just-responsive-design)– eBags used customer anthropology to discover how customers shop for handbags onlineCustomer Theory: How to leverage empathy in your marketing (with free tool) (https://marketingexperiments.com/conversion-marketing/customer-theory-leverage-empathy-free-tool)Content Marketing: You must overcome The Jackson 5 Effect to find subject matter experts (https://sherpablog.marketingsherpa.com/content-marketing-2/content-marketing-jackson-5-effect/)

Emotional Intelligence What comes to mind when you think of Emotional Intelligence(EI)? It involves understanding and managing your own emotions and those of the people around you. Emotional intelligence is essential for success. In this episode, we look at the key components of EI, IQ versus EI, and the biggest determinant of a high EQ. Besides, is it better to be street or book smart, and why do successful people have high emotional intelligence? Tune in to find out more! In this Episode [09:09] Emotional Intelligence Assessment [15:57] Quotes on emotional intelligence [20:46] Five key elements of emotional intelligence [25:13] Emotional Intelligence vs. Intelligence Quotient [29:00] Why are people with higher EQ more successful than people with higher IQ? [32:40] Street smart vs. Book smart [34:33] Feedback as the biggest determinant of high EQ [40:27] Fake feedback [42:19] Vulnerability and owning up. Powerful Quotes I can not offend you. Only you can offend yourself. This is how the brain works. I might be the catalyst, I say something, and you have thought about what I say, and that thought creates a feeling. If you're training the culture of you can offend me, and I can offend you, then we are training them to be victims. Between stimulus and response, there is a space, and in that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies growth and freedom. When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic but with creatures of emotions. Making obvious decisions is not based on emotion but based on logic and trying to remove emotion. IQ is a good protector of who is going to do good in school, while EQ is a good protector of who is going to be more successful and happier in life. The strength of your emotions dictates the level of happiness and fulfillment you will achieve. Hello and welcome to Lechem Panim! We have been looking at the first missionary journey of Paul, who sets out with Barnabas from Jerusalem and have now come to Pisidian Antioch. And they go into the synagogue to share with those who have gathered there about the Good News of Jesus Christ. And there is a tremendous positive response. And word of Paul's message spread like wildfire; and it says in… Acts 13:44-45 (ESV)— 44 The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. {Now there was a also a negative reaction to this as well, as it says…} 45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. Jealous— And the chief word we have to latch onto here is jealousy. While the Jewish leaders undoubtedly tried to refute Paul with theological arguments, Luke emphasizes that their disdain was not because Paul was preaching things that were not true, but rather because he was winning the hearts of the people in a way that they never could; and so they were jealous. Now jealousy (unfortunately) is a common reaction; one that we often have when we see other's excelling in ways we haven't but want to; or when we see others receiving affirmation or praise in ways that we want to be affirmed or praised. And like it can happen with us today, these Jewish leaders allowed their jealousy to actually lead them into trying to stop the work of God. But the way we fight that jealousy in our hearts is by learning to rejoice in the work of God, no matter who is doing it. Smart Hopis— You know, [Not long after the I.Q. (Intelligence Quotient) test was developed, several studies were conducted to find out how different groups of people scored on the test as groups. The test was administered to men and women, young and old, rich and poor, and many ethnic groups as well. It was in this context that the I.Q. test was given to a group of Hopi {(hoe-pee)} Indians. When the Hopi {(hoe-pee)} received the test, they immediately started to ask each other questions and to compare their answers. The instructor saw this happening, and quickly intervened, telling them that they each had to take the test alone. “You are not permitted to help each other or to share your answers among yourselves,” he told them. When the Hopi {(hoe-pee)} heard this, they were outraged and refused to take the test, saying, “It is not important that I am smarter than my brother, or that my brother is smarter than me. It is only important what we can do together!” Unfortunately, we live in a world that puts a big emphasis on what we do alone. As a result, we suffer from all sorts of maladies: low self-esteem, competitiveness, jealousy, greed, anger, and hostility, to name a few. But God created us to live in community with each other—to work together, to share our resources with each other, to help each other out. The principle is love, not competitiveness and greed. In the body of Christ, no one is greater or more important than anyone else (see 1 Corinthians 12). Christianity is not a religion for “Lone Rangers.” We really do need each other.] But that was obviously not something these Jewish leaders understood. Now in response to the jealousy and persecution of the Jewish leaders, it says… Acts 13:46 (ESV)— 46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. To The Jew First— And so we see here stressed once again the fact that God's plan has always been that the Jewish nation would be the ones through whom the rest of the world would come to know God. God had said to Abram in… Genesis 12:3 (ESV)— 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” {And Paul highlights this in his continuing to quote from the Old Testament, saying in)… Acts 13:47 (ESV)— 47 For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” Keeping The Pattern— You see, [God had planned for Israel to be this light (Isaiah 49:6.] Through Israel, Jesus (the Light of the World) came (Luke 3:32). And that light was meant to spread out even to the Gentiles. And so Paul still seeks to keep to that “Jew-first” pattern, preaching first to the Jew because he loved his people (Romans 9:1-5) and wanted them to experience the joy of joining with Him in proclaiming God's salvation to the world. But unfortunately (as we said before) many Jews were resistant to the idea of Jesus being the Messiah because He didn't fit into their mold of who they thought and wanted the Messiah to be; and many of them did not see (or want to believe) that God was offering salvation to anyone (Jew or Gentile) who was willing to place their faith in Christ. Now you can imagine what a shock this must have been to the Gentiles in the crowd; what a wonderful message of hope that even they might be brought into the family of God, which is why it says in… Acts 13:48-50 (ESV)— 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. 49 And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. 50 But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. The Truth Rejected— And so instead of accepting what God was saying through Paul, they reject the truth and drive both Paul and Barnabas out of town. And that's what people almost always do when they come across a truth they don't want to hear. It is much easier to close our ears or disregard the person sharing that truth than it is to receive that truth, especially if it is a truth that will require us to humble ourselves and make serious changes. But when God points something out in our lives that needs changing, we need to be sure not to pull away from Him; because if we continue to do that, we will eventually push the truth so far away from us that it will no longer affect us; and we will miss out on what God wants to do in and through each of our lives. And that's what happened to the Jewish leaders in our passage today. But it says of Paul and Barnabas in… Acts 13:51-52 (ESV)— 51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Shaking The Dust— Now what's with the shaking of the dust from their feet all about? Well it was actually customary during the time, whenever a Jew would leave a Gentile town to make their way back to their own land, to shake the dust off of their feet. Because remember they saw the Gentile regions as unclean; and so it was a symbolic way of cleansing themselves from the contamination of those people who did not worship God. Now what is remarkable here is that Paul and Barnabas are doing this not to Gentiles, but to the Jewish leaders, which was a powerful way of saying that because they had rejected the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus, they were not truly a part of Israel and were (in fact) no better than pagans. And this was something that Jesus Himself had commanded His followers to do in Mark 6:11. He [had told his disciples to shake from their feet the dust of any town that would not accept or listen to them (Mark 6:11).] The disciples were not at fault if the message was rejected. They only had to present it faithfully. And you know, the same is true of us. So often we think we are responsible for how people respond to our sharing of the message of the Gospel; but that is not true. We are only responsible for sharing the Gospel the best we can and trusting God for the rest. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the hearer to respond; and for God to do the best He can to make that person as ready as possible to receive that word from you. And so for us, all we need to worry about is getting out there. We will not be judged for people's rejection of the Gospel. But we will be judged for not sharing the Gospel. And so let that be an encouragement to you. If somebody rejects you, simply shake it off and keep going. In sharing in the rejection of Jesus, you are in the company of great men and women who have gone before you. Maybe The Hearer— But maybe today you are not the speaker; maybe you are the hearer. Maybe God is moving you to respond to the Gospel in a way you haven't before; maybe even to make a decision to receive Jesus Christ for the first time. If that is the case, I would like to invite you to pray this prayer with me today: Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. If you prayed that prayer today, then you have crossed from death to life; and you have cause to celebrate, because you also have become a part of the family of God. And so rejoice today. But also remember that that joy is not for you alone; you must take the light you have embraced and received into the world so that the world also may know the light of God's salvation. The Lord has made you a light for the nations, so that you might bring salvation to the ends of the earth. May you be a blessing to all the families of the earth as you seek for those open doors to share the Good News of Christ with those you encounter. Amen.

Intelligence Quotient = IQ.IQ is a measurement, this is known. The question is - of what? Today we post an episode that we feel we'll never get right. Today we talk about the history and purpose of the IQ test and the standards we hold too. Today we ask why? What is your measurement of success? How does IQ factor into our preconceived notions of capability? What are we trying to prove? All this and more in Ep. 17
Distinction Between EQ and IQ: What is Emotional Intelligence and How to Improve it EQ and IQ are terms that are often confused and mistakenly used with each other. However, there are some very important distinctions between EQ and IQ and this requires some mental acrobatics. IQ is known as “Intelligence Quotient” and it's a measure of a person's relative intelligence. Emotional Quotient, also known as EQ, is the ability to identify and manage your emotions and the emotions of others. The sky's the limit for a person who excels in both areas. Many people hold that IQ is more important for a person to achieve success in life while researchers hold that people with high EQ are more successful in their careers. While IQ is a number that indicates a person reasoning or logical ability in comparison to the statistical norm. Conversely, EQ implies the level of person's emotional intelligence. Self-awareness. In this podcast, Dr. Rodolfo De Acutis, Global PMO Lead R&D at Nestlé, and Joe Cahill discuss the leadership of emotions and the critical role of power skills for PMO and portfolio organizations. Dr. De Acutis shares that project leaders and change makers face a range of emotional triggers when engaging with stakeholders that they will need to manage. These triggers increase stress and can affect a project leader’s performance. He suggests a range of techniques leaders can use to reframe emotional responses, such as reflection and explaining the “why.”Dr. De Acutis also discusses the challenges facing organizations as they recruit and build their project leaders and teams. He believes that talent equals Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ). Thus, effective project leaders need to balance their technical and leadership/interpersonal skills. He strongly believes that project leaders still need strong technical skills, especially risk management, and need to incorporate approaches like agile and lean to respond to project characteristics which do not fit well with highly predictive approaches. But to rally a team to produce its best results requires building trust and being transparent.Dr. De Acutis closes with his focus on nourishing his own passion for knowledge and learning so he can continue to positively embrace the future of work.
We have heard about IQ, the Intelligence Quotient, a measure of our intellectual capability – our book smarts. More recently, we came to understand the critical complementary role of EQ – Emotional Quotient, or people skills. Now there is a new Q on the block – AQ, Adaptability Quotient, our ability to adapt to unanticipated changes in the landscape of our lives. Boy, do we all need a hefty helping of AQ right now. There is a lively tradition of debate as to how much of our IQ, EQ, and AQ are innate, and how much we can grow along any of these tracks. Unfortunately Emotional intelligence isn't taught in school even though it is as important as our "Intelligence Quotient" if not more. It is so significant in fact, that without the appropriate emotional state your analytic brain can't even function properly. That's the reason why I invite my guest Trina Casey to chat with me. One might have higher level of intelligence, but it is not the same with the EQ. The technology has grown up, and at same time some of the products are in surplus. It’s harming the environment as well as our lifestyle. The problems with relationships are on rise because people are not focusing on their emotional quotient. There is a lot of satisfaction in terms of brainwork, but it is not the same with our emotions. Humans nowadays are facing frustrations in relationships and not in the technology, since no one has found out solution over it. Relationships can only be maintained by the way you communicate, the way you try to match feelings and the way you relate. Remember that life will become better if you are emotionally mature. #Intelligence #Quotient #Emotional #Stability

Guest Pace Duckenfield, Dartmouth '96, had been pursuing a legal career in the telecom policy and regulation area—just as planned. But he also knew that he would need to make good on his commitment to the military. Instead of continuing to process security clearances—same process, different day—he decided that going active duty would help him develop more skills.Finding himself in the Middle East just after the U.S. invaded Iraq, his days were definitely anything but mundane. His work as an intelligence officer (and paratrooper) put him in contact with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and gave him the chance to learn volumes more than books would have provided, then his lust for lifelong learning pushed him into cyber operations and training. In this episode, find out from Pace how intelligence is one thing, but lifelong learning is another…on ROADS TAKEN...with Leslie Jennings Rowley. About This Episode's GuestPace Duckenfield is a Cyber and intelligence leader for the U.S. military, whose focus has been on guiding teams to provide critical data collection and analysis for tactical, operational, and strategic uses. On this episode of Tell Me What You Know, we’re getting buzzed off a cold six-pack of Killer Bee knowledge. The Africanized Honeybee, AKA Killer Bee, likes to swarm and sting more than their docile cousins. We talk about how this hybrid Apis made its way to the USA, and dive into whether or not these insects are as deadly and dangerous as they have been made out to be. Where does their sting rank on the Pain Scale, created by the King of Sting himself? You’ll have to listen to find out. And then, we’re talking about our Intelligence Quotients, and if you wicked smart you’ll know we’re talking about IQ. This standardized measurement compares your intelligence against all the other test participants,. An IQ of 100 doesn’t mean you anything other than you are perfectly average. People with IQs in the top 2% of the population can join the organization Mensa which makes them Mensans which I think shows exactly how smart they are. Episode 27. Topic: Intelligence Quotient. Theme: Education. Was does IQ mean, where does it originate, and what are the limits of this "intelligence" scale?
“Be willing to change because life won’t stay the same.” Anonymous When Emanuel Thomas and I sat down to record this podcast, Covid-19, Pandemic, and Outbreak were absent from headlines. The main concern that Tuesday afternoon early in the month of March was whether we'd continue to see rain all week or if sunshine would grace us and usher in an early Spring. Little did either of us know that when this podcast would air, many people will be in the midst of the most uncertain and volatile time of their lives. Regardless of the environment that day, our focus was on adaptability. Emanuel Thomas is a TEDx Speaker, Transformational Mindset Coach, Columnist, and the author of "The Power Of Thinking Inside The Box." When exploring the topic of today's podcast, Emanuel educated me on the concept of AQ. If you're reading this, chances are you have a basic understanding of what IQ is and what it measures. I'm even willing to venture you've explored the meaning and importance of EQ at some point as well. These two terms respectively translate into Intelligence Quotient and Emotional Quotient. When it comes to growth and development, we typically focus on these two measurements and increasing them at some point in our lives. However, what if there was another variable to consider? We're talking about your Adaptability Quotient. (AQ) How good are you at adjusting to your environment? How aware are you of your current stress level? These are the questions Emanuel and I pose when discussing AQ. One thing we knew for sure that early March afternoon is that life is going to happen. We will be tested and those challenges lurk right around the corner. How will you prepare for it? Here we are being tested by a Pandemic that doesn't have an expiration date posted. How will we come out on the other side? Take a listen to today's episode as Emanuel and I discuss the importance of going through it, documenting your movements, and accepting weakness as strength. In Emanuel's words; "The peaks can't teach you what the valleys can." We're all in the valley now. What are you learning? 1Corinthians 2:13 We are not using the words that human wisdom teaches but those which the Holy Spirit teaches, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. Intelligence is a knowing of a particular kind. Do you have any intelligence concerning the cause of a certain matter? We have ways of measuring wisdom for different areas of our lives. One is called our IQ or Intelligence Quotient, which measures our intellectual intelligence - how competent we are to associate different things together, shapes, numbers, words, concepts, problem solving. There is also much emphasis today in measuring our emotional intelligence, our EQ - how effectively do we respond emotionally to life – calm responses or frustrated reactions? AND we also have an SQ, a spiritual intelligence - how we respond spiritually to life and resonate and flow with the gift of God’s Spirit living within us through Jesus (spiritual things with spiritual). I can have a high strategic intelligence and not have an emotional intelligence awareness because I allow frustration and annoyance and resentment to rule instead of peace and calm. I can also have emotional intelligence but not have spiritual intelligence, not living in spiritual resonance or harmony with God’s Spirit within, not being grateful to God in all things, and indifferent to the needs of others. So finding emotional peace and calm is not just for making me an island of peace isolated from the needs around me. These are all valid measures for different areas of effectiveness or success in our lives. So it is good to be aware of them all. And to do the work needed in each area. What does the Bible say about natural wisdom and intelligence? – The parable of the unjust steward.Luke 16:8 …Children of this world wiser than the children of light… Doesn’t mean Christians should learn how to cheat better in the rat race. But in the natural wisdom of the rat race the smart rats win. In the world of market place strategies those who have the clues and intelligently get down to the business of mapping their territory will be successful. What about us in our spiritual territory? What are the virtues of natural wisdom? IQConfidence, intelligence, conscientiousness, discipline and stewardship. The attitude is one of confidence. What does the Bible say about emotional intelligence and wisdom? EQProverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all devious talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path . Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. What are the virtues of emotional wisdom? The attitude is one of caution and calm and consistency – not ups and downs but steady as she goes. What is spiritual intelligence and wisdom? Is it how much we read the Bible, or pray, or exercise spiritual gifts? It is more than all of that. The Pharisees read the Bible and prayed. The Christians in Corinth excelled in spiritual gifts but the competition between them in the exercise of spiritual gifts was not spiritual. 2Corinthians 10:12 In comparing themselves with themselves they are not wise (spiritually unintelligent) 1Corinthians 3:1 Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your natural desires. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your natural desires? Aren’t you living like people of the world? How do we blend these all these spheres of intelligent KNOWING in our daily lives and how do they affect us personally and help us to bless one another? We can be a blessing to people in our world.Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ… vs.8 he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life… That is Spiritual Intelligence talk! There is only one simple thing to do – be still and know. Intelligence is a knowing that you and God are doing his will together!Have the faith of God Galatians 2:20. … no longer I that live…he is not a spectator in your life neither are you in his. It is not that God can’t do his will without us – He busts into our life (Philippians 2:6 - Saul Damascus) He just wants to do his will with us. An unlimited God wants to include limited us because that is his way of life since Jesus. That is his intelligent plan. Jesus sowed the seed of his life so that his risen life would be the harvest in our lives. Paul sowed his life in prayer for others for this risen life to become real in them. (Galatians 4:19) Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ… This is a powerful activity of the cross in our lives. In fact being anchored by faith in this spiritual understanding prospers our efforts in the other spheres. We become more productive and successful in our emotional and relational world and in our worldly plans. There are choices we make in life that have a spiritual effect on ourselves and upon others and which also affect the spiritual environment around us.There are certain simple but critical choices that we are confronted with in life at any given time which result in us being in harmony with God’s Spirit or not. Something in our responses and reactions resonates either with the nature of God or with the nature of our frustrated humanity or the nature of darkness. letting his love flow to us and through us to others, letting go of our doubts and limitations and letting God’s faith find us.
The task of managing two or more activities in hand is called as management. By that definition everyone here is a manager naturally. In this corporate world, to be successful two Q's are important. The first Q is IQ which is called as Intelligence Quotient which we acquire from the school and college and other academic education. The second Q is EQ which is Emotional Quotient. It is the ability to handle things and take better decisions under pressure. The third Q that is the least noticed and the seperating point between a good manager and the best manager is BNQ. BNQ is Bad News Quotient. It is our ability of how we receive, perceive and deliver a bad news. In this episode of podcast I am sharing what it takes to handle a bad news, why we are not listening to much of bad news from our teams and organisations and how hearing the bad news can drive us towards the success while working in teams. The Intelligence Quotient – a reliable indicator or political manipulation? In episode two of Brain Detox, Idriss Aberkane questions the scientific validity of using an IQ test as a measure of intelligence. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
John Golden talks to Spencer Marona about value quotient " Axiogenics, linking thinking to performance. Spencer explains the difference between VQ "value judgment intelligence quotient" versus IQ "intelligence quotient" versus EQ "emotional intelligence". How important that really is for leaders. Emotional intelligence in regards to being able to handle yourself when employees' conflicts arise, being able to really keep a level head, reading people's moods, emotions and body language.
As you may know, The Intelligence Quotient is one of the psychological inventions which have incredibly related with our learning potential and thinking abilities. The individuals who have the highest IQ have the tendency to learn faster and memorize speedily. What about logic and maths problem? Arguably, since most IQ tests are designed to test this, we can say people with a high score can do well in maths and logical puzzles. Joel Turner joins the podcast to explain the science behing the shot. ShotIQ is the new brand that was born from Ironmind Hunting. We wanted to do more. The goal of ShotIQ is to bring shooters control through knowledge. We wanted to lay out the complete blueprint of shot control and end the frustration of all shooters, no matter the weapon. This knowledge transcends all weapon systems and unlocks the shooting mind. The letters “IQ” stand for Intelligence Quotient. A person’s IQ is derived from several standardized tests that measure cognitive ability. But, these tests measure cognition in the skill sets of math, science, languages, etc. Have you ever taken a test to measure your cognitive ability during a high stress shooting event? At ShotIQ, we want you to perform at your cognitive best during the worst times for the human mind. The shooting mind of the human is a super efficient machine. However, that does not make it the most accurate machine. To put efficiency into precision under stress takes knowledge, knowledge of how the mind works and how it attempts to protect the body. Gaining this knowledge has taken a lifetime of failure, success, and analysis. The analysis of shots taken under extreme stress has led to a system of instruction. That system is Controlled Process Shooting. This system will teach you WHAT decisions must be made in a shot, specifically WHEN to make these decisions, and scientifically HOW to carry these decisions out. Do not allow your mind to follow the natural path of shot anticipation. Destroy target panic at its core. End the frustration. Raise your ShotIQ. ARCHERYI shot my first bow at the age of seven. From the first time I saw the spinning flight of that arrow, I was completely immersed. Archery became my life. However, by the age of eight, target panic had engulfed me. This frustration carried all the way through to my adult life. I read everything, tried everything, hoping for that magic method to cure me of this ailment. It wasn’t until I began the analysis process of my firearms shot that I realized there is no method out there that will work for me, I had to work for it, but I didn’t know HOW to do the work. Research into my many failures and my few successes began the workings of the blueprint to control. Once I realized the two facts that target panic is the mind’s natural path of efficiency and the core problem of the shooting mind is pre ignition movements, I was able to develop the system of Controlled Process Shooting. More importantly, I was able to present a system of instruction that conveyed this message in common sense terms. Target panic is within all of us. It takes decisions, determination and knowledge to even be able to take the first steps down the path of shot control. The path, however, is very short when you put those key components together. Myself and those I instruct enjoy archery one perfectly controlled shot at a time. HUNTINGI began hunting while riding in a backpack carried by my father. I harvested my first deer with a rifle at the age of 12. That shot was completely out of control and it was only luck that made that bullet connect. My early hunting career was fraught with failure.I harvested my first deer with a bow at the age of 15. That shot too was completely out of control. I was deep in the throws of target panic in my early days and that malady followed me into my 30’s. It took me 13 years to harvest a bull elk with my bow. My lack of success was not because of a lack of opportunities. I have been fortunate enough to hold two RMEF Professional World Championships in elk calling. That being said, I have no problem getting bulls close, I just didn’t know HOW to control my shooting. I had to take the science I had figured out in the firearms realm and transfer it into my archery shot, it only made sense. Now that I have complete control of my shot, my hunting success has grown exponentially. I can now predict my own future in shot control. When I get a shot in the field, I will shoot a controlled arrow, no matter what. Further, I have a very specific blueprint on HOW I will do that. I now know WHAT decisions to make in a shot, WHEN to make them within the shot, and scientifically HOW to carry those decisions out. What a powerful feeling it is to know how your next moment of truth will be controlled.

Monique Russell is the managing partner of Clear Communication Solutions LLC, a communications coaching and consulting firm focused on helping women leaders go from good to great as confident communicators. As a certified DiSC trainer and Professional Coach with graduate degrees in Communications, she helps leaders strengthen their personal and professional relationships by using practical tools to harness their emotional intelligence. Show Notes: “No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.” -Theodore Roosevelt. Implicit in this statement is the idea that emotional intelligence is a necessary trait for anyone with leadership aspirations. Further, it is said, Intelligence Quotient gets you hired but Emotional Quotient (EQ) gets you promoted. As someone who, over a series of events, had lost her confidence, Leadercast Host Site Leader, Monique Russell is now on a path to help others regain their self-belief through a series of experiences by practicing tools to harness emotional intelligence. In a recent episode of The Entrepreneurial You podcast, Monique shares her journey of accomplishment and how to leverage emotional intelligence to lead effectively. Moniqe shares Myles Munroe 5 questions that motivates the human heart: 1.Who am I? 2.Where am I from? 3.What can I do? 4.Who can I serve? 5.Where am I going? “When you align with your strengths and get clear on it, doors will open”, Monique went on before touching on an important quadrant that we need to be aware of in the Emotional Intelligence conversation. Identify what is happening 2. Self-regulation 3. Social awareness 4. Relationship management In my quest to delve deeply into what emotional intelligence is and how to get there, I was put in the hot seat as Monique illustrated the power of reflection. “Emotional Intelligence is being able to identify what your body is doing at the first sign of stress…Take that data and apply it to make your relationships more productive…How is your behavior affecting others around you?” “As you aim to work up the Emotional Intelligence continuum, working with a coach who is dedicated to see you get from good to great is a great way to start…Another effective tool is the power of reflection – review, repair and release. It is important to focus on what is bringing joy instead of putting fires out.” “Identify key points within projects and figure out when did I operate in a spirt of excellence, Monique suggests.” These are just a few of the pointers Monique gave.
