In this episode of On Mission, Sarah Harrigan Scalfaro, Chris Pierno, and Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. are joined by Fatima Monterrubio Cruess, Resource Coordinator at the Catholic Apostolate Center, discuss Hispanic and Latino Spirituality in the Catholic Church.Fatima demonstrates how the culture and spirituality of Hispanic/Latino populations contributes to the welfare of the Universal Church. She also discusses some best practices for ministering to this community that has many different cultural practices. Fatima shows how within these communities, there are special moments of encounters with one another where individuals share common values and get to know each other more personally. On June 16, 2023, the US bishops approved a National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry. The Plan refers to Hispanics/Latinos as a blessing from God, as a missionary and prophetic presence that revitalizes the church in the United States. A few of these graces include an abiding love for family and community, a rich practice of Catholic traditions, an authentic Marian devotion, and vibrant ecclesial movements. For the past four decades, Hispanic/Latino ministry has flourished in thousands of parishes across the country. Such ministries have produced many fruits as millions of Hispanic/Latino families have been able to live and celebrate their Catholic faith. Building on that growth, the Plan calls for a synodal church that is more welcoming, evangelizing, and missionary at all levels; a church that can build vibrant parish communities with our Hispanic/Latino brothers and sisters, in the context of a culturally diverse society. Related Episodes:Dr. Timoney on the Synod on SynodalitySynod on SynodalityParish Faith Formation Resources:USCCB: Hispanic/Latino AffairsNational Pastoral Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry Resources From the Ad Infinitum blog:The Fruits of Being BiculturalTricultural Blessings: How My Cultures Have Shaped My FaithDía de Muertos and the Meaning of Christian Death Follow us:The Catholic Apostolate CenterThe Center's podcast websiteInstagramFacebookApple PodcastsSpotify On Mission is produced by the Catholic Apostolate Center. Renata talks about dental life in Brazil, coming to the DTG symposium in 2016, learning English to teach a hands-on course at Lab Day, teaching others around the world, and how she makes amazing clear digital dentures. Siskel and Ebert may be two of the all-time greatest film critics, but they got it completely wrong when they reviewed the 1986 comedy classic, "Three Amigos!" A film starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase at the height of their popularity, this movie has a mere 45% on Rotten Tomatoes and a one star review from both Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert. My guest this week is Rob Stennett, an author, screenwriter, and co-host of the fantastic podcast, The Meaning of the Movie. Together, we seek to defeat the GOAT duo of Siskel and Ebert by defending one of our favorite 80's comedies, figuring out who our favorite Amigo is, and also finding some genuine meaning in a silly film about three American actors in Mexico. Today in true crime history, on January 14th 1964, the González sisters, Guinness World Record holders for Most Prolific Murder Partnership, were arrested after a reign of terror that killed over 91 people. The sisters, known locally as Las Poquianchis, operated a brothel in Mexico called Guadalajara de Noche, which housed around a dozen captive girls between the ages of 13-17 at the time of their arrest. Authorities soon found that the squalid conditions these girls were kept in was only the tip of the iceberg!Writing and research by Aurora Cady.Original music and audio production by Louis Levesque. For inquiries: louis14levesque@gmail.comF O L L O W  U S ! ! !I N S T A G R A M -- @murdermurdernewsT W I T T E R --  @mmurdernewsF A C E B O O K -- https://www.facebook.com/mmntruecrime/T I K T O K -- @murdermurdernewsY O U T U B E -- MurderMurder NewsJoin our Facebook Group | to chat about true crime, and to join our virtual book club!Check out MurderMurder.news for the latest breaking true crime news! For business inquiries: murdermurdernews@gmail.comSubmit a  spooky story: https://murdermurder.news/story-submission-form/---LINKS + SOURCES:Once Upon a Crime - The Gonzalez SistersFruitloops - Las Poquianchishttps://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Delfina_and_Mar%C3%ADa_de_Jes%C3%BAs_Gonz%C3%A1lez&oldid=911259324https://ecperez.blogspot.com/2009/10/las-poquianchis-macabre-case-that.htmlhttps://www.sandiegored.com/en/news/188449/The-Poquianchis-were-historys-most-feared-Mexican-women-serial-killershttps://www.latinpost.com/articles/146367/20200712/las-poquianchis-killing-sisters-mexico.htmhttps://justcriminals.info/2016/12/19/delfina-maria-de-jesus-gonzalez/https://unknownmisandry.blogspot.com/2011/09/delfina-maria-de-jesus-gonzalez-mexican.htmlhttps://medium.com/@michrkarr/the-gonzalez-sisters-b527cf19635bhttps://www.milenio.com/politica/comunidad/las-poquianchis-hermanas-que-prostituian-ninas-en-guanajuatohttps://www.la-prensa.com.mx/doble-via/virales/las-temibles-poquianchis-3515839.htmlhttps://www.clermontsun.com/2021/06/24/marc-hoover-the-deadly-sistersHeadlines:https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/01/08/shopping-cart-killer-victims-virginia-dc/9142475002/https://people.com/crime/man-charged-1986-murder-4-year-old-girl-taken-from-bed-while-family-slept/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/murdermurdernews)
