Our guest on this week's episode is Eric Fullerton, senior director of product marketing at project44. Transportation networks continue to be disrupted by the ongoing militia attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. To counter it, most ocean carriers are rerouting goods away from the Suez Canal and extending their ocean miles by sailing around the horn of Africa. We discuss the latest and what shippers can and should be doing to counteract the effects of these ongoing supply chain constraints. New research into demand for same-day delivery shows that it's not just hype – consumers still want fast service, and it can actually add up to higher revenue for companies that provide it. That's according to a report published this week by crowdsourced delivery platform Roadie. Retailers gathered in Dallas this past week for the Retail Industry Leaders Association annual meeting. We report on two large retailers, Nordstrom and Walmart, and what they are doing to enhance their customers' delivery experiences.Supply Chain Xchange also offers a podcast series called Supply Chain in the Fast Lane. The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
It's a fresh Friday to get out there and “move some lives forward” (Thanks Liza Borches for that phrase). Today we're talking about the released UAW demands and GM's response. We also cover Carvana's move to same-day delivery, as well as a jailbreak of Tesla's infotainment system.Citing the 40% rise of CEO salaries for the Big 3, Shawn Fain, President of the United Auto Workers union announced the union would be seeking wage increases of a 20% raise upon ratification, followed by 5% raises annually over the four-year period."The CEOs of the Big 3 over the last four-year agreement have enjoyed a 40 percent increase in pay on average, so I don't think our workers asking for their equitable share, when inflation's gone up almost 20 percent in the last four years, I don't think it's asking a lot for our members to look for their fair share."Also included in the proposal is a proposed 32 hour work week with a full 40 hours worth of pay saying “I think it will create more jobs, more opportunities for people to get their share in the economy.”GM released a statement pushing back against the broad demands saying that the demands "would threaten our ability to do what's right for the long-term benefit of the team."They also alluded to the threat of many new automakers positioning for market share by saying "We think it's important to protect U.S. manufacturing and jobs in an industry that is dominated by non-unionized competition.”Carvana has begun offering same-day vehicle delivery to customers in specific areas in Arizona, Indiana, and North Carolina after initially launching and testing in the greater Phoenix area Same-day delivery eligibility largely depends on the proximity of the customer to the selected used vehicle and the availability of delivery slots amidst other customer orders.Carvana plans to further roll out this offering across its nationwide footprint in the upcoming months.Three students from Technische Universität Berlin and an independent researcher have cracked Tesla's infotainment system, scoring free upgrades like heated rear seats. This car 'jailbreak' might even unlock self-driving and navigation features where they're usually off-limits.The researchers were also able to extract personal information from the car, such as contacts, calendar appointments, call logs, visited locations, Wi-Fi passwords, and session tokens from email accounts. To jailbreak the car, they used a technique called “voltage glitching,” which involves manipulating the supply voltage of the AMD processor that runs the infotainment system. This sort of hack requires physical access to the car.According to the researchers, Tesla would have to replace the hardware to prevent such attacks.Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email ASOTU Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/automotivestateoftheunion
Time now for our daily Tech and Business Report. Today, KCBS Radio's Nikki Medoro spoke with Bloomberg News reporter Spencer Soper. Are you tired of poor delivery experiences on your e-commerce site? Most consumers have no idea when their products will actually arrive, but that needs to change. In this episode, our special guest, Steve Orenstein talks about how his same-day delivery system for global e-commerce businesses - Zoom2u and Locate2u are creating a fantastic delivery experience, increasing repeat orders and driving volume like never before. And with a fleet of your drivers, you can save money by avoiding those pesky courier company fees. Tune in to learn how you can improve your delivery game today!ABOUT STEVE:Steve is a born entrepreneur who blazed his trail by ditching university at 19 to build his own business, Connect2Field. After successfully selling it to Fleetmatics (NYSE:FLTX), he set his sights on revolutionizing same-day delivery with the groundbreaking Zoom2u platform. With over 120,000 happy customers ranging from SMEs to corporate giants like DHL, Bunnings, and Nespresso, Steve is shaking up the delivery world one parcel at a time. Here's a summary of the great stuff that we cover in this show:[05:11] Steve dropped out of university to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and eventually founded locate2u, which provides a live tracking and same day delivery experience for e-commerce and retail businesses. The company also offers route optimization and live tracking, with over 500 customers worldwide. Their goal is to improve the customer experience through real-time delivery updates.[08:43] Same-day delivery makes sense for high-value items and products over $50 with enough volume, but it's important to restrict the delivery area and batch orders into time windows to make it cost-effective.[12:16] Providing a great delivery experience for local customers can lead to repeat orders and drive volume for e-commerce businesses, and even 20-30 local orders a day within a 3.5-mile radius can make same-day delivery cost-effective when using one's own fleet of drivers.[16:07] To find drivers, Steve recommends using Facebook groups and general recruitment sites. Same-day delivery does not require branded vans or drivers, but rather tapping into an existing network of drivers with cars and using technology like Locate2u to optimize routes and batch deliveries.[21:24] Grouping deliveries together can create a more efficient and controlled delivery experience for customers. This approach may require additional effort and resources, but can result in better customer satisfaction and repeat business. The use of storage facilities and hiring drivers to do pick and pack is also a possible method of same-day delivery with a global potential.[30:00] To offer same-day delivery, businesses need tech for route optimization and checkout process customization, which is not cost-prohibitive. Remunerating drivers involves calculating a cost per delivery, which can be fixed to the customer with a possibility of experimenting and tweaking the price. Thinking of it as a marketing expense can help gain more customers.[40:15] Nespresso uses their retail stores as micro warehouses to offer same-day delivery within a certain radius to customers who enter their address information during checkout. This could potentially be replicated by other retail businesses. Delivery options and speed are becoming increasingly important for e-commerce businesses to distinguish themselves from competitors. For complete show notes, transcript and links to our guest, check out our website: www.ecommerce-podcast.com.

In this episode, Liza interviews Debbie Kimberg, mother, advocate, and author. Debbie spent years helping her children and herself recover from Autism, ADHD, and other psychiatric issues caused by stealth infections overlooked by traditional medicine. These infections included Lyme and Bartonella. Today, Debbie is a board member of Project Lyme, Mother's Against Lyme, and an administrator of multiple Facebook groups on Tick-borne Disease, PANS, and autism. Debbie and many others in the field are shining a light on the connections between Bartonella and disorders like ASD and ADHD. We talk about a very important piece of the PANS puzzle – Congenital Lyme. In fact, Debbie and I both unknowingly passed Lyme and Bartonella onto our children, including our children diagnosed with PANS and ASD. This is an important episode you need to listen to. We've all been there… on the days where the meltdowns last extra long and we are frustrated, isolated, and barely surviving. It's exceptionally hard when you have an exceptional child. In this episode, Liza interviews Megan Champion, mother, educator, and community creator dedicated to supporting moms with neurodivergent kids. Megan shares her story of how she overcame her feelings of shame and guilt while tirelessly navigating those early years with her twice-exceptional son. She discusses the importance of community with other moms, self-forgiveness, and validation. More importantly, Megan tells us how she finally stepped into her parenting empowerment by finding the mom she needed to be from within, instead of following all the other parenting advice for typical kids. If your child is neurodivergent, twice-exceptional, autistic, or has a learning difference, this is a must-listen. Learn why following your intuition is the best course of action for our neurodivergent families. My work includes nearly 10 years at the residential level of care as well as intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels. I have contributed to research on hoarding, dropout from residential OCD recovery programs, and relief experiences in OCD. I'm also the host of the podcast, "All The Hard Things", which focuses on OCD, ERP, postpartum, and related concepts. In addition to the above, I have a 4 year old and also struggled with OCD myself, specifically postpartum OCD. Since having my son in 2018, I started what is now one of the largest mom support groups in Wisconsin.
