In this episode, Dan and Scott discuss everything Moon Man, New Glarus' groundbreaking and stalwart "No Coast" pale ale. In the years that followed there would be plenty of session IPAs on the market, but when Dan released Moon Man in 2009 there really wasn't a road map to follow.. Taking inspiration from the West Coast, Dan created what would become Wisconsin's number 1 hop-forward beer. Cheers!

It's been said that "comparison is the thief of joy" and that is certainly true. But when we are looking what others have we also lose sight of what we do have. Contentment is the result of gratefulness, purpose and faith.
Have you ever felt like that life has to have more to it than just the degree you are pursuing, the job you are working, the days you are completing? It's not that what you are doing doesn't matter - but is there something greater we are supposed to be doing?God created you, He has a purpose for you, He has given you gifts and talents, you are part of His plan on the earth. Pastor Gabe challenged us to be recommissioned and get engaged in the mission of God in your family, your church, and your city!
Vima Church Overseer, Pastor Josh Mayo delivered a powerful word on the love of God for you, for us, for humanity. How do we see God's love? How does God see us?

There are some truths that bring all of humanity together. One of those being "the words of a father have a huge impact on each of us." This can swing both ways, both good and bad. We desperately need the voices and actions of Godly fathers in our lives, in our churches, communities and world today. Maybe you missed the opportunity to hear encouraging words from your father. Pastor Jon took stood in proxy and delivered a heartfelt message from a father to you.
We started the "No Coast Summer" off strong with three fresh communicators from our church. Jay and Faith just graduated from Vima Leadership Academy's first class and Joey just returned from our first international missions trip. Each person shared on the Hope of Jesus in different realities: our church, our community and our world.
We are all on a pilgrimage to somewhere, trying to achieve and arrive at our preferred destinations. Along each of our paths there are perils, adversity, and pain. Where we look for our help and hope matters. The psalmists in Psalm 121 paints a beautiful picture of this journey and asks the important question, "Where does our help come from?"

Hey there friends! Today, I'm excited because I'm speaking with a good friend of mine, Mr. Steve Lydick from the bands A No Coast November, and Joceyln. Steve and I go way back, our bands went on tour together back in 2009 with The American Life and A No Coast November, and we were also joined by The JV Allstars. This was one of the most fun tours I was ever a part of. Steve has always been a profound guy, he's a smart and funny guy. I've always loved our conversations. I feel like it's always a life-giving conversation. One in which I take something really valuable away. We talk about a lot of things in this convo. We talk about exercise, personal growth, personal transformation and development, and we talk about how our identity plays a role in that. We also talk a little bit about being in a band and how that carries over into now. I really enjoyed this conversation, I think you will, too. Conserve, conserve, conserve It's not always a matter of increasing your watts, but increase your execution! Ask yourself “why am I pedaling right now?” Macro and micro! Micro is in the race, macro is the workouts on a day to day level. While I preach #NoCoast on endurance rides, you want to be coasting a TON in a bike race. Save the watts for when it really matters. Imagine a 5 x 5m interval set; the fifth one is brutal. Think about this in terms of race day. Try to make the first interval happen much later in the race; stay as fresh as possible. Don't close a gap and then find yourself grabbing the brakes; that means you closed it with too many watts! Save the watts! Imagine how strong you'll be after NOT doing a ton of work. https://youtu.be/7otsYzGfm-0

Today Ryan and Andrew sit down with Ryan Harmsen of No Coast Social. They discuss the biggest mistakes businesses make in their marketing plans, what it was like starting a business from scratch in the Quad Cities, and the wide varieties of industries Ryan has previous experience in. Ryan said while many told him he was hopping around too much and he felt like a "jack of many trades, while master of none", he credits that experience for being able to service clients in many different industries today. At the end of the episode Ryan makes an announcement that will benefit the majority of the SMBs in the Quad City Area. No Coast Social is a digital marketing agency based in the Quad Cities that focus on SMBs (small to medium sized businesses). They service clients in the medical, finance, real estate, auto, restaurant, and many other industries. Guest: Corkey Sinks Host: Christopher Kardambikis Recorded August 5th, 2018 @ Crosstown Arts // Memphis, TN Corkey Sinks (b. Dallas, TX) is an artist and designer based in Memphis, TN. Sinks received a BA in Media Studies from the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies at the University of Redlands, CA in 2005 and an MFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012. She views her work as a form of secular meditation. Embracing the human tendency to divine meaningful patterns within the noise of collective information, Sinks straddles research-based and intuitive modes of production. Her work generally explores themes of paranoia, obsession, and healing, often referencing utopian philosophies, textile traditions, folklore, political and new religious movements, and the supernatural. Sinks has exhibited work throughout the United States, Mexico, and Austria. In 2015, her book, Demon Baby Project: Events, Coincidences, and Repercussions was published by No Coast. Corkey Sinks and Jesse Butcher are co-founders and curators of Walls Divide Press, a small press producing zines, artists' books, and multiples. In addition to publishing zines, Walls Divide Press also organizes events, performances, and mini zine fairs out of their Memphis home and studio. Walls Divide Press welcomed it's first Artist-in-Residence in the spring of 2017 with plans to continue the program. Sinks is curating an exhibition titled Extension: Artists' Books, Prints, and Zines that will open at Dixon Gallery and Gardens in the fall of 2018. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/paper-cuts/support

For the past week, I've been working with Krell patches on a NoCoast. Bringing midi in from the Bio-Sonification module I first started by hooking my self up (via electrodes). This evening's Krell patch has midi coming in from a large block of Mycelium. Patching the Krell into a Korg SQ-1 and Werkstatt 01 I turned off all the lights and left the room.. allowing the Mycelium to do its thing. All of these September 'experimentations' are towards the performance taking place Saturday, September 29th during Nuit Blanche Toronto. https://www.facebook.com/events/1763778620414561/

Aay Preston-Myint has worked diligently for many years to build his thriving fine-art practice, but he's also devoted a tremendous amount of energy to collaborative projects that have improved the quality of life in Chicago for his fellow makers, and queer artists in particular. As one of the founding organizers of Chances, a series of dance parties, Aay helped to create a nightlife space where it was cool and safe to be both weird and queer, fostering community and funding creativity with grant money raised from the proceeds. As a partner in No Coast, a print-focused collaborative, an Editor of the arts and literary journal Monsters and Dust and an organizer of the Chicago Art Book Fair, he's learned valuable lessons about management and communication. We discussed the highlights (and a few low moments) from his multi-faceted career, and discussed strategies for letting go of criticality and getting in touch with the outside world- a tall order for introverts.
