Volta Metals CEO Karem Usenmez joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news the company has announced the initial sampling results from the company's recently acquired ZigZag Property, located in the Thunder Bay Mining District of Northwest Ontario. Situated within the Caribou Greenstone Belt, the under explored ZigZag property benefits from its location near two significant crustal structural trends known to host lithium pegmatite swarms, including the Falcon West and Aubury Pegmatite systems. Following the acquisition of the ZigZag Property, Volta Metals promptly collected 21 samples from the Dempster East pegmatite zone, located approximately 7 kilometers west of the company's Falcon West pegmatite swarm. Assays from these samples confirmed the presence of exceptionally high-grade mineralization, including lithium, tantalum, cesium, rubidium, and gallium. These results validate the exploration potential of the ZigZag Property and its significance within the broader Thunder Bay Mining District. Volta Metals has outlined the next steps in its exploration strategy including stripping and prospecting to expose additional mineralized zones. The company will also detail mapping and structural analysis to better understand the geology and distribution of the pegmatites. The team also plans to conducting geophysical surveys to identify deeper or hidden mineralization targets. The ZigZag Property's proximity to Lake Nipigon and the Caribou Greenstone Belt positions it within a highly prospective region for lithium and rare element discoveries. With a growing demand for critical minerals in the green energy transition, Usenmez expressed optimism about the property's potential to become a key contributor to Volta Metals' portfolio and to the broader supply chain of critical materials. #proactiveinvestors #voltametalsltd #cse #vlta #mining #lithium #citicalmetals #LithiumDiscovery #Gallium #ZigZagProperty #StrategicMetals #OntarioMining #Semiconductors #AIAdvancements #Exploration #ProactiveInvestors
There is a great blessing in both the young and the old as we enjoy the outdoors together. One of the things that we have lost in recent times is the passing of wisdom from one generation to the next. There are few places where it is easier to share in these times than in a fishing boat or hunting blind. We often fail to take advantage of the opportunities to share in these special times. On today's program, we will join a grandfather and grandson on a very special fishing trip in Northwest Ontario, at Rushing Winds Camp!
Volta Metals CEO Kerem Usenmez joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share promising results from a mobile metal ion (MMI) soil sampling program at the Falcon West Lithium Project in Northwest Ontario. The sampling, guided by high-resolution aeromagnetic and LIDAR surveys, identified five primary and five secondary targets with anomalous lithium response ratios, suggesting strong potential for lithium-bearing pegmatites. The program not only targeted lithium but also cesium, tantalum, and indicative minerals such as tin. Additionally, dispersion minerals like rare-alkali biotite, tourmaline, and holmquistite—a lithium-associated mineral often located within 5 to 20 meters of spodumene mineralization—were detected. The sizable 2.5 km by 1.5 km cluster of targets indicates the Falcon West Pegmatite Swarm could be significantly larger than previously defined. These findings justify further exploration, including overburden stripping of priority targets to develop additional drill sites. Volta Metals is committed to unlocking Falcon West's potential, advancing its position in the critical minerals sector as global demand for lithium continues to grow. #proactiveinvestors #voltametalslit #cse #vlta #LithiumExploration #MiningNews #BatteryMetals #Holmquistite #LithiumMining #DrillingTargets #SustainableMining #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Interview with Maura Kolb, President, and Trey Wasser, CEO of Dryden Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/dryden-gold-tsxvdry-expands-early-high-grade-finds-of-gold-occurrences-5164Recording date: 5th June 2024Dryden Gold Corp (TSXV:DRY) is an emerging gold exploration company with a district-scale land package in the underexplored Dryden Gold camp of Northwest Ontario. The company has consolidated over 60,000 hectares of prospective ground and made a high-grade gold discovery at its flagship project.Dryden Gold's initial drill campaign returned spectacular high-grade intercepts of 3.17 g/t gold over 4.00 meters including 19.34 g/t gold over 0.65 meters, and 26.11 g/t gold over 3.16 m, including 79.80 g/t gold over 0.33 m. These results confirm a large, high-grade gold system with the potential for multiple mineralized shoots. The Dryden project benefits from excellent infrastructure, with the Trans-Canada Highway and power lines running through the property. The project is located in a well-established mining jurisdiction, with the town of Dryden providing a local workforce and services. With ~C$3 million in working capital, a tight share structure (~50 million shares outstanding), and an aggressive exploration campaign underway, Dryden Gold is well positioned to deliver ongoing discovery success. The company's drill program confirmed the potential for a significant high-grade deposit, with mineralization remaining open in all directions and at depth.Dryden also plans to re-log and sample over 20,000 meters of historical drill core - an inexpensive way to potentially generate additional discoveries. Dryden has assembled a deep pipeline of brownfield and greenfield targets across its district-scale land package. Sampling has returned high-grade gold from multiple targets which remain largely untested. Recent prospecting has also identified a new greenfield discovery at the Hinman target.Overall, Dryden Gold offers investors exposure to an exciting high-grade gold discovery in a Tier 1 jurisdiction. With a large land package, a growing resource, and multiple discovery opportunities, Dryden has the potential to become a major gold story in the making. The company's strong management team, tight share structure, and backing from prominent mining investors provide a solid foundation for ongoing growth and value creation. Investors looking for high-grade gold discovery upside should strongly consider Dryden Gold Corp. With several potential catalysts on the horizon - including succeeding drill results, re-logging program results, and regional target testing - Dryden is entering an exciting period of growth and discovery. The company's valuation remains attractive at current levels, providing investors with a compelling entry point ahead of upcoming news flow.View Dryden Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/dryden-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
Interview with Maura Kolb, President, and Trey Wasser, CEO of Dryden Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/dryden-gold-tsxvdry-exceptional-gold-grades-4771Recording date: 1st February 2024High-Grade Gold Intercepts Imminent as Dryden Advances Ontario PropertiesDryden Gold has exploration well underway on its strategic land package in the historic Red Lake gold district of Northwest Ontario, where past production underscores the region's bonanza-grade potential. Recent drilling across multiple target zones means assay results are expected very soon, which could serve as key catalysts for market interest and revaluation of Dryden's shares.Systematic sampling and analysis by Dryden's technical team has outlined extensive shear structures tracing known high-grade gold mineralization along surface, now being methodically drill tested over a kilometer strike. Several drill phases late in 2023 focused on extending the known deposit shoots and also targeted past-producing ultra-high-grade veins.Significant widths of consistent mineralization visually logged in the drill core indicate positive early findings across the different target types and structures. Once the pending assay results are in hand for these Phase 1-3 holes, Dryden will incorporate the data into their 3D model, vectoring toward areas for follow-up.The recent strategic land acquisition means Dryden controls the vast majority of the prospective trend, where structurally-controlled fluid flow concentrated the regional gold endowment into exceptionally high-grade lenses during deformation events. Supported by sound technique and bottom-up targeting, Dryden's systematic exploration aims to demonstrate resource-scale potential across its consolidated ground package._View Dryden Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/dryden-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Palm oil is a commodity like no other. Found in half of supermarket products, from food to cosmetics to plastics, it has shaped the world in which we live. In Palm Oil: The Grease of Empire (Pluto Press, 2022), Max Haiven tells a sweeping story that touches on everything from empire to art, from war to food, and from climate change to racial capitalism. By tracing the global history of this ubiquitous elixir we see how capitalism creates surplus populations: people made dependent on capitalist wages but denied the opportunity to earn them - a proportion of humanity that is growing in our age of racialized and neo-colonial dispossession. Inspired by revolutionary writers like Eduardo Galeano, Saidiya Hartman, C.L.R. James and Rebecca Solnit, this kaleidoscopic and experimental book seeks to weave a story of the past in the present and the present in the past. Max Haiven is Canada Research Chair in Culture, Media and Social Justice at Lakehead University in Northwest Ontario and director of the Reimagining Value Action Lab (RiVAL). He writes articles for both academic and general audiences and is the author of the books Crises of Imagination, Crises of Power: Capitalism, Creativity and the Commons, The Radical Imagination: Social Movement Research in the Age of Austerity (with Alex Khasnabish) and Cultures of Financialization: Fictitious Capital in Popular Culture and Everyday Life. Revenge Capitalism: The Ghosts of Empire, the Demons of Capital, & the Settling of Unpayable Debts, 2020, is Max Haiven's most recent publication to date. Capitalism is in a profound state of crisis. Beyond the mere dispassionate cruelty of 'ordinary' structural violence, it appears today as a global system bent on reckless economic revenge. Its expression is found in mass incarceration, climate chaos, unpayable debt, pharmaceutical violence, and the relentless degradation of common life. In Revenge Capitalism, Max Haiven argues that this economic vengeance helps us explain the culture and politics of revenge we see in society more broadly. Moving from the history of colonialism and its continuing effects today, he examines the opioid crisis in the US, the growth of 'surplus populations' worldwide, and unpacks the central paradigm of unpayable debts – both as reparations owed and as a methodology of oppression. For this conference, Marc Garrett, co-director of Furtherfield (UK), interviews Max Haiven about his book discussing how its themes, ideas, and social contexts, relate to our everyday and cultural experiences and what this means. SPEAKERSMax Haiven is Canada Research Chair in Culture, Media and Social Justice at Lakehead University in Northwest Ontario and director of the ReImagining Value Action Lab (RiVAL). He writes articles for both academic and general audiences. He is the author of the books Crises of Imagination, Crises of Power: Capitalism, Creativity and the Commons (2014), The Radical Imagination: Social Movement Research in the Age of Austerity (with Alex Khasnabish, 2014) and Cultures of Financialization: Fictitious Capital in Popular Culture and Everyday Life (2014). His latest book, Art after Money, Money after Art: Creative Strategies Against Financialization, was published by Pluto in Fall 2018. His book Revenge Capitalism: The Ghosts of Empire, the Demons of Capital, and the Settling of Unpayable Debts will appear in May 2020. Rooster Talk Episode 31 A Margaret River Rooster Talk Series - August 2020 This episode of Rooster Talk has been on my sights for a while. I like that location and the potential of finding those double-digit million-ounce deposits which are common in this part of the world. Canadian geology is one of the most endowed places in the world. It is the "harsh" environment that is making discoveries fewer. When discoveries happen, they seem to be big and sustained. What Ardiden has is one of the many "belts" that require systematic drilling and lots of patience. Rob Longley, the Managing Director of Ardiden Limited (ASX: ADV), shares with us the progress of the company on its Pickel Lake Gold Deposit. Rob tells us what are the challenges and what is the potential of being patient and allowing the capital to be deployed to uncover what may become a great gold deposit. About Ardiden Limited Ardiden Limited (ASX: ADV) is an ASX-listed exploration company focused on building a compelling gold resource at its 100%-owned Pickle Lake Gold Project in one of Canada’s most prolific gold mining districts in Northwest Ontario, Canada. The project consists of over 664km2 of highly prospective landholding across three Deposits, Kasagiminnis (Kas), Dorothy and Dobie Gold Deposit. Ardiden has a maiden Inferred 110,000oz high-grade gold resource (790,000t @ 4.3g/t Au) at the Kasagiminnis Gold Deposit and in May 2020 defined an exploration target of 500,000oz to 1.2Moz @ 3.9 – 6.6g/t Au. The Deposit represents only a small section (600m) of a continuous 120km strike length at the flagship Pickle Lake Gold Project. During 2020, Ardiden aims to build on this Resource at Kasagiminnis with definition drilling as well as applying modern exploration technique to unlock value at its highly prospective numerous prospects, identified in June 2020 through the interpretation of various geological and geophysical data sets. Initial exploration of these targets has been very encouraging. Ontario is a tier-one mining jurisdiction and produced 2.5Moz gold in 2018, nearly half of Canada’s total annual gold production. The Province hosts 18 active gold mining projects. Ardiden also has 100% ownership of the Seymour Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, where it is seeking a partner or alliance to draw value from the project, as well as other lithium interests in Ontario including the Root Lake and Wisa Lake Lithium Projects. About Rob Longley Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Geologist with extensive experienced in global resources across gold, nickel, cobalt, lithium and iron ore sectors. His experience includes Managing Director of Helios Gold Limited and before that was General Manager Geology for Sundance Resources in Africa from 2007 to 2015. Rob has an impressive track record of successfully managing and executing exploration programs in difficult and remote locations and delivering progressive results and Mineral Resources to bring shareholder value and underpin the development of mineral projects. Rob is well-respected in the industry for his professional integrity, his resource growth achievements and commercial leadership.
Patrice Mousseau, First Nations, single Mom, watching her eight-month-old daughter scratch her arms and legs until they were bloody. The only prescription the Doctor offered to help with her daughter's eczema was a steroid cream, something Patrice didn’t want to do. So Patrice researched and identified five natural and organic ingredients that could help. Her research proved right and within two days her daughter was cured and as it turns out she wasn’t the only beneficiary. Word of mouth, then a farmers market and fast forward to today and 800 stores sell Satya Organic Skin Cream. Patrice is just getting started. 20% of children suffer from eczema, and the numbers from adults aren’t far beyond. How big can Patrice’s business get? She is already doing deals in Hong Kong and the USA. Can Patrice manage her growth? To help answer that question three experts weigh in. Vicki Saunders, the founder of SheEO who is one of the most impressive individuals I have ever chatted with. When you learn about their approach to empowering women and capitalism you will have renewed faith in #radicalgenerosity and collective wisdom. Vicki offers so much in terms of what it takes to build a business. From RBC we have Devinder Gill who is swept up in Patrice’s story, but also offers some sage advice on how to scale. Corby Fine, one of our thought leaders from Season One returns and puts his big digital brain to work on her business. He gets straight to the point to point Patrice in the right direction. Every small business owner, aspiring #entrepreneur, anyone dealing with the confines of a gig economy, or wanting to dream and do will benefit from this episode. A Mom doing what she can to keep her daughter from suffering. From farmer markets to800 retailers to knocking at the door of global markets. This is a true and telling tale of against all odds, but beating those odds with institution, insights, and the incredible SheEO platform to stand on. Chatter that Mattes is presented by RBC. A crockpot solution (01:10) Patrice’s daughter, only 8 months old developed eczema. With no alternative treatments, except steroid cream, Patrice seeks for an alternative. Researching both traditional and academic sources, she decides to make her own treatment…in her crockpot! It worked. Patrice was onto something. Community matters (02:32) Growing up in a small town in Northwest Ontario, and being part of the Anishinaabe Nation, provided Patrice with a strong sense of community. This held her in good stead as she battled and overcame alcoholism, eventually finding her feet to establishing herself as a successful broadcast journalist at CBC and APTN However, Patrice it not fulfilled and moves on. From local to global (06:42) Making her first sale at a local farmers market, Patrice is ecstatic and gets her product certified organic and approved by Health Canada. Satya is launched. Getting her product onto the shelf was her next step. Starting with a “no” at the first local store she approached, Patrice's’ eczema product is now in over 800 stores and has a partnership in Hong Kong. Satya’s growth has relied mostly on word-of-mouth but it’s now time to step this up a level or two. Patrice looks to our three experts for their advice. Advice to grow (10:06) Corby Fine, VP Digital at goeasy - Patrice needs to “dial-up” her communication on why the product matters, why her product is the best for the consumer. It’s a great product, make sure your communications bring this the fore. Devinder Gill, Regional VP, RBC Business Financial Services - sometimes you have to look back to go forwards. Getting clarity on Patrice's global ambitions would be a great place to start. Vicki Saunders, CEO of SheEO - don’t focus on too many things at once; focus on what’s directly in front of you and remember to breathe. My closing thoughts - Patrice’s North Star (25:40) In spite of her success, Patrice has never lost her North Star, always remaining true to her purpose. Caring about those who suffer from eczema and the planet, Patrice is striving to expand her business globally, never feeling disadvantaged by her circumstances. The DNA of a true entrepreneur. Margot Freitag is a coach who helps people transition to a plant-based diet successfully and sustainably. Growing up in Northwest Ontario (cue "Helpless" by Neil Young), she suffered from asthma, and made constant trips to the ER throughout her childhood. As a teen, she became a yoyo dieter, trying every variation she stumbled across in an attempt to lose weight: the apple-only diet, the "don't eat for a week" diet, low carb, etc. One plan she tried allowed her to eat cheese but not carrots, because sugar. (Sigh...)
This week we will talk about fishing opportunities across the continent, from California to South Carolina to Canada. Ken is just returning from a Father's Day Calico Bass trip off the coast of San Diego, California last week. He'll tell you all about it on this weekend's show. Charleston, South Carolina offers an amazing variety of inshore, nearshore, and offshore fishing opportunities. Captain Mike Illig from Avid Angling will join the show this week to talk about the summer patterns. Northwest Ontario provides abundant Walleye, Northern Pike and Smallmouth prospects. Niobe Lake Lodge representative Terry Claudell will join Ken in the second half of this week's show with all of the details.
Brendan Grant raises six acres of vegetables plus laying hens, Highland cattle, and a hundred acres of hay with his wife, Marcelle Paulin, at Sleepy G Farm, just east of Thunder Bay, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Superior. The only certified organic farm for 500 miles around in Canada, Sleepy G’s produce is marketed through a 150-member CSA, grocery stores, a farmers market, and a small on-farm store. Brendan shares his techniques for bringing new land into production, and delves into the ins and outs of tillage and mechanical weed control on raised beds. We also dig into marketing in Thunder Bay, an isolated city eight hours from other metropolitan areas with no history of market farming, as well as the impact of their isolation and extreme climate on production and input choices. We also discuss how the farm survived a serious accident two years ago, the impact that accident had on the farm and on Brendan, and how they managed their way through the crisis. We also discuss the pieces that Brendan and Marcelle had in place that helped the farm survive. Perennial support for the Farmer to Farmer Podcast is generously provided by Vermont Compost Company and BCS America. Pictures, show links, and more at farmertofarmerpodcast.com/episodes/grant.
Over the last several years the rhetoric around "creativity" and the "creative class" has been embraced by both governments, NGO's and many in the arts community. While creativity is positive there are deeper questions that we should ask about what this rhetoric upholds and reproduces. In this episode we explore these questions with Max Haiven. Max is the Canada Research Chair in Culture, Media and Social Justice at Lakehead University in Northwest Ontario and director of the ReImagining Value Action Lab (RiVAL). For more on Max's critique of "creativity" check out this artilce. http://artthreat.net/2012/10/privatizing-creativity/ Also check out Max's website- https://maxhaiven.com/ Like us on Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/radiofreewinnipeg/ Follow us on Twitter- @Radio_Free_WPG
